You never PM'ed me or mentioned anything to me about using my PACMan as a base ROM. I would have preferred if you were more courteous and asked for permission first.
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
As an addition, developers have the right to hold exclusivity over their work for as long as it is deemed necessary by the dev or freely share it. However, if the work is claimed as exclusive, it must remain as such. No selective sharing will be allowed (ie allowing certain people to use it and not others). Should the dev decide to start sharing the work with others, the work automatically becomes fair game for all to use.
In regards to permissions, same rules remain for this but if permission was already given, unless there is a very valid reason, it cannot be revoked (same applies to major updates on the work). Under that same premise, permissions cannot be denied unless the work is exclusive or under severe circumstances.
In plain English: If you want to keep your work exclusive, go for it. However, if you are going to share your work, do it fairly.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA (including but not limited to ROMs, RUUs, apps, games, kernels, themes, icons, etc) unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.

In regards to what happened with strongsteve earlier this evening, I hope that you will come to the realization that you made a mistake. I know that you are attempting to work it out with Steve directly, but that resolution could, and should, be an admission of your misstep and immediate correction of the error.
I don't think anyone on here would argue with your logic in breaking the forums up into general topics. But in this case, the area was gray at best. If all of Steve's users and supporters knew his work and his information to be in the Dev section, what is the harm in leaving it in the Dev section? Instead, you so insulted a great contributor to the point that he felt compelled to shut his project down. I would strongly argue that that is far more harmful than having Steve's work appear in the Dev section of the forum.
I'm not suggesting that the notion of sub-forums be removed. We can't have chaos here. But in the case of something so gray, something so questionable, you made a bad call. Hell, I'm sure it is just a matter of time before this thread gets moved. But I wanted Steve and his supporters to read this, and this is the sub-forum they are trolling.
So I ask you to simply right your wrong. Because if you don't, a great many of us are going to miss out on some fantastic DEV WORK that Steve is doing.
So what I miss?

This is clearly a themed ROM - using a base that is a deodexed base of the stock ROM. This is not an Original Development ROM, but is a themed ROM - so it is moved to Themes & Apps. It is entirely appropriate to place themed ROMs in the Themes section.

Also in regards to "original" development. This isn't the international thread for the galaxy s2. They have separate sections for original development and the other normal development. We have one, it's called development, and the developer was only developing

Not to troll but I'm sure this thread will be closed in a few so I'd like to comment about this situation.. I don't know the full jist but I would think that we as a community would do anything in our power to keep these devs happy cause without them we got NOTHING...Well maybe Rootzwiki but Like I just said....NADA!!! So I support Steve all the way!!!
Considering how few roms have been developed so far we should be embracing all that we have. Looking over the thread I can see how this decision by the mods is heavy handed.
What ROM did Steve make?

one less dev. not cool.

I think you missed the point here - no one is saying what has been done here isn't worthy - quite the contrary. This is an effort to move things that are original development and separate them from things that are MOD's and Themes. There is a difference between creating a ROM from scratch and theming someone else's work by taking pieces from here and there, making changes and then zipping it up into an update.zip.

This is ridiculous. Has anyone here made a rom from scratch?!? I'd love to meet a dev who can create their own rom without ANYTHING from samsung and sprint. Steve's odexed roms are top notch and some of the best roms I've used. No los, no problems. As for people who say you can flash separate mods, you can to some extent but I've found even trying to flash the stock kernel to be a pain for some roms. Steve may have used other elements such as the ICS theme but he gave credit for whom it was due and he made one of my fav roms. Leave it in the DEV section!
This is not a school we are grown people that are subpose to make a community of something we enjoy since when did everyone get there panties In a twist and further more I like to see the moderator Dec anything cause last time I check every rom has sprints of base and everey. Rom thread has thank yous to other devs. Tweaks . Let us work together cause if stuff like this keeps happening people are gonna start jumping ship to rootswiki it ppc. And that's my 2 cents VERY DISAPPOINTED XDA!

