Does anyone know if they have wifi tether what app are u using if so

Long story short. Wireless tether for root works. BUT it'll kill WiFi. You can only use one or the other per reboot. Unless something has changed.
Edit. On ZVB anyway

WiFi Tether for Root, or Wireless? I have WiFi Tether for Root but it requires a slew of steps to work, I've read.
Haven't gotten it to work with the suggested settings, but haven't bothered spending the time to utilize a workaround.

Each device is different. You should look for support for the device in question rather than something completely different.
Try device profile = generic wlan(0)
Setup method = netmasterd
Reload wireless driver checked

No this isn't my thread as I'm an at&t lgog user but I playing with now as I type this and Wi-Fi tether for root does work with some fiddling to setup but upload speeds are the same as if I were using the phone but download speeds are horrid trying to fix this now more than happy to post settings when I get it right p.s no Wi-Fi issues after using the app

Hey Peepz,
I rooted my GS3 and installed WiFi tether. Selected the Samsung Galaxy Nexus profile and the general ICS/JB profile.
The problem is that WiFi tether only works sometimes, so I enable it. work with it. turn it off and maybe 2 or 3 hrs later turn it on again - it says "press to stop tethering" but no WiFi hot spot is visible to my devices (iPad, Laptops, etc). Then i turn tether off, on, off, let it sit there, restart the phone and once ever other try (dozens and dozens of trys) it works.
Is there something I am missing? Btw I have two GS3s and the same happens to the other one as well...
Yeah same here. I have to start stop a few times then I see the wifi network.

Have you seen a pattern? I haven't had much time with the phones yet (approx. 2 to 3 days). I tried turning off WiFi before tethering but have not found a solution yet. are there any other apps I should try? is WiFi tether the only one? It seems like thats the one people are using...
Are you running any custom roms? Native tether works perfect for me. Other than that i think the Wi-Fi tether for root users 3.2 beta is the best after that

Try turning your screen off to 10 min instead of 15 seconds. I tried that and it worked for me. Don't know if you guys are using juice defender but that might be an issue as well.

I have it at 1 min, but I'll try that.

Oh okay native as in the one in more settings. I think the T-Mobile app shortcuts to that. But nvm that doesn't play nice if you're stock rooted. Why not run a custom Rom and use it? I don't have a tether plan and it works fine for me

Same prob. with my Teth.
I got the same problem with my USB tethering. I plug in my CPU, it's working perfectly for 5 minutes, after that, everything stop. Same with my WIFI Hot Spot. Dunno what's the problem ?!? Maybe it will work fine with Jelly B ! Hope it comes fast for videotron.

It's not in the market. I'll try to find a link. You can Google it.

I was asking the guy i quoted
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Mine works, however after a few minutes, the data craps out. Any suggestions? I'm using the auto profile. If I leave it for a few hours, turn it back on, then it usually works again for a few minutes. Is this something Wind is doing to stop you from using lots of data? I have an unlimited plan.
Do you mine sharing your settings. If I use wifi tether straight out of the box, default everything I'm getting redirected to the Tmob page which says my cost will be $14.95 per. When I change profiles to say Generic Ics/JB and change to channel 6 I still connected to the phone but I get no "internet connection". I've checked ipconfig and of course it shows I've connected to the phone and dhcp has assign me an ip, 192.168. something but I got nothing. Right now I'm fu***ed. I so wanted to call comcast and tell them... well you know!
I still may just pay the $14.95 to Tmob instead of $70 to Comcastm makes sense. Before tmob shut me down I was getting 8-10 down and 1-1.5 up on my lappy thru the GS3!
Any tips or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
If you get the upsell page then change the user agents. What Rom are you using... why don't you use native tethering? When it says no internet connection... just wait awhile until it reconnects you should get internet after that.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I'm using cm10 nightly and I did use the hotspot option thru the phone to test the speed. I knew Tmob would get wise and block me which they did hence the sell thru page. So I down loaded Wifi Tethering and installed but wasn't too sure about the setting? I also installed the user agent pluggin for Chrome. Then I selected "Chrome on Windows" as my common user agent and here we are.
Does anyone have a WiFi teather app confirmed to be working on or OGs? With or without root?
I am using pdanet tether and receive 1\2 the signal strength but still looking for a wifi hotspot app that will work.

why is it I can not get speedtest.net to come up and all my web pages are pretty slow to load on my laptop
any further configuration settings needed for this WIFI tether app
No other settings that i know of. But I'm really starting to wonder about the radio on this phone. It just seems to have good and bad moments. With WiFi also.

Are you able to get to speedtest.net on the computer you WiFi into your phone with to see what difference is between the 2 tests
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
At work, so no. Honestly, never been concerned with speeds. As long as it works im fine. Might be able to test later with my tablet tho.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
Still think the radio in this thing is not that great. Reception fades more with this phone than the one it replaced. And that one sucked too.
Anyway, speedtest was all over. Anywhere from 300k to a best of 1900. Ran it probably 8 or 9 times.

Love this rom. I'm on V6, and so far every thing is smooth and functional except native hotspot. Tried reflashing, both dirty and clean but nothing. My PC can see and connect but no internet. I've searched this site but the few I've found with this same problem weren't answered. WiFi Tether works but phone gets hot. Suggestions very welcome. Thanks XDA community.

I dont think any developers have been able to get native hotspot working. And for the record, your phone would heat up regardless because tether is a very memory intensive process

I used to have an evo lte and WiFi Tether made it hot where as the native hotspot did not.

Others with this same rom say the native hotspot is working. I am just trying to find out if it is a settings issue or a mod flash or something else.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Its going to get hot, as its an intensive process. You can try reducing the power on the transmit, but other than that change you rom governor and scheduler is the only thing you can do.
Thx, but I'm trying to get the native hotspot working.

Use a WiFi tether app. WiFi tether for root from the Playstore, or the Trevor? version of it on xda. If you can't find them let me know and I'll get you the links a little later.
EDIT: Found some links. One has the TrevE WIFI tether that some people use.

What settings are you using? Every time I have Wifi Driver Reload 2 selected, it won't tether properly. It looks fine on the phone, but the computer won't pick up the signal.
I've used PDAnet and haven't had any problems switching between hotspot and back. Hotspot works great and switching back is easy (no reboot). I use it all the time for my tablet when no WiFi is available. Just thought I'd mention it.
