Gmail pinch-to-zoom works improperly on S3 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Gmail's much-heralded pinch-to-zoom feature doesn't work properly on the S3.
Unlike every other device running JB with the latest Gmail app (4.2.1 as of today), pinch-to-zoom does not reflow text on the S3.
On the S3, if you enable "Auto-fit messages" in Gmail's General settings, you can pinch to zoom. So far so good. A double-tap after zooming just unzooms -- BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT IT SHOULD DO.
On all other devices running Gmail 4.2.1, a double-tap after pinch-to-zoom reformats (reflows) the text to fit the screen width at the new text size (Confirmed on half a dozen devices, including Nexus 4, old Galaxy S Captivate running Cyanogenmod JB 4.2, ASUS Transformer tablet running JB 4.1, no-name Chinese tablet running JB 4.1). But on the S3 the doubletap just unzooms. Boo!
On the Galaxy S3 there seems to be no way to make the text reflow (reformat) after pinch-to-zoom in Gmail -- so you have to scroll left / right to read -- very unpleasant.
Anyone have any input on this?

It seems the app is a bit half baked, I've read this in a few articles since acquisition of Sparrow. Hopefully in more updates the patch that will make it not suck will arise.

Galaxy Nexus Browser Text Reflow with Auto-Fit

If "Auto-fit pages" is checked in the browser advanced settings, text reflows & the browser adjusts text so that it is displayed in a column with blank (white space) on webpages. If you then double tap the text zooms in and it is displayed formatted properly to the screen.
I have tried to explore all settings & have tried to search for answer as this is really frustrating.
Any help & guidance will be greatly appreciated. How do I fix this so that text is displayed properly?
Thanks!!

Thanks, made a small change to my post!!
Sooo uncheck the auto fit box???
Personally I hate that ICS doesn't reflow like previous Android, on demand when you do zoom in/out.

if you uncheck that box & double tap to zoom the text doesn't fit the screen and you have to scroll to the sides to read.
I have tried dolphin browser & am facing the same problem there as well.

Ok yeah, it's an ICS issue. I hate that they changed it.

JB DETAILED Screenshot Gallary + Small changes

Gallary : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/aqvteoek9k8ewwq/yzKZD-V6vJ
Small changes that I've noticed so far:
1. the multitasking menu loads instantly when you press the button, but it makes you wait on the dimmed screen while it load the app screenshots. It gives the illusion of being faster.
2. "Hotword Detection" : launch voice search when you say "Google". It doesn't seem to work though.
3. New Developer options:
SD card privacy protection
Animator duration scale
Disable HW overlay
etc
4. Messaging app widget!
5. New Contacts icon
6. New share action pop out and app selector popout (big icons)
7. Default font seems to be a little thinner than ICS Roboto in some places.
8. Navigation is still Gingerbread looking. Background gradients are still pixelated. WTF Google?
9. NOTIFICATIONS CAN BE DISABLED. This one is a godsend. You can long press on notifications to get the info of the sender app (useful for detecting spam apps)
10. When keyboard is active, the back button turns into a downward arrow (just like tablet ICS).
11. WPS for Wifi
12. Browser has a chrome style card stack animation in tab view (was this in ICS?)
13. Wifi-direct has more options (like CM9)
14. "Add-on dictionaries" : it's empty now until 3rd party keyboards leverage the new API.
15. Kernel is based off 3.0.31 (ICS was 3.0.8)
16. Google play music has been updated (Nexus Q settings link, better interface, etc)
17. Keyboard shortcuts (example: brb expands to "be right back"). I'm not sure if this was present in ICS.
18. There is a nice animation in Camera when you tap the last picture thumbnail. The contact preview animation is MUCH improved (as shown in the keynote).

Installed via Koush's RM method? That's not an SDK build. It's a pre-release ("Beta") build OTA'd to the I/O handout GNex's. Its actually a properly made build though.

My bad. I was a little disapointed in the speed/smoothness, not because it's not smooth, but because Google made such a fuss about it that I thought it's going to be iOS smooth. I was hoping the factory images will be better, but I guess this is as good as it gets (which is still pretty good).
BTW Hotword detection works. You have to be inside Google Now and say "Google".

I think a lot of people would disagree with you. I had the iPhone 3G, 4, 4S (for 3 years) and iPad 2 (still do). The animations (opening apps, switching apps, opening app drawer, opening notifications, etc) are MUCH smoother on iOS. I'm not talking about general "speed". I'm talking about visuals of the animations and transitions.
Just the fact the google had to mention "Project butter" at the beginning of the keynote and emphasize it as the main change in JB shows the ICS wasn't there compared to iOS and WP7.
This JB build is a good improvement over ICS. I'd say if iOS was 100% smooth, GB was 30% and ICS was 70%, then JB would be around 85% smooth.
This is not the place to argue about this however

What do you mean? Sending one sms to more than one person? Wasn't this in ICS too?

This is new. Just tried typing "brb" using stock keyboard on my GNexus, it auto-corrected to "barb".
I'm just waiting on the download to finish before flashing, I cannot wait

Stock Apps Update... Sort of...

My HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus seems to be having problems updating some of the stock apps. This is an example of what is happening:
I'll get a new text and it'll show up in the status bar, notification tray, and messages app, but NOT the messages widget on my home screen
I am running 4.1 with the ROM titled simply "Jelly Bean" from ROM Manager (the I/O release)
Any ideas? I just switched from and iPhone 4S to this and am really enjoying it so far but a few bugs like this are quite bothersome

[Q] Cant expand notifications in 4.1.2 on any ROM.

So i've tried four Roms now, including 100% stock samsung firmware from poland, and this issue still has not been resolved.
They where:
Android Revolution HD 5.0
Omega 7.2
Wanamlite something or other
N7100XXDLK7 Stock Frimware
So you get a gmail message, or take a screenshot. Normally you can expand the notification in the notification drawer by swiping down with 2 fingers. Not anymore it seems. I had a look around and seems the stock android update of 4.1.2 added a feature that lets you expand notifications with one finger also. This also does not work.
Can anyone get this is work? Like I said above I've flashed four 4.1.2 roms and ALL have this issue/feature.
PLEASE HELP SOMEONE ITS SO FRICKING ANNOYING!
Cheers

[Q] hiding the address bar on stock browser 4.2.1

Ive updated to 4.2.1 and everything was improved until i tried the stock browser. One problem is that when tapping the tab button and scrolling between the pages i have open is laggy. Anothe annoyance is that the address bar never hides. It uses too much space. All this wasnt a problem on android 4.1.1. Im using stock 4.2.1

Yep. I noticed this too. However, it's smooth if you hold your finger on the screen, no matter how fast. If you flick your finger, lift your finger, and let it scroll, it gets laggy.
I suggest going to settings>labs>enable quick controls. I did not care for these on older versions, but i like it now. It will also hide the status bar.
