Have you tried hard reset?
Press power and vol up for 10-15 sec, you'll get three vibrations, then try to start your phone again.
What update , btw?
Are you on official rom 4.0.4 or custom?

Don't think it's a hard brick, probably just soft brick.
If hard reset doesn't help, conect xs to pc and wait for hour or two, then try to go in fastboot mod.

Well xs is very tough phone, so it's very unlikely it's hard bricked but....
Connect it to charger over night, don't touch it or try to start up, just leave it for 15-20 hours and I'm sure it'll work.
Sometimes when battery discharge the phone wont go to off-line charging mod so it can't boot.
Try this and and let me know tommorow, just be patient and it'll start, you'll see.
Hang on buddy...

Do nor disassemble nothing, you couldn't loose warranty.
But if you root your device, you must unroot it before gi to service.
But it's not possible now so I think you will have to pay service...
But I suggests better pay service, if you take your battery out and that doesn't help, you have to go to service and they will charge you more.
Maybe they will flash firmware and maybe, just maybe don't realise it was rooted.

Leave it on charger. Of course, first check do you have working charger.
As you pull your battery out, that's like hard reset. If it boot, even for a second it's ok, it'll work.
Try connect it to pc, hold vol up key then plug the other end in pc, if nothing happened, charge it again.
Leave it on charger until it boot by it self.
If it takes 48h, then leave it, it'll work.

Prepare file for flashing, try to download offical ICS, prepare fastboot tool and wait, when your phone wakeup connect it like I said before, flash off ICS, you'll now have offline charging so connect it to charger and that should be it.

Just try everything first, I doubt thaet cpu or motherboard issue, it's probably soft brick but it's hard to tell.
Sometimes, especially when update fails, phone wont charge, it can't go to offline charging and you have to charge it for a very long time.
You aren't the first one, just go to forums and you'll see, in 90% it's soft brick.
Prepare those files I mentioned and try couple of times to boot in fastboot mode.
Only, recheck what como of keys is for that, vol down+power or volume up+power, I think I didn't said right the first time, think it's up for flash mode and down for fastboot mode.
Just google that...
Good luck mate...

Follow this link to unlocking bootloader, if you have phone with possibility to unlock, then we'll proceed.
( you will flash kernel with cwm recovery, that you will be able to flash custom rom)

Use flashtool to restore to default firmware. Then re try
IMO it is not bricked, BUT you need to reflash the kernel or flash a different kernel. not sure if this applies to the R800 but do you have a charge only cable?

Did you download the proper ftf file for your phone and place it in the "firmware" folder?
This happened to me. Get flash tool and do not connect t until it prompts you. So select the file you wanna flash and such and at the end then connect your phone itll work. Just take your battery out each time you fail to make sure your phone is off. Believe me I was worried to but for some reason that trick worked.

I know you mentioned Alejandrissimo, so I just want to ask, how long did it take for him to get your Google Talk invite? I contacted him by the website and it told me that it cost 24 USD and to add him on Google Talk, I sent him $24 through paypal, the transaction completed according to the site so I'm sure he got it, but I've been waiting on Google Talk for about 3 hours now. I'm sure he's probably busy right now though. Just curious.
Okay, but the computer doesn't recognize the PHONE!
When I connect the phone to the computer, the LED flashes red and the computer says there is something plugged, but not identified, preventing the flash boot.
Now i can connect the phone to the PC, but only lights up the green LED (charging, i guess), even if i hold the "back" or the "search" button while plugging the USB.
This LED is the only proof of, at least, it is receiving energy.

It is not working for me. Could you guys give some more details of how you did it? I have tried already like 15 times and no luck. Also, is it happening to you guys that the phone will ONLY go into flashmode? I can flash anything into it but it will not boot, it will just stay in flashmode.
What I am doing is basically have the phone without battery and then start flashtool until it asks me to connect the phone. At that point I place the battery and connect the phone to the usb without pressing the BACK key, as it is not needed in my phone. Once the flashing is done, the phone goes into flashmode again.
Did this happen to you too?

Hello guys.
My Sony Xperia S got Hard bricked after i tried to partition my SDcard from TWRP recovery which unfortunately failed due to some reason.....
I had boot manager installed for dual boot and i had sony stock firmware 6.1.A.2.55 on the native and CM10 on loop ...
The partition was tried in TWRP for loop in Ext4 format
My Xperia S now does not respond to fastboot buttons as well as all other combinations ...
It doesnt light any LED not even while its connected to the charger..
The only thing that happens is when i connect it using USB cable without any combinations and the computer detects it as SEMC flash device..
Is there any method to flash using this mode?
I have tried every method on all the forums.(flashtool, fastboot, taking battery out ,power+vol up,everything )
Guys please i need serios help any experienced suggesions would be helpful ...
Please help :crying:
PS: i had never thought that trying to partition the SDcard would brick my phone..

How the duck did you take your battery out? It has an INBUILT one, why would you take apart the entire phone?
Then, after telling you how stupidly you did that;
can you go back into the recovery? (probably yes, but it's weird)
Did you ACTUALLY take apart the phone to take the battery out? (probably not)
Do you have an unlocked bootloader? (i think you do, but not sure...)
Do you still have warranty? (probably yes)
Try again, because if the orange LED showed up, it's probably not too late...
Now go and use FlashTool once more...

I'm starting to think that my case could be a corrupted bootloader, where I have to use JTag to try to save, but I don't know anyone who have a JTag, neither in my country.

