Hello,
First of all I'm new to this forum so Hello! second of all I'm also new to rooting and custom ROM's.
So today after 3 days of trying to unlock my HTC One X by htcdev.com i finally submitted my identifier token and i got the Unlock_code.bin
I downloaded Android Revolution HD 18.1, I also downloaded the CWM v5.8.4.0 and installed it on my phone.
After that i followed the instructions on how to install the Revolution HD 18.1, after doing all the steps on my phone it told me it was succesfully installed and i had to reboot the system. So i did it, then the part comes where i'm getting stuck. It was rebooting my htc , and it wouldn't go further then the opening screen HTC quietly brilliant it was stuck there. trying to put my phone on and off and on and off, same problem. Now i can only go in the bootloader menu and in recovery menu and thats it.
I did a lot of research on how to fix my problem, unfortunally nothing helped. (Maybe cuz I'm a noob and new to this)
Can someone please help me with this, i've been trying it all day now and i'm giving up the hope.
Some information at the hboot menu of my HTC one X

I'm still on stock rom and recovery, but I've read much... Did you flashed the correct boot.img?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
You are on the wrong hboot, there is a thread were the steps required to upgrade youre hboot are explained. For most jb roms hboot 1.31 or higher is required.

Yes i just tried to flash the correct boot.img and still my phone gets stuck at the HTC quietly brilliant screen.
Boot.img is the kernel wich goes with the rom. Hboot is your Bootloader version. In the first post of your rom thread is a link wich explaines hoe to upgrade your hboot.

please tell me you did a nandoid backup of the stock rom ??? and why didnt you wait for the JB update ? what is your version-main and CID
Fastboot oem readcid
Fastboot getvar version-main
with that we can also check for a unofficial firmware update !

For so far i know i did a nandoid backup, because the tutorial told me to do a backup before flashing the custom ROM, so i did, but when i tried to restore a backup i couldnt find anything..
CID: HTC_E11
Version-Main: 2.17.401.2
Untill now i diddnt do anything yet, so shall i try and update my hboot to 1.31+, or should I wait for the comments here?

Is there a folder on the sdcard called Clockworkmod ?
And if you send me a teamviewer login by PM i can watch with you and do it in dutch !
If you restore the original nandroid you can update right away to JB, its waiting for you (HTC__E11)
Yes there is a map called clockworkmod

Then you can restore it,
Copy the boot.img from the nandroid backup and flash it with fastboot commands
Then do a full wipe in recovery, all caches, dalvik cache, system, data .....
Then press backup nd restore in the recovery and restore ....then restore the backup and boot it up. When it works you need to flash back the stock recovery

After this you are ready to update to JB !
Problem solved, updated to JB ....

Hi guys just some help regarding wanting the new CM 10 rom but it won't let me flash as I have hboot 1.28 and yes I have heard some people haven't made it to work and some have. It is because I used the new Android Revolution HD 1.11 and I know that hboot 1.28 was required so anyways I wanna switch to CM 10 and previously it worked because I had hboot version 1.12. Now when I flash the boot.img given my CM 10 developers it will just keep restarting or stay in the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen. I downloaded a boot image for hboot 1.28 that was in the forums for CM 10 but still no luck. Am I missing something or what. Also a Final question if I put my phone back to the stock RUU which is given by Football will my hboot be restored to the previous version and NOT 1.28. I'm sorry I'm such a noob I haven't checked yet but don't want to waste my time doing it if it doesn't. Thanks a lot of help will be appreciated
HBoot downgrade is not possible unless you have s-off. Older RUU's won't work
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I guess the new boot.img you mentioned is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32486421&postcount=7308
That does work with CM10 and hboot 1.28. Did you erase the cache after you flashed the boot.img? fastboot erase cache

I have checked everywhere in bootloader to see if I have s-off but cant find it. Where is it?
And I believe i did erase the cache in fastboot but ill give it another whirl to see if will work.

