So am running stock 4.1.2 rooted and suddenly phone restarts and gets stuck at Samsung bootscreen
Factory reset and cache wipe from recovery didnt help
Tried to odin flash a firmware (4.1.2) odin says failed and never starts the flashing
Then I tried a 4.1.1 flashed perfectly. Though at first boot, it gets stuck at the working android logo and keeps restarting
what could be the problem ?

Is the handset rooted?
If so you need to download samsung note 2 toolkit. this is here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923956
ensure you have the correct adb drivers but the toolkit can also do this aswell. you then need to put the system into recovery mode. (I assume you know how to boot up recovery.) You need to install a customer recovery specifically TWRP so boot up the toolkit. select your device and make sure you choose the current version of android you have on it not the version you wish to install. You then need to flass an insecure boot image for correct adb access so choose option 3, follow the instructions select TWRP as your recovery and complete as directed.
Once this has finished you then need to download your rom, if its stock it can be located here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032849 for n7105 (lte version) and here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696 for original.
Download the zip and place into the "push_files_here" of the toolkit folders.
Boot into your new twrp recovery
Reload the toolkit, choose your device, choose the option to push the file to your device, select the device, for destination type"/sdcard/" and follow onscreen options until file is finished.
Your file should now be on your phone in the home folder.
Go to "wipe", select "factory reset" now to "install" select your new spangly rom, wipe dalvik cache once completed and wala you should have one shiny new rooted odexed note 2 that sould load fine. Any issues get back to me and i will be happy to help.
I deliberately bricked my device about 8 times to find the best way to recover.

Did you try the method i mentioned using the note 2 toolkit. You need to have a customer recovery and bootloader to install certain thinkgs. Try the noet 2 toolkit and follow the instructions i sent you. This should fix it.
Put stock rom in pda and pit in partition and check repartition.
Then hit start
this is XXXDDDAAA
nothing solved it ... sent it to samsung they fixed it. they said they changed the internal memory and an ic ...

Hi, I'm new here & I've been searching countless hours through the forums & Google trying to find my answer but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
This is my first time I ever "root" my Android device, I've had experience in jailbreaking my iPhone in the past but nowadays even a baby can do it.
The thing is, I was following these guides here trying to flash this Jelly Bean rom:

I have a T-Mobile T999 Model so I got that nailed down.
When I boot into that recovery whatever I get a different screen than the one presented on this screen:
*picture 1
==========================================
When I'm around that step I get :
"Volume up/down to move highlight;
power button to select. (though in the tutorial it says home? wtf?)
reboot system now
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apple update from cache
==========================================
That's all I get, though in the tutoral it says:
"Copy the downloaded zip files from step 3 and step 4 to the internal SD card. Do not extract them."
&
"Select install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard. Scroll to the ROM file on the SD card and select it. Confirm installation by selecting Yes – Install _____.zip on the next screen. The ROM will start installing."
Though, the thing is. I don't have "Install zip from sdcard" just some big ol' robot in the background with some wierd stuff in his chest like blue wires. What happened?

You are still on stock recovery. You need custom recovery to flash roms. To get a custom recovery use odin. Found here-- http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168421&d=1341114315
Download one of the attached recoveries and load in PDA slot of odin.
When you open ODIN, there will be 2 boxes checked. F.Reset Time and Auto Reboot. I recommend that you uncheck Auto Reboot so only F.Reset Time is checked. When the flash is complete,(green box says PASS!) your phone will not reboot by itself. From there Hold Vol-Up+Home+Power and boot straight to recovery.
Once you boot into custom recovery, flash this to root your current rom http://k0nane.info/rom/ecm/TeamEpic-Root-from-Recovery-v5.zip.
Alternatively, you can just skip to flashing your CM10 rom (after a nandroid backup of course)

Hello!
I've done this Odin portion already, I've already gotten past the Odin "PASS" & all that good stuff. The thing is, when I do Vol-Up+Home+Power I'm I'm shown only this:
reboot system now
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apple update from cache
I am not doing Vol-Down-Home-Power since that's just the other recovery correct?
The question is .. do I need a Sdcard to flash a rom into my galaxy s3? cause I don't have one..
Edit:
This is the recovery mode screen I'm shown when I do Volume-Up-Home-Power:
www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=UxaVXJJdhhk
I don't have that model it's just showing you the recovery screen I get. I'm guessing it's not the custom one?
Use Odin and CWM from my signature.
I got it, I know what's wrong to anyone else having this problem.
To those that applied the Samsung update - samrung overrides the recovery if you don't remove the battery!

