For some reason, this morning, my headphones messed up and sounded as if the headphones were having connection problems with the jack. It is like that for all headphones and earphones I have tried, and I have tried at least 5. My speaker still works, and it is not the music file. The headphones are plugged in completely, and I have no clue on what to do. I'm running the MIUI 2.3.16 Beta 1 with Nyan Colonel Kernel.. I tried to chat with a Sprint representative but she was no help and told me to take it in to a store.
So my three questions are: 1) Has anyone else faced this problem or does anyone have a solution to my problem? 2) If I take it into a store for a hardware problem, will I still have to unroot my phone before I do? 3) If I backup my phone using nandroid before I unroot, will I be able to restore it after I root it once more after I fix it?
Fast answer would be appreciated. Thank you!

Make a nandroid and you can restore it after re-rooting, go back to full stock because sometimes the reps will refuse to work with a rooted phone.

Yep. But when you restore your nandroid, you will have to flash a MTD ROM first to convert you back to MTD, then restore your nandroid.
1) create nandroid backup
2) odin to EL30 (re-partition - gets you to BML)
3) verify problem is still there
4) take out the SD card and leave it at home (or clear all remnants of rooting)
5) get phone fixed
6) flash CWM through odin
7) flash MIUI (or CleanGB MTD, CM7, CM9, any MTD ROM)
8) restore nandroid
Now you are right back where you started but a truly hardware problem is fixed.

How to remove Beats audio ?
As far as I know, you need to edit build.prop. Tough stuff cuz I couldnt get Xloud off my phone even after I tried every other solution on the internet. I'd suggest you flash a ROM without beats.
nope...beats audio doesn't involve build.prop modification. the easiest way, reinstall your rom. if you remember all files installed to your system, you can delete all of them manually. be carefull since it may brick your phone. don't remove the native file of your system.
I installed Beats Audio on my DXLA1 Firmware , I Just recently downgraded to DXKK4 Firmware last night , Does it mean the Beats audio is already removed ?
yup...its gone
The only way to remove beats or xloud is by flashing a new rom
Never try to remove it manually coz when you flashed, it replaced some sound processing binaries with it's own ones, removing those will make your rom unable to process sound..

Hello All,
Well, after scouring the internet for a solution, I am back here again with the problem still there. So plz don't start with the "do you know abt google ?" or "do a thorough search before u come here" comments.
PROBLEM: Until 2 days ago I was on ARHD 6.32 with NoSense++ 1.6 script using Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M. I had been using this setup for at least 6 months. Everything was fine & I've never had this earpiece problem before with ANY rom. Also, if it helps, I had installed the Beats Installer (I hope that din't mess up my earpiece???). Then 2 days ago I was using Viber (I use it regularly) but the sound in the earpiece was rather loud & distorted & it sounded as if the sound were tearing through the speaker. I don't mean that literally, I'm just describing how it sounded. However, when I turn the speakerphone on, I can hear the person at the other end clearly.
WHAT I DID: I thought ok maybe I need to do a full wipe & it'll b fixed but I also wanted to try out the new ICS & JellyBean roms. After doing a full wipe I flashed the ICS rom by existz (amazing rom) but the earpiece problem was still still there. So then after doing a full wipe, I flashed the IceColdSandwich rom by Lord ClockAN (another amazing rom) but the earpiece problem remained. Then after performing yet another full wipe, I flashed the JellyBean- JellyTime rom (lovely rom). Then I installed the latest radio by pushing it through adb (Radio_12.68.60.29U_26.16.04.09_M) & did a reboot. Earpiece problem remains. So finally I flashed SuperWipe by Mike1986 then ARHD 7.04, NoSense++ 1.6 script, Friendstream remover then performed a reboot. Loving this rom btw. But the earpiece problem remains. Someone in the ARHD thread advised me to remove all voip apps as he replaced the earpiece in his phone but the problem returned & din't go away until he had removed ALL voip apps on his DHD. No VoIP apps r installed on my DHD as it's a fresh install...
FINAL CONCLUSION: Problem is STILL there, I've tried everything I possibly could Does this mean I need a new earpiece ?
Advice would be much appreciated... Thanks everyone....
I have same problem, I searched every whwere to find :
Radio_12.68.60.29U_26.16.04.09_M
Pls advise the link
Thanks
Have you tried completely wiping the SD card as well as doing a full wipe of everything else? Sometimes things on the SD card can cause strange issues. I've had it happen to me. If that doesn't work you may want to reverse to s on and wipe SD and install stock ruu. If problem is still there at complete stock then its probably hardware.