It's unlikely that you have S-OFF, but go into the bootloader screen and the you will see either SHIP S-ON or SHIP S-OFF.
Thanks guys for your help. Man I'm such a nut. And yes fastboot erase cache worked and I have S-ON. Why is it so important for people to have S-OFF can someone explain me. :victory:

Well, for one thing you would just be able to flash the entire ROM including boot.img just by flashing the ROM .zip file from recovery. But with S-ON, recovery is not able to write the boot.img, that can only be done from the bootloader.
Also, if you have S-OFF you can downgrade your hboot. Currently there is a big to do about hboot 1.28, but if you install that and do not have S-OFF you can not go back to a lower numbered hboot.
And people don't agree with the warranty terms of HTC and unlocking, so would like to install custom ROMs and then hide that from HTC when it's convenient (warranty claim).
That's what i was looking for! Finally found it
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I had the same problem. Boot.img is not being flashed correctly when you are installing your rom. I found boot.img inside the rom .zip file and just extracted it separately.

what are the procedures that you're doing to install a custom rom? i guess you installed JB over the ICS HBOOT and that's why your phone isn't bootig
Thinking the same thing
Or forget to do a factory reset and wiping all caches in recovery ..... and do a full wipe for sure !
I feel your pain bud i am in the same situation white screen of death. I found a site which says how to restore the phones rom back to it was, it requires the original RUU file. I was hoping someone could help and supply that as i cant find one anywhere that doesnt cost.

If you manage to fail even after following his links do exacttly as i write in here.
1. go to bootloader and hit fastboot option
2. whatever you're using for flashing type this: fastboot erase cache
3. fastboot flash boot boot.img (rename boot img that comes with the rom to *boot* if thats not the name of the boot img )
4. fastboot erase cache
5. disconect the phone from USB and go to the recovery
6. wipe data/factory reset
7. wipe cache
8. mounts & storage format system , data , cache
9. go to advanced and wipe dalvic cache also battery stats (just in case that your battery % getts all weird)
10. flash the rom of your choice (make sure it's an ICS ROM since your cid doesn't support JB as of yet)
11. restart and enjoy the rom.
Hope this helps.

Also do a fastboot erase cache and from recovery a factory reset. There is some old data causing the bootloops. Try the ICS viper Rom, had the same issue and this one worked well. As for installing flash boot.img first,ROM only afterwards.

pls guide me about the problem that this phone is having secondly pls tell me the correct Stock RUU for reverting back to the stock rom which i hope would solve the problem.

1. do i need to downgrade the hboot to install stock rom
2. how many digits of the version-main number should match with the RUU ... like i ve found one like (RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed (1).exe)
is it ok for my device???
3. anyother especial precaution i should take before attempting this procedure
thanks
To get CID, try
fastboot oem readcid
The RUU you posted is the latest for '401, I'm not sure why your build number of 619 is newer. Anyway that RUU comes with hboot 1.39 so it should install, although you may need to flash that firmware manually before the RUU.
Thanks for guiding me. I didn't understand what I need to flash manually before installing RUU? Plz elaborate as m noob to all these things.
Sent from my EndeavorU using xda app-developers app
To run a ruu you only have to lock the bootloader, you don't have to flash anything
Just put the phone in fastboot usb mode and do the command from the fadtboot folder on pc
Fastboot oem lock
After that leave the phone in fastboot usb mode and run the ruu from pc WITH admin rights !
If it fails you have to flash the firmware first like Ben said
I ve just reconfirmed the cid, its 11111111
I think its not carier locked as there is NO logo of any companies.
Sent from my EndeavorU using xda app-developers app
Thanks Mr Hofs
Plz tell me the RUU that I mentioned in first post is okay for my device?
N what does it mean to flash firmware manually before installing RUU?
Sent from my HTC one x using xda app-developers app
Well it might have to do something with the supercid you have ! But i think the ruu will work fine, charge the batt to full if you can. Always the best to start with a full batt so if you run into an error its easy to fix.....
Somewhere I read that unbranded phone when they are unlocked they show their cid like this one.
Ok I should now relock the bootloader with commands in fastboot and straightaway go to install this RUU? Is this a logical sequence now for me?
Sent from my EndeavorU using xda app-developers app
Yes just like i posted earlier ..... The ruu flashes back the stock recovery and boot.img.....
In case of failure like you said I need to flash firmware manually before installing RUU. What does that mean? Plz pardon me if its a stupid question as I am new at all this stuff.
Sent from my EndeavorU using xda app-developers app
Well that's Mr Pope's expertise if i am not mistaken, but if i get it right you have to flash a European 1.39 hboot firmware and after that the ruu again. But i think that it is not necessary, the only way we find out is to try
More i read greater are confusions
Do I need to extract stock recovery and stock boot.img from RUU and flash them before actually running RUU. As earlier mentioned steps are supposed to be done before re-locking and RUU has to be installed after re-locking.?
Sent from my EndeavorU using xda app-developers app
No just relock the bootloader and run the ruu from pc WITH admin rights and with the phone in fastboot usb mode
Ok thanks Mr Hofs I ll give it a try and let you know.

