[Q] big trouble updating prl!! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

OK.....Very strange indeed, currently on lovely Kuban F127, when attempting to update the prl , after my phone immediately dials 911!!, this has happened more than once, & i believe my local authorities are none to pleased with me as of late. I believe i started noticing this happen after the F103 flash (im not certain really)....Could this be sprint savatage by chance?? I dont know of any other explanation available

I've never seen that on updating the prl, but when updating the profile it will say rebooting and a 15 second countdown after you click OK. I've never had my phone do the emergency call though. I just let it reboot on its own

Well mine did do that on profile update, on prl it stated completed & then dialed 911, could'nt hang up in time & received a call back

I accidentally hit the "Emergeny Call" button after updating my profile once. I just dropped the battery out before it rang. You get pretty quick at that when your phone crashes once every few days. I have never seen the "Emergency Call" button after updating my PRL though. It must be a bug in the ROM.

Nah i dont believe so, because it happened "originally" on another rom first, which drove me to try another...so im kinda led to believe it was from one of the leaked builds, im just hoping not F127, because i love kuban

[Q] Phone mutes during calls

After I updated to stock Froyo, my phone started muting during calls. No face pressing of buttons, and the mute button wasn't on. It just muted itself, and the only way for me to fix it was to turn speakerphone on and off. I thought rooting the phone and putting a custom ROM (Syndicate Frozen) on the phone might help, so I did just that. The problem is still on-going.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any solution? My Epic is my main phone and it's done this on a few very important phone calls a few times already. Before I take it into Sprint I just was curious if there's a simple, less having-to-deal-with-face-to-face-tech-support kind of way.
Thank you. I apologize if this has been answered already.
Is the phone muting your voice so that the caller can't hear you, but you can still hear the caller?
I had the exact same thing happen with my Epic and I ended up having Sprint exchange it for another phone.
Out of curiosity, what happens if you turn on speakerphone?
Ahh, yes that's exactly what happens. They can't hear me, but I hear them perfectly fine. Usually what I hear is, "Are you there? Hey, are you there?" a few times before I realized what happened, and no matter how many times I tell my mom to just stay on the line and I'll fix the problem in two seconds after it dawns on me what happened, she always hangs up in a huff.
When I turn on speakerphone they can hear me right away, then I just turn it back off and everything is fine the rest of the call. It doesn't even happen every call, which is the best part. I'll be in the middle of a 10 minute conversation and it will mute itself, then the next phone call will last 45 minutes with no problems.
Does the mute icon show it's on? Did you try backing up and simply switching roms? If there's too much trouble, odin ec05 and take it in to repair if the problem still exists.

BTW, when using ODIN start from having the phone off and connected to the computer. hit the power and number 1...
Use the instructions on the odin page
TAKE OUT THE BATTERY BEFORE STARTING
mine always got stuck unless i took the battery out.

Thank you for the tips, ya'll. I'm going to first update the ROM I'm using now (as there is an update out). If that doesn't help it's off to Sprint I go.
Thanks again.

when you go make sure its a corporate store they have the techs and tell them you already called customer service (dont bother calling them there gonna tell you to factory reset...........every time i have called i can hear that that most if not all are reading from a scrip) then the tech will try to get out of helping you by saying its the towers (bull sh$%) that the most popular answer you will get........ And for the bad news the phone that u will get is a referb
did you try to updat the PRL and profile?
AND FOR GOD SAKES if your rooted got back to stock 2.2 EC05
My phone did the same thing after the upgrade. It is random though. The phone mutes during calls randomly but mute button doesn't light and my face hasn't hit it. I've been trying to find out how to correct the problem, but my Epic was working fine until the upgrade.

