Hey People,
Just wondering if it's worth upgrading to 4.2.2 ... based on what I know, the changes doesn't justify it.
Appreciate your comments.
cheers,
Alex
Bug fixes don't justify it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
it was worth it for me, for you perhaps not.
If I were you I'd not upgrade because the perceived benefit does not out weigh your paranoia.
Why wouldn't you upgrade? Aren't frequent updates part of the reason we chose nexus devices.

Update. Its much faster. Just do it.
<maguro>
Guys,
don't get me wrong. My impression of 4.2.2 was just more for the graphical usage ... I'll update when it it being sent to my phone again ... thanks!!
I still have wifi problems sometimes when waking from deepsleep. This is using stock with no root. Is shows is connected but the internet is not working. Is there a router setting to fix this?

If you are already on 4.2.1, its a no brainer.

Running stock 4.2.2

On stock 4.2.2. Bluetooth tethering still borked. Can't tether my N7 for more than a few seconds at a time.
I'm using Carbon ROM which is up to 4.2.2 and the tethering works well to PC's or MAC books.
sorry for my shallow knowledge but pls clarify one basic q of mine:
If i update to 4.2.2 as indicated by my samsung galaxy nexus phone notification...will it get locked and unrooted again ?
I have used wugfresh in past to unlock boot and take backups...
I've stock 4.2.2 with only root, but I still have some annoying bugs like wifi that stops working when the phone is in standby(yes, the settings are correctly set up), the clock in the lockscreen presents some position problem when I push the power button and I find a slow passage to 3g connection when I turn off wifi.

It'll not get locked after OTA update but you will lose root. To keep root; use the free app "OTA RootKeeper"

Running MMuzzy's 4.2.2 2/17 build. Super smooth and tethering works. Did not test BT. I don't think the superwipe script worked the first time from 4.2.1, so I went through the manual steps to wipe.
Hey guys. I have android 4.1.1 running on my phone and ive been waiting for an ota update for the past couple of months but its just not coming! My phones not rooted and i want an update without rooting it! Any help?

Why wouldn't you? It's not like you won't be able to reverse back to 4.2.1.
It's as simple as that, it's not rocket science

Nope. I liked the look of mine and based my decision on that. Frequent updates are a bonus.

K so when I fist got my gnex I could use it with my Bluetooth speakers from a far range I could be like two rooms away and could still here it fine and it would be smooth. That was stock. Now that I'm rooted and running aokp it is horrible. I can't be more than 4 or 5 feet from the speakers without it cutting in and out and being really unusable.... would this be the rom (aokp M5) or the kernel (latest Franco nightly)?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Could be either, especially if AOKP is using the wrong bcmdhd.cal for the device.

You answered your own question. Go back to stock if you need things to work properly. Custom roms are experimental at best, since they introduce all kinds of problems, including app incompatibility, hardware instability and broken features (like voicemail notifications not working).
Good luck.

Well, it is the right one. I know the Verizon version has been modified to fix choppy BT. It may or may not work for you. You are welcome to try it, but back up your current one.
Okay thanks I will try it when I get home

How do you find 4.1.2 so far? What are the problems you have experienced? Do you feel real change with that update? I find it ok but the launcher crashes a lot -I never had that with 4.1.1, I like the expandable notification, and generally I don't think it was worth how many times I tried the Google Services trick to finally get it. Just was wondering what everyone thought of it.
4.1.1 was bug free . 4.1.2. was a minor update , a few additions to settings in certain areas but not bug free . When i am swipping from downloaded apps , running and all apps , force stopping apps , my screen freezes for a few secs and i get a would u like to send a big report pop up . I have heard other people getting the same bug , so i think its a jelly bean issue , hopefully its fixed in the 4.2 update . If i don't force stop apps the bug doesn't appear
Dude...Android 4.2 is coming in a few days. This thread is pointless, and 4.1.2 was a bug fix release mostly aimed at the Nexus 7.

I still didn't like how they have not fixed the thumbnail view in windows explorer.

