Hi guys just some help regarding wanting the new CM 10 rom but it won't let me flash as I have hboot 1.28 and yes I have heard some people haven't made it to work and some have. It is because I used the new Android Revolution HD 1.11 and I know that hboot 1.28 was required so anyways I wanna switch to CM 10 and previously it worked because I had hboot version 1.12. Now when I flash the boot.img given my CM 10 developers it will just keep restarting or stay in the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen. I downloaded a boot image for hboot 1.28 that was in the forums for CM 10 but still no luck. Am I missing something or what. Also a Final question if I put my phone back to the stock RUU which is given by Football will my hboot be restored to the previous version and NOT 1.28. I'm sorry I'm such a noob I haven't checked yet but don't want to waste my time doing it if it doesn't. Thanks a lot of help will be appreciated
HBoot downgrade is not possible unless you have s-off. Older RUU's won't work

I guess the new boot.img you mentioned is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32486421&postcount=7308
That does work with CM10 and hboot 1.28. Did you erase the cache after you flashed the boot.img? fastboot erase cache

I have checked everywhere in bootloader to see if I have s-off but cant find it. Where is it?
And I believe i did erase the cache in fastboot but ill give it another whirl to see if will work.

It's unlikely that you have S-OFF, but go into the bootloader screen and the you will see either SHIP S-ON or SHIP S-OFF.
Thanks guys for your help. Man I'm such a nut. And yes fastboot erase cache worked and I have S-ON. Why is it so important for people to have S-OFF can someone explain me. :victory:

Well, for one thing you would just be able to flash the entire ROM including boot.img just by flashing the ROM .zip file from recovery. But with S-ON, recovery is not able to write the boot.img, that can only be done from the bootloader.
Also, if you have S-OFF you can downgrade your hboot. Currently there is a big to do about hboot 1.28, but if you install that and do not have S-OFF you can not go back to a lower numbered hboot.
And people don't agree with the warranty terms of HTC and unlocking, so would like to install custom ROMs and then hide that from HTC when it's convenient (warranty claim).
That's what i was looking for! Finally found it

I had the same problem. Boot.img is not being flashed correctly when you are installing your rom. I found boot.img inside the rom .zip file and just extracted it separately.
Instructions on how to flash boot.img are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270

Flashing HBOOT through recovery when you're S-OFF? Are you on drugs?!
For the record there is a way to flash hboot tables via recovery but its the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Anyone who did it would definitely need to talk to frank

but from the thread of rmd 1.0.3.4 that said it can directly flash xxx.cm7.img hboot table from recovery .Am I wrong?
Even if you could flash it in recovery I strongly recommend using fastboot as it is alot safer
No you are not wrong. But I am also of the opinion that fastboot is much safer.

I recently bought a Desire (A8183) and it came with HBOOT 0.75.0000 and I am trying to get S-OFF on it. I tried using AlphaRev and it came up with an error in step 3. How do I overcome this?
The phone still works fine.

1st: Wrong topic, you should post it in Q&A.
2nd: Have you flashed any custom ROM??? If so, thats why you cannot S-OFF it, try any near-to-stock, froyo rooted rom and then try again, this will do the trick
Cheers

Oops, wrong subforum, didn't realise.
Yes I'm running a custom ROM I'll try a Froyo-based ROM and see if that helps.
It's a shame that Revolutionary doesn't support this version of HBOOT, is there any way of 'tricking' Revolutionary to S-OFF the 0.75 HBOOT?

Moving to Q&A
You can always update bootloader... if you have a goldcard then put the attached file in the root of your sd-card, and then boot into bootloader and wait for it do do it's thing.. when it prompts you select yes. This will update your bootloader to version 0.93.1002
You shouldn't lose any data, but do make a backup of the ROM in recovery in case you get a bootloop.
Then run Revolutionary.

I downloaded the file and put it on the root sdcard... Bootloader seemed to just skip over the file though.
Do I need to change the text file in the zip to my CID or anything else? It doesn't like it
you need a goldcard, so it ignores the CID.. or actually.. what network are you on?
EDIT: Just noticed lol
Wait I'm downloading a Telstra RUU and I'll give you a new PB99IMG
try this. If not, then you can always use the RUU to do a full update, and then S-OFF and flash a custom ROM.
Thanks I'll give it a try.
I have four microSD cards at home and I've tried gold carding all of them... I don't know how successful I was cos I couldn't do what I wanted on the Desire HD

try the goldcard tutorial I posted.
Okay, well I'm gonna get to sleep now but I'll give you some advice before you go.
If you can't update the bootloader with that, I'd suggest backing up your ROM (if you havent done so already), flashing the RUU to bring it up to the latest bootloader version, and then using revolutionary.
Once you've S-OFF'd with revo. Use android flasher to flash recovery (Note: your backup will not work if you do not flash the same version of recovery) and then do a full wipe and flash a ROM of your choice.
Would you happen to know where I can get the original Telstra RUU from? I think that might be my best bet.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks - this looks like it worked now HBOOT 0.93.0001, running revolutionary now.
Is there any benefit in upgrading HBOOT at all? What does 1.02.0001 offer?
Hboot 1.xxxx is the stock hboot for gingerbread. So it offers you nothing. By flashing a hboot like cm7 (most roms fit in this hboot), you get much more space for installing apps, because its /data partition is much bigger.

try my guide. Since you're on cm7r2 hboot remember to flash bravo stock before you use the RUU
Essentially, all you can do is fastboot flash hboot downgrade.img then RUU again.

Hello,
First of all I'm new to this forum so Hello! second of all I'm also new to rooting and custom ROM's.
So today after 3 days of trying to unlock my HTC One X by htcdev.com i finally submitted my identifier token and i got the Unlock_code.bin
I downloaded Android Revolution HD 18.1, I also downloaded the CWM v5.8.4.0 and installed it on my phone.
After that i followed the instructions on how to install the Revolution HD 18.1, after doing all the steps on my phone it told me it was succesfully installed and i had to reboot the system. So i did it, then the part comes where i'm getting stuck. It was rebooting my htc , and it wouldn't go further then the opening screen HTC quietly brilliant it was stuck there. trying to put my phone on and off and on and off, same problem. Now i can only go in the bootloader menu and in recovery menu and thats it.
I did a lot of research on how to fix my problem, unfortunally nothing helped. (Maybe cuz I'm a noob and new to this)
Can someone please help me with this, i've been trying it all day now and i'm giving up the hope.
Some information at the hboot menu of my HTC one X

Yes i just tried to flash the correct boot.img and still my phone gets stuck at the HTC quietly brilliant screen.
Boot.img is the kernel wich goes with the rom. Hboot is your Bootloader version. In the first post of your rom thread is a link wich explaines hoe to upgrade your hboot.

Is there a folder on the sdcard called Clockworkmod ?
And if you send me a teamviewer login by PM i can watch with you and do it in dutch !
If you restore the original nandroid you can update right away to JB, its waiting for you (HTC__E11)

Then you can restore it,
Copy the boot.img from the nandroid backup and flash it with fastboot commands
Then do a full wipe in recovery, all caches, dalvik cache, system, data .....
Then press backup nd restore in the recovery and restore ....then restore the backup and boot it up. When it works you need to flash back the stock recovery

After this you are ready to update to JB !