[Q] Caller Can't Hear Me

This has been happening on my Epic 4G for awhile now and it's really frustrating. I'm pretty sure this hasn't been happening the whole time I've owned the phone, but at this point it's hard to really remmber.
Basically, when I make or receive a call, within a couple\few minutes of the phone call the caller suddenly can't hear me - this happens whether it's using the phone normally, in speakerphone mode, or even a headset. As soon as it happens and the other caller starts the "Hello? Are you still there?" I can fix it by toggling the speaker on and off (or off and on) and it fixes it - but it can suddenly start again at anytime...couple of minutes later, five minutes later, etc.
Right now I'm slowly removing apps from my phone after every call this happens on - my goal is to determine if a particualr app is confusing my phone. I don't think it's the ROM or modem I'm using (Frozen 1.2, EC05) as I did a stock flash and flashed to those just recently and others aren't having the same problem. I DID restore some data so if I can't narrow down an app that's causing it, not restoring any data is my next option (but even more time consuming to figure out specifically which data is causing issues).
I'm pretty sure the phone hasn't always done this so I don't want to exchange the phone considering I don't have any other issues and I think this is software, not hardware related. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?
Have you tried switching Roms, I have this same problem on EC05 when I moved to gingerbread it stopped happening.......
Do you voodoo installed?

I was having the same problem with EF02 and the EF02/EF10 modems. I switched back to the EC05 modem and haven't had the problem since (knocking on wood)...

I do have Voodoo installed (since it comes with Frozen 1.2). I haven't tried switching ROMs yet but I have started looking again (I was pretty content with Frozen but if no one had a similar issue and changing the modem doesn't work then a ROM switch is my next try).
Thanks to others who suggested changing modems - I'm going to do that now and see if EE03 fixes this....*crosses fingers*

Go into you Voodoo sound settings and change recording setting to Original. Shoul fix your issue.

Yes! Mine started doing this a couple months ago, and I resolve it exactly the same way (though I have to hit the volume button once, either up or down, then toggle speaker on then off). It's definitely not the ROM because I've had it with both Froyo and GB ROMs. Unfortunately, I haven't found any other solution, yet. I'm hoping it will go away with official GB, but I have no real reason to think it will work. I'm going to play around with the Voodoo sound.

you guys shouldn't be having this problem make a backup then odin to ec05 stock and check if you still have the issue if you do just take it to sprint and show the tech your problem they should fix it or get you a replacement phone.
I have the same issue. I am completely stock. It usually happens 10 to 15 minutes into a phone call. I've already called sprint, taken it to a store but only reflashed the os, and I just recently spoke to someone on chat, who said the problem has been solved. If it happens again should I get a replacement phone?
Blankrubbers fix actually worked for me

I had this problem as well. I odinned stock and problem solved. Now I'm back on bonsai with no problems.
Edit: I just noticed that I don't have voodoo sound installed, I know that I used to, maybe deleting that solved my problem and not odinning back to stock.

Sadly even after changing modems and making the adjustment in Voodoo Control I still have the same problem. Going to uninstall Voodoo all together and see if that resolves anything.
I just discovered that I'm having the same problem after I Odin'd back to stock EC05 for a different reason. So, EC05 and EC05 modem, and I'm having a problem that I didn't think I was having before I tried EF02.
Could something have been changed that going back to EC05/EC05 modem didn't resolve?

This problem is not generated by Voodoo. I have a stock Epic (rooted) and have never had Voodoo installed on my device and I have intermittently had this problem in the past (haven't seen it for a while, though). My friend has an Epic (never rooted) and also has this problem.
About the only thing I've heard that people have said fixes this is to wipe cache and dalvik and then flash something using Odin. Stock or custom I don't think matters.
As others have noted, uninstalling Voodoo didn't fix it for me. I think what must be causing this is everytime I wipe and install a clean ROM I restore some data through TiBackup and SOMETHING I'm restoring is causing this. Guess I'll just have to wipe and be very careful about what I'm restoring.
This might be completely random, but by chance did other people that experience this problem happen to install NZBAir?

