I'm attempting to flash the Paranoid Android rom but have run into a bit of trouble.
When I open Clockwork Mod recovery I select "Install zip from sdcard" followed by "Choose zip from sdcard".
At this point all I am offered is 4 options:
- 0/
-legacy/
- obb/
- +Go Back+
I have the paranoid android zip and gapps zip located on my sdcard.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike.

I didn't want to click anything and ruin it.
Thanks a lot for your reply :good:
Update your CWM so that it understands 4.2's new /data/media format.

whats the best way to do that?
I'm new to this as you can probably tell..
Also, now that I have flashed Gapps and the rom I have been stuck in a bootloop for 15 mins, should I continue to wait or do something else?
I have tried pulling the battery and starting the phone again and also flashing the rom again but to no avail
Sounds like you didn't do factory reset in recovery

To install a theme for my CM 6.1.1 Rom, do I have to wipe data and cache or just flash the zip of the theme from recovery?

If the theme is specifically made for CM 6.1.1 just install zip from sdcard in recovery, no wipe needed.
EDIT: Remember back up your current rom in case you dont like the theme you can all ways restore the previous rom.
Thanks for your help. Needed that!

Ok so I did that but it tells me installation aborted. I'm not clear on why that happens.

What theme are you trying to download? I had a problem with my phone not downloading the whole theme so it wouldnt install. When you try to flash it, does it say its bad?
Sent from my Pear Phone.
Well theres a fourm about a couple of G2 themes for CM 6.1.1 i believe and i downloaded a theme called "Frost" straight from my phone not my computer. So i booted into recovery and tried flashing the zip of that theme but in a matter of seconds it says "installation aborted"

download it from your desktop then and just place the file in your SD card boot into recovery and try it then.
Sent from my Pear phone.
Ok so I tried that. But as every time I flash it via clockwork it still tells me "bad" "installation aborted".

Can you pm me your email so I can send you the theme zip and see if it works.

Yea I sent it

Do themes need to be renamed to update.zip when placed in the Internal SD root directory? I'm reading both ways, and I'm not sure which is correct. I would think just leave named "as is" and find that specifc zip file when in recovery.
So good practice is too select "Backup Current ROM" using the ROM Manager app. If the theme is ugly and you just want stock (or whatever came with your ROM) back.....then go back into ROM Manager and select "Install ROM from SD Card"?
I'd just like to know how to get there and how to get back....just in case.

You do not need to rename the theme.zip to update.zip, make sure the theme .zip was made for the rom you are running, then reboot into recovery, then select "install zip from sd", then select "select zip from sd" once installed go back to main recovery screen and select "reboot system now", thats it .
Yes it is good practice to back up your rom, to revert to a previous back up using rom manager just select "Rom Manager", then select "Manage and restore Backup" , then select the back up you want to restore, and also choose to wipe , thats it rom manager will do the rest.

Thank you....very helpful. Appreciate the confirmation on the right steps.
hi
I just flashed to cyanogenmod7.
Deciding that I want another ROM instead, I downloaded leedroid and copied it to my sdcard.
Going into recovery, I chose
apply zip from sdcard'.. but recovery tells me that there are no files on the card.
I booted up, went to filemanager, and my files were there no problem.
I tried clicking the new ROM and it recognized it as a ROM and asked my to reboot into recovery to continue..
I did, and got the same result. recovery won't recognize the card? or at least it won't recognize any files or folders??
What could be the cause? and more importantly, what can I do to fix this?
If you apply a zip from sdcard it must be named update.zip
You can also choose "Install zip from sd" and manually search it
hi
yes, I realise that, but since it cannot find any files on the sdcard, I cannot do any flashing nor any updating.
But I did manage to fix this by using an sdcard formatter on the PC.

You should add a [SOLVED] to topic's heading, so everybody knows this problem is solved.
Ok, so i decided to go with cyanogenmod, and i'm not sure what i did wrong, but when the phone started up all i'm getting is the Cyanogenmod boot animation, then it keeps looping that same animation. Made a different thread because i felt it was unrelated. Is it bricked or...? Thanks for any help!
how long did you wait upon initial boot? did you perform a full wipe before installing?

About 15 minutes. Nothing happened, so i pulled the battery. I realised now i probably shouldn't have. I wiped the second option, can't remember what it said again, began with a D though. I backed up everything though using clockworkmod beforehand.

