[Q] Unlocked and Still Roaming? - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

So I sim unlocked my GT-S5660m with the BML5 method and it is also rooted. It was originally locked to Virgin/Bell and I have a Fido sim. The unlocked worked as I checked the lock status and they are all off.
The problem is that when I put my Fido sim card in it takes it and shows me Fido as the network I'm on but it says that I'm roaming? (the little R icon by the signal bars shows). How is it possible that I am roaming on the network I'm supposed to be on?? Has anyone run into something like this?
Quick update. Did a factory reset and battery pull and now it asks for the network unlock pin code again. I enter it and it unlocks it again but it seems the unlock doesn't stick...

[Q] Error While Scanning for Networks after Unlock

I've ordered an unlock code for my TELUS-branded HTC Desire. I'll be travelling to the USA and want to use the AT&T network.
I've inserted the AT&T SIM that I received from them. When the phone boots, I enter my unlock code and it says "Network unlock successful!", then goes to my home screen. The phone says "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY" and there is no cell reception at all.
I've tried the following:
1) *#*#4636#*#*, WDCMA Only
2) Flashing a different ROM (Using CM6-Nightly now)
3) Flashing a new radio
It's also strange, as each time I reboot the phone and the AT&T SIM Card is in the phone, it asks for my Unlock Code each time.
I've seen a few people report the same or similar issues, but never any resolution.
Any help?

[Q] Network Unlock code trouble

I have the network unlock code for my ROOTED Orange HTC Desire which says it is accepted when entered. Once the phone has booted on the non-Orange sim it doesn't receive a signal from the network and an error is reported when I try and search for available networks. Each time I reboot the phone I have to re-enter the Network Unlock code again.
The SIM card being used is active as I have proved it on another SIM free phone.
I am running Redux-2 2.31 ROM with the original Radio.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Does anybody know how to overcome the problem?
Thanks in advance!

Using wind on unlocked N900T, not registered on network

Hi,
I got a N900T from Canadiamgsm.... it's supposed to be unlocked.
I followed the instruction, charged and turn on with my wind canada sim... It does not call because of sim non registered (no service) ...
I tried from mobile network to select wind, but on right top I saw a circle with a bar in the middle... after some attempts with network mode and the way of selection for networks I had the normal bar that shows you've service, but when I try to call sim non registered again.
and a shield is on the left with written prevention information
an application has been forced to stop for an unauthorized attempt to access the system in your device
I did NOT install anything and I did NOT update android at all, it's on 4.3
Can I check if it's rooted and in case install a custom rom? Would it help or would it back to locked network that is even worse?
Thanks

updating to nf9 lose sim unlock?

I was wondering if anyone knew if I update the baseband to nf9 will I lose sim unlock? I just want to make sure before I do since I use att on a tmobile note 3. Thanks
Updating to NF9 or any other firmwares, roms, mods, themes
or basebands have nothing to do with sim unlock.
Once your sim is unlocked the only way it will be locked again
would be if you or someone else locks it again.
It has nothing to do with any upgrades....
Good luck!
You will not sim lock.
Tip
I turn mine off when upgrading since you reboot alot. I turn it back on when I done. Same for screen lock.
error post
So, do I understand correctly that once I unlocked my phone with chainfire region lock which supposed to unlock SIM as well, my phone remains unlocked even after firmware update?
How about resetting NV? In other words does anybody know where SIM lock status is stored and what one should try to avoid to not disturb it?
The sim lock is tied to your sim card and you can change that by going settings, security, Sim card. The sim card lock protects your phone from being used unless the pin is entered.
Chain fire's region lock is totally different, it allows your phone to change carriers.
Sorry if I confused you. I was just stating when updating your phone you can turn off the security on your sim card and screen lock, so you don't have to enter them each time you reboot. Once your phone is stable reset the security on your sim card.
I think we're talking different SIM locks, I'm talking about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIM_lock , you're talking about SIM card lock menu, but I believe OP mean SIM lock as enforced by service provider to not use another network, otherwise the title of this thread makes no sense.

Can a network unlock code screw up your phone if done wrong?

My UK Vodafone 815 only fully works with certain sim cards. I used an unlock code from ebay and have zero issues with O2/GiffGaff sims.
Now I wanted to use a Life Mobile (EE) sim but the data speed won't go beyond E yet the same sim gets H+ in other phones. After the unlock iD Mobile/Three sims wouldn't make calls.
Can the network unlock have gone wrong somehow?
Still struggling with this....let me ask another question.
Is it possible to flash the original vodafone software (assuming I can find one) to re-lock the phone so I can start again with another unlock?