Cannot hear caller, then phone restarts GNEX

Odd problem is now happening to my wife's new GNEX. This phone is barely 2 weeks old, HAS NOT BEEN ROOTED, but now all of a sudden when you call her phone, not only can you not hear the person on the other end talking, (I have held each phone to each ear to test it) and it then restarts. I did a backup, then proceeded with a factory restart. After this was done, I tested it again, this time I could hear myself. 2nd test, it did it again, and is now only do this. Any ideas?
This phone will be going back to Best Buy tomorrow, but someone else may be having this problem as well. So what do you guys think might be happening to this phone?
Thanks in advance.

Happened to me twice (random) and some calls went straight to voice mail without ringing. Running yakju 4.1.1 rooted with UGLH1 baseband. Will revert back to default XXLF1 to see if it makes any difference.

There are so many version of baseband available out there. You will need to try one is most suitable to your network. Baseband application can be found at the link below:

Choices are quite limited. Being in Canada and with Wind, it has to be UGLA4 or later for data roaming bug fix...
I'll remain on UGLH1 and testing minfree profile tweak instead. (Now on aggressive setting)

i had a problem like that happen to me too...it started when someone called me and my phone just froze then rebooted itself, from then on everytime i got a call it would connect for a few secs (no audio) then reboot
i factory wiped and cleared everything...only to realize the solution was just to remove the sim card and put it back
try that...sometimes its the simplest solutions that work
Took it into best buy, and they swapped the sim card. Problem solved.

Updating profile causes emergency call...?

I went to update my PRL and profile this morning after restoring a nandroid after messing up some settings in the phone yesterday, and when I went to update my profile, it updated then gave an emergency call screen?
I know some folks in the FK09 thread have had this issue, but I haven't flashed anything FK09 or FJ10 related on my phone. Anyone know how to fix this?
Didn't you hear, that is the new DHS anti hack software that alerts them of a hack attempt. Its part of the new cyber security bill currently being run thru congress.
And oh Im just messing with ya.

I am currently running EL26 Android 2.3.6 after running FK09 for a bit. I see the same thing. I feel like there is a part of the device that we cannot access. There is no reason that this message should be showing up on android 2.3.6 EL26.
really weird !
It's not a problem its just Sprint making changes on how there network works. Guess you guys missed the Network Vision upgrade they're doing. Things are bound to change. You can OC back to EK30 and It'll still happen. My Evo3D does the same now too.

Ya i saw this a couple days ago! The second Profile update ends it pops up and shuts phone down. Check out the blu kuban thread in general I have a screen shot. It pisses me off! I quickly found a work around from rebooting. I put the samsung task manager on home page. So when this pops up, hit home. Then clear memory, and phone wont reboot. Works like a champ.
Same thing happened on my phone. A emergency countdown appeared on screen. When I clicked the back button, it started to dial 911. Any idea how I can update my profile without dialing 911?

The countdown is until reboot. If you need to make an emergency call, hit the button... Otherwise just reboot and it will be fine.

Service issues

Not sure if it's the rom or modem as I flashed both at the same time. But I'm running a fresh wipe of cleanrom 1.5 and a radomly I loose service a lot I can look at the phone and it will randomly have no service for ablut. A min and then come back. This never happened before. When I flashed for the first few days I was at my house which I have a microcell and I even exspanced the issue there as well

This is also happening to me. I am not even rooted and never had my note 2 rooted, still completely stock. when i was using my captivate everything was fine, On my note my phone will be sitting next to me and it will show like 3 to 4 bars and someone will try calling me and the phone will not ring. I had my wife call me like 12 times in a row and the phone didn't ring once. On her end it would ring and ring then go to voice mail which is odd because usually when you don't have service it will like ring once and then go to voice mail. I have a lot of people telling me they called me but my phone never rings or shows a missed call when this problem is happening. This happens randomly and i don't know what triggers it. I was about to root few months back and then these issues started popping up so i decided to hold off. Problems like the screen rotation always sticks and i will have to restart the phone every other day just so the apps will rotate properly and other little things that.
