I'm wondering if anyone else with the LG Optimus G is having problems with the phone taking forever to charge. I had it connected last night for 6 hours and it was only at 30%. Tried again today, but problem persists. I checked to see if anything CPU intensive was running, but there doesn't seem to be.

Oem charger and cable?

I was having a similar problem. I switched the cord and the problem went away. It's weird because the cord worked fine otherwise. I could transfer files and adb shell with no issues.
Since it was under the 15 day exchange policy, Rogers just swapped it for a new phone and this one is fine and taking a charge. Friggin weird how the phone was doing this, I hope the new phone doesn't do the same thing.
Sent from my LG-E971 using Tapatalk 2
A reboot fixed this issue on my case. OEM charger/cable was doing this for reasons I don't comprehend.
Well, the lady who swapped the phone gave me back my old charger & cable, so in my case it seems to have been the phone. Although, I didn't do a factory reset. Hope this doesn't happen again, but if it does, I'll try a reset.

So your charger makes this buzzing noise, but only when the phone isn't connected?
Sent from my LG-E971 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, and actually im not surprised, cause of the charger size.

I can't see how it could be a quality charger if it's buzzing. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the buzzing charger noise or maybe it's a defective/poor quality batch.
im going thru the same problem! it just says it is charging but it wont REALLY charge. my phone boots up but it boots immediately where it "left off" but it shuts off like its out of battery and back into black screen battery icon charging... wtf.....
Please use other charger and see if it works.

Is this normal activity? While connected to the charger and trying to select anything on the screen the screen jerks and selects what it wants. I've only had the phone for 1 full day now and I'm not cool with a new phone acting like this. I noticed after I made the post that this is the wrong section, please move.
Its a well known issue. Try to switch chargers if you have one from another device, it helps sometimes. I use the charger from my girlfriend's Blackberry and it works fine. The stock Samsung chargers are wonky for some reason.

Unfortunately I don't have any other usb chargers this small. Would you happen to know where it was discussed? I'm guessing everyone is cool with this and just dont use the phone while charging? Even though it takes HOURS to charge.
There's quite a few threads about this issue. Just search through general and Q and A.

I tried out a old blackberry charger that I found and that works with no lag. Only thing is that the cord isn't as sturdy as I'd like it to be, but it's good to be able to use the phone while it charges. Plus, it didn't take a long time to charge like with the stock usb.
This is the second time I've posted about this, hopefully someone has a solution. My battery displays that its charging 24/7. Not only is it annoying, but I feel like its depleting my battery life a great deal. I have tried wiping everything and installing different roms but the battery issue persists. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say replace the battery. Also, on another thread like this one, someone said they fixed it by powering off (?), plugging in the charger (making sure it's charging), taking the battery out, let it sit there for an arbitrary amount of time (15 minutes - 2 hours), and then putting the battery back in, rebooting. See if that helps?

Well the only way to make sure its charging is to have the battery in. Otherwise its just plugged in doing nothing

that is probably correct, too. I just said the recommendation didnt state the phone should stay on, so you could probably unplug it while the battery isnt in
on the other hand a new battery is 20$ and the extended one 30$
There is nothing wrong with the battery. You need to change the USB port, see http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23789 AND comment there if you have this issue. This is a serious hardware flaw that Samsung really should look into.
I had this problem also untill I changed the USB charging board.

Hello,
My battery is not charging while the charger is connected !!!
the phone detect the charger but the battery won't charge :s
any idea ?

Try any other chargers?
If yes, and still doesn't work then I'm going with faulty charger port. Just got done setting up a refurb from VZW b/c my g/f's gnex had this issue.
The only other thing I can say to try is bending the tab/metal plate in the middle of the charging port up towards the glass a bit to center it more. May work.
i've tried 3 differents chargers and usb cables.it shows "charging" on lockscreen but the battery drains !
i'll try to bend the metal plate to center it more.hope it will work

I had this problem. The charging port (the thing in the middle of the port) on the phone was bent. Took a safety pin and moved it a bit.

This is a known Samsung hardware problem with GNex. The USB port's contact (in the center) is made from cheap, thin metal -- unpleasantly reminiscent of the Galaxy S cheap, thin metal GPS antenna; a total fail. It's really criminal that Samsung releases product like this, and moreover that they don't halt production and engineer the problem out before putting more lemons out there.
The recommended solution -- bending the contact into alignment -- worked for me for about 5 seconds. Repeat 5 times, and then the phone simply wouldn't start up.
Your best solutions:
1. If it's under warranty, send it in for a fix
2. If it's not, search this forum for instructions on buying (ebay?) and replacing the USB port.
In either case, I'd worry about the problem re-occurring. I bought the very overpriced desk dock so that I can charge using the pogo pins. However, in my car I still need to use the USB cable ... very carefully.
I wouldn't ordinarily get phone insurance, but in this case I'm considering it. Not sure if it would be a covered incident. Does anyone know of a well-priced third-party insurance company that actually provides the coverage that one expects?
Hi there.
Has anyone managed to fix this issue?
My phone has the same problem. When I try to charge it, battery icon changes to charging animation, but battery percentage will not go up. In settings, status of battery is "discharging". Also, battery settings page does not show any application using battery other than "Android OS" and "Screen" which i find strange - usually at least 10 apps are shown on this page.
Have tried different wall chargers and USB cables, have tried getting the pin in the micro-USB port to the middle. still no help.
On the latest version of JBSourcery ROM, if that helps.
Thanks.
battery calibration?
this may be the case if you recently flashed a new ROM and your battery is not properly calibrated yet. you may try to let the battery completely discharge and charge again (of course, this only works, if it is indeed not a hardware issue also, use only wall chargers)... repeat that a few times and your battery should be calibrated again... had this problem a few times after flashing a new ROM, but that fixed it.
So I immediately fell in love with the fast charging capability of this phone. Unfortunately ive noticed its not charging as fast as it used to. I ran it down to 2% yesterday and put it on the charge. I get the slow charge in the notification, which ive been getting a lot, so I unplug and replug and it dosent return. 2hrs later I'm at 28%, when I wake up to go to work its only at 91%, problem is I woke up for work at 10 and put it on the charge at like 3:45. Anyone else noticed this?? This isnt the first time its happened just never this bad... I'm using the stock charger. I tried others but same thing. I've noticed sometimes that if it doesn't make a good connection it will say Slow Charge in the status bar. When that happens I just disconnect and reconnect.

I used a different cable from a Kindle because it was larger. Figured as long as it was connected to the same wall adapter the phone came with it would be fine. Unfortunately it looks like the only way to get the fast charge speed into use LG's cable which is way to short.

Yes I have charged it 100% multiple times, The only difference is i use a sammy charger that outputs 0.7 amps once in a while. I dont suspect the charging thing to do this.

Like Highfigh suggested check how long you can run on a full charge. If you get some good hours in then maybe the battery % is not reporting back properly. A reset/restore could possible resolve that issue.
I believe I am getting pretty good charge. I will try once again, I was thinking this might be something with stock rom and hence I posted it online. Thanks every one for the help

exactly the same story here. in my case it's not so easy to turn it on. it would seem like the device is completely discharged, even if it just showed some 40 % battery left. i have to wait several hours to even try to bring it back to recovery mode. very long press does nothing. it happened couple of times already. very annoying with such seemingly superb tablet. i'm not living in the us of a, so no quick replacement for me
That's bad I can turn on mine in a few minutes. Again mine happens very rarely. I also get an excellent battery life. How long does yours go on a charge.
I would also like to know if there is any kind of Logs that we can look at. It's getting irritating, did you try rooting your device to see if that might fix the problem.
