Stuck in RUU bootloader screen

My Wizard is stuck in the RUU bootloader screen and Windows XP comes up with the error "USB device not recognised".
When I connect to Windows XP the bootloader sceen shows USB at the bottom left but the PC (tried on 2 different machines) shows the above error.
Hard reset and soft reset do not work.
How can I get the Wizard to connect with the PC to perform a rom install or is the Wizard now beyond help ?

If the phone is already unlocked, plug the phone in the ocmputer. It should say USB on the phone when your on the Tri Colour screen. From that point you should be able to just flash any ROM you want. As long as it says USB on the phones screen, you should be good

No, that does not work beacuse when I run a rom install utility, I get the error (device not found).
If the pc does not see the phone, the flash utility will not either.
Is there a driver that can be installed on XP to force it to recognise the phone when connected to USB ?
Any help with this problem would be a life saver.

What knid of phone do you have

It's the HTC Wizard thats been running WM6 (TNT).
The trouble began when I tried to flash the latest version. The Wizard was recognised and the flash started, but at 0% the USB connection was lost.
Now the PC will not recognise the phone and it's stuck in RUU bootloader screen.
Tried all the USB ports on 2 different Windows XP PC's. Same problem.
Is there any method to get out of this RUU bootloader screen besides the soft/hard reset methods (because they do not do anything) ?

If the phone is already unlocked, your on the bootloader screen and the phone says USB. I don't see why you can't flash any ROM you want. I have never encounterd this issue.

yep, it's a new problem for me too.
Bottom line is, if I can't find a driver or some other way to make the PC see the Wizard. It maybe time to bin it :-(

Mate...I feel for yah, I got the same problem and tried everything. No one has come up with a solution for the phone and the PC to connect via USB when you get this error.

I dont know much about your phone but can you flash from SD card ?
It might be in the wiki section for your phone

it may be related to a faulty USB cable... or loose USB... i have mine do that sometimes and i have to make sure i do not move the usb once it is active synced!

hi every body
yesterday i was checking out program ROM MANAGER and i found option install rom . so i did it but after phone restarting . at it stucked at frist black screen and there is no any response or move ... then i entered into AMOR_na recovery to reinstall another rom ... i surrprise that i cann't mount SD card ... and now i can't plug my desire to pc to install anoher rom and and my cell phone cann't see my memory card ... please help what can i do ... urgent

Enable the SD Card functionality: Boot your phone in FASTBOOT mode (back + power), and enter this command: 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' . This will re-enable your SD card.

You must've Android sdk installed. In and from the tools folder of your sdk open cmd prompt and enter the command as long as you have booted your phone in fastboot by shutting it down and the turn it on by pressing back button + power on

i found after installation rom that the (bluetooth )not workig and (usb debubbing ) not working too ( just for charge only no more action )
now my moblie all thing working normaly and i have root ( AMON_RA ) and working too and i can see my memory card but NO BLUETOOTH NO USB
i try to change radio but it is not working and i tried to change rom but it is not working too ... kinldy do u have any soulution .....

You should try downgrading to a different radio version first and if the issue still persists, then try flashing a different ROM as your current ROM may have an issue with Bluetooth, which could also explain why it is not functioning for you.

i am downgrading my radio to 32.46.00.32U_5.10.05.17_2 and as the same bluetooth not working and i USB debugging not working too .... and i notice that USB tethering i can't check the box ....
you have to know something i was sufring from could't see my memory card . and i solve it by installing ABD KIt ...
and i notice too it s take long time to start charge ... and if i plug my phone to PC it always searching for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM ?
any advice ?

I think you may have a driver issue. Disconnect your phone, completely un-install HTC Sync and its associated drivers, restart your PC, re-install HTC Sync, reboot your phone, ensure the 'USB Debugging' option is selected via the phone, and then connect it to your PC after it restarts.
If you have the same bluetooth error, even after changing radio versions, then I would advise you to try either a different working custom ROM that is stable, or even revert back to stock ROM by running your original RUU (use a Gold Card also if necessary), and then check if your Bluetooth is functional. If it is, re-root and install the working custom ROM of your choice.

Restoring a Nand will not work. There are different drivers on the PC host, and different firmware controlling USB on the phone. Try the unbricking guide in post#8 and also try what I suggested above.
Let us know how you get on.

as you told me before ... i create image from ( r3-tinycore_2.10-desireroot ) on CD and boot my lap from CDrom .. and then do some steps to git CID ... and then i modefied img files and restore ot to my phone and restart and all thing go's well ...

Evening everyone
Got a BIG problem with my phone today and having searched and read i still cant fix it
Ok a little about my phone: Rooted with amon recovery, recently s/off, CyanogenMod 7 rom and kernel, -32 radio..
Right here is the problem...
Did a nandroid backup in recovery of the rom i was using ^^ and all seemed fine, i then rebooted my phone,, booted up, waited for everything to work and then i noticed my apps weren't there?
Went into storage and it showed no memory card,, so i rebooted phone hoping this might fix but it didn't.
Plugged my phone into laptop and a message flashed up "usb device not recongnised" i though Sh!t whats happened ?
So i booted my phone into recovery to mount the sd and a message again "error cant mount sd"
Clicked reboot phone and now its stuck on the "why so serious" screen ???????
Ive dloaded the sdk tool but really not sure what i should be typing in there ??
Anyone with a little time care to help me out please lol ???

EDIT: I have flashed nearly every rom on xda since i rooted about 4 months ago without any problems, always did the wipes in recovery before flashing so really dont know what has happened here ?

