i own an htc one x (international version ) (Tegra 3 ) ..and after reading some interesting articles about installing custom roms on the one x , i rooted it and put some rom , it was working perfectly , but i was not satisfied with the rom , so i downloaded a new rom and put it on the phone and installed the rom (some nexus rom) ... i booted the phone and it was stuck on the nexus logo and nothing else would happen , so i read some articles on the internet , one of them told me to reset the phone to factory setting , after doing that i've lost CWM Recovery , now all i can do is, get to Hboot or something like that , aND all i can see here is fastboot and recovery , I've tried everything , but it just wont work , i'm a noob , please help me fix my phone up ! , i gave it to the htc repair centre they told me that they had to change the motherboard and that would cost as much as half the price of the phone , so i told dont want .... now is there anyway i can fix it by myself or fix it somewhere else for cheaper ??? please suggest a way i can do it on my own
When your phone does not boot anymore, but you still have access to HBOOT, you put the phone in HBOOT and connect it to your Desktop/Laptop and run the RUU so it fresh installs your phone. Let's say the USB connection does not work (Had this issue in the past with my HTC DesireHD)... What now?? Just like the old days, flash rom through SD-Card.
You need
USB Y-Cable
Cardreader
SD-Card
HTC One X (Fastboot disabled and powered off)
Latest ROM RUU.
*This only works with current stock ROM or newer version. Downgrading will fail till we have SuperCID. More about that in here!
1. Run the RUU and get the rom.zip from it. (Find it in here "c:\users\%usrename%\appdata\temp\"
2. Copy rom.zip to the SD-Card and rename it to PJ46IMG.zip
3. Put the SD-Card in the card reader.
4. Put the card reader onto the USB Y-Cable.
5. Plugin the USB Y-Cable to your One X.
6. Hold volume down and press the power button while keeping the volume down pressed. This will get you into HBOOT.
7. Wait a couple of seconds and you'll see that it finds PJ46IMG.zip
8. Follow the instructions on your screen =)
I've tried it with a USB OTG Cable and it worked. Some card readers do ask for more power, than you need a USB Y-Cable.
Questions etc. please here and not in PM!

can you link me the ruu
can you link me the RUU because i cant find the right one , and can you link me the USB Y-Cable or can you tell me the way to do it via a USB OTG cable ?
First of all do NOT post in 2 sections the same QUESTION !!! THIS IS THE GENERAL
And its all wrong info.....you dont need a card reader or anything. Just a laptop and a original charger cable.
Hook the phone on the pc and put it in the fastboot usb mode (bootloader)
Open a commandprompt inside the fastboot folder on the pc and type
Fastboot getvar version-main
With that number we can get a ruu

ok ! but after getting the ruu how do i push the files onto my phone ???
Or simply download any rom of your choice that you'd like to use , i'd suggest SENSE based rom till you get used onto flashing.
After that flash recovery of your choice , i'm suggesting you CWM 5.8.4.0 ( fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ) and then fastboot erase cache , then take the BOOT.IMG from the SENSE rom you would like to flash ( it's usually placed in the zip of the rom ) then copy the boot.img into your fastboot folder and type *fastboot erase cache* > *fastboot flash boot boot.img * > *fastboot erase cache*
After that get into recovery from Hboot , after you get into recovery hit *mount and storage > mount USB storage * then you'll see your storage on the PC ( don't forget to plug the phone onto pc lol ) then copy the rom you want to flash onto sdcard (make sure you use the rom from what you used boot.img previously ) , after that UNMOUNT the storage from recovery , then do these steps
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
get into >mount and storage
format system
format data
Format cache
hit back and go to *advanced*
Wipe dalvic cache
head back and hit *install zip from sd card* > chose zip from sd card > go to the folder where you put the ROM and click on it
After that you'll get AROMA installer and FOLLOW the instructions onscreen. after the flashing is done REBOOT === Enjoy the rom.
IF later on you would want to flash another rom(s) just follow the same instructions just skip flashing recovery again. Hope it helps =)

Why not , those steps are the steps for flashing custom Roms... And according to him his problem is that he flashed *nexus* rom , which is most likely *aosp/aokp* rom and my instructions are for him to flash back onto sense rom till he get used onto flashing and learn few things along the way before he hits on aosp/aokp roms.

