Recommendation for ROM Version please... - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
can someone tell my what is the best ROM for my Samsung galaxy note 2?
I prefer a stock look i want to preserve s-pen functionality - but not the rest of the Samsung features.
I mainly want the phone to be much faster, stable, with better battery life and some extra customization features would be nice.
p.s
My note is still not rooted yet- and my current version is of the local representative of samsung in Israel.
Thank you

here you are
I would like to say that SLIMBEAN is the best rom ever!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115434
Note that it is still in its beta testing stage and stable release is coming soon.
but i ve flashed this and it's uber awesome!!!!

Is the "Slim Bean - N7100 " support the s-pen functionality- because it's quite important to me ?
Isn't are any ROM with a stable version....?

Whilst it is a great ROM, which will only get better, Slimbean is a "bleeding edge" AOSP ROM and is totally inappropriate for your needs. There is no S-Pen/S-Note functionality.
Omega is very stable and retains a stock TW look, with additional stable functionality (such as more toggles etc) and tweaking stock TW performance. Give it a go.

S-pen and Headphone modes work as normal.
Best ROM out there IMO

What kind of ROM you running ? Stock or AOSP ?

Just got my Note 2 last night Awesome device, a bit bigger than my old international One X running CM10, but getting used to size. I rooted it out of the box, man it was the easiest quickest root ever for me. Just installed a stock ROM and simple ICS blue theme to start off, and try out the S-Pen and Touchwiz features. So far so good, running on Straight Talk ATT sim, very fast, great service today so far. .
I have been on stock AOSP Android for years, Nexus-One, Nexus-S, Galaxy Nexus, One X running CM10. I did have the Galaxy S II running a good stock Touchwiz ROM and heavily ICS theme which I liked a lot.
Curious what are you running ? Stock Touchwiz based ROM, or AOSP CM10.1 ROM ? I love AOSP, but are any of the CM10 based ROM's for the Note II good enough as a daily ROM with little bugs ? But AOSP ROM's on the Note II get rid of all the S-Pen features and note writing ? I mean the S-Pen is a big deal on the Note phones, would suck to lose all those features, but then again AOSP is awesome if a good stable and quality ROM.
Of the AOSP ROM's which one for our Note II is the most stable, and offer custom DPI and cool features above and beyond just stock nightly CM10.1 ? And of the stock Touchwiz ROM's which is your favorite, with cool themes and dark apps ? So many to chose from
I am using Nova launcher, and makes the phone look more stock, with cool features, and the 6 x 6 grid fits the Note perfectly. I am shocked actually with Nova on a stock rom, it does feel act very much like stock AOSP.
Thank you
When im still on note 1, i keep changing rom in between aosp or tw custom rom. Aosp or cm rom give my note 1 lag free and smooth experienced. But im personally will get boring after 1 or 2 days with those rom. That was because those aosp make my note 1 just similar to other bigger screen devices. Without tw or spen features i cant see any special of my note 1. Since im personally using a lot of photo editing for my daily job.
When came to note 2. Im totally never consider any other type of rom beside Tw based rom. Even note2 still using A9 chips. But with quadcore+2gb ram strong hardware spec, now a days all tw based rom available are just running smooth and responsive as other type of rom.
Therefore, im personally will comment that, i bought note 2 not only the bigger screen. The main point drive me to bought note 2 is about the features and the great utilities of spen on snote.
Without spen features, it just a normal large screen devices. I dont see the point why i would buy note 2 if i would go other type of rom beside tw based rom.
Indeed, everyone have their own choice and taste and nothing wrong at all. Maybe some of them just like the bigger screen only and prefer the pure android experienced. But all this depend on different person of choices. Nothing to argue.
I has tried so many snote replacement app on my note 1. But at the the moment, still no single app able to come close to origin snote.