Hey mate,
thanks a lot... By wipe du mean just format it after backing up the SD card ? Also, if I backup the backups of various apps e.g. settings, contacts, sms etc & then format the SD card, do all those folders show up again after I flash a stock ROM ? I guess I'm not too clear on wot u mean by wiping the SD card

Yes just backup stuff you know and have put there like music, pictures, downloaded stuff you want to keep etc. Anything you don't know what it is don't back it up. Then format SD card. Do a full format not a quick. Then without ejecting card, reboot into recovery. Mount SD card in recovery and put on rom you want to use. Select wipe all partitions except SD card and then flash ROM. The goal is to try and flash your device with nothing on SD card except the ROM itself.

I suppose to avoid the possibility of not ejecting causing problems you could just go to recovery then mount SD and do the above.

What's the difference between
Radio_12.69.60.29_26.17.14.11_M
and
Radio_12.69a.60.29U_26.17.14.11_M
??
I think it's the same thing... Check the MD5 for each of them... If it's the same then they're the same radio.. Also, at times depending upon ur carrier/phone service, the U will change to another letter even though it's the same radio....
Thanks
These settings in build prop change the U to P or whatever depending on what's there.

ro.ril.hsdpa.category = 10
ro.ril.hsupa.category = 6

Hsxpa when set to 3 is P and when its 2 its U. The radio is the same its just internal settings that tag it with different letters.

1) Hey man, well where do I find the proper stock rom ? I know abt this link, or is it some other link:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Ace
2) I got my phone from Vodafone UK on contract... Which rom should I flash from the list above ? Or if it's some other link I should be at then plz advise... Cheers...
3) I JUST found this link on the HTC website under HTC media link Rom update for HTC Desire HD 1.11.0.0):
http://www.htc.com/uk/help/htc-desire-hd/#download
Is this the ruu I'm looking for ?
4) After flashing the stock ruu, I will obviously lose root. Wot abt S-OFF ? Will that still b active ? Nonetheless, how do I root my DHD again ? Using this ?
http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=74
Once you flash the ruu you will still be s off. From there you can just use aahk to reflash recovery and then flash whatever rooted rom you want. Some people claim though that they were able to fix an issue by using aahk to return to stock with s on. And then flashing ruu and then verifying problem is gone. If so run aahk again to gain s off, root and custom recovery.