Lol you're right, i just assumed he has JB hboot cuz by now everyone should have it, anyway he can do these steps even with ICS roms.
Too bad ppl don't read enough before starting to flash things on their phone like this guy here.
Before i started flashing things on HoX first i've read ALOT of things about flashing and possible issues for around a week. And trust me i've READ alot of pages in the meantime lol. Anyway maybe the Ruu solution would be the best for him if he wants to be on stock again but sooner or later he'll come back with *bootloop issue* or something similar when he starts using custom roms again, that why i wrote him these steps.

yes but the problem is not everyone has a y-cable or something else and that takes much longer then other steps...he wrote he can get it booting...i think he just forget to flash boot.img which is the fault of MANY people out there because they don't read enough ...aosp/aokp/cm10 are like sense roms...just putting on sdcard flash boot.img in fastboot and erase also there the cache then flash the rom in custom recovery and that it is...nothing more or less...
That was not posted by shan, it was that other guy. Just get the main version from the OP and and get him a ruu ! If you are flashing nexus roms on a HTC one x you don't expect too much knowledge on this from the OP.
But i reported this thread due to double posting and confusing guidance. Hope you guys agree on that with me

Hi,I'm no pro so I'll try and help.
I think you need to install a cwm recovery.if you can find a way to place files onto your sdcard then find a pc49img version of cwm and place this on sdcard then using your phone with sdcard inserted you press power on and vol down then let your system find pc49img and install. Goto to wildfire, development, sticky, and search in 3xenos thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318 to find cwm and everything else you need.
Hope this helps,if not then someone else will be more helpful and explain better procedures.

I don't think the PC49IMG method is working after unlocking with the HTC tool, flashing a recovery with fastboot seems to work though.

Use Fastboot
- Download this attachment and extract it to any folder (eg: C:\fastboot)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=630611&d=1308537074
- Download CWM IMG Image for Wildfire (Buzz) from here:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-buzz.img
- Place that IMG file along with the 4 files from the attachment in the same folder you created
- Now, turn off your Wildfire, connect to PC, and turn on in HBoot
- Navigate to Fastboot and Select it
- Open a Command Prompt Window (Start > Run > cmd)
- Type the following one by one and press Enter (It is assumed you created the folder in C Drive and have named it fastboot)
- cd\
- cd fastboot
- fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-buzz.img
- This should produce 2 lines of code - SENDING RECOVERY and WRITING RECOVERY. If both states OK at the end, you should have CWM installed successfully after this.

Cheers scratch.
1 thing though, fastboot for a noob might be complicated, lol damn I'm no way experienced but I wouldn't consider myself a noob either and I still can't get my head round fastboot/adb.
I know for certain that using terminal method works but can't remember the process or command.!!!
Eeeeek lol I think I'm a semi noob.

U just download "PC49IMG" and save the file just in sdcard (not in anyfolder)... and then now restart it by pressing power + vol down, while sd checking it asks for the recovery installation, just give YES, then now delete that PC49IMG file in the sdcard (by putting it in card reader or something else..) and again restart it by power + vol down, now u go to recovery, now u will have further options. u can proceed now to flash rom or something......
Enjoy..........

Now that's just a stupid thing to say to someone who clearly doesn't understand fully what they're doing! From your comment what's to stop this Guy Googling a PC49IMG.zip and getting something completely different to what he actually needs??
Then he'll be even more confused.
If you know of a PC49IMG.zip that will work after unlocking the bootloader the HTC way then please share it with us.

anyway to go back to stock froyo ?
find the recovery image you want then follow this exactly. this is how i did it.
I. Flash a New Recovery Image
1. Find the recovery image you want and MAKE SURE IT IS FOR YOUR PHONE (should say in where you download it what phone it is for).
2. Write down the filename of the recovery image EXACTLY as it is written EG (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7.111102-j_r0dd_mod-buzz.img).
3. Put the recovery image file on the SD card (not in any folders).
4. Download Terminal from the Market if you don’t already have it and install it (there are a few different terminals in the Market some have an onscreen keyboard and some don’t experiment till you get one, also hold down Menu in some of them to bring up the onscreen keyboard if you don’t see it).
5. Open the Terminal program and type the following (with hitting enter at the end of each line):
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/name-of-recovery.img
6. In the above text, replace name-of-recovery.img with the name of your recovery image (make sure the .img is on the end).EG recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7.111102-j_r0dd_mod-buzz.img
7. Phone should pause for a second and then show you a new blank line. Turn it off and back on by holding down Home and Power to ensure it flashed correctly. Done.
Thanks for the detailed information but i can't follow those instructions as my phone can't boot.
i somehow managed to flash recovery but it is taking a while to backup current ROM.
How much time does it take to backup a ROM ?
Is it necessary to backup OR can i directly flash CM7 ?
Your current rom doesn't work so don't backup, just flash a new one.

damn whenever i try to backup OR wipe data/cache it stuck at Hat

Hi,
I tried to install Leedroid originally and got stuck in a bootloop, i downloaded one of the insertcoin roms and now I'm stuck on the HTC Boot image, it's not even a loop. I can access my bootloader, but when I tried to get into Clockwork it doesn't allow me, it just reboots straight to the HTC Image. Any ideas how I can get out of this? I'm using Mac OS X but do have access to a windows laptop if needed.
Thanks
PS new here so sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section.

