Chemistry Rom HELP! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Love this rom. I'm on V6, and so far every thing is smooth and functional except native hotspot. Tried reflashing, both dirty and clean but nothing. My PC can see and connect but no internet. I've searched this site but the few I've found with this same problem weren't answered. WiFi Tether works but phone gets hot. Suggestions very welcome. Thanks XDA community.

I dont think any developers have been able to get native hotspot working. And for the record, your phone would heat up regardless because tether is a very memory intensive process

I used to have an evo lte and WiFi Tether made it hot where as the native hotspot did not.

I have an evo shift and both native tether and wifi tether make it hot.

Others with this same rom say the native hotspot is working. I am just trying to find out if it is a settings issue or a mod flash or something else.

Its going to get hot, as its an intensive process. You can try reducing the power on the transmit, but other than that change you rom governor and scheduler is the only thing you can do.

Thx, but I'm trying to get the native hotspot working.

Does anyone know if they have wifi tether what app are u using if so

Long story short. Wireless tether for root works. BUT it'll kill WiFi. You can only use one or the other per reboot. Unless something has changed.
Edit. On ZVB anyway

WiFi Tether for Root, or Wireless? I have WiFi Tether for Root but it requires a slew of steps to work, I've read.
Haven't gotten it to work with the suggested settings, but haven't bothered spending the time to utilize a workaround.

Each device is different. You should look for support for the device in question rather than something completely different.
Try device profile = generic wlan(0)
Setup method = netmasterd
Reload wireless driver checked

Did t mobile block my hacked hot spot?

I recently rooted my gs3 and flashed synergy rom and used the trevE hot spot mod.. off and on for 2 days.. Then I got a text from t mobile saying that my hot spot has been blocked.. When I tried to use it again it would not show up on my computer anymore.. I then flashed darkstarker and jedi5 with the same results.. I had the same results with the foxfi app.. But with the stock hot spot it can connect but no data.. With the hacked trevE mod and foxfi it won't even show up for me to connect anymore.. Did t mobile do this and Is there a way I can fix this?
Please help..

Are you using a VPN or just the hotspot app ?
If the later, use a VPN, too. There is a guide on how to do this in this forum that I followed to do so.
No VPN.. But I'll look it up and see what I can come up with
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
You must and should have used the vpn hotspot shield and they would have not detected. It requires both for this to work without detection

Hacked hot sprint hot spot and multi Window all apps...

Hey all, thanks in advance for reading and possibly replying!
I am currently on mc2 deodexed stock rom, and flashed both the mc2 hot spot fix for sprint native hotspot, as well as the multi Window for all apps zip. No matter what I do (fix perms, dalvik / cache wipe, reflash, redownload), I cannot get both of these features working together!
When the hotspot works, multi window only allows all apps to fill the entire screen. When I flash m/w, hotspot fails to launch with the default error message from sprint.
I really want to run the stock hotspot over wifi tether, simply because the main difference between both tether apps is that the native app allows dlna or ftp server services to be recognized by another device connected to it, like the phone is both a server and a separate gateway, where wifi tether treats the phone only as a hot spot.
I use this feature to stream from my phone to an ipad or laptop, without the need for a tertiary device to handle routing duties.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Its possibly due to both mods modification of the services.jar maybe they overwrite each other somehow. Hopefully a dev can shed some light on this

Here I have only tested this on Synergy ROM R78 which is a deodexed rom. I have implemented the hotspot mod that was posted by crawrj so i take no credit. I merely added the mod in with the all apps multiwindow mod. If you flash I'm not responsible for any disasters this may cause to your phone. Make a backup before you flash. Hope this helps you out
Wow! Thanks! I'll try now. Already nandroided.

Worked like a charm! Thank you so much! I rely heavily on both these features, it's the only reason I stay with touchwiz!

WiFi tether app

Is there a WiFi tether app for stock I was on cm and that worked great
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Irrelevant but what made you go back to stock?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
Some of the bugs on cm but I thinlk I'm going back I hate the roam question on stock
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Ah. Well as for your question, I haven't found any wifi tethering apps that work. I currently use Pdanet as either usb tether or Bluetooth tether.

this works for me
Only thing is you need to turn off wifi and restart your phone before turning on the tethering, and you'll need to restart the phone after to turn wifi back on.

Use a WiFi tether app. WiFi tether for root from the Playstore, or the Trevor? version of it on xda. If you can't find them let me know and I'll get you the links a little later.
EDIT: Found some links. One has the TrevE WIFI tether that some people use.

This. WiFi tether seems to work well for most people. Be aware that after turning it on you will probably need to restart the phone for wifi to work again afterward.

On the galaxy devices i have used these apps and the moded hotspot and never had to reboot to get on wifi. Is this a common issue on the LGOG?

It's common for our JB. Any stock ROM requires a reboot per WiFi or tether.

The new version of the Wifi Teather App works without having to reboot. Just enable Wifi Driver Reload 2 option under settings.

What settings are you using? Every time I have Wifi Driver Reload 2 selected, it won't tether properly. It looks fine on the phone, but the computer won't pick up the signal.
I've used PDAnet and haven't had any problems switching between hotspot and back. Hotspot works great and switching back is easy (no reboot). I use it all the time for my tablet when no WiFi is available. Just thought I'd mention it.
