You must use latest kernels
Titanium Kiss latest for sense ROMs is
boot-TK-USB-201212251804.img
Hellboy latest for AOSP-based ROMs is
boot-HELLBOY-201212251747.img

it depends on your ROM and support of the kernel for that ROM (or vice versa ).
i am using tiamat (details in my signature). You need to try diff. kernels and see which one is best & stable for your rom. you can use "ultimate_kernel_cleaning_script_v2_by_lippol94.zip" script before flashing the kernel. you can find the download in xda forum.
Hey guys possibly a very noon question but I'm new to all this, I'm looking to use viperx new Rom on my HTC but really like the faux kernels. How can I convert the kernel (that's if I need to) be be compatible with the Rom?

For the most custom ROMs you have to repack the kernel. However, on ViperX ROM there's no need to repack, just flash the boot.img for the kernel and install the modules in CWM.

Yuo, no need for repack. Just download the ones from the official faux thread and you're ready to go!

If there are any ramdisk tweaks you need a repack. It's usually also stated in the OP if you need repack.

think ManU & Tiamat kernels r for cyanogenmod, latest ManU is in Desire Android Development and just Google Tiamat for his site. Theres probably more because its Cyanogenmod but as far as i know they would be the popular 1s.

Then just flash CM7 over.
I have problems with all other AOSP kernels on stable CM 7.2.0.1, after the flash it simply deletes my APNs and I can't configure them manually. I'll probably try to implement some of them in boot.img and try to flash it like that.
I don't have that problems.
Installed stock CM7 krenel i can say, after testing tiamat, ManU kernel, and for me is i think best stock CM7 kernel..

Hi, I have tbaldens pre nightly ROM installed. Can I just download the nightly via ROM Manager and install it without wiping any caches?

Yes, make a backup first