Yes, you can flash separate mods if you are deodexed, but Steve odexed some of those mods that otherwise were only meant to be used on deodexed roms by their original developers. As I understand, he was working on odexing others as well. In addition, the other roms on here include all sorts of mods created by others. The all also give credit where credit is due, Steve included as stated previously.
Please leave Strongsteve's roms in the dev section as he has created the only odexed roms with the goodies we all want to have and was continually adding more as he revised the original mods to be compatible with an odexed rom.
PLEASE!! be nice to Strongsteve's he does deserve the respect..... at the same time I wanna give a shoutout to Strongsteve's for all the great job he has done. I thank you very much.
I totally agree with this and feel they are way off base. I support strongsteve fully.
It takes a lot to admit being wrong but that is what needs to happen here from mods.
It was nice to finally see odexed getting some respect not to mention the dev section for this phone finally getting a good amount of activity.
A good thing has been taken away. Please reconsider.

I've wanted to create my own ROMs for a while since I had my old Evo but didn't get around to it. I know that the easiest and most common way for newbies is through the Android Kitchen but I've read that the kitchen is meant mostly for HTC phones and the initial list that I saw here on XDA (updated in Summer 2012) does not include our Galaxy SIII. It does include almost all of the other Galaxy models. I also read something about YAFFS having something to do with the kitchen too, that most high-end devices don't include this which is a reason why the program doesn't support our devices.
Anyway, I have read that there is a possibility that it was supported or there was a file that I could use for it. So I was wondering if this was a method through Android Kitchen or another way of creating a custom ROM.
Do some research on "Aroma Installer". Also, pm a developer of a rom that you find stable. Ask them if you can use their rom as a base. That is a great place to start. Even before you ask, just download a rom. You can load it on your device, modify it on your phone, and zip it up. Just do not post it for anyone else's use without asking the developer. If you don't want to use another developers work, start with stock as your base. I strongly recommend that you start there, gain some knowledge, do a ton of reading, and report back after. For the most part, developers are very friendly and willing to help. However, they don't want to teach you the basics or the lingo. I build my own roms, just for me. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I've seen these teams across various communities and scenes but I'm curious in what sorts of ways do each member in team contribute to the overall project? Is it like a construction site where you have a welder, crane operator, etc. where each person does a different job or is it something different?

well i look at it like this, Im the founder of Team Rejectz but this isn't a pyramid or some type of dictatorship, nor will you be judged for being new. we're more like family and all though some of us have our own projects we still look out for each other and teach each other what ever we learn or know. Its always good to know that if you ever need help with something, there's a teammate a text a way or call, to help you out and make sure your getting the right info and not some imitation developing.

From the rules:
11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something.
Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling.

Seems pretty clear, if you require payment for certain features, you can't use xda to advertise your product. If the free/paid versions offered the same functionality, there would be no problem.
That's BS!
Just searched for JKay's Deluxe Framework for SIII and that thread also disappeared -> so 2 GREAT things were not only closed but completly deleted from XDA.
LegendK made his simplistic framework with some goodies (FREE), the awesome "MultiWindow App/MOD" (FREE) for it and - if you wanted more - you were able to DONATE to him to get FULL CONTROL over his stuff.
He didn't break the rules, he just bended them.
So what was the problem?
Someone should start a petition.

Is there a list of the comparison of both ROMs? (Aside to the feature list on the front page.)
btw: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168093 ....is not very informative.
(Besides X11 being based on International vs X10 (TM base) w/ wifi)....
Note: Aside to the minor differences between the two, I figured this will also help satisfy future curiosities...it's always to have a simple answered post.
You answered your own question. That's it.... What they're based off and the features stated in the changelogs. After that it's personal preference. I tried Em both and loved them both equally. I have tmobile and though I don't use wifi calling.... I'd rather stick with the base. They're both awesome bro simple as that.

Tweaked is the rom you want.
And this is the wrong section. Good day
Give them a try, see what you like. I am not running either right now but playing with tweaked. They have all been smooth and stable so you can't really go wrong. With that said you are a senior member since 2010, you know this is not the q&a section and this is not related to development hence does not belong in this section. If you click on the top left link for the tmobile samsung galaxy note 2 that will take you back a section where you will see different sections for general, q&a, themes, apps etc.. This post will be removed/or move based on moderator discretion since it's not in the correct place.
Well what are the odds...if it's simply just that then hey...Cheers! :highfive:
