Hello everyone, this week will buy the galaxy note 2 and I have some questions
It 'a good phone in terms of modding? I did on my galaxy y flasharci above all else, and even after the brick are always managed to reflash with odin everything, even when it seemed hard bricked, you can say the same notes 2?
My main interest are the root permissions, nothing cooked rom, no kernel, looks like a phone quite fluid and powerful, there is some risk in getting root permissions? methods are simple and not risky? I had the Asus TF300 and it was a very bad experience, bootloader locked, impossible to recover the guarantee after modding, plus the APA to unlock the bootloader was sought in connection to send the asus serial number and then remove the guarantee for good, in short, a mess in terms of modding, not to speak of having flashed cwm of the app by google play that I was definitely brickato all (no adb, no fastboot, no apx, I had to send in care)
So I think you all understand that I need some reassurance, the phone costs a lot and I would not make a bad deal.
Is there something similar to that nvflash face become your phone with the appropriate steps Brickproof (inbrickabile)?
Thanks in advance, see you soon
No. There is a very little chance of a hard brick.
Just make sure you update to dll7 or newer rom.

To regain warranty-
1) factory reset (to remove any apps that require root)
2) flash stock rom (to reflash stock recovery and kernel and undo any modifications done by rooting )
3) root (to use triangle away)
4) triangle away (to reset counter)
5) flash stock rom (to unroot)
6) delete triangle away and supersu if it is there.

I like to comment some modification
1. Later
2 . just flash stock kernel /recovery if custom kernel/refovery is there otherwise skip
3.no need, still rooted
4.yes triangle away
5.yes stock rom flash
6.wipe
This will be more clean and won't have any recursive of root/previous rom. As well bypass some steps

Sorry if you misunderstood me, i never said it was wrong.
Procedure is same like you said, i have just modify sequence so
it will cut off 3 steps
-1 time flashing stock ROM instead of two (1 time just flashing stock recovery/kernel, and that also if needed)
-No need to reroot
-No need to delete SuperSu and triangle away
So this will take 10 min less than steps you have said, as well it won't have any leftover b'coz wiping at last.
Isn't ?

Is it already possible to root the device without affecting the "binary counter"(yellow triangle)?
Please paste links to the currently best rooting-method(s).
At present available method (flashing recovery) will raise counter. Newer device s3,note 2 etc not allowing test signed files from stock recovery, so I don't think without raising counter it will be possible to root.

The S2 Galaxy had the same problem with rooting but someone came up with a way of gaining temp root and then
flashing a root kernel which bypassed the counter, as this device is so new it might take a little time to work out
the correct method.

You need to choose what you want:
1. Have root and forget about OTA`s and Kies and use CWM and PC/Mobile Odin or
2. Stay on stock firmware and forget about root all together.
You can`t have it both ways mate
You will never be able to install OTA`s if you are rooted as you have a custom recovery.

If you want to be completely stock without losing data....
First odin flash cf auto root for stock recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980644
Then download supersu again

Run triangle away as root
Then go to super su and full unroot
0 flash counter
Stock recovery
Unrooted
Profit.
If your device Status is Modified.... Factory Reset will make it Official.Soooo Unless you need to return your phone, leave it alone.
Always make a stock rooted backup whenever you root and you can revert back to stock in minutes without factory reset
This took me 2 hours to figure without losing apps or data. So hit the thanks if it helped

if you use TA under root, doesn't it force an auto reboot? How do you get the SU to do full unroot then?
Yes, once you do TA it reboots in a recovery and warns you tge resets counter. Does not factory reset just restarts and clears counter.
Under supersu if you scroll down to the bottom of options ut wilk say full unroot.

One quick question. ..
Okay so if I DID make a stock rooted nandroid backup before I flashed custom rom and kernal and I wanted to just completely unroot and go back to stock everything, then all I would have to do is just flash back to the nandroid I made, then run triangle away, delete any root apps, then click unroot in SuperUser and I should be good to go if I have to take the phone in for warranty? And will it be in that exact order? Or should I just run triangle away then factory reset and flash official stock rom? Is that basically the same? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks

1. Factory unlock needed? Is there a different root procedure ( wouldnt be suprised)
2. The possibility of hardbricking, high or low.
3. Can I restore a backup of a different version of android if possible, and do i just need to wipe cache etc to flash the same version of android.

1. Factory unlock...? The easiest way (at least for me) was using Odin to inject root into stock ROM.
2. As with any tinkering/modding with any Android device, there is always a risk of hard bricking, but if you follow the procedures carefully, you shouldn't run into any issues.
3. Not sure what you really mean, but as i always say, it's always best to flash fresh (full wipe)
hope this helps, good luck!
1) unlock not needed but if you want u can do it for free; check general section
2) less possibility of hard bricking unless u flash rom for different phone ; dont forget to backup imei number ; high possibility of loosing it.
3) restore from diffwrent version highly not recommend if you want bug free phone.
And that is how you turn you're soon to be rooted phone into a rocket ship with fireworks coming out of it!
With rainbow sprinkles!

Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Umm, the clockwork recovery? It stays forever.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Hey man. Welcome over to this side of the fence.
The Recovery gets saved into the recovery partition and will stay until you switch it out with another (TWRP) or stock. So that is a non-issue.
Being a fellow ex-Vibe user, I understand your questions. Same as the Vibrant you can flash/restore laterally and not have any issues as long as you wipe, reset, usual stuff. But also same as the Vibrant, you should not go from ICS to JB or JB 4.2 and back without a clean install (can always upgrade but going back is where issues come into play). And by clean install I mean Odin to reset the proper partitions. That is another thing. You should probably update your Odin. There is a thread around here with it or just get your Google on.
If you are on stock TWiz, you can use (your recently updated) Odin to flash mrRobinson's Root66 and it will be stock ROM but with Root. Way easier than the Update.zip scene we had on the Vibrant.
Another thing is that the internal is set up differently. The internal is set up as a /data/media partition. This means that if you Factory Reset with the Stock recovery, you will effectively wipe your whole internal SD. However, if you use CWR or TWRP, they won't wipe your internal SD unless you Format Data. I learned that the hard way on my tablet about a year ago.
Good luck

Its not the only way to root it, but if you do it that way you won't lose things in your SD anyway, only your data like apps and stuff.. An easier way is to just flash clockwork mod and flash superuser which will give you root, it will however trip your flash counter.. I've done it both ways

Here I've made all possible automatic updates and my fw is 4.1.2 N7100XXDLK7.

Hi, what does it mean ? Is it for warranty or ?
It would be covered under warranty untill u dont flash any zips which will raise the binary counter to claim warranty you could unroot ur device factory reset no signs of root and you can claim it.

yes,
actually if you root any latest ROM with conventional method (CF auto root/CWM) that will raise flash counter and voids warranty untill you reset flash counter. for newbies or who scare to root or finding hard to root and reset counter, i have made pre rooted ROM, which is nothing but same samsung stock ROM + root file pushed in ROM so you will need not to root and hence no need to reset counter.
