Hi There!
I was using MIUI and noticed my battery life draining quickly, Like, charge it to 100, then restart, then it would just restart with a 13% charge. So I reverted to an old backup that I had based off of the stock sense. Still had the battery problem. So I went into recovery and hit "clear storage" and that sent me into an infinite boot loop. Ah!! lol. I can't even get to recovery. It's only flashing the incredible screen, or if I hold down on the volume, it flickers recovery but I cna't actually do anything, because it's flickering on and off.
Any idea how to fix this?
lol
Thanks!!
Hopefully your situation doesn't turn out as badly as mine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115276
I would suggest this fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12828082#post12828082
But, be cautious.
Thanks for the reply! I took it over the verizon store and they are sending a replacement. They really don't ask a lot of questions with total equipment coverage, lol. I'll bookmark those thread though in case it happens again!
You're sending it on rooted?
Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
I don't really have a choice. What are they going to do, charge me for it?
I was getting bootloops that wouldn't let me past hboot so i couldn't unroot. Took it to a friend that works at a verizon call center. Asked his friend in the refurb dept and he told me if they cant flash their software they'll check for root 100% of the time and charge you. So i did asurion.
I know i know "my friends brothers uncles roommates ex girlfriends dad said.. " but he's always been right before. Not worth a $300 fee

Yeah. $299. I ordered both an asurion replacement and CLNR. Sent the CLNR back without opening and kept the Brand New INC2 from insurance.

DAMN, how much did it cost for the asurion replacement? I have the same problem, I can't even get to hboot, the screen just flashes repeatedly when I try to turn it on.

Do you happen to know how I can get my phone back to non rooted status without being able to boot it(bootloops).
If I did I would still have my Inc1. I loved that phone.
So no I dont. Best bet is to get the Inc 2 and either sell it or wait for the root which should be coming soon

EDIT: Okay, now I have a much bigger problem. I dropped my phone a few minutes ago and the floor totally raped the screen. I now can't see anything I'm doing on there, and I know for a fact that if I bring it to a sprint store to replace it or something, the second they find out it's rooted they'll tell me to gtfo. PLEASE can someone tell me what I can do? Disregard the rest of the post.
I've been having a crap load of force close problems from nearly all of my apps. I resolved to just factory reset my phone, but I need to check here first.
If I factory reset my phone running syndicate, will it mess up my phone? If so, how can I go about doing it without messing up the phone or how do I fix the problem (if any of you know).
And please, no flamers.

Lol dude I'm so sorry about the floor rapping your screen, I'm going to favorite this because of that(x
Anyway on to a more serious note, some stores dont care whether your rooted, but wit that bein said is better to b safe then sorry if you dont care about loosing data then pull the battery wait a little bit and get into donload mode then odin, stock ec05. Now if you do it might be tricky, but pull your bttery an then put it in and get into recovery and try to backup your data using pictures of the menu to guide you. This is all assuming your screen is the only broken part an evrything else works

When my screen got cracked sprint said it has to be replaced and cant be fixed. I was not able to exchange in store. I filed a claim online with asurion and got my phone replaced with a refurbished.

I can't see any of my screen. There isn't just a crack in the screen, the only part of it I can even see is a VERY small part in the bottom right corner. Is there anything I can do that doesn't require me to see or do anything on the screen?
I'd use one of those java apps to view the screen on my computer, but USB debugging is conveniently off right now.

I went to the store yesterday and the guy said I gotta do it online, so from what I know, I go through the process, they send me a refurbished one, and then I send them mine. At that point would my phone being rooted even matter? I mean I couldn't see them being like "WHOA WHOA WHOA, your phone was rooted when we got it here, send your new one back or we'll sue you."

