Hi there
I updated my phone to jellybean yesterday i am with tmobile uk , the phone worked fine after this everything seemed to install ok.
until a hour ago, i got a phone call answered it, then hung up, i put my phone in my pocket, next time i took it out the phone was locked on the boot page the white screen with htc logo on, i tried to power it off and the the 3 buttons on the bottom of phone started to flash white for 10 seconds then phone swithed off. the phone wont turn back on, it wont charge, tried usb to computer no lights nothing. the phone was fully charged when it switched off. my phones a standard one never touched bootloader etc
i spoke to htc they think its software problem, they say when i downloaded jellybean i used 3g not wifi (my fault) this could have caused the problem as there could of been a drop in signal they tell me.
the problem i have they want 210 pound to fix and they say its not under warranty as i have had the screen replaced, but not by htc voiding the warranty.
Can anyone here give me some advice or help to fix my phone please.
thanks
maka
Can you enter the bootloader by holding the power button and the volume - button together, keep them pressed until it enters the bootloader.

Hi guys, first sorry for my bad english, I'm italian
So... i've an 11 days old HTC desire, i'ven't flashed it with unoffial roms, never done strange things with it but now, it doesn't want to works.
The only operations i made with my htc are:
1 official firmware update (yesterday),
2 apps download from market...
the phone was on before i found it off without any reason...
Never dropped, never beaten, i don't know why it doesn't works
Please can you help me?
now i've leaved battery from phone,
could be the protection for overheating on?
Take out the battery and plug the mains charger in, see if the LED shows.
Yes led shows without battery, orange and green...
So the phone works, what exactly is the problem?
i can't turn on the phone, if i try to press power on button it doesn't works...the screen doesn't turn on... if i put battery in and i try to charge the phone no leds are shown... leds appairs only with removed battery...
Try turning on the phone while the battery is out but it's plugged in at the mains. The phone seems fine as it has already shown that the LED's turn on.
Try wiping the plates on the side of the battery with a fabric of some sort and see if that helps.
i've yet tried the first options, doesn't works...
i'll try the second now...
cannot be an overheating protection problem?
Ok guys, my htc has started, but now it stays stucked on HTC green boot logo...
Edit: HTC doesn't start again, ill try to leave battery for a while again than restart...
If its stuck on the green HTC logo then your phone is stuck in a boot loop. Are you sure you haven't done anything with your phone?

only the official update and installed some apps.... i've read that an hard reset maybe help me... hoe to perform it? I've to wait about 2 hours to restart the phone...
Please anyone can help me to make an hard reset on desire?
Try turning on the Desire with the volume down button pressed and then press the power at the same time. Should load the bootloader menu, give it a second or two and scroll down to clear storage by pressing volume down, then to select it, press the power button.

I need to hold power button? or press and release it?
With the 'volume down' button held, press and release the power button.

Well, my Desire stopped charging today and now is dead.
The LED doesn't turn on when i connect the charger.

Hi there!
I have got a really strange problem with my desire. Here is what happened:
I opened the market app whilst using mobile internet. The app froze on the loading screen and the phone was unresponsive.
I pulled the battery and powered on again. All seemed fine.
I opened the market again and the exact same thing happened, only this time I can't turn the phone back on.
I have tried pulling the battery. Tried plugging the phone into a charger without the battery then reinserting the battery. Tried charging the battery until the led went green, still no luck.
I had plenty of battery when this happened.
When the phone is on charge, when you press the power button, the led goes out, but the phone does not turn on.
Does anyone know what this might be? or how I can turn my phone on again?
Thanks all!
Bump, does anybody have any idea?
The only idea I have is a hard factory reset:
Try to start phone with pressed volume down and power button, navigate with volume button to "clear storage" and enter with power button.

Wipe dalvilks cache in recovery

Thanks for the ideas guys. I actually can't power on the device at all. Can't boot into recovery, can't do anything as far as I can tell.
Any other ideas?