Hi, I decided to post it here because it seems that anything I post on Xperia Ion forum is not read, it is inactive.
I already searched everywhere and I'm loosing my hopes. I'm trying to revive an Xperia Ion and this is what I get:
When I plug the phone in the wall charger the red led turns on for some minutes and then turns off.
The same happens when I plug on PC, when the led turns off it is detected as "Somc flash device" in windows device manager and this shows in flashtool:
INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
Nothing changes if I plug in pc with volume + or - pressed, it don't goes into fastboot or flashmode.
I hope you could help me. Thanks

my pc wont recognize the phone.. i think i need to charge it for far longer time to have it the first cycle as the guide for recovering a bricked xperia device.. thanks for your reply sir..
2 hours is enough. At some point it will try to boot. Then put it in flashmode and flash with Flashtool the ROM. Do not try to power it on. Wait,it will try to boot by himself.
Don't charge him from pc. Use wall socket.

so, as the title says, my zl was fine on friday...then when i woke up on saturday it was totally discharged...so i went and tried to charge...to my surprise all seemed normal until the screen, instead of showing the little battery icon in the middle of it, just rebooted...The phone kept doing that for a lot of time and i was losing my mid...until out of nowhere, in started normally (it had done that previously) BUT THIS TIME, the pc recognized it, and the phone showed that it was CONNECTED to something (the previous times, it didn't...it said 1% AND NOTHING about "connected" or "charging") of course i took that chance and it charged successfully up to 100%. Everything was fine, i could even use it today....BUT then again, the battery showed 5% left...i was about to charge it...and out of nowhere it went to 0% and shut itself down...and then the same started to happen....red led on the bottom...sony showing...screen stays grey....restart. I managed to get into the normal screen...but no to make it "connect". I can't flash, because if i try to flash anything the pc doesn't recognize the flashmode, and can't mount usb storage.
Anything i could do? ( i have 3 different USB cables, and 2 chargers...so i'm pretty sure it's a bug with the battery)
I'm on Stock ROM from Existenz .423.
Thanks in advance :'( i'm desperate

Can you explain in structure paragraph? I got confuse reading your essay. So if i understand correctly you can not enter flashmode, so you can not flash anything?
Do you use flashtool? When you open flashtool while connecting your device, do flashtool recognise it?

exactly, i can't flash because flashtool doesn't recognise the device...the phone shows a red led signal, instead of a green one.
Right now, i have the phone in normal state, connected to the pc, and it says "connect to the charger"...so i don't know what's wrong.

Try remove all drivers related with your device and reinstall.
You can try run the SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) first too if you want.

Never let your battery go below 6%.
Below that, it turns off to safe the battery. ( if the battery ever reaches true zero charge it will be irreversibly damaged ).

I'm pretty sure your battery has never reached 0% yet as android doesn't let that happen. You would have to leave the battery off for about a year to get that. What you mean is you let your phone shut down when the battery ran low. Even if it shows you 0% it Still has about 6% left that you can't use to safe the battery. If it's truly empty it is truly dead and can never be charged again.
But still, it is also not healthy to let your battery run down till the phone switches off. http://gizmodo.com/how-to-take-care-of-your-smartphone-battery-the-right-w-513217256

Those are well written tips with easily understandable explanations.

hey, did you ever have the same problem i'm having? if so...PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU DID TO FIX IT, i've been triying for almost 3 days in a row for something to happen and it just doesn't .
Thanks in advance.
PS: I can get into "a normal phone screen", the phone shows 1% battery left, but it just doesn't recognise the charger, which is weird, because when it turns off, the only way to boot it up is to connect the device...so it's like my phone has amnesia when it's in normal mode.
well, if anyone cares i managed to successfully flash the latest firmware on the phone, however the bootloops and charger not connected message still happens...I SERIOUSLY WANT TO SUICIDE RIGHT NOW, i loved my phone and now it's nothing more than a bootloop machine. IF ANYONE KNOW WHAT COULD I DO TO REPAIR IT, PLEASE HELP

I have just one computer , but i doubt it's the micro usb, as it recognises the cable of the pc, and because of that it can turn the red led on, otherwise, when not connected it only shows a red led 3 times and then nothing. So, i can do things only if the cable is connected, that's why i don't get what's happening, because it can recognise the cable enough to turn the red light and boot and everything, but the moment i try to charge it on a normal screen...nothing happens
I just re-flashed only the kernel and problem is still here...i tried connecting cable (different cables) to pc/wall charger...and nothing.

So, what I understood is ur phone now can enter flashmode? So ur problem regarding flashmode already solved?
But the PC still don't recognise ur phone and ur phone cannot charge while phone is ON but can charge while it OFF. I assume ur bootloop problem also solved?
Am I correct?

Take out the battery, reinsert it and then connect it to ur PC. If it shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD, its dead.

Don't fret. Can you access bootloader?
---------- Post added at 09:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:03 PM ----------
Do a battery pull..leave out for half a min...put battery back in and hold power and volume down til device boots into boot loader. If it doesn't boot to boot loader, then its bricked. If you can access BL,its not bricked

Nope. Believe me when i say no. There is a program called QPST, made by Qualcomm which is able to detect the DHD in this state. But we dont have the necessary files for resurecting the phone.
Those files are only available to Qualcomm devs. I searched high and low for the files but got nothing. We started a thread for it somewhere in the Q&A Section.
To Shed some light on your problem, There are two things that can cause your device to end up in this state.
1. Either you have a corrupt bootloader, radio
2. Fried or burnt emmc chip or emmc controller.
My suggestions are you can send the phone out for JTAG repairs.(They would short circuit the motherboard and reflash your bootloader...that is if its a curropted bootloader or radio fault).
Or you could you could find another DHD with a cracked screen on ebay. SInce the screen is cracked, the price would be low.
All you would have to do is swap the DHD with the cracked screens motherboard with yours and voila!!
