try taking the battery out and replace the hold search and plug in usb cable but never touch the power button

tried that
if i too
k it to the local store i got it from would they give me a new one???

Use flashtool to restore to default firmware. Then re try

IMO it is not bricked, BUT you need to reflash the kernel or flash a different kernel. not sure if this applies to the R800 but do you have a charge only cable?

Did you download the proper ftf file for your phone and place it in the "firmware" folder?

This happened to me. Get flash tool and do not connect t until it prompts you. So select the file you wanna flash and such and at the end then connect your phone itll work. Just take your battery out each time you fail to make sure your phone is off. Believe me I was worried to but for some reason that trick worked.

I know you mentioned Alejandrissimo, so I just want to ask, how long did it take for him to get your Google Talk invite? I contacted him by the website and it told me that it cost 24 USD and to add him on Google Talk, I sent him $24 through paypal, the transaction completed according to the site so I'm sure he got it, but I've been waiting on Google Talk for about 3 hours now. I'm sure he's probably busy right now though. Just curious.

Okay, but the computer doesn't recognize the PHONE!
When I connect the phone to the computer, the LED flashes red and the computer says there is something plugged, but not identified, preventing the flash boot.

Now i can connect the phone to the PC, but only lights up the green LED (charging, i guess), even if i hold the "back" or the "search" button while plugging the USB.
This LED is the only proof of, at least, it is receiving energy.

FINALLY. Your advice worked. I did the same thing the OP did, flashed a kernal from cm9. I couldn't even get the charger to recognize or do anything. After taking battery out and starting flashtool process first, It took 4 times with flashtool. Thanks again.

It is not working for me. Could you guys give some more details of how you did it? I have tried already like 15 times and no luck. Also, is it happening to you guys that the phone will ONLY go into flashmode? I can flash anything into it but it will not boot, it will just stay in flashmode.
What I am doing is basically have the phone without battery and then start flashtool until it asks me to connect the phone. At that point I place the battery and connect the phone to the usb without pressing the BACK key, as it is not needed in my phone. Once the flashing is done, the phone goes into flashmode again.
Did this happen to you too?

Cesarramson,
Yep, sounds familiar. Is your phone unlocked? Is it r800x or another?

[Q] Can't hard reset Xperia PLAY and isn't detected by flash tool

I had LauncherPRO, I tried switching wallpapers and everything froze so I did a battery pull and now it gets stuck on the "ROGERS" boot up screen or goes to a blank and no keys work. If I slide out the gamepad while its blank, the screen will turn on and it'll be a black screen with the time and the slideout bar but the touch screen doesn't work for some reason. It also says I have no service.
Here's a list of what I've tried so far -
- Holding the left and right D-Pad keys while starting the phone
- Holding the back and search button while starting the phone
- Using Sony Ericsson Update Service but it won't even detect it
- PC Companion won't detect it either
I've had so many problems with this phone, I was hoping to exchange it for a different phone if possible. I got it from Rogers on May 30th, and I didn't really realize it had problems till this month. Thing is, I have installed APK's from 4shared that you'd normally have to pay for and since it seems to be bricked now, I don't know if it's safe to bring it in.. It's not rooted. I'm pretty sure most of my downloaded apps were on my SD card but I"m not 100% sure. The phone isn't functional at all if I manage to get it to that black homescreen.

Thanks for the reply. This won't void warranty, right?
Edit: Flashtool doesn't seem to recognize my Xperia PLAY when I boot it in flash mode. The green LED is lit, and it shows a battery logo when I start it up so I assume that means it's in flash mode, but flash tool wont recognize it. I've tried on a windows 7 and a windows vista computer

Yeah before I had read that it was different for Xperia PLAY, that you had to hold search. Since before I wasn't holding the "back" button long enough and I didn't think it was working. Anywho it's all fixed up now! This doesn't void warranty right?
Just wanted to add as i just spent hours figuring this out and its really stupid and simple but may help other people. When you connect the phone in flash mode. Connect it in FLASH mode. Do NOT hold the search key button as this is for FASTBOOT MODE. You need to hold the back button on the Xperia play to launch into flash mode instead.
Hope this helps someone =)
Apologies for the necro, but just in case anyone else is having this problem and comes here.... i spent an hour reinstalling drivers, holding different keys without flashtool detecting the phone in flash mode & searching through vaguely related results in google.
In the end nothing was wrong, I was plugged into usb 3.0 and whilst the drivers were installed and the device was showing up in device manager, flashtool simply wouldn't detect it. The moment it was connected to a usb 2.0 socket it immediately worked.
HELP!

