Emails do not auto-sync - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've noticed that after I wake up, my new emails are not showing up. When I check my email app it says "last synced yesterday at x:xx". Right now I have it set at peak hours 6am-10pm 7 days a week refreshing every hour. I have checked my email at hours after i wake up at 7 and it will update when I open it. Afterwards it will sync every hour as normal. I think this is only happening when it's trying to come back from off-peak hours (which is set to never sync).
I've tried removing all accounts and deleting all app data but to no effect. My auto sync is on for everything including under settings > data usage. One thing I have noticed is that when you go to settings > email > [my account], the "last synced" time is different than if you go into the email app and see the "last synced" time.
I cant confirm but does not seem to be happening to my gmail account.
Anyone else having this issue?
Specs:
-T-889 on 7105 international rom by teshxx, dalvik/cache wiped.
-yahoo IMAP email
-no battery savers or anything that touches auto sync

Your probably saving battery
If your Gmail isn't syncing it probably isn't draining your battery, just saying.

I do not have any problems with my gmail app..

In case anyone still has issues with this, I've found the solution. For incoming settings for yahoo mail you must use samsung.imap.mail.yahoo.com, I was only using imap.mail.yahoo.com which caused my phone (for some reason) to not sync initially when entering peak hours.

gmail syncing

Something I noticed...I set my gmail to sync hourly but it does not do that at all. Both my hotmail accounts will sync hourly but whenever I go to my gmail app, the longest time before another sync was like 22 mins. I emailed myself something through gmail once and although my sync settings were still set at hourly, I got the email 10 minutes later. Idk what's going on with that. I just now put it on manually because I'm pretty sure its turning on my 3G more times than it should.

gmail app?
Anyhow, I have my gmail sync every 15min and think it's pretty accurate...
I actually have several gmail accounts and they sync at various times with my main personal account syncing every 15min... And it all seems fine...

He probably means the Gmail email app you get once you configure a Gmail account on your WP7.
slightly different problem with gmail sync
Hey everybody,
I'm wondering if anybody else is having the same problem as me at the moment ?
I've had the phone a few months now. I experienced a few issues with Hotmail and returned to using Gmail. It used to sync and push emails flawlessly, however it seems to have stopped working which is driving me mad.
When I wake up, i'm used to seeing new messages waiting for me (mainly XDA forum news). However, the push functionality has stopped working. I open my inbox, and see a message indicating email is up to date. However, no new messages are displayed. When pushing the sync button, the inbox is synced and the new messages are displayed, despite the settings set for "as items arrive". Highly annoying and not very productive to have to check for messages manually.
I played around with the settings trying various options, I even deleted the account and started over again (which was a pain re linking contacts etc, all to no avail.
Can anybody help me to restore my push email please ? I'm getting really cheesed off now.
Thanks
Garrickus.
Could it be possible that your phone had synced with G-mail 50 minutes before you sent yourself an email, and then you received it 10 minutes later, after the scheduled hour?
BUMP
go to email account settings and check if it is showing any errors. happened to me once. I re-entered my username passoword and the error went away. Perhaps this is due to Google getting very picky these days as many gmail accounts are getting hacked.
Why not just leave it in 'push' mode? Unless you have a lot of emails every hour, push email uses less data than polling. Gmail's exchange activesync isn't exactly rock solid. Back in WM 6.xx days, I have to reset my account every few weeks.

email using 30% of battery

using the stock email app
2 accounts (hotmail & gmail both using exchange activesync). not using gmail app because i like unified inbox.
both accounts sync interval set to push (not time based).
get about 2 emails an hours, about 40 a day.
this was fine for a few weeks, but now i am running out of change every few hours and battery usage says email is taking by far the most usage (29%). before it used to be the display but i turned down the brightness and it dropped down.
anyone seen this?
After flashing new firmware LT15i_3.0.1.A.0.145 Global same issue - even when i block all data traffic: the Email-App (com.android.mail) eats up my battery... up to 50% when i dont touch the Arc (no display on etc). Battery Monitor Widget says about 60mA when phone is idle. Before Firmware-Update i had about 10mA when i blocked all data traffic.
I tried Freeze Email-App with Titanium: everything ok, about 6-10 mA when idle....
I read in some other articles that this battery drain could be when Email-App tries to sync and something was went wrong at previous syncs, so clear data in App-Manager (Email, Calendar, Calendar Storage, Contacts, Contact Storage) - but this won´t help on my Arc. I also tried Factory Reset: no help. I tried re-flashing 145 Global Firmware (flashtool, with wipe): no help. I tried deleting my Accounts (Gmail via IMAP, Exchange): no help.
What´s going on here? Any ideas?
for the time being I have made hotmail activesync check every 1hr instead of push and battery drain is manageable.

[Q] Native ICS email Exchange suddenly wakelocking?