I understand 4.2 is coming out soon, and personally I can't wait to get the Hand Gestures keyboard, since Swype has become very slow and lag a lot. So I just thought to see how everyone find the 4.1.2 update after using it for quiet some time and knowing the 4.2 is just a few days away. And I find many bugs with the 4.1.2

4.1.1 had good battery life.. 4.1.2 had horrible battery life even with trinity kernel..
I agree, the battery life is really horrible with 4.1.2 compared to the 4.1.1. I don't understand how they can mess something like that I up

Check your location settings in Maps.

I see lag with 4.1.2. Many times launcher refreshes with some delay when I returning from browser or some other apps..looks like some ram issue.. I am considering flashing 4.1.1 again.

Dont hold your breath for Android to fix the lag. Ever since I had the Galaxy nexus, the user experience has been severely lacking.

You never miss a chance to bash Android and this phone, do you.
I am on 100% pure, unrooted Google Play Store GNex and have had zero problems going from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2.
I'm also on stock unrooted 4.1.2 and everything is perfect.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Nope, my Gnex yakju is still waiting... So am I.
I'm guessing it's US-based takju first, then yakju, then other variants. It won't be long, the 4.1.2 factory images were up a day or so after the Nexus 7
There is a zip update for yakju floating around but many reported causing problems! I understand the takju has been rolling out for almost half a day. Hopefully they'll start rolling out the yakju file some time today

I agree....incremental updates so often cause problems for people (stuttering, crashes etc.). I always erase everything and start afresh
Just hope the wifi hotspot works on this build otherwise I'll have to go back to 4.1.1 as 4.1.2 broke it

You should be on takju than ? Aren't you ?
God know how many times I pressed the check now button ... But still no update here. I'm from Georgia (country) and I'm running yakju/maguro:4.1.2/JZO54K
anybody tried this trick ?
Connect to WiFi. If you don’t automatically see the OTA update notification, go Apps > All > Google Services Framework. Clear the data cache then force stop the application. Go back to your homescreen and wait for at least 2 minutes.
Open up the dialer and type: *#*#2432546#*#*
It should say it’s checked in succesfully. Make sure you’re connected to WiFi or this won’t work. Leave the phone for around another 1-2 minutes. If you see data activity, that’s a good sign.
Go back to Settings > About > System Update and check if the 4.1.1 OTA update is downloading

that helped me to get 4.1.1 ota couple of month ago. It doesn't work form me this time, but you might want to try that
Well i post this here because us wind users don't have the luxury of having a separate forum section for us. And the model number t889v is quite similar to tmobiles t889.
My question is that when will the software update arrive for this phone? I check everyday and nothing thus far. I do not want to root it because the only reason i would root my previous phone was to overclock to compensate for lag. however this is not needed for this phone so why bother. Besides im waiting for the OTA update.
Rooting doesnt stop you from getting the update.

I think you went past the "STOP HERE" part of the rooting process...
No I was getting the modified error once I started to allow apps such as set cpu and etc gain access. I found out that if you uninstall them and click forget in the supersu app and reboot, the device status will go back to normal allowing you to check for updates.
Now my question is, if you use root keeper, will that allow you to install update and not lose root like on my old s3?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, me too. I am still waiting for the ota update. I tried to update using kies but it said its unable to update software for my version :s ?.. then I went to tools and update and initialize thingy and tried doing that.. it downloaded and installed some update but i didnt get the newest because I still dont have multiview...
This is pretty anoying coming from a galaxy nexus
so anyone update to 4.3?
I found this through a post on Google plus and wanted to share it, make sure to thank the original ok mal posters in other thread if it helps. Tested on my I747 and it worked wonders. I just wanted to share the knowledge for those not wanting to jump through to many hoops.

Can be fixed by a simple EFS restore I believe. Did you not do a backup of it in the first place?
Everything I've read had involved going back to stock to get it to reset. I didn't even think GPS had anything to do with efs I thought that was just the imei and other info related to it. Plus this is still simpler doesn't even need a pc or any other apps just access to the stock dialer and a minute or two.

That sounds more like a hardware issue. My problem was that it would do nothing when the GPS was on in maps or anything else. No icon no nothing. After doing this it went back to normal.