you have to unpack the nandroid backup to the right folder on the sdcard (its in the OP of the link i sent you) then unfold the folders and check in the files of the nandroid backup. the boot.img is in there
Yeah i just put on TWRP instead of CWM. What are the commands to flash boot.img?
Well it depends on the nandroid backup if you need twrp or cwm !
Of the nandroid backup contains a boot.img file you need cwm, if it has a boot.emmc.won file you need twrp recovery !
Fasboot flash boot boot.img
or
Fastboot flash boot boot.emmc.win
Thanks for all of your help I ended up just throwing on Android Revolution HD and sticking with TWRP recovery. I guess CWM doesn't like my phone for some reason.

I'm having quite the problem here. I'm currently stuck at the boot screen "quietly brilliant", but I am able to go to bootloader and recovery. I'm aware of the fact that I need to install a RUU, but I haven't yet been able to find the one I need. Before all this I couldn't use my touchscreen so I'm therefor unable to use twrp-recovery and only CWM. I've been reading for the past two days, even this http://is.gd/jKZVUH, couldn't solve my problems. My phones information is:
unlocked
Model: HTC One X
Enddeavoru PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.39.0000
CPLD-None
MICROP-None
RADIO-5.1204.162A.29
eMMC-bootmode: disabled
CPU-bootmode: disabled
HW Secure boot: enabled
MODEM PATH: OFF

as your touch is not working u can try CWM without touch support that only works with the volume keys and power button and try downloading a nadroid backup of ur version main 3.20.401.1 and restore it in CWM maybe that might help ur phone to boot up

Ok so I tried to restore this nandroid http://is.gd/cGbRKK but it didn't work. Still stuck at the "htc, quietly brilliant" screen. I think the only solution is to install an RUU, but I can't find the right one. Any suggestion?

Have tried a RUU, which was adressed to this CID, but it failed to install, I don't know if it was because the Radio didn't completely match? you are the man! HTC_Y13

BTW, if it's unlocked, why don't just simple install a costum rom from recovery?

it does start the installation, but then it fails. I've read in the readme (doh) and found, even though I checked versions before downloading, that it isn't the right one for my device... How can I determine which one is right for my device?

If it said APX than you have hardware issues
Go to varranty.
If your model from '12 may. you have HTC varranty for this problem. Just make sure you have the void sticker

yeah, sorry. I don't really understand your lst post
So, now, just find the RUU which is 100% existing to your CID, soory but I can't help in it
What are you guys up to ??? Sorry to say but....this thread is a real mess !
Do this all step by step :
Flash this recovery and touch will work :
http://db.tt/t6RTcTwK
Then flash the boot.img from the 3.20 nandroid backup !
Then enter the recovery and do this :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts&storage - format cache,data,system
Then restore the nandroid backup via the backup menu and reboot ! If the nandroid doesn't work, download a new one. You can use any 3.20.401 backup (wwe cid is not important)
The nandroid backup folder must look similar to this :
Clockworkmod\backup\date&time folder\backup files
You can't run a ruu because it does not exist for 3.20.401. A 3.14 ruu doesn't work because we don't have S-off (no downgrade of the hboot possible)
Installing a 2.17 nandroid or rom won't work either because the official 3.20 base has updated touchpanel drivers !
Hope this helps.
This man is a god
