Has anyone with yakju received the OTA update?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Nope, my Gnex yakju is still waiting... So am I.
I'm guessing it's US-based takju first, then yakju, then other variants. It won't be long, the 4.1.2 factory images were up a day or so after the Nexus 7
There is a zip update for yakju floating around but many reported causing problems! I understand the takju has been rolling out for almost half a day. Hopefully they'll start rolling out the yakju file some time today

It's frustrating, I can't stop checking XDA for the yakju OTA update. I know I can convert to takju and receive the update but that would wipe everything, and anyway once the factory image is released, I'd flash it instantly

I know Titanium backup can do that. But I'm waiting for the 4.2 factory image to flash it and have fresh clean installation of everything. A fresh clean start

I agree....incremental updates so often cause problems for people (stuttering, crashes etc.). I always erase everything and start afresh
Just hope the wifi hotspot works on this build otherwise I'll have to go back to 4.1.1 as 4.1.2 broke it
Where's the big deal? In the worst case you'll have to wait a few days. Compared to other phone out it's practically nothing.

You should be on takju than ? Aren't you ?
God know how many times I pressed the check now button ... But still no update here. I'm from Georgia (country) and I'm running yakju/maguro:4.1.2/JZO54K
anybody tried this trick ?
Connect to WiFi. If you don’t automatically see the OTA update notification, go Apps > All > Google Services Framework. Clear the data cache then force stop the application. Go back to your homescreen and wait for at least 2 minutes.
Open up the dialer and type: *#*#2432546#*#*
It should say it’s checked in succesfully. Make sure you’re connected to WiFi or this won’t work. Leave the phone for around another 1-2 minutes. If you see data activity, that’s a good sign.
Go back to Settings > About > System Update and check if the 4.1.1 OTA update is downloading

that helped me to get 4.1.1 ota couple of month ago. It doesn't work form me this time, but you might want to try that

I've just completed this. I too had that piece of garbage from Samsung. I've downloaded google official ITL41F files and flashed them through fastboot, manually by using these commands:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primekj10.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxkk1.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w update image-yakju-itl41f.zip
The result ? The ROM is just about the same as before, nothing really changed. Anyway, I hope this helps.
LE: Oh, I forgot. The recovery is back to stock after this. Good to know.
I did the same thing as lambda30, worked fine.
Thank you so much. That was exactly what I was looking for. Flashed as yakju firmware after unlocking...then relocked all good. Now I'm on the Google wagon. Muuuch better.

It does make a difference as long as permissions were f**ked up and couldn't install Wallet. Other than that and the fact that there are a couple of dozen ring tones missing, probably no difference at all.

Sorry if I offended you in any way, I didn't meant for that. yakju and still no Wallet love ? Hmm. Did you get it like this, or installed from Google ICS official images ?
Oh you're fine we're on the same page now at least! I bought it from an importer in Chicago (where I live), and that's just how it was. No wallet stock, no wallet in the market. I was able to flash the wallet from the Themes and Apps forum, however.
The one thing I can say now that it totally different, is when the phone powers up it actually looks for an update, where before on the samsung variant it never did that in the beginning after it boots up. So that is prolly why the other build model hasn't gotten an update.
This thread will do it for you, quick and painless.

Aha. Dunno what's the problem (probably other build no. or such), but you could try the official Google ICS images if you want. It should work with those. Just do backup of current installation... I've found it the hard way on my Nexus S.

Same with me.
i'm on the "mysid" version(the one that is on the Verizon model) and i get the update message when i turn the phone on and i got the welcome to your galaxy nexus email from the android team a couple hours after i activated.
so i don't think that has anything to do with who updates the phone.
I just got my galaxy nexus today and was wondering if I could force the 4.0.2 update. Reason being I want to use Google wallet. I updated to 4.0.1 today, does that matter? Can I only take one update per day ?

It turns out, the doh doh who sold me this phone on craigslist had messed a bunch of things up with the recovery and couldn't flash anything conventionally. Luckily I downloaded the official 4.0.2 from google and used the nexus tool box to reflash recovery/stock image/root/rinse/repeat.

Someone here who's going to get one of the gifted Nexuses with the preview JB ROM on them and wants to dump the ROM for us?
Would be very nice and I think there are some people who'd love to flash it.

I came to XDA to post this question, if those phones came pre-loaded with JB 4.1.
They didn't come preloaded BUT Google said they will be prompted to upgrade to the Preview Jelly Bean update within minutes.
Okay, so it's almost pre loaded ;-)
Which is even better so we can just grab the zip and don't need to pack the ROM.

will this only be for people who like to poke around with new stuff? or will it possibly be stable enough to use every day?

Hi all
Although it seems kind of silly to ask but to confirm, if there is any difference between the OTA we are using and the factory images google released recently ?? Has anyone observed any??

He means what is the difference between the actual system files and OS between the two. Not what happens when you install each one.

Updating to JRO03C via OTA or flash the full JRO03C image will result in the exact same system. Otherwise Google would have changed the version number (to something like JRO03D).
Hey People,
Just wondering if it's worth upgrading to 4.2.2 ... based on what I know, the changes doesn't justify it.
Appreciate your comments.
cheers,
Alex
Bug fixes don't justify it?

it was worth it for me, for you perhaps not.
If I were you I'd not upgrade because the perceived benefit does not out weigh your paranoia.
Why wouldn't you upgrade? Aren't frequent updates part of the reason we chose nexus devices.

On stock 4.2.2. Bluetooth tethering still borked. Can't tether my N7 for more than a few seconds at a time.
I'm using Carbon ROM which is up to 4.2.2 and the tethering works well to PC's or MAC books.
sorry for my shallow knowledge but pls clarify one basic q of mine:
If i update to 4.2.2 as indicated by my samsung galaxy nexus phone notification...will it get locked and unrooted again ?
I have used wugfresh in past to unlock boot and take backups...
I've stock 4.2.2 with only root, but I still have some annoying bugs like wifi that stops working when the phone is in standby(yes, the settings are correctly set up), the clock in the lockscreen presents some position problem when I push the power button and I find a slow passage to 3g connection when I turn off wifi.