If you're coming from. Stock, you need to do a full wipe (factory reset) before flashing. If that doesn't work, restore your backup and redownload (it might just be a bad download, make sure you're on WiFi with a good signal).

gotcha. yeah, it should boot long before 15 minutes.. 5-10 minutes isn't unheard of upon initial boot, though.
you should be fine, just go back into recovery and wipe everything. I've attached a tool that will come in handy for wiping, provided by our good friend amazinglarry. it is a flashable zip, so you can install it through recovery by selecting "install zip from sdcard" and finding superwipe.zip.
please note that running this script will delete EVERYTHING on your phone (aside from stuff on your sd card). it formats /system , /data , and /cache.
so:
-download this attachment, place it on your sdcard
-reboot into recovery and select "install zip from sdcard", then choose superwipe.zip
-let it wipe and format each partition, the phone will automatically reboot.
-reinstall CM7 & gapps through recovery
that should get you going.

Sorry for the late reply... but how do i boot into recovery again? xD Sorry, complete noob.
Right... I get into Hboot and it instantly goes onto try and update to my stock update thing i used to get it down to 1.34 (PC10IMG.zip) instantly, it wont let me go down to recovery...
ANOTHER edit - i tried it without my SD in and it worked fine - but i didnt have my back up because its on my sd card -.-
plug your sdcard into your computer and delete the img.zip file off of it
yeah... i can't really, my only means of accessing my sd card was through my phone.
My phone is currently not working at all so I would really appreciate some help. I was running MMuzzy's 4.2 JB ROM (Around the 12/16/12 Version) and I decided to update to the 1/11/13 ROM version. So I installed the files onto my phone and rebooted into recovery, wiped cache and dalvik cache, and installed the files form SD Card. After this, I chose reboot system and it just went straight back into recovery. New ROM wouldn't load. I was an idiot and did not do a backup of my previous rom because I thought it would be a flawless process since I was updating to a new version of the same ROM. So I have no backup to access right now. An odd thing I noticed is when I "chose ZIP from SD card" multiple options such as 0/ and obb came up instead of just showing the files in my SD card. Right now to access my files I have to choose ZIP from sd card, choose 0/, 0/ again, 0/again, and then I can see my ROM and gapps zip files. Since the New rom didnt work I did a factory reset and wiped everything and tried to install the Zips again. Still nothing. Also, the phone can't find any of my old backups. I suspect this has something to do with the odd formatting issue and 0/ and obb folders showing up but I have no idea. What should I do? At this point I don't care If I lose everything on my sd card I just want my phone working.
Thanks
in mounts and storage mount /data then
adb push ROM.zip /data/media
then unmount and it should be there on the root of your "sdcard"
Edit- but if you have 3 "0" folders then you will have to change it from data/media to data/media/0/0/0

Okay. Any way someone can give me a more detailed step by step on how to do these instructions? Sorry I'm pretty much a noob at this and I barely remember the ADP stuff I did on my mac when I first rooted my phone.
Thanks a lot

If you're a n00b then flashing a new ROM without knowing how to fix an issue wasn't the best idea was it?
The best solution I can give is to flash back to 100% stock and then start again once you know what you're doing. Use this guide:

I have a Tab 3 that had stock 4.4.2 and it was simply unbearable and sometimes take seconds to do anything. So I rooted it and installed TWRP and installed a custom rom thinking that might fix it, no luck. Any suggestions on what could be wrong or how I can improve it? The rom I installed was Tranchidakat v4.1

Try Nolekat and install custom kernel. I would suggest werewolf kernel. Here. My tab is smoothly running
I downloaded that and it will not show up in my recovery even though I have copied it over. My other roms I have copied over do not show up either, I am using TWRP v2.8.0.0 and using the rockettab3.1 rom currently

Try to put it in your external sdcard. And locate your extsdcard in twrp.

Depends on how you copied it over and what version of Android you were running at the time.
There is no actual internal sdcard. It is simply a link to a folder on the data partition.
In 4.1.2, the "internal sdcard" was linked to /data/media.
In 4.4.2, the "internal sdcard" is linked to /data/media/0.
In TWRP, you may need to browse through the data/media directory or the data/media/0 directory to find your file. You can either use the "up a level" option from the "Install" menu or go to "Advanced" and choose the file browser.
