You can mount it via usb to your computer, put a rom on your sd, go in abs rewipe cache, dalvik, data, and system and flash your rom. Bam good to go.
I do this once in a while to get rid of old system files. Different roms and apps use internal storage so after a month or two you can free up a good gig

[q] need help with odin possibly

While performing a ROM change, I ran into this problem: Using TWRP 2.4.1 i got into recovery and did a clean install as usual. Wipe internal storage, factory reset, system, dalvik, and cache, and format data. Done this plenty of times , with never a problem. Today however, when i went to install from external storage, my phone is not seeing the sd card. I can still boot into TWRP, so I tried formating card, then tried 4 different sd cards, but no luck with phone mounting sd card. How do I get an operating system back on this? ODIN? Please advise. Thank you

Use Odin to flash. Then put the rom on internal storage and flash.

Internal SD wipe ok?

I just got an extended battery and wanted to wipe my internal SD so I can have a clean start and flash revolt with lightning kernel. I have no access to a computer. Would it be safe to put the ROM on my SD then wipe internal, then flash all in one recovery session? Thanks
It is probably ok. Although just to be sure I would stick a reboot in between.

But if I reboot I wouldn't be able to get back into recovery though right? Or would it not wipe that part?
If you just wipe internal only you still have a rom. If you format system your rom is gone. And you can just reboot recovery its much faster. You can go ahead and try it all at once. Worst outcome is you reflash the rom. No biggie

Yeah I just wanted to do a complete internal SD wipe, I didn't want to get locked out with no recovery. I'll wipe, then reboot then wipe ROM I guess then flash

If you go to settings/storage and format your internal, it will wipe it clean, but you'll still have your ROM.Just did it the other day.

Thanks guys. It's just internal SD, not sure why I was thinking about the internal phone storage.

Well to me internal phone storage is internal sd card. The reason I didnt say for you to wipe that in setting is because I was unsure of the rom. As far as I can remember some stock roms had the brick bug still in it if you access the wipe by settings> storage.

Either way, I'm on a night shift and tired as hell, didn't think it through haha. Thanks for the help

Have you made any backups? backups by default are stored internally and each one takes around 3gb... check your cwm folder on your internal storage with a file manager... honestly Ive never had to do anything extreme to free up space.. all ive done is browse the internal and find what exactly is taking up space.
Debloat and remove any system apps you dont use or wont need. and while minimal you can also delete ringtones, alarms and notifications youll never use.
you can also use foldermount to move game and app data n such to the external sd card.
as far as the bootanimation its easy enough to replace by moving the bootanimation zips over manually with a file manager, set permissions, and reboot. no flashing necessary.
ty 4 your response

The CWM backup folder is pretty well hidden unless you know where to look for it... system root-> /data/media/clockworkmod. That is more than likely what's eating your space; in fact, I would be almost positive that is where your space has gone. Either way, factory resets are safe, just realize that you lose ALL your apps + data. Anything saved on your EXTERNAL sd card are safe and won't be deleted though.

do i need a rom?
or just go into cwm and do that?
btw is that what he means when he says "format emmc and wipe it clean"??
i heard doing this will brick your phone, so what r the safest steps on doing this?

You just need clockwork. You'll see the choices in the menus.
It is not what he meant by telling you to erase your emmc. He was teasing you cause doing a wipe is pretty basic.

is this the kernel i want to flash after the custom rom or stock rom?
|KERNEL||STOCK|| Boot.img & Modules M919 UVUAMDB & UVUAMDL || Updated 5|08
or is there more then one?
ive flashed custom roms before i just never flashed a kernel with them.
MY phone again is a ROOTED Stocked SG4 SGH-M919 MDL T-Mobile with touch CWM.
BTW i cant install anything else on my phone is it ok to put the apps on external sd card without using TiBu?
Also would i need a kernel to flash the Death Star Rom?
i tried flashing the Wicked Rom but it stuck on the samsung s4 logo so i replace it at t-mobile with another which i have now

[Q] How to "format" the phone?

Hi everyone,
I've been using a rooted galaxy nexus for two years (mostly on vanir rom). The last few months the phone has been operating really slowly. I'm sure some of that is due to age, but I'm trying to find out how to do the computer equivalent of formatting my phone and starting fresh again. Is it simply by wiping my "sd card" in TWRP, or is there a more effective way of doing it?
Thanks!

Yeah that solves it. But locking and unlocking the bootloader will do the trick too. This will wipe all data!

is there another option except unlocking and locking?
when i format via TWRP it still keeps so many old folders and \1\ folders from past roms installations

Thanks for your help. If i lock and unlock the bootloader will I have to go through the whole process again as when I originally unlocked my phone (ie installing super user, twrp, etc)?

Can't you just go into Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset?
And if you want to wipe SD card too then Settings > Storage > Erase USB storage
Or wipe Dalvik, Cache, Data, Internal Storage from recovery and that will clear everything out.
nexus doesnt have sd card, only internal
and all what u wrote doesnt erase everything
usb mount
i have gotten accustom to using a .micro usb. to a .female usb. cord to mount a flash drive.
it will give you another option of flashing when something goes wrong
why dont you try to clean your chace first, wipe the chace and dalvik chace, also you can try clean install a new rom beside you wont got all your stuff gone
