Played with a Friend's International Note 2 recently and was shocked to see the Quadrant Benchmark scores to be above 7081. No root, no custom ROM, Pure Stock N7100. I ran the tests on his phone several times and the average was between 6900 and 7100.
Our T889's can only go up to 6400 and on average, 5900 - 6000.
I know these are just numbers and don't have any significant impact on the phone's performance but,
What gives?
If I may speculate, our phones do have extra crap from T-Mobile that's consuming RAM and clock cycles constantly while the international Note 2 doesn't. That's the best theory is could think of. I ran Quadrant earlier and got ~4200 something on my Note 2 while getting ~5700 something on my T-Mobile SGS3.

FWIW, I am running Jedi Master 8 ROM with SaberKernel 8 on a T-Mo Note 2, and I just got 7008 on Quadrant. I don't know if that's due to crapware being left out of the ROM, or the non-stock kernel, or something else, but at least it demonstrates it's not a hardware limitation.
If you are getting in the range of 4000, that's because you have power-saving mode enabled. Disable that! Lol.
I honestly don't know what T-Mobile services are running in the background, can you please shed some more light on this.
All I see is T-Mobile's My Account always running in the background.
I always have ~470mb of RAM used of 1.75gb when there is nothing active.
Is the kernel that bad in the Carrier Note 2's?
I don't want to root my phone. :crying:
tmobile roms always score lower than the n7105 roms no matter what i did a test
What is our stock cpu speeds?

That was the problem! I guess checking the power-saving settings was an oversight and one that gimped my Note 2. I noticed Quadrant reported my CPU clock speed at 1.1 GHz and I couldn't figure out why until I checked the power-saving settings. Problem solved! :good:
Now I'm getting about ~5800 from quadrant
I have only flashed 3 roms for the last 6 months just became a member. The JDEVIL Roms with no kernel on my phone score around 8500 . Im impressed. I like quads . They may not be 100 percent on real life feel. But you csn kind of use them as a gauge. That OP is a nice guy as well and I like that too
I need to root my phone, lol.
My experience is this...
On stock, I never came across a game that this phone made unplayable by way of graphics, sound or any other phathomable benchmark
On Custom Roms based on my own and others' test all games are just as good, play-wise, but with better battery life and overall phone longevity
Dont get me wrong, some games are just better played with a controller.... if thats a knock on GNII then its also a knock on every other phone made
As far as Xperia, it stock, vs GNII stock, may be better but I know the capability is there with the GNII (emulators will eventually pick up) and if im not mistaken there are already some options available that can bring the GNII very comparable to the Xperia, while also being an overall better PHONE

I just ran it on my stock T-Mobile Note 2 and I got a score of 5671. It's a great score imho, considering I'm all stock and going to stay that way. I just find it crazy how much T-mobile's boat ware lowers our benchmark scores. I find it doesn't effect real time performance in any way. Just that it does mess with benchmark scores. Not really a issue if you ask me.

What would I lose network wise using an International Note 2 on T-Mo's network?
I just flashed Blue Kuban GB27 yesterday. Ever since my download speeds have doubled. Is this just a coincidence? I use to always average 50 KB/sec when using speedtest.net app now I'm consistently getting 100 KB/sec. I didn't flash the modem I've been on gb27 for weeks.

I may be mistaken, but I think BK flashes modem as well. It probably just reflashed it. Try updating your prl and profile, that may help even more.

I'm on sprint phone that's been flashed to VERIZON PREPAID. I've never updated profile and prl because I'm afraid something bad can happen. Can someone with in-depth knowledge on this subject assure me that updating profile + prl will be harmless to my flashed phone?
What would happen? It just resets your profile on the network and pushes a new PRL 'if one is available' to your device.

I'm a huge gaming nut, I game on my pc, xbox360, ps3 and on my android phones. I've noticed that it doesn't take much time for the note 3 and it's gpu/cpu to heat up to the point where it's almost to hot to hold. This wasn't a problem on the note2 and it's exnyos cpu, I'm loving the slimness of the phone but thinking that's also why it gets hot soo fast.
I generally don't play too long, mostly 15-20 minute sessions of dead trigger 2, Asphalt 8 or Riptide 2. Anyone else notice this? I'm thinking maybe when the ZL battery comes thru and the extra bulkiness it will take a bit longer to heat up. That or maybe it's time for companies like Seidio,Otterbox etc to make some liquid cooled phone cases lol

Found this out playing candy crush of all things. Phone got pretty hot in a short period of time.

I suppose it depends on the game but my GN3 doesnt't get too hot playing the two games you mentioned and it's over clocked. I'm on Darthstalker 3.0 with leankernal if that makes any difference.
Sent from my SM-N900T
How long are you playing the games? I'm not even overclocking, I'm on Omega rom with compulsion kernel. It's not a huge deal to me and don't think it happens all the time, could be the amount of apps installed on my phone too..

