I ordered a used HTC One X and it arrived today, needed to get a micro sim for it so i bought it, however whenever I tried to enter the sim unlock code on start up it kept saying request unsuccessful. After searching on this forum I found that the problem was because the phone had already been flashed on cyanogenmod 10, I was told that I would have to flash to a 'sense' rom for me to be able to unlock the sim. Having done this now I have managed to possibly brick my phone.
It gets passed the HTC logo and the jellybean loading screen keeps looping (jellybeans floating around screen). I downloaded the all-in-one kit and tried flashing stock recovery and kernal, and it managed to get past the booting screen to a screen showing that android is updating. however once it got to updating the last app it got stuck again. since then i havent managed to get back on that screen, just a continuous bootloop.
the phone originally was on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2, with cyanogenmod 10(i think it was 10)
I tried flashing it to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546970

"If you have stock recovery
Download a Custom Recovery
Then flash it with the command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-endeavoru.img
Now you can flash a new ROM or nandroid backup"
now i cant even get to recovery. trying to flash recovery from all-in-one kit and it just says "waiting for device" now

I re-installed HTC Sync and managed to get connected to fastboot again
the version is 1.29.061.11
ive also managed to get CWM recovery working again
Here is the link to the ruu you need
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/securek...Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_260736_signed.exe
Install :
Put the phone in fastboot usb mode and lock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Keep the phone in fastboot usb mode and right click the ruu on the pc and run it with admin rights !
It will bring back the phone to full stock and you will also be able to update the phone to software 2.17 ICS and after that to software 3.14 JB
Note : it will wipe the whole phone so back up stuff if needed
I managed to get it working in the end by doing that same method, took me forever to find the right ruu!
Thanks for your help :good:
Hey guys! It seems I've run into the same problem but unfortunately this fix is not applicable to me because my hboot is 3.16, which means there is no RUU available for my device! Can anyone help me??

Hi guys, I got my One X stuck in a boot loop so figured best method to solve this would be to download and reflash with the RUU however I'm unable to do this as every time I try I get a USB connection error 170. I've got the device in fastboot mode and have tried on several PC's (running win 7 and xp) with the same error produced each time. I tried manually flashing the system.img using fastboot but this also throws an error (FAILED (remote: (00000006))) so I've no idea how to get the device back into a working state. Can anyone help?
Did you do the bootloader unlock before this ?
If yes, you need to relock the bootloader before flashing the RUU
- fastboot oem lock
- flash RUU
Make sure you have the right RUU for your phone.

I'm also getting this error. But I'm using a Windows 7 in VirtualBox in Ubuntu Raring.
I'm wondering if VirtualBox has anything to do with the error. Anyway, I thought that it needs to be in Fastboot mode. Not in hboot mode. And RUU simply says to turn on the phone- not fastboot or hboot.
If I really really want to do a super duper factory reset. What should I do? I'm on ARHD 18.2 and hboot 1.39. 3.14.401.31 5.1204.162.29
Back to basic as far as i can...
I have issues with my wifi, I have to restart the wifi after awhile. My screen behave strange and in non responsive from time to time. The battery drains in like 8 hours, earlier it was ok for like 36 hours, that was i think when I used hboot 1.31. All this errors appeared when I went for hboot 1.39 I think.
I understand that downgrading hboot is not possible. But everything else?!?
Thanks for assisting.
Run a RUU for a super duper factory reset ruu.androidfiles.org
I guess you need to do the fastboot command
Fastboot getvar version-main
I think that the main version posted by henrik is from the custom rom that is based on 3.14.401.....
RUU failed.
Shoud I do anything pre RUU?
Fastboot something? Relock?
Yes the bootloader needs to be relocked. And you have to run the ruu with administrator rights. And keep the phone in the bootloader/fastboot usb mode
Are you sure you got the right ruu. Did you do
Fastboot getvar version-main
And did it came up with the same number you posted in the first post ?

Yes same number.
When i lock it it will only boot to bootloader. To run RUU I need to get in to the phone.
Should I do anyting else in fastboot?
Regards

You can run the ruu in fastboot mode too.
Yeah like i said in my previous post
Thanks allot, now i'm back to scratch. The issues with the touchpanel is still there, the top part is not consistent sometime it works and sometime it doesn't. We will see if the batterylife is better.
Thanks again.

I appreciate the support!
I have been trying so many things and getting very much confused with Hboot, Fastboot.
Honestly been on both screen and do not see much difference.
If you do not mind suggesting steps and I will try them out and will share what I experience.

Then you're not in fastboot. You get to fastboot by going to hboot (reboot while holding power and volume-down), navigating to "fastboot" with the power buttons, and selecting it with the power button. Also, again, the OP seems to imply that your bootloader isn't unlocked. If it is, hboot would say so at the top.