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
I might not have access til windows pc tomorrow, so here's a quick question.
Would it be possible to wipe all the data on the phone just now currently via android sdk and terminal/cmd and then install CWM via sdk?
Reason I ask is, when I go to boot into recovery, CWM flashes up briefly, as if it's going to open, then my phone just reboots into the HTC Boot screen.
fastboot erase cache
So I just rooted my phone and tried to install new room cyanogenmod 10 in recovery mode .. after the installation was complete, a simple reboot and after about 10s I could see word cyanogenmod on the screen .. I though it would boot up after a couple of minutes but after 15 mins, still no response .. so i went back into recovery mode and did a factory reset, delete cache and restored the original ROM .. Once again a reboot and it left me with the same booting screen written "cyanogenmod" and nothing else .. I did it once more but no use .. It always gets stuck on the same freaking screen .. Really need help guys ..
whats your hboot ? Did you wipe cache after flashing the boot.img ?
If your hboot is on 1.3x you need a modified hboot for CM10
http://db.tt/uDdWaAtH
And if you want to restore a nandroid you also have to flash the boot.img that is located in the nandroid backup folder
yes did went into the nandroid backup folder and restored it from there .. i had other CleanROM 5.1 zip in the phone memory ..i did a complete reset n tried to install CleanROM 5.1 .. thought may b that could get me out of the loop .. bt didnt help .. doest matter i do nandroid back r unzip clean rom or even cyanogen 10 .. it gets caught up in the same loop hole .. and what is hboot .. ?
You have to flash the boot.img file with fastboot commands from the pc to the phone in the bootloader menu, did you did it like that or did you try to flash it with the recovery ?
no i did it just in the recovery mode .. not from my pc .. do i have to do it from pc .. ? if yes then how.. ?
Do you have fastboot files on the pc ?

Go back into recovery and do a full wipe and install the rom. Then reboot and leave it for about 5 minutes
The way to flash a rom is :
Copy the rom.zip to the phones sdcard, open the rom.zip and copy the boot.img file into the fastboot folder on the pc, keep the phone in fastboot usb mode and flash the boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then you enter the custom recovery and do a full wipe, after that you flash the rom from inside the recovery
how can i copy the files to one x memory .. it doesnt boot up i.e the pc doesnt show a removable device with storage .. and did the steps u told me to follow n did a factory reset after that .. bt i cant restore bcz the nandroid backup from my cell is removed now .. however i do have it on my pc ..can i install it from there .. ?

You can mount the one x as an sdcard inside the recovery, mounts & storage and then the last option at the bottom. Mount as usb disk
Then you can copy the nandroid backup back to the phone and the boot.img to the fastboot folder on the pc. Flash the boot.img, full wipe and restore the nandroid !
Ps what recovery do you have ( also the version number)

clockworkmod recovery v5.8.1.8
Hi,
First of, I'm sorry if I overlooked a similar thread on XDA, but I'm really in a state of panic.
I bricked my HTC One X today, while I was trying to upgrade to CM 10.1. Please note I am a total noob here, so please don't rage at my stupid mistakes. I'll try to summarize what I did before my phone stopped working.
1. I rooted my phone via this method http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
2. I tried installing cm 10.1 via this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696&highlight=boot
3. Since I didnt get step 7 in that guide (about flashing boot), and because a bit further he says "boot.img included in the installer zip.", I thought I'd just skip it (I know, really stupid)
4. Obviously it didn't work, restored to where I was before step 2 (tested if I could start my phone, it worked), extracted the boot.img in the pack, and used a command prompt via pc to flash it. It said this
C:\Users\Lukas\Downloads\OneXRoot>fastboot flash boot boot.img
sending 'boot' (4958 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.681s]
writing 'boot'...
(bootloader) Format partition LNX done
OKAY [ 0.507s]
finished. total time: 1.188s
I just put the boot.img in the OneXRoot folder, so I didn't have to rewrite the command.
5. Again, it didn't work. Restored again to same point as before, but now my phone gets stuck on the HTC screen.
I'd like to add that at this moment I haven't found out how to get in the internal storage of my phone, so I can't even download the stock rom, and work from there.
Again, I'm a big noob, this is about the max of my rooting/flashing-skills, so guide me as slowly as possible.
Please help!
Lukas
Oke.....
Go into the recovery and mount the sdcard as a mass storage device. Then you have acces to the sdcard.
What would you like to do in the first place now ? Het CM10.1 or stock ?
If you did a nandroid backup of the stock rom you do this
Mount the sdcard in the recovery
Copy the boot.img from the nandroid backup and flash it in the bootloader with the toolkit or manual commands
Then enter the recovery and perform a full wipe, then you restore the nandroid backup
Okè. You can access internal storage within recovery. Select mounts and storage > plug in usb cable > mount usb storage.
For booting the ROM, there's one thing you missed. Due to DMCA takedown the vendor blobs are missing from builds and that's why they don't boot.
You need to take a look at the cyanogenmod thread in original development and in the first post you can find a link for the vendor installer zip that you need.
Just flash it in recovery after flashing the rom.zip.