So being the idiot I am, I accidentally hard-bricked my phone because I was flashing back to stock via ODIN, but I happened to install the file that was for my OG Epic (I happened to flash it yesterday) because I saw D700 and automatically assumed it was for my E4GT.
Now I cannot boot into recovery or download and the only thing that happens it he blue LED lights up.
Can someone please explain to me the possible solutions that might work for this?
Thanks in advance.
Is there any connection being made from the computer to the device?
do you know how to open device manager?
Nope, no connection and yes I do.
my guess is if odin doesn't recognize it try using different usb cords. if not jtag might be your only way out. unless you go to sprint and play dumb with a good excuse. sorry to hear that.
I'm gonna go to the Sprint store and play dumb tomorrow. I went today right before it closed and they said that they would have to run diagnostics and open it up. I think they would figure out it was rooted and just give it back to me though.

How long have you had it?
If less than a year.
This is what you will say:
Hi, I was using my phone last night talking to my gf/bf whatever the hell you swing. and suddendly it powered off it. I did notice the phone was getting pretty "hot". At first I thought it was the battery that it died. but when I plugged it into the charger nothing happened and thats why im here.
its still under manufacturer warranty so theres no ****in way they will say no they cant.
Yeah I've only had it for less than 2 months, so I think that they should replace it.
yes so trust me just do what i said and youll have a new phone
I have a question I was flashing Odin3v1.85 and instead of pda,i click bootloader and flash tar file kernel,so now im stuck at galaxysII screen and when i go into recovery its says volume path not found, any help for a fix, thanks in advance.

If you can get back into odin mode my guess would be try to flash back to stock and make sure you put it in the pda and also make sure nothing is checked except for auto reboot. Follow qbking's video on how to unroot/unbrick. This is like I said though assuming you can still get into download mode.
thats what i was thinking of trying, and yes i can get in download mode.
I think I had a bad download flashing a theme. I couldn't get into recovery or Odin and trust me I tried a lot. All I had was a blue light. Took it to a Sprint repair store and said it died charging over night. They tried to bring her back but couldn't. They swapped it out. I know I got lucky. Glad I didn't cancel my insurance. Lol

I actually made that exact same mistake the day I got this phone. I upgraded from the OG epic and just double-clicked the wrong file and didn't check before starting odin. since then I replaced phone, bought a $5 jig online and tested it by making the same mistake on purpose and BOOM!... download mode
I recommend the jig to all my friends with samsung android phones now. it allows you to be a retard
Update: Well today I went to the sprint store and played dumb and told them it just stopped working. They took it in and tried fixing it but couldn't so they ordered a replacement one for me for free So to anyone who's thinking of playing dumb at sprint, try it out, hahahahah
I just hate getting refurbs tho, they always burn in the screen.
I've been lucky,, I well say when my phone was new, got extremely hot all the time.but I've had for 6 months so far.

I totally agree. I gave the Sprint store tech a gift card for Christmas a few years ago... I never have problems getting to the front of the line, or issues with devices.
Here are the circumstances. Was on Stock Deodexed and out of boredom wanted to try SlimNote2. Did a nandroid before flashing SlimNote2.
Flashed SlimNote2 only wiping Dalvik and Cache. Made sure the MD5 matched before doing so. The install was shaky...I had to reboot twice before the phone would finally boot to the main homescreen. At this point I had seen enough and decided to get back into TWRP to restore the nandroid I had just made. IDK WTF happened but a few seconds after the restore began it aborted. Not sure whether my hand swiped something it shouldn't of or what but it just abruptly aborted. Now I when I try to do a normal power up of the phone I'm just stuck at the main boot screen (black background with white letters: Samsung Galaxy Note 2)
I tried to boot up with volume up and volume down to get into either recovery or Download Mode but it's a no go on either.
I'm thinking my only choice is to bring this thing into Sprint and play dumb. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated!
Assuming that you know about download mode, I'm guessing you know about Odin - but you're not able to get into download mode.
Have you tried pulling the battery for 2 minutes then reinstalling it and trying to get into download mode?
or
Have you tried pulling the battery, and hooking up the usb cable (from your computer) to your phone and again trying to get into download mode without the battery installed?
These were both tricks of "un-bricking" Sammy's Epic 4g (my current phone - hopefully soon to be replaced w/the note 2).
Hope either option gets you back on track!

