I think its not a hardware problem.
I have also experienced it when i tried cm10-6, so i just reverted to cm9-rc6 since its very stable.

hi, im not sure if anyone else has encountered this problem, but ive had my desire hd for a few weeks now and its been working great. i rooted and flashed with hd revolution and again everything worked great.
now today i flashed an updated verison of that rom and when it had rebooted i noticed that the whole screen is suddenly not being used. a few milimeters on the right hand side and top of the screen and the image is slightly squashed to fit into that space.
i rebooted a few times and did a battery pull before thinking it must be a bug in the new build of that room and restored the room i backed up just before upgrading. but the problem is is there :/
not only that is present on all boot levels, so when your booting its there and in fastboot or recovery :/
could this be a hardware problem? has anyone else encountered this?
sorry if ive not explained this very well
thanks
must be a bug... what i suggest is do a full wipe and then flash a fresh rom...see if that solves ur problem doode

If you download the PD98IMG.zip for the downgrade thread and place on your SDcard, boot into bootloader (not recovery) your phone will restore itself to HTC stock firmware.
Hi XDA,
As you can see my Attached Thumbnails, when I use the camera apps(build-in CM7 Camera and other camera apps), there are some black line in the preview mode but the photo I taken didn't have these black line. This situation is only happen in CM7 ROM, the officual ROM doesn't have these problem. In the past I flashed CM7.1 into my gio phone, I got the same black line problem when I playing the video.
can somebody please help me to solve it?
THX
Sorry for my bad English
If you have this problem only in the camera, then these are the "guidelines" , which are to help you when taking a photo. You have to search for them and turn it off at the camera's settings.

I don't think this black lines are the "guidelines" because I reboot the phone, the black lines will disappeared. However, when I idle the phone a while and open the camera, the black lines are come back. Also I got the same black lines when I playing the videos(especially in CM7.1)
Now I back to use the official ROM.
Its a total diverend isue and has nothing to do with your camera.
It has something to do with your screen, not that the screen is defective but something with the drivers.
There is no fix for it, not that i am aware of.....
Are you install it right according the installation guide ?
Have you tried to reinstall ?
Anyway, which version of Gio do you use ? the GT-S5660 or SHW-M290S/K one ?
CM7 only support Gt-S5660 version

Try CM7.2 and see how is it. Remember to Wipe factory reset after installing Rom. If it repaired, try stock ROM like gingerbread and let us know how it is going

I done it long time ago but the problem continued in CM7.2
Stock ROM is fine
I had a similar problem with CM7.1, exept it wasn't black lines, but semi transparent squares. It happened, after I installed a camera app (don't remember, which one). Did you install any app that uses your camera? (My problem went away after installing 7.2)

I installed camera360 and little photo
Did you change the battery before using the camera??? I discovered that it may make the transparent squares happened.
Now the problem still happened after install the patches.

No i havent tried wiping only because i hate resetting my launcher up after a backup but i think i have no choice now . i will give it ago and let u know how it all goes
SOLVED
I simply deleted the last photo i took in my gallery and it fixed everything! The image was quite blue and im not sure what or how it happened anyway i think it was corrupted in someway .
This has been happening for a week or so now and I can't seem to work out why! It seems random that when I open the messaging app it just crashes, then sometimes that seems to cause a chain reaction and everything starts crashing meaning I have to reset it with the power button. The problem tends to persist unless I power down, wait and turn the phone back on. I didn't have the problem on the rom for a long time (Jellybean 4.1.2 for Endeavoru AOSP Build [JZO54K]) it just seemingly started happening at random. I tried a new rom with a new boot.img (aokp_endeavoru-ICJ-V3.4) which seemed to hold the problem off for a few hours but now its started on that one! I've also ruled out any apps because I made sure I didn't restore anything from my gmail account.
Any ideas?

Cheers for the quick reply man,

Apps are still crashing and the phone didnt appear with a reinstall i'm just gonna go to a new rom I think, maybe that Android revolution one
Recently I noticed that every photo I take, are low in details and over exposures
I dont know what cause it, I changed roms several times before I notice it, and after I noticed it, changing roms back to stock's, or custom ones, didnt fix it at all
In the attachment, I included a sample
Another strange thing is, even after I reflashed the stock kdz using lg flasher, some of apps from the previous roms still exist
Can someone help me ?
Thanks

Try flashing 4.1 first and then 4.4 KDZ.

I think I found the problem, overexposure happens when flash is in "Auto" and "On" modes
but If the flash is set on "torch" mode in opencamera (only opencamera supports this mode), there isnt any overexposure at all
any solutions beside reflashing 4.1 kdz ?
