Hi,
I have updated my international HTC One X to CM10 ver(10-20121221 NIGHTLY). However, i find that the GPS doesn't pickup any satellites at all.
I went back to my stock ROM and found that the GPS was working fine. On reading some threads about similar problems, i tried downloading AGPS data but that too did not work.
I also flashed a AGPS Fix for HTC One X ver3.1 but that too didn't work.
Is somebody else having a similar experience ? Were you able to fix it ? Any help would be great... I hate to go back to a Sense ROM.
If you have one of the higher hboot versions, gps is npt functional at all.
If you however are not, try full wipe an reflash.

Thanks for that, I am on hboot 1.12 is that one of the higher ones ?
No, probably an issue with that certain release maybe?

I don't think so... I flashed a different nightly, a pre nightly a different ROM called CustoNexus. It has the same result.
Interestingly, while i am on the stock ROM, I have found enabling\disabling the mobile data connection makes a difference. If its disabled, the GPS will not find any satellite. I have tried a test alternatively, enabling, checking GPS, rebooting, disabling and checking 3 times. All the test show this to the case.
Any ideas why ?
Any ideas?
I'm also having this issue. I have used older nightlies from early December and an Gapps and neither work. I've tried a clean install, total wipe of phone and SD and still nothing. I really want to stick with CM10 but the GPS function is a real necessity for me so for now it's back to stock.
Hope there are some more updates on this soon.
Thanks
same issue here. GPS wont even turn on even though it's set to enabled.
Full wipe should do it if your hboot isn't 1.3x.

Im having the same problem my GPS doesnt work im on HBoot 1.12 Just installed Jellybam but GPS doesnt seem to work maybe I need a different boot.img or something
any help?
Full wipe doesnt work after installing rom does it?
No need for different boot.img on that hboot.

What could it be than?
I used AGPS Patcher (Google build)
Is that good cause it still aint working
I got it to work with Jellybam by flashing the boot.img inside the zip installing the rom and then go stand outside for a minute while it says "Searching for gps"
everything is working fine now

Since RC1, I've not been able to acquire a GPS lock. I just flashed RC3 and still have the same problem. No GPS icon is in the status bar and GPS Status cannot pick up any satellites. I've flashed Nightly #21 over my RC2 to get the GPS working, but I would like to keep RC3 as the nightly kept rebooting..
Has there been any fixes? Did a lot of searching but did not come up with an answer. Please help!

I have posted this before, this usually works for me:
I have found that if I leave my GPS ON before I flash a new nightly or ROM, that it works fine. I have only ran into the GPS issue a few times but that was because I had it off before I flashed a new build. Never messed switching RADIOs or anything.
Here is what I have done to fix issues:
-If I flashed a new CM7 Gingerbread ROM without GPS ON prior to the flash, I usually go back to CM6 and turn GPS ON and then reflash the CM7 ROM and it works.
-Yesterday had a strange issue though, I went to Flash a new CM7 nightly and sure enough I forgot to leave GPS ON. So I went back to CM6 and tried to turn GPS on and it didn't work. So I then Flashed one of the MIUI ROMs and that still didn't work. So then I tried Flashing the newest Nightly from CM again and it worked very wierd.
That has been my experience with this GPS issue. Some how I have managed to fix it myself without too much trouble. Hopefully this helps people with these issues.

I have noticed that just about every person having gps problems uses gps status. Uninstall gps status, reboot your phone into recovery and wipe the cache and then wipe the dalvik cache. Then after your phone reboots, go to applications (all) and clear the data for Maps. Then open Maps first.

You could try flashing RC3 again now, but you're probably going to need a full wipe/format. If you decide to do that, be sure to format system and format boot in mounts and storage of Recovery. Wiping data/factory reset doesn't touch the system files.
What does format boot and system actually affect? SD card will not be affected, correct?

Format system and format boot insures a complete clean install.
From the CyanogenMod Website:
Instructions:
First time flashing CyanogenMod 7 to the HTC Vision, or coming from another ROM?
Root the device and install ClockworkMod Recovery. Instructions are available here.
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
Format the system, data & cache partitions of your device.
Perform a factory reset.
Flash CyanogenMod.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.
correct...there is a separate option to format the sd card.
I did not get to do all the steps because I wanted to revert the radio back to .26 after flashing and using the .27 radio for some time. This did it for me. The GPS icon showed up in the status bar and everything worked. People should really try this method!
Thank you, regardless, for your help Edkeys! +1