Hey man I don't know which RUU to use. Plz help me out w that ? Or shud I just use the latest WWE ?
This is the first I've heard of this problem... does it affect the Inspire as well?
I will wait to see if your sound problem is solved.
I am not ready to re roote , last time i did it for DHD before two years, it was dificult , took me 3 hours.
I dont know whether it is simple with using aahk.
Good luck
Hello people,
Well the sound problems is NOT solved which means I need a new earpiece unfortunately
I did everything I could:
1) I booted into recovery & wiped the cache & dalvik cache
2) then I wiped all partitions except SD card & then I wiped the SD card just to make sure the problem wasn't due to anything on my SD card (software related)
3) during all this time my DHD was connected to my PC via the USB cable
4) so then I dloaded one of the latest stock roms from this link http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Ace The file u dload is in .exe so then I was kinda stuck
5) anyway, the Advanced Ace Hack Kit (AAHK) is VERY easy to use, trust me. I remember rooting my DHD in late 2010 & it wasn't easy cuz u had to downgrade the stock rom & then root it but the AAHK (http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=74) is simply a ONE click method provided uve followed the "EFFIN MANUAL" & done the prerequisites.
6) also, if uve done wot I did & are quite stuck then no problem, u can follow one of the options in the AAHK menu & dload a stock rom through it & then flash it (ALL done automatically). All u need is common sense & to be able to read English LOL It's THAT simple...
7) so I dloaded a Vodafone stock rom & booted into it but YET AGAIN the earpiece problem was STILL there.
8) so then I rooted my device once more (again very easy to do, a ONE click method) & installed ARHD 7.04 on it... Everything is top notch except for the earpiece problem. I've dloaded a few videos to help me replace the earpiece. The earpiece itself costs between £5-8 from eBay UK...
I have done the same, the sound problem not solved and decided to replace the ear-piece . Disassembly video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfatoeWbMRk
Please advise the video you have downloaded for ear-piece replacement
and Ebay part is it original. pls advise the link. What about the required tools?
Thanks
Hello,
It's my first time rooting my phone and installing a custom ROM. Everything went pretty well and I managed to install this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355660
I have a suspicion that the voice quality during calls is worse than it used to be before installing the new ROM. Has anyone else experienced something similar and if yes is there a way to improve the quality of the sound?
And something else, if I want to update the ROM do I have to flash an updated version of it? Is it going to wipe everything (apps etc.) or not?
Sorry for the noob questions but as I said it my first time trying this
If you want to update, it's recommended to full wipe. Just backup your apps with Titanium Backup and restore them after flashing the update.

Hi Guys,
I'm from India and I updated my Xperia S[LT26i] to JB 4.1.2 a week ago via Sony Update Service. The build no. is 6.2.B.0.211.
The phone was working PERFECTLY till today. It was a joy using the phone and suddenly today morning, the phone rebooted, all the apps and games and tweaks that I'd installed on my phone were gone. The language had automatically changed to Bosnian . All the wifi-passwords were gone. It was as if it restored to factory settings, without my permission in an alien language. I tried rebooting my device several times but to no avail. ALSO, all the data on my internal memory card is lost!!! :'(
There was a lot of important data, photos and files! ALL GONE!
What could be the reason for this happening? Is there anyway I can restore it to its previous glory as it was very tedious and took me weeks to customise it exactly as I wanted it.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you.
P.S. - My phone was rooted before the updated, but it was automatically unrooted after the update to JB.

Settings once lost are lost , thats why everyone recommend to take a Nandroid backup of ROM.
if anything of "this" sort happen, you can just restore the backup and nothing is lost.
But your case is weird bro !!

It's really weird. And BOSNIAN?! I thought my phone was hacked or something. I have the recovery softwares to recover data, I just hope it works on cellphones since I've never tried it before. What I wanna know is, if it's a recognised bug or is something wrong particularly with my phone.

I suggest you reflash the ROM. then use DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit
Read the instructions carefully
Then Install recovery to take backup.
If this problem happens again, reflash to some stock based custom ROM which is more stable..

I am using official JB from Sony, wouldn't it be easier if I just installed everything like and customise and then take backup instead of flashing the ROM with an unofficial one?

if dont want unofficial , then flash the stock jb.( the rom u using now, flash it again, clean install)
All your settings gone ,right?
try this if you dont wanna flash,
skip the flash , use the rooting kit then install all your tweaks, customizations etc then take a recovery backup. :fingers-crossed:

So, I can't recover the files because the phone is attached as portable media player to my laptop. Recovery works only if I attach it as Mass Storage Drive. Any idea how I can do that? I remember this feature was present in Gingerbread, but never saw it since ICS.

Yes. I rooted the device as well successfully.
The phone connects to the computer as portable media device giving me access to the files but its not quite same as the Mass Storage Device.
Tried certain apps as well but nothing would work. I want to mount my phone as MSD, like a pen drive or an extrernal HDD.
Try go asetting, app, the clear data for the album and walkman app to get back all Yr picture and music. Then the rest is slowly install back
