For the most custom ROMs you have to repack the kernel. However, on ViperX ROM there's no need to repack, just flash the boot.img for the kernel and install the modules in CWM.

Yuo, no need for repack. Just download the ones from the official faux thread and you're ready to go!

If there are any ramdisk tweaks you need a repack. It's usually also stated in the OP if you need repack.

it depends on your ROM and support of the kernel for that ROM (or vice versa ).
i am using tiamat (details in my signature). You need to try diff. kernels and see which one is best & stable for your rom. you can use "ultimate_kernel_cleaning_script_v2_by_lippol94.zip" script before flashing the kernel. you can find the download in xda forum.
Hi guys, exist a Way for installat a dual boot on the One X?
Inviato dal mio HTC ONE X con Tapatalk 2
No not that i know of !
First we need S-OFF.
and second this is the wrong place to ask it ...pls if you ask something then in Q&A forum not here...or in threads which might be the right ...
There are a few kernels that work on almost all ROMs of a type.
For example, if you repack NCX with the ramdisk that MDeejay posted for the new hboot, that kernel will work on ALL AOSP ROMs.
But someone needs to figure out a way to incorporate dual booting with that...

RD-MIUI (AOSP) won't work on the new hboot :/
You can repack it yourself on nibble.cc/repack
You can get the ramdisk from the OP of the Offical CM10 thread

Cr*p i really like miui
i tried both with viper x 3.3.1 and insertcoin v15.2.0. Every time I try to flash bricked kernel it flashes the kernel and then bootloop. I would really appreciate if someone would give me a zip file of faux kernel. I only find moduls on this site...
Please help I need a kernel.

Currently there are no available custom kernels for the jelly bean base, because htc didnt release the kernel source code yet. All you can use will be the stock htc kernel that is also incorporated inside the rom when you extract it.

There is the custom-stock kernel made by TripNDroid from Tegra3 references and from HOX+ source.
Just reflash the rom to fix the modules and reflash the original boot.img .....

Yeah , and quit flashing ICS kernel onto JB rom , that can lead into some issues, bigger then you think.
Ok got it. Staying with viper x 3.2.2 and waiting for jb kernels to be created. When is htc giving the source to the devs?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
They should release the code about 90 days after the release.....but nobody knows for sure !
Hi all, i flashed my One X to CM 10.1 Nightly, but the battery drain is awfull. I tried to flash it with the franco kernel but that made my phone stuck in BOOT. I heard of a Semaphore kernel, but i cant find one for the One X only for the Nexus 4 and SIII.....any ideas anyone
Only use aosp based kernels, and kernels for JB roms......franco/faux kernels are for ICS based roms ! Not gonna work
Try XM kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136731
Yes xm kernel was the best for me in cm 10.1 roms with battery but with seadrsn rom

What does aosp based mean??
Senseless roms based on pure Google source.
aosp stands for android open source project. Mostly means that there is no HTC sense shell added
So when you are on CM10.1 you need the aosp version of the xm kernel if you wish to try that.

That will be the kernel modules or the boot.IMG you flashed.
I would suggest using the snapshot rather than nightly.

Well i flashed a new rom : RENOVATE 4 with the xm_kernel_241_RENOVATE. It all works fine now.....thnx for the help.
Hi, i'm still new about knowing android and installing custom roms. I recently installed ARHD 31.0 on my HOX and it's awesome! thanks mike. After the first boot, i tried to flash bricked 0.21, but it won't boot. I'm guessing it's a wrong move. So the question is there any kernels for this rom? The dirtier the better
I think not at this moment

Source kernel (first box) is the boot.img that comes with the rom
New kernel (second box) is boot.img of the kernel.
Click upload and go make a sandwich.
You'll get a download link (valid for 3 hours) for your newly repacked boot.img
Download and flash in fastboot, restart into recovery and flash module. Wipe cache and dalvik cache
And enjoy.