Try reflashing your ROM and immediately reflash your .26 radio (The OTA TMO radio) and this should fix your GPS problems. It took me 3 days to fix my GPS after trying every other possible fix and this did it. Try it and let me know.
The only thing I did was flash back to my original stock nand and then back to cm7rc3 and get 100% gps lock. Only way I've been able to get it to work. Hoping it sticks when cm7 official comes out
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
What I did was reflash RC3 first with the GPS on. Then I reflashed the .26 radio cause I was using .27. Try all the methods above, and I hope it works out for you cause I know it sucks not having a working GPS on your SMARTphone.
I had the same problem of gps not working with CM7 (RC2 and 3).
The notification bar symbol wouldn't even come on, never mind get a lock.
I fixed it by flashing the 26.08.04.16 radio (was on the older 26.03.02.26 radio before).
This is driving me crazy. I have tried EVERYTHING I could find in everyones posts and I still can't get my gps back.
I even flashed back to the stock ROM and it won't even turn on there either.
Any other tricks? Or am I doing something wrong.
my radio right now is 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I would love to have my GPS back.
EDITED TO ADD: I just flashed Virtuous v1.0.1 and I still don't have GPS. lol

Confirmed with Rc4
Hi all,
I'm not able to let the GPS work with CM 7.1 Stable.
Here's my story:
I had CM 7.1 fully working, about 3 weeks ago.
I had battery issues then and I tried to upgrade to CM 7.2 RC1, but I did not test the GPS.
As battery charging issues still raised, I had to bring my mobile to HTC restoring to the stock ROM.
Once battery was fixed, I restored the backup with CM 7.2 RC1 and discovered that GPS was not working.
I read some posts here to downgrade CWM to 2.5.x and flash an older radio. I tried that and installed GPS Test with no luck. I re-flashed latest radio with no luck. I found a post telling to re-flash gapps, but not working.
As last step I formatted system, cache, data and installed CM 7.1 stable version, re-flashed latest radio, but GPS is still not working.
Do you have any idea of how I can fix it?
Thanks.
Try fastboot method for flashing radio. For some reason cwm method never worked for me.
Edit: Alternatively you can flash older radio. Just remember to check the radio version changes in your settings or not.

Thanks. I'll try that. What do you mean to check radio changes?
Try in settings/about phone and look for baseband version I think, it will most likely end in 20.10 and that's the most recent radio version.
The version before it ends with 19.25 (I think, it's been a while since I needed to flash the radio)
By "radio changes" he means check the version before flashing and after to be sure it flashed correctly.

Ah, ok. I always check after flashing and everytime I flash I get correct version in settings

Is there any log file I can check why GPS is not working?

It's not working because of the radio, it's an old bug. Something seems to stick in the radio partition when flashing cm7.
Another method that works is to flash any sense rom that has gps working, download Google maps, go outside and let Google maps get a good fix on your position then without touching any settings power off and flash cm7 again or restore a nandroid.
The log is called a logcat, either type adb logcat into a command prompt or Google qtadb for another method I know nothing about.

So, is any sense ROM valid? Should I wipe/format anything before or after flashing ROM or restoring my backup?
Thanks.
Ideally you should wipe system and data before flashing any rom.
There are a few sense roms available here like kwbr, rempuzzle (requires sd-ext) and older ones like jokerdroid. Alternatively you can flash a safe zip of stock rom. You can find all this info and related in the wildfire index in the development section.

Any sense rom with known working GPS, rempuzzle will work fine.
Wipe data,cache and dalvik cache.
Flash sense rom.
Download/open Google maps then let it get a good fix on your position.
Pop out the battery and reboot to recovery.
Wipe data,cache and dalvik cache.
Flash cm7 again.
All should be fine then. I've used all 3 of the methods for fixing the gps and have found flashing the radio by cwm method the most unreliable, fast boot and using the sense way seems to work everytime.

Hi all,
I confirm that everything is fully working, by flashing kwbr ROM, running GPS and restoring my CM7 backup.
that seems a little bit weird, but thanks for your support, really.
It's because the radio partition is separate to the rest, it can't be wiped like the others and a particular setting seems to stick which is incompatible with cm7. I think. Anyway glad you got it working mate! Enjoy.

