So my phone was working 10 min ago, as I walked through the rain home.
Was listening music and then the volume buttons stopped working exactly ( wouldn't turn / down up the volume ) and I couldn't power off the phone, so I decided to get the battery out.
After that I wanted to turn the phone on, but instead it showed me a green light and vibrated 5 times.
Now I'm back home and put in the charger ( with the battery in ) and also tried another battery but it still shows me the green light and won't turn off.
Is my phone broken now?!
If it does care, I have JellyTime 4.2.1 R4 on my Desire HD
Thanks in advance

This is a hardware problem and it happens because your volume buttons are stuck. You would need to go in there check it and fix it.
But it could be something else, my volume keys died from water some time ago, didn't effect operation in anyway. You might want to check for water damage, it may of killed the phone.

the vibrations mean that your phone is dead ...
I got inspire 4g with "volume up" stuck button, and it only vibrates 7 times. ill repost if it will start boot after button fix. :fingers-crossed:

Hi! Bought the HTC One X today. After turning on he offered a system update. Phone was charged up to 50%, then an update was launched. Phone stayed pluged in to charger. Green arrows appeared for 40-50 min then screen gone black and thats it. No volume up/down + power buttons, no power button for 10 sec can't help.
But! Phone is visible like a device by computer, when pluged over usb. And led is yellow when pluged to charger.
Need help.

Hi! Bought the HTC One X a few days ago.It offered me a system update. Phone was charged up to 50%, then an update was launched. Phone stayed pluged in to charger. Green arrows appeared for 1-2 hours then screen gone black and thats it. No volume up/down + power buttons, no power.
Phone is not visible like a device by computer, when plugged in power no led lights ( green or orange). Could you help me, please? Any advice what to do?
Thanks
I suppose you have allready fix that problem, anyway my solution was to keep that phone on charging for a few hours.
My phone is totally non-responsive. Pressing the power button is non-responsive, plugging it in to charge does not seem to work; no red charging LED. Won't boot while plugged in.
Here's what happened:
I set two alarms for this morning. One to wake up for a skype call I was supposed to make, and a second to actually get up. I hit snooze when the first alarm went off. I had about 50% battery according to the battery icon in the top right. I decided to make the call anyway and launched skype and started a video call. During the call the alarm went off again and I dismissed it. The video was frozen on the frame when the alarm went off. I backed out of the video on the skype app, and went back to it. The video was now black, and the phone warned me the camera was off. The camera icon in skype showed it was on, but i pressed it anyway, at which point the icon changed to the no-video icon. I selected front camera, the icon remained showing a camera with a red line through it. I still did not have video, my calling partner could not see me anymore either. We finished the call with audio only, about 15 minute total phone time. I pressed the top hardware button to shut off the screen and I went back to sleep waiting for the next alarm. That never came. I woke up and tried to turn on the screen with the hardware button and nothing happened. I believe I saw it flash a green LED notification as I was doing this too, but it never flashed again. I thought maybe I left skype open and the battery died, so I plugged it in. The phone won't start charging, or at least the LED wont show. I tried booting it after it was plugged in five minutes (still no LED) and nothing happens.
I unplugged it and tried holding power and down volume for 30 seconds, then I tried power and up volume, then I tried power and both down and up volume all for more than 30 seconds. No response. (what is the proper hard reset for this phone anyway?) I have since left in unplugged hoping that the battery will completely drain and then I can start using it.
Any ideas in the meantime? this phone will last a week with 50% without using the screen or the processor.

No, nothing. I have a fully appreciation for the term "bricked" right now.
I think going back to the store is your best option in this case .... Unfortunately
yea, I think so too. I already emailed customer support.
If you plug the phone into a computer, go to device manager. Does it say QHSUSB_DLOAD anywhere?

So I went out all day and left my phone at home (the shop i bought the phone is on the ground floor of my office building an hour away, I was going to wait till monday to have it looked at there). Got back and plugged it in, was about to try usaff22's suggestion, but the LED started flashing red. after a bit it went solid and the phone turned right on. still no word from HTC, but it is the weekend and all. Maybe Jellybean will fix the root of the problem. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions everyone!
Hi there
I updated my phone to jellybean yesterday i am with tmobile uk , the phone worked fine after this everything seemed to install ok.
until a hour ago, i got a phone call answered it, then hung up, i put my phone in my pocket, next time i took it out the phone was locked on the boot page the white screen with htc logo on, i tried to power it off and the the 3 buttons on the bottom of phone started to flash white for 10 seconds then phone swithed off. the phone wont turn back on, it wont charge, tried usb to computer no lights nothing. the phone was fully charged when it switched off. my phones a standard one never touched bootloader etc
i spoke to htc they think its software problem, they say when i downloaded jellybean i used 3g not wifi (my fault) this could have caused the problem as there could of been a drop in signal they tell me.
the problem i have they want 210 pound to fix and they say its not under warranty as i have had the screen replaced, but not by htc voiding the warranty.
Can anyone here give me some advice or help to fix my phone please.
thanks

Can you enter the bootloader by holding the power button and the volume - button together, keep them pressed until it enters the bootloader.

Hey everyone,
I have a HTC One V (Primo U), running Shpongle 4.2.2. It was working fine until yesterday, when I woke up after a nap and failed to turn on the phone's screen. Pressed the power button, but the screen won't wake up. Held the power button for 10 sec, phone restarted (I know this because of the vibration) but the screen remained dark. Called my cell, and it was ringing, but nothing on the screen. Now it's lying on my desk, with the notification LED blinkng (because I have missed calls).
Even the touch is working, because I tried swiping in the right area to answer a call and it worked, even though I couldn't see jack.
I held the Vol Up while restarting the phone, it went to bootloader (I'm guessing), but the screen was dark.
Is there any way I can save my cell

Did you broke the screen?
Hello,
I have my HTC One M8 (international) for 3-4 months, I never had problems with it. Just half an hour ago, I grabbed my phone to go to bed, I tried double tapping it to wake it up, it vibrated as usual but the screen didn't lit up. Then everything I tried afterwards didn't work.
I held the power button for like 10-15 seconds when the intro sound ringed but the screen wasn't lit up at all. I plugged it in, the LED doesn't light up BUT the phone warms up (normal charging temperature). My phone had 58% battery when I last checked it half an hour earlier. After all this, the phone didn't wan't to do anything else (not even long pressing power button).
I checked my phone at around 12 midnight when it just died. The last timestamp with the location of my device from google was at 11:16 PM (location was recorded every minute till 11:16 when it stopped).
Before I contact HTC Support (I have to wait till tomorrow to chat with them in the morning), is there anything I'm missing ? Can this be solved easily ? I tried entering the boot screen using the Volume Down + Power button .
I solved the problem. The whole phone crashed and nothing seemed to work. The only solution for reviving him was to press and hold Volume Up + Power button keys and the phone resets (no loss of data).