And I'm fairly certain you need a sdcard to flash ROMs.
You don't need an external sd to flash roms.

Hi
i figured out how to update my original firmware of 4.1.1 on my Note 2 N7105 LTE to 4.1.2 by downloading this tar.md5 (N7105XXDLL4_N7105TMHDLK8_TMH) through Odin
and it seemed to work because in "about device" it says im running 4.1.2 and it also seems to be a REALLY annoying European T-Mobile version because of the short and LOUD t-mobile video every single time i open and close my phone.
I also installed CWM-based Recovery v6.0.1.5-jb which works perfectly (thank god)
now when i tried to boot the deodexed rom for N7105XXDLL4 through recovery via sd card. everything seems fine i can choose all the options in sequence and when i get to the end it tries to install (percentage bar) but stops very quickly and reboots me to recovery mode...the first time i did that it forced me to restore from backup (because it wouldnt boot at all) and the second time i did it it made me reboot and the samsung logo appeared followed by "android is upgrading 0 to 162" I WAS SUPPPPER HAPPPPY!! but i was crossing my fingers...low and behold the phone did boot but all the fonts and everything else were EXTREMELY tiny and a message kept popping up saying SystemSU has closed or something..
I obviously restored back to t-mobile 4.1.2 (hungarian)
Is there something wrong im doing during the installation? should i try and upload it through odin or something instead of through my sd card??and how do you do that?? i mean it cant be the wrong deodexed because i chose the first one for xxdll4 and it the installation does boot on my phone..
i mean everything looks great except for the fact that it stops at the beginning of installation and reboots me to recovery prematurely....
ANY HELP???!!!! THANKS!!!

in the end i want 4.1.2 and a custom rom to replace the 4.1.2 tmobile that i already have. and obviously keep some sorth recovery (i already have cwm) other than android recovery 3e.
when i boot recovery mode when i go to wipe data/factory reset
i dont have an option to erase all except sd card...
how do i install twrp?? where is it? and what is it??
install what update using TWRP?? the custom rom?? or another 4.1.2 update??
sorry im trying to understand all this....
TWRP is other kind of recovery. Try a fredh install using it.

Reboot recovery

You need to post more info if possible but it sounds like you are trying to downgrade from MA7 to an earlier firmware like LK8. The update included a security patch so it won't let you go back to insecure. Try pulling the sboot out of whatever you are trying to flash or stick with MA7

It's not brick cuz odin can still see your phone. If you dont have TWRP on it, go to www.twrp.com and download the tar file for sprint note 2. Then use Odin to flash it. Once you are done that, go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769 to get either the old LJC or MA7 and put it in your phone either internal or external SD. Do the wipe cache/factory reset first. Then flash it. It will go back to stock rom.
Help
Hello even though its old I figured I would post here first instead of starting a new thread, my friend has a Note 2 for Sprint never rooted or custom ROM flashed and he said it was sitting on the charger and when he woke up in the morning it was off and after attempting to power the device on it stays stuck on the Samsung logo. I cant get Kies to recognize the device at all not matter what pc is use however it shows up in Odin but it fails everything from stock files ( older and current ) , different versions of Odin, recoveries and I even tried a " unbrick .tar file " . Any help at all would be appreciated I will include pics

Can you odin a custom recovery and boot into it?
1. Put phone in download mode
2. In odin program uncheck reboot and flash recovery
3. After flash disconnect phone and pull battery
4. Quickly insert and remove battery multiple times (if you just reinsert battery it will automatically boot)
5. Boot phone into recovery backup any important data that is on your internal sdcard
6. Do factory reset then flash billards stock mc2 with counter reset (do not wipe cache after flashing this)
7. Flash superuser zip found in billards Op
8. Reboot phone and freakout when see the screen do odd things and reboot (this is normal)
Now it will bootup on stock rooted mc2.

Ok, I rooted my T-Mobile Samsung G3 via odin and CF-Auto-root with no problem. I then loaded 2 different custom roms using ClockworkMod rom manager without any issue. On the 3rd rom I tried though it now sticks on the my little pony from hell "Initiating Swagger" screen. At this point I am not sure which mod is the one that failed, since using rom manager loads the info to my phone not my computer.
The only screens I can get on the phone is the idin screen and the system recovery screen with 5 options:
1. reboot system now
2. apply update from external storage
3. wipe data/factory rest
4. wipe cache partition
5. apply update from cache
After reading the 4 or so posts on Initiating Swagger that were phones that were a different phone I am even more confused. I d/l a few different custom roms and tried installing them via Odin3 with no luck. (converted the .img file to tar file using Samsung Galaxy S3 toolkit then installed via pda mode in Odin) Can anyone explain the steps I need to take to get back to a booting phone either stock or a working rom?

