I would think so. I just want to make sure so I don't brick my device.
Just use the Odin method.

You wont be able to load the system files from your nandroid or data as you will. From titanium, yeah.. You can load your apps again

Hey XDA! I need some help. I am trying to recover 3 Images that I really need. I backed up using clockworkmod backup, before I installed Darkside ICS. Is it possible to get those images from the nandroid backup?
just restore data from advance restore in CWM
Or just ask her to resend them

this seems to cause a issue for my gs2 goes into a boot loop
Question...im kinda new to flashing roms etc..im having a issue with backing up my roms...everytime i back one up and tey to go back to it it will not let me, i get a md5 error everytime..can some one please tell me what im doing wrong??
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Are you renaming the saved roms in a file manager? That can cause the md5 error. Second suggestion would be to do ur backups via recovery and skip doing it thru the app.
Sent from GalaxyS2 using xda premium
No, I have not renamed them at all. I save it and move on. I will try the other way and see. Its not a huge deal because i can re-flash it i just hate having to set it all back up..thanks ill try it.

check your storage memory
Backup in recovery skip the app it just causes more problems. I haven't used it in a couple years now.

Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
For all my backups and restore, I'll reboot into recovery menu and complete it from there.

Backup complete!
Is this normal?

Yes.
And when you restore a backup, go thru recovery just the same way as you did the backup.

Questions go in the Q&A section
so im not really from around these parts but my girlfriend has this phone, and doesn't want root but would like to have a nandroid backup, is there any problems with odin'ing cwm and not flashing su, and just leaving the phone unrooted? or is that a horrible idea?
the phone is tmobile stock w/ the most recent ics update btw
also, sorry if this has been asked, i'm sorry.. but I looked around and didn't see this question posted anywhere, but
thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

My only question would be...why bother?
Edit: if it's for back up reasons, just backup to Google and she's all good.

Mostly for experimental purposes.. I've never had a phone that is so easy to flash a custom recovery without rooting.. but also because we want to backup more than just contacts and calendars..
I was just wondering if it's a bad idea to flash the recovery and not root the device

He helped truth77 with the framwork-res while developing his ROM. Just passed his thread a moment ago and read it.
Thanks Dafoxs!

Basically was doing a restore after a full wipe. I noticed the restore went allot faster then normal. I figured it was because the new twrp update speeded it up some how. I didn't get a failed message. Umm, no. It was a bad backup. I went to hit restore again and instead did a reboot. The phone was stuck on the Samsung white screen. With wish and truth helping, we got the phone into download mode and using Odin flashed the cwm recovery tar file. Then got the the phone into recovery and flashed a ROM I had on my card.
Moral of the story. If it doesn't seem right dont follow through with it and always keep a working ROM zip on your card. It was totally my fault.
Just noticed, that restore was only 506mb. I ran out of space.

Let me start be saying be very carefully using the new twrp. I have tons of space now. Just tried to do a backup. It finished in 0 seconds, no fail message. I think I know what I'm doing and that is broke.

Wahooo..lol :sly:
I've had no problem with backups on mine. Matter of fact I've restored it once and it worked perfect.

i have restored backups back to back to back using twrp and have had no issues, even just restoring data it works fine.
glad you got it back up and running though.

Its been fixed, no worries.
FYI. In the new version you have to choose what you want backed up. Make real sure you check the boxes in the name screen.
Full wipe + no check marks = a real bad day
