I'm plannign to buy a one x - HTC One X

for 300$ since i broke my sensation, good price?
its the international version (thank god) but if its international do i need a specific version to flash roms because back in the sensation forums, they were all the same.

If it's carrier branded, it somewhat restricts rom flashing capabilities.
Otherwise the international versions should be all the same regarding ROM flashing.

how do you know if its carrier branded, the guys told me its international and he got it from hong kong

An almost certain way to know it is to download cid getter from market and look at the cid. If the cid is something like tmob__xxx or vodap__xxx then it's branded.
Also branded phones often have special carrier apps and/or boot animation.
I doubt it being branded if it's from hong kong.

Maybe you should also go to bootloader vol down + power button for around 10-15 sec till you get into the bootloader, just so you make sure it is really original HOX , there are rummors about many *fake* hoxes coming from china. Anyway 300$ is a great price for hox.

Yeah, download cid getter from the playstore and you'll see above the cid of that device, then you could post the cid number in here so we can tell you from where it comes from.

You'd be better off buying any decent android tablet and picking up a dirt cheap Nokia.
Since i got my tablet I hardly ever use apps on my phone.
I'm only using my phone now cos my gf is hogging my nexus. Damn her to hell...

Don't do it. There are more developer friendly phones available and that means that the people with this phone are often so grateful that they don't question the predicament we're in. We have no official working CyanogenMod build at all. In fact we only have a slightly dated Paranoid Android and a fantastic AOSP build (thanks PabX).
This phone is far from liberated and with developers of the mindset that they won't try until kernel sources of which they have no ETA are released, it's not looking like we'll see freedom any time soon. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to said developers, they've already done much more than I could've, but I feel it's only fair to give you some context as to what you'd be getting in to.
That said, this is the prettiest phone of its generation.

[Q] HTC One X can be rooted?

I'm planning to buy a phone, so 'm between this one and Samsung Galaxy S3, my question is, can the HTC One X be rooted? I've heard that latest versions cannot, please confirm this, thanks!
Yes, it can, you can find a guide here and probably a couple others in the same forum.
Even the latest versions? thank a lot!
I do not know about a "latest version". If you're talking about the latest software update, the unlock procedure is provided by HTC themselves, so it does work and it will work on all future updates and (hopefully) devices. However, I might be missing something if it's about a newer version of the device's hardware, so don't take my word for it...
Let's say it's possible in general terms, thanks! BTW, HTC or S3? I need to make a decision tomorrow :S
I have posted in your other topic. Feel free to PM me if you want to continue the discussion
Not rootable on new phones with 2.20... try to find a retailer with old shelf stock. Any ones shipped before august will have the older firmware.

Anyone know when Three UK will release Jelly Bean?

They've been pretty crappy with updates so far, so I'm hoping this won't be too long.

Good question! In case you are on a custom ROM, I have a link for the latest H3G RUU
Just relock bootloader, fastboot, connect to pc and run RUU
Of course nobody knows. It's not even available to unbranded Euro handsets yet

Really feel for you, I just got my email response from 3UK when asked when Jellybean will be available; "We do not have the updated version, it will be released at some point."
Just come from LG optimus 2x and all that saga over ics, moved to a htc one x hoping to be treated better lol only to find yet another ****ty company when it comes to customer support. Very dissapointed to say the least.
Bought the phone unlocked, alas it is still tied to 3 via CID :crying: was hoping this could be altered. Dead end there too.
All the best.
Carrier's are a pile of w#nk with updates. That is all.........
Did you try to read the thread, which is almost on top all the time, regarding JellyBean for HOX?

I do really feel for you too.
You are complaning from the update speed of a company, and you're switching to the other one, which has the biggest software package added on to Android, and you are expecting to get updates quickly.
I do, really do.
Actually Three UK were the first network to release both 1.28 and 2.17. They skipped 1.29 entirely due to radio issues. The main problem was the communication with the customer, it was terrible.
I tweeted them a few weeks back and they said they had the update in testing. But that could have been the bugged version that they didn't release globally.

One X international jelly bean update

Hi,
I have an international unlocked one X rooted and with an unlocked bootloader.
My cid is HTC_001.
I wanted to know when the jellybean update was coming or if there was any news
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Just wait for it, everybody is asking when it's coming....it comes when it comes !
Is the JB update so much a difference for the phone ? No.....you can still make calls , send text messages and play games !
Getting tired of people asking for the update here :banghead:

I'm actually excited to try the update, not so much for JB alone, since I don't think there's any stutter that Butter will fix (because I have none at all) and I won't be using google now, but I've read HTC's browser is much improved. I'm also hoping we'll be able to get a bit more battery life, but I'm not quite sure, since JB generally uses more than ICS.
Should be released before the end of November unless something goes wrong again.

[Q] Debranding

Is it possible to debrand the One X? The reason i ask is because i am stuck on 3 and they are useless!! (bloatware, updates take forever etc)
Sure, but you will not be able to use sense JB roms. (Provided that you haven't received the JB OTA yet of course.)

That's not entirely true, if you flash a custom rom its practically de-branded. You lose all the bloatware crap from your provider !
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Debranding doesn't mean removing bloatware. It means changing the devices recognition as a carrier branded device which for the most part would mean changing your cid to something like HTC__001 so you can flash generic WWE RUU's or supercid 11111111 which means you can pretty much flash anything official. However this is not possible at present
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I'm still learning
Its OK. It's not a term used all that often anymore. To be fair the last time i used it was with my old Nokia n95 where you would change its branding from your carrier to euro1 so you could receive ota updates as soon as they was released
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Ah like that, i was assuming he ment flsshing a rom without bloatware and other crap because he mentioned that in the OP, in terms of software he can debrand it by removing everything his carrier has put in....as far as updates he's depending on the updates the devs give on their custom rom but he will be stuck on his carrier on the contract. Do i understand it right like this ?

One mini has smaller screen than the one x. 4.3" 720p
Sent from my HTC One X
I would still go for the One X. Mainly because of the better camera, processor and the screen size, boomsound isn't necessary for me right now
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk
I would go for one mini, its a newer phone and just better user expirience using it, and if you are not happy, just sell it and buy one x again with some spare money left, no brainer for me.
Just from the POV of software updates, the One Mini is a much better choice. As we all know the HOX has been abandoned.

But only a small bit. In the future, a new version of android will come out, only for it to be impossible to port it to this phone because of its CPU and the lack of kernel sources because Nvidia ditched it.

It's correct, but in past there are much devices, wich are no longer supported so much after HTC kill official update way. And for Users who love the Sense UI (e. g. me) it is better to go to a new phone from HTC to get updates.
BTW: i think it is better to wait a little bit (a few months) with buying a new HTC Phone. If HTC launched new One M8 phone, the old M7 will be cheaper.