thanks but both methods not working.
...same deal with trying to get into recovery?
If so, leave the battery off for longer, maybe 10mins.
The fact that you can get the splash screen up is a great sign, most true bricks are...true bricks (nothing happens).

didn't realize it involved the Home key as well...unfortunately I may have jumped the gun with this.
Impulsively I took the phone to Sprint convinced that they would be unable to do anything with the phone. I was wrong. They apparently got the phone into Download mode and realized that there is a custom OS on there. They asked if I tampered with the phone and I said NO. They went on to say that if the phone is rooted my warranty will be voided. I think I may have made a big mistake by leaving my phone there <punches self in nutsack!>

sooooooooo, if they void your warranty, get your phone back and it is a 2 minute fix. you'll just be out a warranty and not a phone.
Yeah, I'm an impulsive jackass! So after one of you guys pointed out that I wasn't trying to access recovery/download mode properly I sprinted back to Sprint (bad pun intended.) Of course the store was closed already but the employees were still in there. Lucky for me one of them came over to the door and entertained me. I told the guy I just wanted my phone back and he said he couldn't service it because it had a custom ROM. Then he showed me my custom rom as he handed the phone back (it was in TWRP...dumb bastid don't know the difference between recovery and a rom :cyclops I was happy to the phone was in recovery.
Sure enough I went back home, threw in my SD card and just restored my last nandroid w/o a problem!
Wow, I feel like a real fool. I was so used to entering recovery/download mode with 2 buttons I totally forgot that this phone called for a 3 button method to enter recovery. I thank all you guys for the feedback!

Ya, just get your phone back, and it doesn't void their responsibility of trying to assist you in getting the phone operable again. Maybe void your warranty with Samsung. If it were me, I would rather try to revive the phone myself than let them try to load the stock rom on it. Just take what the6 say with a grain of salt, some of these techs want to try to make you think you've committed a felony by opening the OPEN android os...
Believe me, I know, I own a Service Center. I always enjoy the modders that come in and talk about what is working , not working etc. Or when they try to say they didn't do anything to their device, knowing we know, then they find out we are " pro modding" and its a good experience for everyone. We find it a challenge to unbrick bad flashes and mistakes. ..
Good luck with it, pm me if you need help with an exchange, etc.

Hey no problem, I've been there myself, asking wtf is wrong, great, I bricked it ! Then ding ding... oh ya, it was THAT. Sometimes I am working on several different devices , roms, and mods within minutes of each other, swapping back and forth -off odin with one, flashing into recovery on the next, moving a rom to an sd card on another. ... and each device having its own quirks, its easy to forget the little things. Glad you got up and running again. At least the store let you get your phone back after close. Its always fun to look up after close and see a customer standing there rattling the door- never know what your going to get, lol.

If you cannot get into any mode they will more than likely just jtag it into download and flash a factory image.
To answer your question, no they wont. I did the same thing and TEP with Sprint and got a brand new phone in box the next day. No charge to me and they never came back even though it was rooted.

What i was saying is go to a repair sprint store, as long as you have TEP, and they will look at it for less than 5 minutes, determine they cant do anything and order you a new one, so you dont directly deal with Samsung. Thats what I did. I just played dumb lol
Flashed an International ROM. I was being dumb. But; I guess you learn from your mistakes. Read read read read READ is what you do in order to avoid a hard brick. That's the lesson I learned

Yeah, it is quicker to TEP the phone and get a new one the next day, but it's also much more expensive ($150 vs. $60). Which one is "better" really depends on your situation. If you have the money and can't wait for a repair (due to work, family, etc), the $150 deductible (and one-day turnaround) is a great option. If money is tight (as it is for a lot of us), the 10 days is much more palatable than the extra $90.
To each his own, I say.
