[Q] Differences between Gio GT-S5660 and Gio GT-S5660L - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Well look recently I discovered that in this web site I can find roms, kernels, tutorials, etc. but just for Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660 and my phone is a Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660L and please someone can tell me if all the content for Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660 works on my model (Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660L) why is that "L" at the end and why in this web site my model doesnt appears.
And before I change my rom when I turn on my phone appears this "GALAXY GIO GT-S5660L" and the when I installed a rom for Galaxy Gio GT-S5660 that screen chaged for "GALAXY GIO GT-S5660"

shouldnt be any hardware changes, so you can just flash a s5660 rom, the only thing is that it will be called s5660 and not s5660L.

GT-S5660L is the Galaxy Gio model of a certain region (some parts of Europe?). That means that it comes with its own region-specific baseband (phone service in a way). Never flash a ROM via Odin (other than your stock ROM) unless you have removed the baseband file (amss) or you have a Odin flashable version of your baseband. Though if you are flashing a ROM via custom recovery (on the phone), you're safe. Just remember to root first and you should be able to flash any Gio ROMs on your model. When you turn your phone on, the model appears. When it says 'GT-S5660' after you flash a ROM and turn on your phone, that just means the ROM wasn't designed for use on your specific model. It was designed for use on all Galaxy Gios in general. All models (unless defective or otherwise different) of the Gio are the same hardware-wise.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Gio

Hi all,
I am fairly new to XDA, and used the HTC Touch Diamond 2 thread to install android on my device. However, since the short batterly life bugged me alot I decided to get the rather cheap Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 until new phones end 2011/begin 2012 will be released.
I tried to search for a S5660 thread on the XDA forums but I couldn't find anything about this phone. Did I not search properly or is this phone just no interesting to developers? I'm looking for info mainly on a android 2.3 update.
Regards
I've been searching for this too for few days now with zero result.
I hope someone soon come out with the utility to root it easily.
Thanks.
My wife has the Gio. So i hope that we find many people who are interested on customizing this phone.
what will happen if I use one click root application for other galaxy device? has anyone try it before?
how i root my samsung galaxygio S-5660

There is no way yet to remove the galaxy gio, free (but you can buy a code to unlock it).
SuperOneClick workss, I hope there comes a rom/kernel soon to get it OC to 1ghz
Thanks,
Does this mean that the method of Hex-editing "nv_data.bin" file that works on Galaxy S is not for Gio (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045)
Also i want to backup the /efs and imei. But right now the phone is new and very fast and i am wondering if it safe to root it without slowing down or bricking the phone. I really want to backup the system folder as it is under contract so i need not to void warranty.
Can any give some advice plz????
I can confirm this works fine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
but too bad I can't find modified ROM for this model.
After I installed ROM Manager, when I attempted to install CWM, Gio is not listed in the phone model available.. It's just too bad.

I can also confirm SuperOneClick works fine on the Galaxy Gio. But I'm in the same boat - ROM Manager doesn't recognize the Gio. Any hope?
I rooted with SuperOneClick, straight up install and run with nothing fancy, and root works just fine. I haven't noticed any difference in performance, better or worse. However, ROM Mananger and Clockwork don;t support the Gio yet, and there's no mods out that I know of so overclocking isn't yet an option either.
Now its clear that Gio can be rooted with SOC but as a noob i have two further questions, some help needed plz !
1- Is there any possible way of backing up the current phone state so that in case of screw up i can revert back to original settings to claim warranty ???
2- Lastly if above is successful then does any one know how to remove the network lock to use different operator sims???
I want to know more my GT-S5660 samsung galaxygio. send root software in my postbox
/efs explored
Hey guys,
has any of u tried to explore the /efs or backed up the /efs directory successfully???

[Q] Flasing a Galaxy s custom rom on Galaxy w

Hello, may seem silly my question, but i was wondering,if i will be able to flash a custom rom made for the Galaxy S,on Galaxy Wonder, would it be possible, without bricking it?And if so,would i will able to reflash my Wonder, with the boot loader if is ok,to his original stock rom?Just in case,if someting get wrong,it will be able to flash his stock rom(the original Wonder european rom)?Because, seeing the hardware that the Galaxy S plus has,it seems pretty much, like the hardware that the Galaxy Wonder has on.(1,4 ghz, single core,512 mb of RAM,5 mpx,hd recorder, and stuffs). What all of you are saying, its seems new my question,im hopeing to get some answers. Thanks in advance. My phone already is rooted, and haz the ginger 2.1 ICE on it,with the custom recovery,rz,and the latest CWM.

Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 install stock ROM

Hi,
I have flashed Jelly bean pre release version into my Samsung Galaxy s3 and it was loaded successfully. Before doing this I forgot to note my current version and build numbers.
Now I want to restore my S3 with factory stock ROM. I tried by downloading some ROMs but after instaling, it is showing the samsung startup logo and not going forward.
my question is how can I find the suitable ROM for my mobile?
Here are the mobile details:
Model: GT-I9300
FCC ID: A3LGTI9300A
Carrier : T Mobile
Country : UK

To reboot, or not to reboot?

Hi everybody, i have two phones almost similar, a galaxy Gio and a galaxy Ace. Gio has cyanogenmod 7, Ace has stock rom, both of them are rooted.
When i install system files (i.e. using AdAway-->update or Busybox-->install), Ace with stockrom automatically reboots itself but Gio with cyanogenmod don't even require reboot.
The question is... why does ACE reboots? is there a watchdog in stock rom? what if it reboots before the update is completed successfully? Can I disable it?
Thank you
Jack
I have same problem from my Gio but after flashing custom rom
It been fixed so I tink is much more easier flash some stable rom than try disable it

[Q] Flashing official 4.1.2 onto i8150T

Okay so at the moment i have the 4.1.2 Xperian UI ROM which is based off arco's CM10 installed on my gt-i8150t. I've been using custom roms since samsung's official 2.3.6 gingerbread rom, so i've never had samsung's 4.1.2 installed. However I feel like i want to install it right now (the 4.1.2 XXAMH2), but the only problem is it is for the I8150 and not the I8150T. Will this cause any issues with basebands or bricking, or will it just flash as usual (the only difference in the "T" model is the network band it uses).
Thanks in advance
Samsung stopped supporting the W at 2.3.6......so if you've found a 4.x.x rom....it ain't official....it's a custom rom.......

Bro. Its not new. You're flashing the wrong thing. XXAMH2 is for Galaxy Win, not Galaxy W. There have been plentiful rumors of this, but its not true. Samsung (being the arses that they are) ditched this phone and its community. XXAMH2 is for I8552, not I8150.