Try formatting SD card, if that doesn't work, reflash recovery

Forgot to mention i did format sd card on pc "fat32" using a sd card reader but that aint solved it
Not re flashed recovery though....
Edit: how can i re flash recovery if my lappy wont recongnise phone

Looks like you have been usb bricked, look this forum for usb brick fix, its not the fault of the rom, it just sometimes happens. Got it once too, easely to fix.

Im not blaming the rom not one bit as its been running fine this morning up untill i did the backup.
I have read and read that much my heads spinning %-( there's hek of a lot to take in and being a rather noooooob im lost as to what i should do

Download the SDK and then use the command prompt to run the fastboot command from the Modaco tutorial.
There are quite a few guides for fastboot, just Google it

I just ran the command and when entered it said fastboot not found?

You need to run it from the directory containing fastboot.executive (in the SDK).

Right click on the My Computer icon and select the properties tab.
Select the Advanced tab and click the Environment Variables button.
In the new dialog box dowble-click on Path (located under System Variables) and type in the full path location to the tools directory.
Has to be done for it to work

did u install the htc drivers from the htc website? i was having problems with connecting my phone dowloaded those and un-installed sync and all was fixed!

i get 'usb not recognised message' every now and then on my home pc and the works pc both running Windows 7 64bit.
I found that usually when it pops up about
'usb not recognised message'
i just unplug the cable then back in a few seconds after the message then it usually connects ok. sometimes it takes a few attempts.
thats with 'HTC Wildfire_setup_3.0.5481' installed for the 64bit drivers.

But now i have another problem i noticed today is Bluetooth wont turn on ? is there a fix out there for this ?

Im experiencing strange reboots now with phone plugged into laptop via usb, and on the status bar on phone it show usb debugging and then dissapears and comes back and when i unplug usb the phone reboots?
I wiped the laptop yesterday and phone seemed fine and now the troubles have come back
In logcat error im also getting this message when i enable bluetooth
attempting to remove unknown iface (usb0), ignoring
bt_enable: Timeout waiting for HCI device to come up
Seems as if the brick has actually fooked my phone up good and proper !

Phone can't be detected by PC

My phone can't be detected by PC and the when I plug in , it just charges normally but can't be detected ... No connected to PC in notification bar . Tried turning USB debugging both on and off . And the connected to PC in settings , tried both charge only and disk drive with ask me checked , still no luck .Tried plugging into different USB ports . Tried uninstalling HTC driver from device manager at PC but when reinstalling , failed to reinstall don't know why ... And after a few searches at google , I am quite dumb enough to uninstall the HTC Sync app in my phone ... Now I have no HTC Sync in my phone , unable to connect to PC and am screwed ... Any help will be much appreciated .
Edit : Solved the problem . Flashed ARHD EB-1 by mike1987 and the problem was solved unexpectedly and magically ...

Try a different cable.
Switch on a data connection and restore sync, by browsing to play.google.com on your computer and hitting install.
Umm... Uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

I couldn't connect to computer ... How would you expect me to browse to play.google.com and hit install ?? O.O Thanks for replying though ...

If, using any kind of web browser, you go to https://play.google.com/store you can remote install apks when logged into the same google account as the phone. Well, turns out "HTC Sync" isn't in the store. In fact, I have no idea what you uninstalled.

Mines done that a couple of times, a reboot sorts it.

I tried reinstalling the driver by uninstalling the driver from Device Manager and installing it by plugging in again . But no drivers were found when I was trying to install the driver again ... Any ideas ??

Of course I used the original cable ...

Ive found the HTCSync.apk in my /system/app after asking around in the forum but then I can't install it ... I've given it permision rw-r-r but still can't ... It says Application not installed ... So I tried adb push HTCSync.apk /system/app but it says no such file or directory ... help please ?

Problem is I can't install HTC Sync , it won't let me ...

If you have rooted your phone and cwm recovery is installed you can access your phone. Boot into recovery and click on the mount button. Then click mount the sd card and it should pop up on your computer

I know that ... Just that I have to boot into recovery everytime I want to do something ? Let's say I don't want to just mount the SD card , I want to internet tether ... Then it's unavailable then right ??

try disable usb debugging from setting in developer option...
or try pull out you're sd card from phone..and try format sd card n copy ruu file via card reader..then put in back to the phone n then flash the ruu..

still can't understand what you mean exactly is...but if i'm not wrong..you're still no success flashing stock ruu..maybe..if that so..
just copy n put PD98IMG.zip file to the root of you're sd card...n reboot into bootloader with press volume down+power until inside hboot..then let the bootloader check n read you're sd card..then confirm that to flash rom when bootloader already success detect PD98IMG.zip file in you're root sd card..

I am trying to get the pc to reconise my Phone i can only charge it no mount as drive or do any fastboot commands because in fastboot when i plug in the usb i dont get usb fastboot i flashed the stock ruu that worked but still no usb connection to the pc

try disable usb debugging in settings->applications->development->untick usb debugging or try another cable/usb port..

I tried diableing usb debugging and 5 diffrent cables that work with other htc desire hd still no luck
i m trying to get custom roms on it again but whitout fastboot or any other kind of usb connection that is impossible
Maby someone knows a rooted pd98img.zip file i can flash cause that works

can you tell me what status of you're phone bootloader now exactly..?, i mean.. s-off or s-on.., and what recovery do you have..?

so..i suggest you must do the step from beginning again..s-off, rooting n istalling custom recovery again..
maybe you can try simple method a AAHK2 script to do it all.. read n download link in this thread..

you mean you don't have original cable data from htc original charger it self...?
if so..maybe you can try used different data cable from different phone...