I'm not playing with the phone charging, matter of fact I just played about 4 missions on dead trigger 2 and it's already starting to get too hot. It's gotta be the snapdragon chip, none of my other phones have ever gotten this hot in soo little time.
Again I haven't overclocked or play while charging ever. This phone needs a water cooling case for reals lol

Remove mpdecision from /system/bin (but just rename it.. Add "00" to the beginning or something) and run with all 4 cores online. You will find you get better battery life and your device will not ramp as much.
This is what I do personally...
Ondemand
Deadline
io_is_busy - 1
up_threshold - 95
sampling_rate - 20000
Stock has up_threshold at 85 or 90 if I'm not mistaken, way too aggressive for a processor of this caliber.
And mpdecision is way too aggressive. I don't need all 4 CPUs spinning up to max when I open my messages app.
Also, edit your /system/etc/init.qcom.post_boot.sh file to have this line it (see picture)

Wow!
Did everything you said in your earlier post and I'm noticing it running way cooler now. Normally after 3-4 missions on dead trigger 2 it's getting pretty hot near the camera when holding it in landscape mode, now it just seems to idle normally.
So before I tweaked my system root and set cpu settings was it only utilizing 1 or 2 cores thus stressing more and making the snapdragon soc run hotter? These games are very graphic intensive and could use extra cores running to keep everything running more smoothly and cooler (which you have now achieved developmrntbro!!)
I advise anyone experiencing what I was dealing with to do the same and be amazed how much better it runs now, thanks again for the knowledge :good:

Trying this out as well. I don't game, but I do a lot of downloading & streaming, and the phone does tend to get very hot during. I did this about an hour ago, I'm torrenting and so far it's still not hot and the battery isn't flying out the window like it usually would be. Nice!
wow this sounds a really good idea. did anyone just include this mod directly in their rom?
So if we have 4 cores why not take advantage of all 4 from the get go instead of having to do this mod?

My Note 3 doesn't get hot like yours, unless I play a game such as Madden 25 over a 40 minute period, then it's moderately hot, nothing compared to my previous phones, and that list includes the Note 2. I love everything about this Note 3 except the camera, it has a hard time focusing on some things close up, and sometimes at a distance too, I resent the camera, I did see in another thread that I am not the only one with this problem, only problem is I did not wait for the root de la vega or else I would've ordered a replacement already.........

My note 3 is still right out of the box, (my second I should mention I returned the 1st) first thing I noticed was the buggy god it wouldn't lock on and stick, it would just jump around my general area. Second is the LTE speed, now before the note 3 I got the s4 and on a torrent download I would get 2.2mbs my note 3 highest speed on the same torrent wasn't able to get above 1.1 mbp (this is with full LTE network bars NOT 4G ((with out LTE that u sometimes get)).) some people have had these problems from what i've seen in the forums.
I myself had a buggy gps which fixed after i flashed darkstalker rom
I havn't checked on the Torrent problem in a while but i think it was unresolved and some people just get slow speeds with torrents only.
My cousin also had this problem so we went to a shop and let the tech fix it. He's afraid to fix it by himself hehe
None of my Samsung phones have had great gps.

Torrent downloading is different at different times, depends on the ratio, if you're complaining about 1.1mb download speed, then you should kill yourself
I have weaker signal than my note 2-
and buggy gps... it likes to just make the icon disappear and then 10 seconds later comes back sometimes it does it over and over and over others it decides to work...

You must be retarded the exact same torrent on the exact same network in the exact same location on the exact time of day with the exact type of service bars and one is going twice as fast as the other ? And no I'm complaining about paying 700 bucks for a phone and 200 bucks for a network that isn't working right and not giving me the speeds I want so no I won't kill my self I'd think any one would do the same and try to correct the issue

Just to to enlighten your moronic retarded self, torrents speeds do with alot more then "ratio" there are legions of factors that effect torrent speed and iv tweaked all of them and still a torrent with 10000 seeds and 500 leaches won't go above 20kbps now while my s4 and s3 are going well above 1.1 mbps there is something wrong with the note 3 I simple want to know if there is a way to fix it

I have been noticing that on all AOSP derived ROMs since I got the phone. I've also noticed that I absolutely can not use any governor except Interactive. Changing governors is a guaranteed lockup within 10 minutes of the phone going to sleep.
I've just been setting min to 300 and ignoring that it seems to peg itself at whatever I have the max set to. My battery life is still very good, so, I'm not entirely sure what is actually going on.
I don't have any lockup issues, but I have noticed Core 1 and Core 4 both are used pretty much in sync. I have a CPU gauge in my status bar, and on 4.3 Core 1 would alway be active the most. Now on 4.4.2 I see Core 1 and Core 4 both used about the same, and at the same times. All four get going pretty good faster now too. It's having no effect on my battery, but the phone is running much smoother overall, so I'm very happy with it.
My cpus are all over the place...