Your CWM is outdated. DL this: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
Rename it recovery.img and flash like this: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

It flashed the recovery like you said, and it gives me a new menu (Unmount or Go Back) but it still doesnt work properly. I restarted both my pc and my phone to make sure..
Can you help me any further?
You tap mount as mass storage device once ....then it should pop up in windows
Otherwise you can try this recovery
http://db.tt/iXT4t3NH
RE
Doesn't find it with that one either... Starting to think I messed this one up reaaaalll bad.
Maybe something with my pc settings?
Strange ..... sure you connected the usb cable ......try another port
One of these 2 recoverys must work ...... don't see why not
I wish I were that stupid But no, tried all my ports, doesn't connect. It does make the sound however, so I know it's not that.. In the mean time, I got a single step closer. I downloaded the most recent boot img, and flashed it.
It still doesn't start, but now it doesn't stop at the HTC screen, but the HTC One X screen.. Progress, I guess
Edit: Tried my roommates pc, it catches!!! I'll keep you posted on my progress, but for now, thank you so very much!
Try to push the file you need with adb.
adb push (pathofsourcefile) /sdcard/
For example
adb push C:\files\derp.zip /sdcard/

Hmm you got a nandroid backup on the sdcard right ? You made that one with cwm ? Flash back cwm 5.8.4.0 now.....what nandroid was it ? stock jb rom ? Give me that info and i will provide a new stock boot.img file ! You can flash that one and restore the nandroid backup....but i need the info asap
FIXED
Guys, thank you so very much!
It is now fixed, although I still don't have cm10.1, I can at least use my phone again. For the people who want to know what I did:
1. Apparently, my pc can't identify the 'mount usb' from CWM, so I had to go to another pc.
2. I searched and found the boot.img that I used in my backup
3. Flashed that img.
And now it's fixed!
Again, thanks very much, it seems these things can make grown men cry...
So it was the pc ! .....

If you want cm10.1 you need the rom.zip, gapps.zip and the vendors file too
Make a full wipe in the recovery and install the rom, gapps, vendors ...don't reboot
Reboot to the bootloader
Adb reboot bootloader
And flash the boot.img from cm10.1
RE
Allright, I will do that, have the files on my phone now. But not until tomorow, I really have to rest from this 4 hour panic-attack
Fair ! And charge the phone to 100% before you start .... may save you from trouble if it doesn't work for some reason. Then you always have plenty battery to restore a nand
Thanks to Nakum for the assistance. (Nakum can be found at drnakum on Yuforums or at dr.nakum on XDA) and to Mr.Anish for telling us that the latest TWRP recovery works.
Ok guys, so Nakum succesfully managed to root the device and I was able to do so as well. The Procedure is similar to Yureka, except you use the latest TWRP version and the latest chainfire SU binary 2.46.
This method can be done using a Hot boot or by flashing. If you want to retain the original recovery, do it by hotboot. If you want a vustom recovery, then flash it.
Here is a noob friendly guide.
1) Enable Developer Option (Go to Settings-> About Phone -> Tap on Build number 7 times)
2) Go to Developer Option and disable Update Recovery
3) Enable Android Debugging
4) Install the 15-Second ADB driver file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979)
5) Download adb+fastboot zip (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934556622)
6) Download Su binaries (https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU)
7) Copy UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip to an SD card
8) Download TWRP (https://s.basketbuild.com/uploads/devs/vishal_android_freak/yu/yureka/TWRP_V2.8.7.0_YUREKA.img)
8) Connect Phone to PC and navigate to the folder where you have abd+fastboot
9) Shift+right click -> Open command prompt
Type : adb devices
If your device is connected you will get it in connected devices
Type : adb reboot-bootloader
Your phone will restart into bootloader.
Type : fastboot -i 0x1ebf oem device-info
If your bootloader is unlocked, it will say "True", else it will say "false". If it is False, then do the next step
Type : fastboot -i 0x1ebf oem unlock
WARNING : All your userdata will be GONE! Now you can root your phone in two ways
Method 1 : If you want to retain the Original Recovery - Hot boot
Type : fastboot -i 0x1ebf boot TWRP_V2.8.7.0_YUREKA.img
This will launch TWRP on your device. Navigate to where you saved the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip file. Flash it, wipe Cache, Reboot and you are rooted!
Method 2: If you want to flash Custom Recovery - Flash
Type : fastboot -i 0x1ebf flash recovery TWRP_V2.8.7.0_YUREKA.img
Your Cyanogen recovery will be replaced with TWRP. Then, unplug your device, hold volume up+down+power to boot into recovery, navigate to where you saved the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip file. Flash it, wipe Cache, Reboot and you are rooted!
Hit thanks/like if this helped
Hope this helps! If you guys need any clarification, feel free to ping me!! Have fun!
EDIT : For those stuck in a bootloop! After flashing TWRP, go to Wipe and hit Format Data...then reboot to recovery (everything will be mounted by now) and flash the chainfire SU binaries. Reboot and everything should work fine. The phone may be stuck in the "Cyanogen" screen for a goot 5-10 mins before the apps start loading...so stay patient.