That method didn't work for me.
I flashed Rempuzzle, then launched Google Maps, but nothing happened. So I decided to downgrade radio using the method described in the Wildfire index. Launched Maps and... TaDa! GPS was working. Then installed aGPS patch by crypted and now is running like hell.
Hope this helps.
Had the same problem. Reflashed radio and it works like a charm. Thanks guys.
This started happening a while ago (app crashing) on a different rom, and since then I've tried the following with no success;
New rom
New kernel
Full wipe
New gapps (not required on my current rom)
relocked and unlocked bootloader, upgraded from 0.95 to 1.28
Nothing seems to be working on any rom, and now I have just got out of a battery bootloader bootloop the past couple days my phone seems also unable to handle connections; I supposedly have signal however I receive no texts, data connection isn't working as my gmail account has not been synced (so I have no contacts etc) and wifi crashes when I turn it on.
I'm starting to worry this may be a hardware fault! However considering I have unlocked my bootloader I won't be able to return it under warranty! Can you suggest anything else to try? I haven't fully wiped my whole storage (sd card and all) is that an option to try?
Thanks for any help I can get
bump, really stuck here
If you you are using an AOSP Rom a special kernel is required for the new HBoot. Or has this happened on the old HBoot too? If so a hard reset might solve the problem.

Yeah I am using an AOSP rom but it happened on HBOOT 0.95 and still on 1.28. Is that a factory reset from the bootloader? Also which kernel is it? I just used the boot.img included in the zip
You can do it from the bootloader. Essentially its just wiping everything including the sd storage. I dont have much time to look for it right now because im working. But if you use the search function you should find it have you tried to redownload the rom?

This is the rom I'm using atm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784185 (CM is based on AOSP right?)
and is this the kernel you're talking about? http://htcfanboys.com/download/seadersn/?action=view&file=14552 ? However don't I also
need the zip to flash in CWM?
Yes it is an AOSP Rom, but you dont need the the modified kernel because tripnraver solved the problem in his kernels and Rom. Since you have the problem on other ROMs too i would suggest to perform a hard reset and see if the problem still exists. Just backup everything and reflash Rom.

I might try this AOKP rom that I used before, according to the OP there is a specific boot.img you must use for HBOOT 1.28, so I've downloaded that to and when I get home I'll give it a try. It says a full wipe is required, does that just mean cache/dalvik/wipe in CWM or do I need to run the SuperWipe.zip?

Hello peeps!
I would be after some advice to help me figure out what the hell is up with Google Now!
First of all here is my setup... Stock JB (3.14.707.24), Unlocked Bootloader, CWM Recovery. (Tried some custom ROMs but found them a little unstable on my device, although tried plenty of ROMs while on ICS without problems)
Now, Google Now seemed to work fine, until I restored a Nandroid Backup. That, as far as I'm aware, shouldn't have caused a problem as the phone seems to be running as was before I installed a custom ROM. I "long press Home", Google Now opens, I get the commute card but nothing else. I can ask it things, such as weather and other searches that usually return a spoken reply, but nothing! It just brings up regular search results.
I have tried... Clearing data, uninstalling updates, signing out then back in to Google, disabling then re-enabling location services, changing language (using More Locale 2 from Play Store) back and forth between UK and US... Nothing seems to work. I didn't swipe my weather card away, it just ceased to appear. I have searched the web to find out if there was a problem with Googles' servers, but there doesn't appear to be.
Short of reinstalling the official RUU, which I'm not convinced will do the trick, I'm at a total loss for ideas, so I put it to the floor! Can anyone suggest anything that I haven't tried!
Thanks so much in advance!
Did you wipe your system and cache before installing the nandroid backup??
Im not sure whether that will do the trick... But its worth a try.

I'm pretty sure I did... I always make a point of performing a full wipe before installing either a ROM or backup, but perhaps I'll have another go. I might even bite the bullet and try a complete RUU install as I have everything backed up via My Backup Pro anyway. Will see what I can do on my next day off work!
Thanks for the advice.
Also which ROM are you using?

I'm on stock, just unlocked with CWM installed. No SU, no Busybox, no nothing. I doubt the recovery is causing the issue. I had tried ARHD 17.1 and Renovate 11 but both seemed to cause issues so I went back to stock via a Nandroid backup. May have another crack at a custom ROM, if that doesn't satisfy, I'll probably flash the RUU and see if that does the trick.
Fingers crossed! At least I haven't bricked the phone yet!

About a week ago my just wifi and tether stopped working.
What happens:
When attempting to "toggle on" toggle will switch from on then back to off after several minutes sometimes the toggle will grey out
Things I have done to try to fix it:
-Factory data reset
-Reflashed ROM
-Flashed different kernals
-Flashed different radios
-Flashed different ROMS everything from cm7 to cm10 and sense based roms
Additional info:
Wifi and tether were working the night before, my battery was low so my phone died with tether still on. I plugged it in and left it alone until the next morning
ROM I was using at the time: Andromadus Mimicry 1.5 w Aero14

If the wifi *never* works, it may be that your kernel driver for the wifi device is either not installed or doesn't match the current kernel. If it works some of the time then fails, it's probably broken hardware.
Fixing the kernel problem means you'll need to find a kernel update zip and flash it in recovery. See the dev forum to find one