You are not doing things properly...
Get the TMo stock ROM and flash with ODIN, and post back once you're up and running again.
Here is the step you take: wipe data/factory reset.
Also, get rid of the stock recovery.
And stop messing with Odin before you brick your phone

OP if you PM me your Gtalk, I'll help you...
I woke up this morning to my phone perpetually rebooting.
I was running a nightly of CM 11.
Now when I try to go into Recovery I get a screen that asks for a password. I have no idea what that password is as I did not set one. I tried wiping data to no avail. I tried flashing a new recovery via Odin this did not work (Odin said successful but the screen on the phone never showed the transfer of the file). No matter what wipe method I use in recovery it just says fail, doesn't work at all and hangs or will say it can't mount. I have searched and searched and tried and tried and I'm stuck. I even tried ADB that didn't work either. Please help!

Did you unchecked F . reset and unchecked auto reboot when you flashed recovery in Odin? After you flash the file you have to pull the battery then replace it and boot to recovery do not allow the phone to boot to OS or you have to flash again as your recovery will only stick if you pull the battery and boot to recovery after flashing it. After you get into it the first time all will be well with the world again you can flash your heart out.
I had twrp ask me for a password once I hit the back arrow key and told it to mount my external SD card then flashed my rom, bootloader, kernel and modem then rebooted no problem.

This did not work. When I use ODIN all that is happening is that ODIN says it has succeeded but the little progress bar that usually shows up on the phone when you are in download mode never comes up. I did try this method though and it didn't work.
I restarted the phone in ODIN mode then opened ODIN then connected the USB cable then unchecked the two boxes you mentioned then flashed a new non TWRP recovery then waited for ODIN to say successful then the phone never showed the progress bar so I waited 2 mins until I pulled the battery then I restarted phone directly to recovery and still have the password prompt. Even after hitting cancel I cannot interact with recovery because every option I choose just says fail. I cannot even mount external sd card.
What phone do you have? What was the most recent stock ROM on your phone? Maybe you can flash a stock ROM.
There is a copy of the stock Samsung 3e recovery (which we can't use to flash zips with) I'm curious if maybe it can overwrite what you have going on? On the password screen I wasn't hitting cancel I was simply hitting the back arrow key. I will see if I have a copy of the stock recovery, just maybe you can flash it then flash another recovery after that so you can fix your phone.

I have Samsung Galaxy S 3 At&T (d2att) SGH-I747 whichever one of those you want. The most recent stock rom on the phone was when I bought it brand new a few months after it came out. I tried installing a stock rom. I tried this using ODIN and it failed. The issue here is that TWRP somehow encrypted the entire file system so NOTHING at all in recovery works. When I use ODIN mode it never shows on my phone that it is accepting a transfer from the computer. When I tried the stock rom via ODIN method it actually failed in ODIN instead of telling me it succeeded and then just not work. It failed at the point when it says Firmware Update Start...aboot.mbn...NAND Write Start!...Complete(Write) operation failed. I am up for any suggestions but I need them to be detailed instructions because I have tried so many things I need to know what exact steps to follow.
I believe the aboot file is a bootloader. Did you ever have a stock 4.3 ROM on the phone? If you did, it probably has the stock 4.3 AT&T bootloader which cannot be downgraded without bricking the phone which means you cannot flash a ROM with an older bootloader via Odin.

To my knowledge I never had a stock 4.3 ROM on the phone. The only stock ROM to touch this phone was the one that came on it. So be specific what are you actually suggesting in this post that I do?

I am surprised that the aboot file was giving you a problem because the bootloader can be downgraded as long as it is not a 4.3 bootloader.
Do you recall exactly which ROM was on the phone when you got it? Where did you get the stock ROM?

It was a CM11 Nightly ROM from the very beginning of February. And before that it was a CM10.2 Stable ROM.
Which stock ROM was on your phone before you loaded a custom ROM?

I have no idea. It was when I first got the phone in November of 2012.
Sounds like your phone may be running a 4.3 bootloader which means your bootloader is locked and cannot be downgraded. This may explain why you are getting errors when trying to flash Odin. There is no stock AT&T 4.3 ROM that can be flashed via Odin.