AOSP Roms vs Stock Touchwiz on the Note 2

So had my note 2 for a couple of months now, and love it. I'm using stock (but rooted) 4.1.1.
I've got Apex launcher and most icons and stuff skinned to AOSP, though I miss some of the AOSP apps and the look and feel around the device of AOSP.
What would I miss if I left touchwiz? The rom needs to be *rock solid* stable as well - I'm only moving if it feels as smooth as stock!
Suggestions?
from my experience:
Stock advantages:
better Camera, Camcorder with slow motion video, everything regarding Spen that is going beyond simple gestures, Spen software even though you can get replacements for that (like Papyrus instead of SNote), Allshare Cast and working MHL and HDMI output through dock, multiwindow
AOSP advantages:
faster Speed, newer Android version including its features (for 4.2.2 you get lockscreen widgets for example), open community with many innovative design ideas like PIE Navigation or PA hybrid engine and the like, AOSP look (if that's your thing, it is for me), a lot less bloatware -> choose what you want to install
They are both as stable as anything you can get in terms of ROMs. In the end it's a question of what features you want to have, if you can live without the Samsung exclusive stuff or not.
+1 mrruin
I love aosp roms but im sticking to Tw rom just for the sake of camera features. .

Which is the most stable AOSP rom? Carbon looks nice though there's no bug list or tracker that I can find?
Also just found my device has the SDS chip so not going to be doing anything while I'm still in warranty
Imo liquid smooth is the best.U can also try slim bean 3 !

In general I find battery life a lot better on stock roms rather than AOSP.
Honestly, you'd miss a hell lot. It would just be another phone with massive screen with AOSP. I mean sure, you get the stock android experience and all that jazz, but on Note II, I would highly recommend sticking to TW based roms.
You'd miss: A hell lot of SPen features (like Airview), Multitasking, Motion, Camera app, S Note, other apps like Polaris Office if you use that. And from my experience, far more bug free than AOSP roms - again, that's purely my experience, might be way off here.
Just get a good AOSP themed TW based ROM and AOSP apps. I'm using Project AOSP now, AllianceROM is good too, from what I hear.
I like Touchwiz based roms on this phone a lot more, not back in the s1 and s2 days, cm was way better, but now Samsung finally got there act together.

best aosp for me - carbon ... they got nightly version as well haha
best tw based - ARHD or Wanam or Monxdified (cant go wrong with any of them)
best mix of both world - project aosp
I can confirm alliance ROM. I'm running it on a Verizon note 2 and it is the business! Keep coming back to it even during my own confusion on if I should run aosp or touchwiz

Personally I think you should stick to stock. All the hardware works properly then, especially the camera which has always been a problem with the open source ROMS. You DO end up with more memory and less "blo
In fact jonatton has already said it all clearly.
I'm a firm believer in the statement "My phone with custom ASOP runs so much faster, now that half the features don't work properly!!"
ASOP was a good choice on a lot of older phones where the stock ui was too heavy for the hardware. The Note II is not one of those phones. It's such a mighty beast that nothing much can really slow it down. Has anyone actually been able to fill the ram up yet? Not me that's for sure.

I have to agree that the Note 2 is a better phone running Touchwiz based ROMs. When I initially rooted my phone I went with the Note-orious Prime ROM with the Note2 Core kernel. I then decided to try another ROM so I ran my Note 2 on Pacman, Paranoid Android 3.
Sure the Paranoid ROM was amazing in its customization and had a buttery smoothness, but thats it.
I lost all pen features, s-voice which actually works brilliantly for me. I had random weird system issues. The camera sucked. Lost all voice command capabilities.
The other day I had enough, flipped back to Note-orious Prime and now wont look back.
The way I look at it is that it isnt bloatware if you actually use it.
EDIT: to add I also had atrocious battery life with the paranoid rom compared to the touchwiz.
Interesting thread.
I also might start off with a TW based ROM.

+1 .....yup ....you are right ....hardware support is must ....im ARHD v17 ..best rom ever...few days ago posted the same post but some, so called critc's who think they are Developers ....did not like it at all :banghead:

Been messing around with note 2 roms, and I too must say that stock tw feels best for me. I thought I don't care much for Sammy stock bloatware, but as I installed AOSP roms I started to miss my s note, air view, s Pen gestures etc. Now I tend to stick with tw based. Love phoenix, bobcat, arhd, wanamlite and assassin.

to add on to what's already been said I've actually been bouncing back & fourth from AOSP to TW & I've ran into a little issue that has me staying with TW for permanent although I love the DPI options you get on AOSP the most important feature for me was that my Beats headphones would barely work on Aosp I'd always get complaints from people saying they could barely hear me..never happens on TW though..
*Yawn* Another best ROM thread

Looking for a rom..