FASTBOOT USB
the phone is stuck on the green htc logo with a white background
my computer no longer shows a folder for the phone when i plug in usb (im certain that i made a mistake by trying a factory reset using the hboot screen after this occured) which would undoubtedly remove usb debugging. and set to default charge only setting
i can use vol dwn + pwr to go into bootloader screen (obviously)
I tried using 2 different RUU's (both labeled HTC Android Phone ROM Utility 1.0.3.2011) because that seemed to help others
It progresses to install ruu. Phone shows black background and htc logo in grey but goes no further, just hangs like that forever, when i unplug usb at that point the grey logo disappears and it shows that ruu failed! in orange colors
the rom update utility shows error 155:unknown error
then : The ROM Utility cannot update your android phone
Please get the correct ROM update utility and try again
the htcdev site only shows one utility for htc desire hd (RUU_HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade (Gingerbread))
i also tried using (RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed)
typing adb devices in cmd prompt shows no devices listed using sdk
the ruu had previously listed image version 2.47.502.7
it updated to image version 2.52.0.0 before i used htcdev to unlock it
now it tries to upgrade from 2.52 to 3.12.405.1 but won't
i followed the steps in this thread
"[how to]unlock inspire build 3.20.502.52 with htcdev in preparation to use AAHK" (you have to google it cus forum wont allow me to post url)
i didnt notice the red warning about this post being outdated OR that its a method for a different build It was 3am! and i was tired
it seemed to work fine just after the unlock in step 2
but i started having issues after i finished step 3
also if flashing an image file onto the SD card is the only route then how is that possible if my pc doesnt have access to the files
it only makes a sound when i plug it in
yes im a noob
please help
i believe that this is fixable since i read a comment that any htcdev unlocked phone is fixable...fingers crossed
is this a soft brick?
how do fix this so i can root this phone
and what method is (safest) best for rooting?
Your bootloader is already unlocked. Flash a custom recovery through fastboot and flash a ROM from there.

Hi guys...
i desperately in need of help. i am in stock rom and i wanted to root my HTC and i did unlocked using HTC dev method. and installed CWM recovery. it worked fine for about 6 months (plz note i never flashed any custom rom, just unlocked with the stock rom)
but now suddenly my sim card is not detected. when i go to settings the flight mode says 'turning off' and it never turns off...and hence my sim not working. so i decided to reinstall stock RUU but it says wrong RUU and failed.

i tried flashing stock recovery and relock the mobile and then RUU but it fails.now when i searched in internet i came to know that i need to down grade hboot 1.18 since no RUU is available for this version and for doing so i need to do S-OFF. i tried rum runner but it ended up in failed to update error. so plz help me. :crying:
I want to know why the radio is not working and also how to revert back to stock RUU.?
P.S :i have a doubt on how it happened-last week i updated SuperSU and on recovery menu in Hboot it showed me warning that " Rom will flash stock recovery, proceed to fix.? " i gave no...i am not sure but i thing it may be the reason because i havent done anything new since i rooted my mobile.
take a backup with CWM recovery
bro before doing anything to stock rom pls backup through CWM recovery
1st of all, to find a compatible RUU for your phone the hboot is irelevant, you need to figure out what's your CID. There is a CID application on play store that will tell you what you need: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tritonsoft.cidgetter&hl=ro
2nd from what i understood in your post you are still able to use the ROM somewhat, try to activate ADB in developer settings and reboot the phone through adb command. you will need to install android SDK and update your envoirnment variables in windows. you can lookup a tutorial on google about how to do that or if you can't find it you can PM me and i can give you some instructions.
it's very important to find a way to reboot your phone in bootloader because in order to reflash a RUU you need to relock your bootloader and to flash back the stock recovery.
it does not sound to me like your phone will be hard to fix (i had a lot worse and still managed to fix it ^^)
good luck with these steps, see if you can get any results and update here, we'll figure something out
cheers
Hi,
I have flashed the hboot-eng.mg in an attempt to get s-off onto my htc desire hd, and now it wont boot at all, no signs of life. The battery has died though, and now if i plug it in to my windows computer I can use ADB, but I cannot get into fastboot or hboot. I need help getting back to stock hboot. Before getting bricked, it was s-on, unlocked bootloader, running cyangenmod 12 with twrp 2.8.7.0. Any help would be much appreciated
PS I am new to XDA forums, this is my frist post
If you still have access to adb shell you could try adb command to get you to fastboot or RUU mode.
So practically you could flash a normal updated hboot and get full s-off through your rom by unlocking your bootloader with htc_devs way.
I have answered before how to flash a 2.00.0029 hboot and unlock your device here.
You can also chexk here and here how to S-OFF your device after hboot unlock.