can anyone can pull the original cwm recovery from the yureka plus n upload ?
Wow wow champ...chill. Tell is what you did exactly and I will tell you how to recover your phone.
Btw this is for the others....just to show that rooting works.
This method works. But I got some bug with the TWRP installation in one of the phones. It wasn't able to reboot the phone or switch it off via recovery. So I think I'll probably try reinstalling the recovery. On the second device, this method worked flawlessly. A third one will be arriving later, by next week. I'll probably try installing CWM next time. If possible, make a video, or give more info in the steps to help people figure out if they performed the steps correctly or not, because the phone has been recently launched, and there's not a lot of information about it on the internet. Anyways, many thanks for the guide! CHEERS!
---------- Post added at 06:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:12 AM ----------
Also, If you could add some information on how to reset the phone to its stock settings, and stock recovery, that would be great. I wasn't able to fix the TWRP problem by reinstalling it. So I would like to go through all the steps from the start again.
And I managed to soft brick my device, when I tried CWM on it. Is there a way I can enter download mode manually I mean by button combinations?
---------- Post added at 07:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:40 AM ----------
I fixed it, but the recovery is still not working like it should. It did work on the other device though. I don't know what the issue is. Need to figure out a way to go back to stock recovery.

I'm skipping the adb part.
- First rebooted the phone In bootloader via adb
- Then unlocked the boot loader
(i noticed in bootloader device
Tampered was true even though i just got my device and box was sealed may be this could be the reason of brick?)
- Then flashed(not booted) twrp from above link.
- Then rebooted in to recovery
- Tried to take back up but it didnt work (mounting /data failed)
- Then used pen drive via otg to flash superuser ( it flashed but only on /system, /data was again failed to mount)
- Then restarted
- but after yu logo phone restart it self in to twrp then format /cache then restart again
Then this goes forever
Can u help to boot my phone again

Found the solution...!!!!!!!!!1
Hey guys.... I also tried rotting my Yureka plus and after following everything, I get stuck on the bootloop... after wasting 3 hours on net, I tried some steps myself and it fixed the issue.
Let me tell you the steps which I did:
Switched off my Yureka.. took the memory card out....
rebooted to TWRP recovery, I went to "wipe" > "format data"..
Data was successfully foramtted.
ALL DONE!!!!!!!!!
Now, you will be able to mount data and flash SuperSU without any issues...
It can take 4 to 5 minutes for the phone to start up (on the "Cyonogen" logo").
If you are experiencing issues, you can email me at asksree24by @ gmail.com
If you are stuck in a bootloop, just format data and everything will work. Let it load for a while. Dont worry...it stays in the cyanogen logo for a good 5-10 mins easily.
Thank you so much
Now its booting

Okay the same thing happened with me yesterday with my friend's yuphoria but i managed to get it to work after 2 hours of hit and trial methods, first of all you will need to install the stock recovery(debuggable) for the phone and then do a factory data reset and then flash the twrp recovery again and then wipe data, cache, dalvik and everything in the advanced wipe section. this will erase everything on the device, even the rom(at least in my case it said 'no OS installed'). Since there in no custom rom available for the device currently, you will have to download the stock rom (fastboot version) and have to flash everything using fastboot.
Good luck
