Just got into the rooting scene again. I rooted my phone with CWM and LiquidSmooth, but I liked the stock Samsung rom better. Looks like the LiquidSmooth is kind of bugged, the gallery is not as good at the default, camera app isn't really good etc.
I've found the stock rom for 4.1.2 for my I9305, but when I flash it, it just makes an exclamation mark when booting and gets stuck at Samsung logo.
Now the problem is, that It won't connect to Samsung Kies. I want to reset the phone to factory rom, but Samsung won't connect to phone in Download mode.
I know the rules of a forum etc. and I have really been searching, but sometimes you need personal advice, because I really tried a lot of things
Got CWM-based Recovery v6.0.2.8 right now.
I've tried flashing with Odin and I9305XXBLL3_I9305HTDBLL2_I9305XXBLL3_HOME.tar - But doesn't really work.
Thank you in advance!
And at the same time as making this thread, I tried flashing with the rom again, and now it works. Think I forgot to do factory/cache reset.
My fault! Hope this thread helps someone else in the future.
Put "SOLVED" in thread title please
Thanks

It's good he figured it out cause he got the wrong thread. This is SPH-L710 forum not the I9305 forum.

Hi there,
Can someone please help me as I think I have soft bricked my phone and can't figure out how to fix it.
I previously had a rooted device running Phandroid.
I then used the Toolkit and attempted to "Flash an unsecure boot image". Since then, my phone will not boot up. It hangs at the samsung logo screen.
I have used Odin to flash a default "STOCK" image on the device, but the same problem exists.
I tried flashing new boot images but the same issue exists. Perhaps I am using the wrong file?
If anyone has any tips I would really appreciate it.
Thank you.
first shouldve put this in q&a
second factory data reset then flash back stock with odin then you should be good

thanks for the reply. i realized my mistake. i flashed the international boot image instead of the one for my device. can you please advice me on how to fix it. I tried flashing the stock rogers firmware with odin but its not working.
i realized the secret. After flashing the stock rogers firmware, you must boot into the default android recovery and wipe your cache and data.
that resolved my boot-freeze issue.
thanks.
This is the second post that I have seen tonight regarding this same problem. What the heck is happening here?

JTAG repair is your only option. You've hard bricked your phone.

If he is able to reach download mode then this statement is completely false, not to mention the problem was fixed at the time of your post.....
Missed his response.
In my experience flashing the wrong firmware means hard-brick.
Cheers.

More often than not, yes it does....but it is not an absolute your are F'ed. It is still worth going through all the possibilities of getting into download mode and correcting the error before immediately condemning someone to a potentially costly repair.
True enough.
That's why I got a jig - just in case.

I have put several different ROM's on my att galaxy s3. The latest one I put on here was from Liquid smooth. Great ROM. however, i lost my imei. is there an easy way to fix this? i am not a developer by any means so i hate to try to do too much reprogramming (like listed in thread linked below) and screw up my phone even more. thanks!

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong then please?
I can not get the port to connect to be able to inject it. I saw the second post down where someone has written a code to give you access on to the phone, but sadly I have no idea what to do with that code to make it work. i have all the software downloaded to computer and my phone's imei, but i get an error when I try to connect port. thanks for your help!!

Flash back to stock via odin.

That's what I did. Thanks. Saturday down the drain but at least I got my phone back up and going with 4.1.2 and 4G. It was touch and go there for awhile.
Whoever made all the stuff in the thread linked at the top is a bamf.

I do not think it matters since you'll be using a one click, but since you said it was stock it's most likely on ICS. The one click method does everything for you so you do not need odin just download it, extract it to a folder on your desktop, and then click it and click it again, and then run as administrator. Plug the phone into the computer via USB make sure it's in download mode.

freezes at recovery in oneclick
so I dl the one click and it runs through for about 10 seconds then gets to the recovery labled in area next to the green status bar and yellow connected to port window and that is as far as shell go.
You must use a "restore " data one click file. You have no idea what was running previously on phone so you need to go with stock/rooted restore. The "no data " option cannot be used, it can only be used if you are staying on same build, example ics to ics or Jb to Jb.
Use restore and you should be good to go.

would this be a good file then?
so use like the fl24 original TAR (UNROOTED) ?
found here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903252
You must read and comprehend "one click" not tar, one click zip. This oc zip is dummy proof.

Why did you start a second thread for this, and why are you failing to say in this thread that you tried to flash a rom that is for the og Epic 4G? It is quite possible that flashing a rom for a different phone has borked your phone and the only solution will be a jtag.

Good first question.
The second one doesn't seem to apply, yet, since they can still get into recovery/odin modes.
Either they got up and running, or bricked and don't want to post back..
Aarrghh!!!
There is something evil about this.

I hope he got it running. Reminds of when I got the og Epic 4G and 2 days later flashed it with a rom for the international gsm version. I didn't know about XDA at the time and it took a few hours to recover from that. After that I started reading carefully.

Try to flash a GB08 Restore One Click. Not rooted, not deodexed, just a straight up stock restore.
Make sure you are using a good USB cable that is plugged into a good port. Plug the phone in AFTER you have opened the One Click Odin package. You will see the COM port appear then you just need to click start or begin or whatever it says. Give it time to flash.

Hey all,
I downloaded a transparent bar for my Galaxy S3 for Sprint, and after unzipping, it is now stuck on the Samsung logo. Obviously the phone isn't dead because I made the mistake once installing a I9300 version ROM to my Sprint Galaxy S3. How could I fix this issue? Odin does recognize the phone, but I am trying to find threads and I can't seem to get anywhere. I know its a noob question and noobs aren't very well liked, but I'd appreciate help!
Why not just boot into recovery which ever you have cwm or twrp and reflash the rom? Most likely that status bar mod you tried doesn't work with whatever rom your running.

Thanks for your input, my friend. I ended up just reinstalling the whole operating system back to stock on Odin with an immensely large file and it worked. My only question is this....I thought the root was permanent? I am trying to learn all y'all lingo! LoL

No usually when you use Odin your returning to a stock tar file which will revert you to totally stock unrooted. You can now install a custom recovery and root your phone again.

Hey All!
So... when I first got my S3, I played around with a couple of custom ROMS. I decided that none of them suited me and that I could accomplish what I wanted from a stock ROM and NOVA launcher. I did a flash with a one-click to stock with counter reset ROM and then after watching some videos from qbking77, I tried forcing an update to get to 4.1.2 md4.
But now, my baseband is MB1 and my build is LJ7 and at least twice a week, I get a notification that there is an update available, but its the same one everytime! I have tried stopping Google Services Framework, clearing the cache and then checking for update, but it just continues to download the same update (its 157.7MB). I tried downloading some official release ROMS and flashing them, but it keeps failing the signature verification.
I should mention that I use Ubuntu and am not willing to do any kind of setup that involves windows so that I can use Odin. I use Heimdall.
I just want to get my S3 to MD4 stock!!
What should I do?

Yes it is you need to update your device to MD4 build and MD4 firmware. He's got all the instructions on how to do it. Wether rooted or not. If you want the thread where the stock md4 rom and firmware can be found its here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32152586
I'll show you where to find the answers... But you have to read
