gps starting when receving or making calls

Hi all,i have a strange problem i can't find anywhere how to get rid of. Any time i make a phone call or i receive one,my gps starts and i have to turn if off.i thought truecaller was to blame so i removed it but nothing changed and i can't find nothing in the settings. I'm running revolution HD 5.1.4 on my desire HD. Hoping there's a solution,thanks

it´s an strange issue....
has you tried to re-flash your rom doing full wipe''?maybe seems a radical solution but if you tried to disable it and it restarts... you haven´t more ways...

I am not sure about but I think there is something to do with Mock Locations. The GPS is searching where you are i guess. Did you turned that off?

Or just maybe your wife / husband has installed a root soft in order to spy you.....

Hi there,
TrueCaller doesn't activate the GPS. If you have connected TC to your Twitter account and have location and GPS on however it will use the GPS. But like I said, TC cannot initiate the GPS by itself

So let's make the point...it's not truecaller's fault....my girlfriend barely knows what is a software...xD....my parents also can't do such a thing....xD....i had this issue with AR HD 5.1.3 if i remember right,then i patched to 5.1.4 without full wipe....so i think i'll try flashing 5.1.6 and see what happens

@superstick i forgot: i don't get what you mean but i've turned off gps almost everywhere,moreover it would be strange if it turns on only with calls i think

The Mock Location is not the GPS signal. It is about capturing where you are whenever you are at different places. I guess its nothing to do with that.(I did not used that before, so cant tell. lol)

Oh yes i allow program to track my position but internet only,e not using gps so it shouldn't be that...

I got the same question after upgrading my ROM from 2.2 to 2.3. I tried several ways, and found out that GPS will not be auto launched when you turn off all data services(WIFI, WCDMA).
don't know the root cause yet.

You're talking about ufficial or cooked Rom? Anyway guys i've updated my Rom from 5.1.3 to 5.1.7 also formatting data with ext4 but the issue still exist!! but i've restored my apps and SETTINGS backups so maybe the problem is there...but now i have not time to try formatting again....

Did someone find out something?

No phone ROM?

So, in June will be upgrading my EVO to something new. I would like to flash something that has no phone capabilities whatsoever when it's off contract. Basically become a tablet that I can give to my 3 year old.
I want to make sure he can't accidentally call 911, and also to maximize any space and prevent any annoying error messages due to being deactivated from the network.
Is there anything like that? Or, is there one I can at least strip the phone components out of?

Just remove the phone.apk from system/app with a rooted file manager.
You may also want to remove contacts, contacts sync, messaging, email, etc... All easy enough to do, though it could generate an error on startup though so make a backup first.

Also, there's about 3 other threads addressing this exact same issue/request in this exact same subforum.

I'm assuming people would still want contacts on a tablet.

Why not just pull out the sim card, and put the thing on airplane mode and turn on the wifi?
I use my EVO 4G as something you said. I just don't have a simcard and I have it always on airplane mode (which allows for everything.. wifi, gps, bluetooth, at least under CM7)

A rom that allows to use play without simcard?

Ive never installed a rom know nothing about them other then what they are but I have a at&t 2.3.3 which i would like to use just as portable game unit is it possible with any of the roms?

You dont need a simcard to use the xperia play for whatever purpose it may be used for.

k how does one do that cuase if the simcard is not installed u cant use any function of the phone except emergency calls?
WOW I could of swore on my dogs death that it wouldnt let me do anything without simcard but I checked and u are correct totally functional without simcard minus a few things....thx for being professional and not calling me an idiot

Thats correct you cant have the phone function without the simcard except for phone emergency only (it can only dial for help nothing else).

this is the solution using last ****ing version facebook mesenger works

Well for me it working just fine..Restart your device and clear cache..It should work!

Solution !
This may sound stupid but it worked for me and for so many people who had the same problem:
1 - Turn off your phone
2 - Take out your sim card (yes your sim card)
3 - Turn on your phone and log in to facebook messenger (works right?)
4 - Now turn off you phone again
5 - Insert you sim card and when you turn on your phone again facebook messenger should still work?

Me too i find that really bizzare, what does the sim card or airplane mode have to do with that anyway ? well that's why we love android lol

[Q] One X doesn't allow Skype or Tango calls

I have a friend whose HTC One X doesn't allow them to make any Skype or Tango calls, First thougth it wa video calls but not even regular voice alls
It just hangs up.
Can anyone lend a hand please thanks

Tried that it just never worked
like for some reason no app that allows the calls options seems o work
I've deleted them put them back on same thing

are you sure its not a network problem ? could be blocked by your service provider

Nopes don't think so, cause doesn't seem like it work on WiFi either.
We use different carriers work fine on mine. Will give hers a shot again