My Xperia Play is not being recognised by the FlashTool (I've installed the Gorgon Drivers and it is detecting as ZEUS USBFlash...). It is not responding, I tried pressing the search button, the back button, but I got nothing. I am not getting any light neither. Do any of you have any idea about what I could be doing wrong?

It wont boot up .... Help!!!

Ok after my sony ericsson xperia play did the software upgrade while on the charger, it will not boot back up!!
Not sure what happend, but when you press the power button, it only vibrates once but will not boot back up!
It just shows a black screen!!!!
I have sent it in to the shop and we are stuck as to how to get it on.
You can not even get into the boot loader screen!
Its been a week, and i don't know what the hell to do!!!
Some one please help!!!!
Does the power button light up green when you hold down the search button while plugging into a computer? If so, use flashtool to flash back to the stock firmware
Yes it dose, the tech guy and me have tried to do so, however the computer sees the device but dose not know what it is, however even when the files are finished it sitll dose not boot up!

If it lights up green then you cant get into fastboot, it should light up blue, if im not mistaken!
Is your phone Rooted, with BL Unlocked, and do you have CWM Recovery? You said you can not get into Bootload screen? Did you mean Recovery? Try pushing volume down repeatedly while pressing the power button, continue hitting volume down till you see the recovery screen. If you can get into recovery just do a nandroid recovery/restore, provided you did a back up prior to your issue.
It dose not light up blue, but it dose not go into the recovery screen at all, in fact when you press the power button, gives a small vibrate and the screen is still black!
Also when you put it on the charger the LED light is green, really frustrated.
However, I am new at this, like I said only had the device for a day, and this happened after I did a software update, so I am not sure what a CWM means, kindly clarify, think of giving instructions not just to a newbie, but to some one that has no clue what is going on! LOL sorry man I really am new to all of this, I just want it to work, so kindly provide me with step by step instructions that you would give to a five year old child.
Hmm... that's interesting. A CWM is a custom recovery. Green light when plugged in means its charging. It sounds almost like your phones LCD is not receiving a signal anymore, if that's the case, seeing as you wouldn't see anything on the screen in order to even do a recovery, I don't see a lot of options here. If its brand new, then its under warranty, take it back and exchange it.

This has nothing to do with your LCD =|.
It's sony's stupid software bricking the xperia play for no valid reason ; happened to me as well.
Only fix is to download Sony Ericsson Update Service and keep on retrying the software update after it fails ; This is not the Sony Ericsson Pc Suite ; Also try removing the battery for 30 seconds after 6-8 retries on SEUS - happened to me a few times after the original occurence since i was trying to get back to complete stock.
Thanks for the input, I was lost on how to help out on this one! I thought it was only bricking the rooted unlocked phones.

Connect it to your PC with USB, Then go to support Zone in Pc Companion then select Phone software update and click Repair and follow the instructions, it worked for me when pc companion decided to brick me...
EDIT: Or you could always Flash 2.3.4, tut here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20151540 just follow the first two posts, I believe it will work if Flashmode is still working (The tut will tell you how to get into there)

Bricked :(

I had just successfully rooted my xperia play r800i and was installing CWM. After the installation was successful, I unplugged the phone as Flashtools said but it won't start. Now it's not even being detected by Flashtools. It is being detected by my laptop only with the beep sound and nothing else.
Also my battery was around 20% while I was flashing so maybe that had something to do with it.

I tried but its not giving the blue led

battery possesed

so, as the title says, my zl was fine on friday...then when i woke up on saturday it was totally discharged...so i went and tried to charge...to my surprise all seemed normal until the screen, instead of showing the little battery icon in the middle of it, just rebooted...The phone kept doing that for a lot of time and i was losing my mid...until out of nowhere, in started normally (it had done that previously) BUT THIS TIME, the pc recognized it, and the phone showed that it was CONNECTED to something (the previous times, it didn't...it said 1% AND NOTHING about "connected" or "charging") of course i took that chance and it charged successfully up to 100%. Everything was fine, i could even use it today....BUT then again, the battery showed 5% left...i was about to charge it...and out of nowhere it went to 0% and shut itself down...and then the same started to happen....red led on the bottom...sony showing...screen stays grey....restart. I managed to get into the normal screen...but no to make it "connect". I can't flash, because if i try to flash anything the pc doesn't recognize the flashmode, and can't mount usb storage.
Anything i could do? ( i have 3 different USB cables, and 2 chargers...so i'm pretty sure it's a bug with the battery)
I'm on Stock ROM from Existenz .423.
Thanks in advance :'( i'm desperate

Never let your battery go below 6%.
Below that, it turns off to safe the battery. ( if the battery ever reaches true zero charge it will be irreversibly damaged ).

