I've ordered an unlock code for my TELUS-branded HTC Desire. I'll be travelling to the USA and want to use the AT&T network.
I've inserted the AT&T SIM that I received from them. When the phone boots, I enter my unlock code and it says "Network unlock successful!", then goes to my home screen. The phone says "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY" and there is no cell reception at all.
I've tried the following:
1) *#*#4636#*#*, WDCMA Only
2) Flashing a different ROM (Using CM6-Nightly now)
3) Flashing a new radio
It's also strange, as each time I reboot the phone and the AT&T SIM Card is in the phone, it asks for my Unlock Code each time.
I've seen a few people report the same or similar issues, but never any resolution.
Any help?

Guys I'm over in Europe and attempting to use a vodaphone SIM, I'm running NRG's ROM and radio 4.49.25.17.
T-Mobile had kindly provided the SIM unlock code for my TP2 prior to my trip but when I put in the Vodaphone SIM it doesn't prompt me for an unlock code?
Do I need to manually enter it somewhere?
I think its supposed to prompt you with a screen asking for the code, make sure the Vodafone sim is properly inserted and if that doesn't work you can try looking up the phones engineering mode.
Is the device booting into Windows Mobile & usable with the other SIM card installed? Where did you buy it? Sounds like it may be unlocked already. Anytime I put the wrong SIM in a locked device, on boot up I would get a message for the unlock code & device was unusable, would not progress past this screen. You had to either enter the unlock code or reset & remove the SIM card.
First, check if your device is unlocked by going to Start>Settings>System>Device Info and on one of the tabs, it should say unlocked somewhere. Or, you can check it by downloading ATCommander onto your device and entering [email protected]?40 into ATCommander. It should return 0 if you're unlocked. If it returns 1, you're SIM locked.
Now, if you are still locked, try flashing the Stock Tmobile USA ROM, and insert the Vodafone SIM then. Hopefully, a dialog should come up with an area to enter you unlock code. On the Kaiser, you supposedly had to be running the stock AT&T ROM in order to get the dialog unlock the device with an unlock code. Hopefully that will work. If not, TMobile tech support could probably answer this. Hope that helps
Hi,
I have bought a HTC Desire 2 days ago which is locked on 3 network (Sweden). I purchased an unlock code but i never got the sim lock screen to enter it. I tried entering all kinds of SIM cards and they all work except the phone will only connect to 3 network , so it's allways on Roaming.
How to enter the unlock code?
FYI: When i received the desire it came with android 2.2, i have rooted it and also installed cyanogen firmware.

I have a phone that was locked to 3.
I installed my Orange SIM and when I turned on the device, selected phone I gor the unlock enter code message.

I'm doing that, i put different SIM from different provider but never got a dialog box to enter unlock code
I have the network unlock code for my ROOTED Orange HTC Desire which says it is accepted when entered. Once the phone has booted on the non-Orange sim it doesn't receive a signal from the network and an error is reported when I try and search for available networks. Each time I reboot the phone I have to re-enter the Network Unlock code again.
The SIM card being used is active as I have proved it on another SIM free phone.
I am running Redux-2 2.31 ROM with the original Radio.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Does anybody know how to overcome the problem?
Thanks in advance!
So I sim unlocked my GT-S5660m with the BML5 method and it is also rooted. It was originally locked to Virgin/Bell and I have a Fido sim. The unlocked worked as I checked the lock status and they are all off.
The problem is that when I put my Fido sim card in it takes it and shows me Fido as the network I'm on but it says that I'm roaming? (the little R icon by the signal bars shows). How is it possible that I am roaming on the network I'm supposed to be on?? Has anyone run into something like this?
Quick update. Did a factory reset and battery pull and now it asks for the network unlock pin code again. I enter it and it unlocks it again but it seems the unlock doesn't stick...
I have an HTC Desire 816 from Virgin Mobile currently on stock Lollipop. It was previously on CyanogenMod but I switched back to unlock the network. I'm trying to unlock the phone with a foreign sim card. I've been trying to get the unlock code prompt to show up by booting with the unauthorized sim in. I get a prompt to put the sim card's pin in, then I get an "invalid sim" notification but never an unlock code prompt. The sim is currently activated & it works in a different phone. Also tried a different sim that also has service, but same thing.
Tried rooting the phone & disabling system write protection to use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44255011&postcount=10
I also tried different combinations of dial codes to get the unlock prompt to pop up. Nothing seems to work.
I thought about trying to get S-OFF next and checking the CID, but would this make a difference? No idea what else I could try.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
I spoke with jcase he said sunshine should work now but it is untested on a v.m version, sunshine has network unlock for sprint devices and that's what v.m network uses