Anyone using Exchange on the native email client suddenly notice a huge battery drain/wakelock with Exchange server?
I haven't changed my email setup in weeks and I've never had this problem before. My phone is a little over 5 hours off charger and at 19%! Exchange services is at 19% with a 1h 13m wakelock on BBS.
I have Gmail and Hotmail (yeah, yeah) accounts both set up as push. Only the Gmail syncs contacts and calendar (I've double-checked everything). I probably get ~20 emails/day or so.
Until today, I would get >24 hours with light usage, and a full day with heavier usage. This literally started today out of the blue.
I searched all of XDA and the GN forums specifically and didn't see anything that addressed this particular issue. Any suggestions?
TIA
Anyone?
The actual service is com.android.exchange.Exchange Services
somehow the native email push keeps running and waking up the phone..
so i just sent to never notify me.
and i manually click the app to check every now and then to solve this problem and maintain my battery life

The weird thing is that it just started doing this, even though I haven't changed any settings in weeks. And not having push email would suck...
This has happened to me from time to time on CM and AOSP ROMs, but not on my GN yet. It's a Google problem IIRC and something that they "fixed" in the past, but they obviously haven't.
I'd observe this 1/10 nightly ROM flashes so I'd keep an eye on it for the first couple of hours afterwards and kill it if it was starting to go rogue.
It's a known, flagged, issue (on Google) but I don't have the link handy.
i noticed similar Exchange Mail behavior on my phone with any ROM that i flashed. i narrowed the constant-sync to my calendar. when i disabled calendar sync, the battery drain stopped. my research suggested the problem was related to a corrupt calendar or recurring calendar entries. so i archived all my Exchange calendar entries (which removed them from my calendar) removed then re-added the Exchange account to my phone and finally restored the calendar entries i needed. so far, no issues and i've flashed 3 ROMs and the problem has not returned. somewhat extreme, but it worked!
I have no issues with stock Exchange and Gmail apps on rooted 4.0.4.
You could try deleting and recreating the email accounts to see if that helps.
Also got the issue this night. 25% gone after 4 hours sleep, wakelock because of the Exchange service ... Disabled google sync, then reenabled it 2 hours later, and no problem ... It gets stuck somehow sometimes ...
I had the same problem on my SGS2 on ICS. I finally had no choice but to migrate my email to Google Apps. In the end it was the best decision since the Archive function on the GMail app is amazing and it simply works 10x better than any Exchange ActiveSync client.
The Google Apps connector for Outlook also works almost as well as Exchange Server.

[Q] Email Does not sync Automatically

hello everyone
I got the ONE X last night, and I am having a problem in automatically receiving my Emails.
I have set An Exchange Email, Gmail, and Yahoo mail using the device's mail app.
the "Auto-Sync" is Deactivated to save battery and avoid syncing other accounts.
in the mail settings of the Exchange Account, I set the "Peak time Sync" to (Push mail) which means (I guess!!) I would get the Email as soon as it reaches the account.
in the Gmail and Ymail, the Least time available on the "Peak time sync" is 5 minutes.
in either case, I am unable to receive the Emails unless I start the app and manually refresh!!!
the Email reaches Ymail or Gmail on the Laptop, I wait for more than 20 minutes with no notification on the device!
I didn't have this problem when I had the Galaxy SII, and sometimes the Exchange Email reached the device before the Laptop!!
this is very annoying and any suggestion is welcome!
I do not wanna go for the Ymail app from the Market or any other Exchange support app!
NOTE: the Gmail application in the Device behaves the same way,, does not sync until I manually refresh from the app itself
If you want to receive pushed data, auto-sync must be on.

When I had the SGSII I never turned the Auto-Sync On, and I used to get the Emails all the time very quickly!
Both are Android I do now know what is the problem!
Does any one have an idea about this issue??

as pa64 said, the emails will not sync with auto-sync disabled
turn it on and turn off auto sync manually for each app you don't want it to sync

I will give it a try. But doesn't this affect the battery life? Which is already not good?

possibly. but you can either turn it on and have push email or leave it off and have to manually check.
afaik auto-sync is a system wide switch for all updating. if you manually turn it off for everything other than mail only mail will be polling for updates. and there was some stuff a couple of years ago (with the iphone) that seemed to conclude that push is actually pretty battery efficient.

[Q] Email Sync Issue

I am having a weird issue with email syncing. I have several email and exchange accounts set up with syncing scheduled for every 5 minutes (and push for the exchange accounts) with peak times disabled so that it is supposed to sync every 5 minutes 24/7. I have this exact same setup on my galaxy s3 without issue.
The problem is that 8AM and 5PM everyday syncing stops and will not continue automatic syncing unless I manually sync one time. For example, email was syncing every 5 minutes as schedule before 8AM. Now once it turns 8AM, it does not sync automatically anymore. Around 9AM, I check, and the last sync is anywhere between 7:55AM and 8:04AM. Now once I manually sync once after 8AM, the phone syncs every 5 minutes until 5PM. The same problem occurs again and the phone does not automatically sync until I do one manual sync.
I am on my home wifi network at both times (8AM and 5PM), but it occurs regardless of wifi or mobile data, and I have ensured that master sync is enabled, and under the data usage settings, auto-sync data is enabled, and restrict background data is unchecked.
I have tried restarting the phone. I also cleared all email data and cache from the application menu and deleting the cache from recovery. I then renetered all my email accounts, and the same issue occurred on the dot at 8AM.
My phone is rooted with CWM recovery, but this issue occurred before I even rooted my phone. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
No one else has this issue? I find that hard to believe. I installed the Wicked ROM, and the same exact issue is occurring as in the original stock rom.
Did you try to enable peak times and under peak settings set to every 5 minutes? I don't know as I have mine manual to save battery, couldn't imagine how quick my Battery would die pushing e mail every 5 minutes

Yeah I did try enabling peak times every 5 mins but it didnt work. Battery life isnt too bad, I work nights now and it lasts the entire 12 hour shift with moderate use.
I have isolated the issue. It seems like having multiple exchange accounts causes this issue. All my exchange accounts are outlook (ie hotmail). So after I removed all of them except my primary, it is now syncing without issue. This is a serious bug that was introduced in the GS4, as my GS3 does not have this problem.
I am curious is anybody with multiple exchange accounts having or not having this issue?
