Stock messaging app problem - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello everyone,
I'm having an odd problem. The stock touchwiz messaging app won't display notifications. Any third party app will, and but the stock won't. I have tried clearing the data for the stock app, but that hasn't helped.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks.

Factory reset should help.
Make a backup of all your apps and data with Titanium Backup and your contacts with Google.

You probably already checked this but make sure the notifications are checked the settings of the messaging app itself.

Yes I did check, but thank you.
The only thing I can think of is I installed and uninstalled an app called slide messages. It has an option tondisabke broadcasting by stock sms. I unchecked this before uninstall though.

Try clearing data and cache from the Gmail app itself

Do you have the app locker called "Seal" installed? If so, go into the app's settings and disable root functionality. There is a known problem with this app that causes emails to get stuck in the outbox.

Lost my messages app...

I seem to have deleted the stock messages app. Any way to recover this without factory reset? I can't seem to find the .apk for it.

How did that happen? You sure you deleted it and didn't just freeze/disable it?
You could download a stock ROM as a zip and get the mms.apk from there, push it to /system/app with adb or use something like Root Explorer to do it...
I may have disabled it, but I can't find it in the apps list to re-enable it. It's it gone?

If you have disabled it, scroll all the way down the app list.

This works.
Does anyone knows how I can replace the Stock Massage app with the CM10 Message app?

My messaging widget doesn't work.

It doesn't update? Any suggestions?
Works fine for me.
I'm using the port with the Multi-View, and Nova launcher FWIW.
Tried a full wipe, dalvik wipe, fix permissions, all the usual tricks?

No. I just got the phone today. All I did is root.

you could always try to clear the app cache & data
Settings > App Manager > Messaging
I was usung easy home screen layout. I changed it to basic, and so far it's working.

I know it's obvious, but make sure the app is set up to auto retrieve messages within settings.

Messaging issue

So I have a non-rooted sprint galaxy s3. My messaging app keeps popping up "unfortunately messaging has stopped" now I have researched the issue and I see people have the issue on some roms but haven't seen any for just stock.
I have tried a soft reset, hard reset, tried 3rd party apps and nothing works. Tried going to messaging app and clearing cache and data and nothing works. Only fix is a restart of phone. I am getting sick of restarting my phone to get my messages to work.
Please help!

Have you considered/tried a factory reset? It would require rooting, but what about uninstalling and re-installing the sms apk?
Alternatively, since you're still on stock you could take it into a sprint store.
I have already done a factory reset. No luck. I thought about rooting today, but my issue is if I do that I spend way too much time flashing roms and on xda

OK so I rooted, how would you suggest I uninstall and reinstall the messaging apk? I am on blazer rom and still getting this messaging issue.

How to disable System update notification?

I'm on stock 4.1.2 rooted and is like to get rid of the notifications.
I've already renamed the fwupdate.apk and the odex file, and deleted the update file from cache.
I've also renamed the otacerts.zip fixed permissions in twrp and rebooted.
I can't find any other methods. Any help would be fantastic. Thanks!

In notification pull down, long press on the update notification. There should be an option to disable the notification there

It allows me to go to the app info for Google Services Framework. Isn't that an important app?

So I made sure the update wasn't in my cache, and then selected to install the update. My phone didn't even reboot, it immediately went to a screen that said I was up to date.

Yeah but your not deleting the app just disabling any notifications in your status bar