Hey, I'm looking for a ROM that has the following features:
- NO bugs
- Must be stable, very fast, and good battery life
- It can be any version (4.1.2 up)
- Must be rootable and without knox
(I saw cyanogen team made a kitkat rom for note 2..how is it?)
Currently I have 4.3 deodexed, pre rooted, deknoxed rom with note 3 spen features but it is slow, has relevant bugs, and it crashes often.
I looked in the android dev section but there are too many rom and I dont know if they have the feature I'm looking for.
Thank you!
There's no such thing as 'bug free Roms' especially for custom Roms since even the ROM developed by the manufacturer has bugs in them.
But if you want to have a 'stable' ROM, you might want to stick to 'stable' or RC aka release candidate. These Roms should have noticeably lesser bugs than nightlies even though nightlies are quite usable as daily drivers. 'Fast and longer battery life' - Disabling animations and other unnecessary widget and apps like halo will make a ROM faster with longer battery life. Customs Roms are all rooted and knox free.
I'm currently using PAC rom and on a good day I'm able to make it last for about 14 hours or more depending on usage. CM is a no frills type of ROM. It should be fast and decent enough when it comes to battery life but its quite subjective and varies from person to person.

yes there are no 'free bug' s rom but you can find the best one for you. for me is Omega.:good:

Try Illusion. It's wicked fast and amazing battery life. (Use plasma kernel, stweaks and undervolt. Makes it even faster.) No known bugs. (Except for the thousands I'm experiencing that no one else has.)
P.S. there isn't a ROM with 0 bugs. (Even stock has bugs.)
Smack that thanks button If I helped!
Always make a nandroid backup before trying anything risky

Did you go through the Ditto Note 3 (DN3) page??
Suggest you give it a shot. However, please confirm the compatibility with your device.
Agree with all above comments regarding the bug thing. But IMHO I thing Slimbean or Slimkat are really good choices, if you are looking for AOSP, that is. If you are looking for TW roms, Jedi roms are, again, IMHO, the most stable out there. All of them had good battery life and are speedy too....

Well there are many other tweaks for an optimized battery life, which can be managed even without a custom rom

[Q] Current best rom for P605? Opinion and advice please. Thanks!

Can someone post their opinions and or advise regarding the current custom roms for Note 10.1 P605 LTE? I just want to know which one I should download. I will be coming from a stock rom. Are there any roms out there which is stable and has a great battery life. I will mainly use my tab for school purposes. Thanks!
I hope someone will notice and reply to this post Thanks!
I think the Hanspampel's xkat ROM is the best, but there aren't many differents. It is an Stock-based ROM and not much modified.
The two AOSP-based Custom ROMs(Cyanogenmod and AOKP) are not completly stable and bugfree, but for that very fluid.
I see, thank you for replying
I'll wait for more suggestions from others
Personally I would stick to the tried and true cyanogenmod. It offers a fast stock like experience and is fluid. Try to aim for a stable build. Keep in mind that some of the same pen features might not work which is the key selling point of the note.
Would you prefer the cm rom which is based on AOSP or a samsung based rom?
Anyway, is there's also a custom rom which is samsung based which improves the battery life?
Current on my stock 4.4.2 rom, I roughly get 9 hrs of screen time. Is that normal?
Lasty, I would like to ask if it is really an issue that our P605 doest produce a stereo sound on it's speakers?

S4 mini stable rom

I have bought recently s4 mini LTE and I will rely on this phone in mountains in summer.
Can anybody point me to the stable rom with good battery life and working gps? I don't care much about features or android version.
I would prefer the recent android version but the stability and battery life is more important to me.
I am now on exodus Android 6 rom. Thank you for suggestions.
The rom that are you using is the best and stable rom
I own the same phone, but I have no experience whatsoever in flashing a custom rom.
How do I do it?
Which one should I pick? I want it to be stable and fast.
Why is Exodus considered the best option?