What the hell are you doing to ur desire?
Try removing battery for a minute, then re insert it
Then press volume down and without release it, press also power button and wait 5 seconds with both pressed to see if it boots into bootloader and go into recovery too

I removed the charger before putting the battery in. I saw someone recommend it on another forum with a similar problem.
I have tried to get into recovery after leaving the battery out for 12 hours, after charging the phone until the led was green, it seems I've tried everything to get this to work but nothing.
I'm really annoyed as well because I'm 2 weeks out of warranty. It just seems so odd that a software crash could cause all this.
Anybody else got any ideas?
what happens when you press.. volume down and power.. can you see the hboot screen.. is your phone recognised in ur pc?

Absolutely nothing. Totally blank screen, no vibrate nothing. Phone is not recognised by pc. The only things that happen are the following:
When plugged into the charger the orange led comes on, and eventually turns green.
When plugged in, if I press the power button the led turns off, but nothing else happens.
I'm totally at a loss. I called HTC and am sending it in for warranty repair. They said they have extended the warranty to 2 years which is a bit of a turn up for the books, so hopefully they will fix it for free and not charge me for it
Try this:
Boot into hboot
Count (slowly) to 20
Then press the power button once
Connect the usb
Start command prompt
Type "fastboot devices"
For this to work you need to install Android SDK see here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Howto:_Install_the_Android_SDK
If you get anything than somebody can help you. I read somewhere about this issue but I can't find it anymore.
Hi,
I have recently installed a new ROM and then used a mod which doesn't seem to be compatible as now the phone is stuck in a loop. When the phone turns on, it comes up with the HTC-Quietly Brilliant screen then continues to the HTC One (with beats audio at the bottom) screen. It won't move past this. I have tried to get into recovery using the vol down+power button but it just repeats the above. I don't think there was a huge amount of battery (maybe around 40%) which I have read can be a problem.
What can I do to get the phone to boot? I currently have the phone on charge on the HTC One screen in an attempt to get it to work as I cannot do it when turned off however if I take the cable out, the red light stays on making me think it isn't actually charging. Any advice you guys can give would be great. I think if I can get into CWM I'll be ok
Cheers
press the volume down + power for 10 secs, and keep them pressed while it reboots untill you get to the hboot menu
Thanks. I was trying to do that but obviously let go before the 10 seconds. It did it once earlier on but couldn't replicate it. Many thanks-phone is now ok again
Cheers
Can't get past fastboot
ignore me
Try holding down volume down, then while holding it down, hold down the power button for 7 seconds until it turns off, it should then restart into hboot. I had to do it twice in a row to make it work.

Yeah it can be a bit fiddly at times. Grrr
My brother is using HTC ONE V for last 8 months. He got it rooted from his friend some 20 days back, was on stock rom. Yesterday suddenly phone got switched off in the afternoon. he tried to restart it, tried to soft reset- by holding power button. and tried to hard reset by holding power and volume down. but unfortunately phone didnt respond, he connected to a wall charger but no led notification light. now today evening, when he got back home, i also tried same things, but no luck. At last I attached it to my laptop via usb cable, and led notification light was back. I allowed it to charge it for some time and then tried to start it with power button. it worked. phone worked for about 20 mins, during that time it auto rebooted one time, but we thought problem was solved. we also did factory reset to make a new start, it worked fine..phone worked like new for an hour, battery was around 50% or so, and then.. went dead again..we just inserted micro sd card and sim..few minutes after that it went DEAD.. now even laptop isnt recognizing it. no led notification light or windows sound when connected to laptop.
Can anyone help? what has happened? Is it some battery problem??
thanks and regards,
K

So I got an HTC One second hand. Listing just said user reset it and started bootlooping. Got it for cheap so I figured I'd try and fix it.
Got it, and plugged it in (dead battery). The charge light indicator turns on, and the screen turns on with the charging animation, but only for a split second. Then it goes to the splash screen for about 10 seconds or so, screen turns off for a few seconds, then right back on and up to the splash screen.
Tried holding the Vol down to get into bootloader, but so far no good. The only way for it to stop the loop is for the battery to die. When I plug it into an outlet or a computer, it immediately goes right back into the boot loop.
So, is there anyway to save this? Or am I SOL?