I'm pretty sure your battery has never reached 0% yet as android doesn't let that happen. You would have to leave the battery off for about a year to get that. What you mean is you let your phone shut down when the battery ran low. Even if it shows you 0% it Still has about 6% left that you can't use to safe the battery. If it's truly empty it is truly dead and can never be charged again.
But still, it is also not healthy to let your battery run down till the phone switches off. http://gizmodo.com/how-to-take-care-of-your-smartphone-battery-the-right-w-513217256
Also, read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168036

I have just one computer , but i doubt it's the micro usb, as it recognises the cable of the pc, and because of that it can turn the red led on, otherwise, when not connected it only shows a red led 3 times and then nothing. So, i can do things only if the cable is connected, that's why i don't get what's happening, because it can recognise the cable enough to turn the red light and boot and everything, but the moment i try to charge it on a normal screen...nothing happens
I just re-flashed only the kernel and problem is still here...i tried connecting cable (different cables) to pc/wall charger...and nothing.

So, what I understood is ur phone now can enter flashmode? So ur problem regarding flashmode already solved?
But the PC still don't recognise ur phone and ur phone cannot charge while phone is ON but can charge while it OFF. I assume ur bootloop problem also solved?
Am I correct?

Sony Xperia Ion LT28at needs HELP!! PLEASE!!

OK....So here is my story and problem. About 2-3 months ago I was charging my phone and instead of charging it was losing the charge. I unplugged it from the charger and it would reboot itself. It showed low battery so I would connect it back to the charger and it would all of a sudden show full battery. After a while on the charger, I unplugged it, turned it off and then tried to turn back on but no response. I pressed power button with volume down button and nothing happened. So now I have been reading all kinds of threads of what I could possibly do and I have had no success. The phone was on the charger for about 2 days and the red light turned off. I finally downloaded Flash tool but it will not recognize my phone nor had it in the devices. I need help! I love my phone and can't send it for repair. If anyone can help, please let me know what I need to do. I also need help on drivers for Flash tool. Thank you!
If you can get your phone to boot
Let it fuly charge, then let it fully die untill it turns off then boot and fully charge
Your battey may have calibrated weird(xperias auto calibrate)
Also if that doesent work then try volume + power up, if your device is bricked this can take upto 45 mins untill it actualy forces off (3 buzzes in a row)
Try flashing then (and ensure the cable isnt plugged in when you do it)
Also ensure drivers are installed for your device (goolgle is your freind)

I have tried all of that stuff and I still don't get any response. The phone is currently on the charger. When I first plugged it in the red light was one and then started to blink and now is solid. I am unable to download ADB drivers cause my computer does not recognize my phone, not even thru pc companion.
You dont need your phone to install adb try googleing some (you may find installable Adb drivers for windows)
Well red LED? Anyway if it shows a red led when you plug in,
Try pluggin in while holding volume down, if you get a green Light that is good, search up a stock FTF for xperia ion and use flashtool to flash in flashmode (green led while plugged in after holding volume down (may be blue than thats bootloader mode try volume up)
If your ion still doesent boot then they may be a physical problem

Thank you for your help, i really appreciate you taking time to answer all my questions and helping me find things i could do for my phone. I tried holding the volume down button and plugging it into the wall charger and got no response. I also tried plugging into the computer with volume down button and still nothing. I will go and search for the drivers and stock ftf. Thank you
Same thing happened to my phone too while I was using a non stock charger. Things turned back to normal when I connected my phone back to my stock charger.

Okay I will try to help you here. I have had to do this a few times now and yes it sucks. When the light goes off you need to let it continue to charge. Eventually the device will start trying to boot the charging screen. Once it does this you need to hold the power and volume + just long enough for the screen to go off. It will look like it is bleeding out. As soon as it does this let go and do not let it buzz or you will have to start all over. Once you get the device to shut off you can try holding volume down while plugging the device into the computer and it should give you flash mode. Let it load drivers if it needs to and then try to set up your flash with flash tool.
Another option is to take the back off and disconnect the battery cable. Once you leave it off for a few seconds plug it back up and reassemble the device. It should now boot back up. At the least it will let you flash a ftf again.
Here is the link to all the stock ftf files. Checked the links and they are still good.

I'd recommend unplugging the battery if you have access to the tools to do it. I have the at&t model as well. Once you get the flash mode on I'd recommend flashing the international lt28h version excluding the baseband. You'll keep your LTE support and get rid of at&t bloatware, later you can mess with build.prop to get it to say LT28i or LT28at if you prefer.
Thank you everyone for the help in trying to revive my xperia. I think I am going to give up for now being that I am not able to download what I need and my phone just stays on the charger with no progress. Even with the red led light out and on the charger for days on end, there is nothing. Again, Thank you and God Bless
