When I connect my phone to PC, everything is perfectly fine. However, I want it to run in USB mode instead of appearing under 'portable devices'. This is because I want to run a software to recover a lost file and this software requires my phone to be in USB mode. Anyone knows how to do it?
Thanks

Hey all!
I am having a real problem connecting my S2 to the PC. I have tired it on many different PC's and macs and they all have the same problem.
Here's the problem,
When i connect my S2 via usb mass storage it simple just charges and won't been seen by the PC. I downloaded Kies and this also has the same problem, although i can use the wifi option i cannot update the phone this way!
I have tried it in debug mode and this did not work, and the people at samsung over the phone cant seem to work out the problem either.
I bought the phone over Ebay a couple of days ago so it is second hand, and on version 2.0.3.
If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it!
go to your phone, type *#7284#
switch UART and USB both to PDA mode
click the qualcomm USB settings button below
select MTP + ADB if you want Media mode and ADB, or PTP + ADB if you want Photo mode + ADB
click OK
take out your USB from your phone and plug it back in
then it should work
Hi all, how are you?
I have a Galaxy Nexus unrooted stock with Android 4.3 (JWR66V).
After the update to 4.3, my device has stopped working in MTP/PTP mode.
I mean, When I connect my phone to my Notebook USB port, thus nothing happens on my notebook or my phone.
When my phone is connected to my notebook the notification dialog to select between MTP/PTP modes doesn`t show up anymore in the phone (it only says that is charging).
I have tried to re-install the drivers on my notebook, and It didn't fix this issue.
I have also tried to the a factory reset on my phone, and It did't fix the issue either.
Besides, I tried also to connect the phone with a different USB cable and it didn't fix the issue either.
Please, May someone help me?
Thanks in advance

I have no idea of what is going on and why USB stopped working after 4.3 update?
How do I troubleshoot this issue?any clues?
I figure out that on Android 4.3 I have ti go to Settings->Storage->Usb Computer Connection and manually select the connection mode...
(I am not sure Why the notification pop up doesn't show anymore on the phone when I connect it to the PC using the USB cable)

Click to collapse
You are totally right... dont know the stu... option doesnt appears clear. On my S3 I did the same, but the option wasnt visible... you must click over USB (even it appearing as dimmed) then a USB CONNECTION (or something like) appears you must click over and then a screen with MPT option will be available... For godsake WHY such thing isnt available on settings or on shortcut menu by default is beyond my understanding.
Hi I realize that my phone not able to connect via usb to any device (adb, fastboot, etc). Its simply do not visible in PC. it works only charging mode. No i have flashed TWRM recovery but im not able to put to storage any ROM. Did anyone saw that kind of problem ?
Hi, my phone stopped being able to get a USB data connection. The port is physically intact and does not wiggle. I've tried two different Macs and one PC, different USB-A to -C cables (all verified by Benson Leung). Also toggled USB debug, MTP and PTP modes from Developer Options, rebooted phone and computer. When I plug the phone in, it only goes to Charging mode. Android File Transfer doesn't see it and 'adb devices' comes back empty. There is no notification offering me to select connection type. Did I miss anything or is it time to send it in? Thanks, Tony
What OS are you running on your Windows - checking your Device Manager under Control Panels - are all the Google / N5X drivers installed and working correctly before this ? Try uninstalling, reboot PC and re-install them - and, use different USB port to connect the cable (what kind of connections are you using ??)
Can you run ADB ?
Thanks I'm primarily using a Mac (10.10.5) but the PC was running Vista. It was a borrowed PC so I didn't install the drivers. I don't think it's a driver issue though since nothing shows up in device manager and the phone doesn't offer to switch out of charge-only mode. Also the same Mac worked previously.
So I have my girlfriend's water-damaged HTC Desire 620 and am trying to recover some data not stored anywhere else. The screen works and the phone boots but digitiser does not work. It will charge and connecting to my PC it recognises it as an MTP device that is empty. The phone is locked, there's no custom recovery and adb debugging is not enabled. My attempts to resolve so far are:
1. New digitiser/digitiser+screen assembly failed - I assume the connector is faulty.
2. OTG cable with mouse - mouse doesn't work, light doesn't come on. Cable/mouse aren't faulty as checked with own phone.
3. Android SDK / adb - when booted normally, no adb devices are recognised at all. When I boot in recovery it recognises a device but it is unauthorised. As I have zero access to the phone itself, I can't physically enable debugging on it.
So that's as far as I've gotten. From what I gather, without the device being authorised I won't be able to get adb to work. I am way out of my depth at this point but any help would be amazing. Even just to know if this really is a lost cause or not.
Thanks