Thanks for the reply. I recognize you from the Rez forums when I used to have one .
So, tried that. I plug it in (device is off now because it ran out of juice apparently), and the light blinks, splashscreen comes up for 10 seconds.
After that, it reboots, and the charge light doesn't come on again, and then goes into its bootloop.
I also tried holding the Vol down for around 3 reboot cycles, both on and off the charger.

Still no-go =\.
Tried holding power + vol down at the same time, both on and off the wall charger and still nothing.
Is it a goner?
to me it sounds like there is still hope. as long as you can see the splash screen you still have a chance.
i would put it in a wall charger and just leave it for a bit about 20 min and then try the vol - and power.

That's what I was thinking as well, going from my experience with the Rez anyway.
Alright, I'll just let it sit on the charger for while and hopefully the buzzing doesn't annoy me too much lol.
Still can't get into bootloader .
Tried after about 30 min of being on the charger.
Something weird I noticed, if I press/hold power+vol down while it's on the splash screen, the back/home soft keys will blink 6 times, then the phone shuts off/starts back up again in it's loop (but they won't blink if I was already holding them down before the splash screen came up). Not sure if this is relevant or not, but I figured I would mention it.

Tried it - screen still just goes black, and then repeats the splashscreen bootloop like before.
Should I try contacting HTC and see what they would charge to send it in?

I have this happen to both my max and my kids m8. It was a matter of timing the power and up button combo and then shifting to just vol down the second it rebooted. First time took me twenty minutes to get it right. During which I may have broke a sweat. Don't give up just yet.

So, I should hold Power + Vol UP while on the splash screen, then when the buttons flash, switch to just Vol DOWN? Or am I not doing the correct technique?
So this is what I've tried doing; not sure if it's the correct timing or not:
From a dead battery, plug in and hold power + Vol down, it just goes into bootloop
During the bootloop, held Vol Down during the black screen in between the white HTC splashscreen; still bootloop (tried this at various times in between the splashscreen loops; there's about a 5 sec gap of black screen)
Tried the same above, but with Power + Vol Down
Tried Power + Vol Down during the white splashscreen, the back/home soft keys blink 4 - 6 times, and releasing the power button while keeping vol down held, and then reboots into the bootloop again
Not sure what to do at this point, besides contact HTC, unless you guys have any ideas/proper order to press the buttons?
Edit: plugged it into my computer, and about 3/4 of the way through the HTC Splashscreen, I hear the USB plugged in noise, then immediately the eject noise. For a second I can see "Android Phone" listed under Devices and Printers. Tried running fastboot reboot-bootloader and it didn't catch it. Tried running adb devices during the second it's recognized, but it didn't see anything. Tried in both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports.
Also tried pressing Vol down during the time its recognized, but either my timing was off, or it didn't work.
Update: Also tried holding the light sensors under a lightbulb and tried the above attempts (read somewhere this has worked for people)... still a no-go.

Still haven't been able to get it after a couple days of trying on and off.
Contacted HTC and I'm going to send it into them.
Since I'm not sure what HBoot is on it currently... if they were to update it to the latest (newest OTA) that's just been released before returning it to me... will I still be able to unlock bootloader/S-Off with Firewater/Weaksauce?
Thanks for the suggestions you guys provided dottat and synisterwolf I appreciate it!
sorry ive been away, work has be busy. If they do update it, there is no way to unlock or s-off ATM. the OTA might be to new for them to care and just flash you back to 4.4.2 sense 5.5

No problem man.
Lame.. hopefully hey don't update it. According to the agreement notice they emailed me with my ticket info and stuff, it says" Please note that all repaired devices will be set to carrier or HTC specifications, and will be factory reset."
Hopefully that means that they'll just reset it back to how it came and not update it.
Otherwise I guess I'll either wait or try and sell it, since the device itself is pretty much mint.
So I got it back today from HTC... and I think they updated it . Can somebody confirm for me?
Bootloader says this:
PVT SHIP S-ON
HBoot-1.57.0000
Radio-1.13.41.0421
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-4.10.605.3
Settings says:
4.4.2
Sense 6.0
4.10.605.3
So there's no way to root, or S-Off, or bootloader unlock right? Neither Rumrunner nor Firewater work? Is an unlock exploit being researched?
