Just wondering how to improve wireless signal. It used to be quite good but recently its quite poor.
Wondered if updating radio would improve it

What radio do you have?
Updating radio never did anything for me on that end. There is wifi sensor plus kernel from Droidzone, you can try that. Also if you hold your phone in horizontal position, antenna is covered with your hand.

Mine increased its speed and signal 1.5~2 times than without the foil.
By doing that your connecting the wifi, gps and radio antennas together with the tin foil. Bound to cause some problems in the long run.
Runs good. Guess you are wrong.
Looks like the wifi and 3g antennas are bridged but the gps has been gone around (the one at the top).

hmm.. wanting to try this but also not. even if not now, it does seem very possible that connecting the wifi and the 3G antenna should/will cause a problem.
Normally both radios wouldn't be running at the same time. But what would happen when running wifi tether?
Stole my thread bro. But that's an interesting way you did it.

I would avoid it. The radio engineers did it their way for a reason.

Another Chinese mod... Not the smartest move in the long run especially with health and safety standards. The phones are designed to take in only so much information and data at a time. Doing this is like overclocking your processor and in time comes with a price. Use at own discretion.

Also curious, to the OP, have you tried running wifi tether with the foil?

I believe it's the top one. I tested it multiple times.

Sure about that? Because when I tried the foil trick on just the bottom one I lost signal which wouldn't happen If it was the ones on top.

The antenna next to the camera is GPS. GPS uses a loop. If you'll notice, the gold strip covers both contacts to form a complete loop.
The mobile antenna is on the bottom with the long strip.
Bridging all of the antennas is bound to cause some problems. If you have both radios on, but leave wifi disconnected, it will stay mostly off as it periodically polls for access points.
The mobile radio works similarly. While not on a call and not using data, it isn't maintaining a constant connection. It periodically polls for updates and connectivity.
In the end, not all of the radios will be firing at once.
With minor testing you might not notice any problems. Keep in mind the problem that plagued the iPhone was exposed antennas for different radios being bridged causing dropped calls.
I'd be interested in seeing some real world testing and not quick benchmarks. Try some google maps navigation and see how reliable it is. Make a phone call while connected to wifi. Try some wifi tethering. Wifi tether while browsing google maps on your device to activate all 3 of the radios affected. I'm genuinely curious what the results would be.
Yeah this isnt a good idea. For whatever reason it might run fine now, but there is something called SWR (standing wave ratio) which is reflected power back to the transmitter. If you have a high SWR due to unmatched load (antenna) then you will eventually degrade the RF front end of the transmitting radios in addition to inefficient radiation of the signal.
As it was mentioned before, great received signal and data download, but poor upload...this to me is a direct indication that the transmit side is mis-matched and most of the power is being reflected back to the transmitter. The great received signal is really irrelevant because cell base stations transmit high power...around 20 watts while our handsets are on the order of 0.3 watts or less so overall receive performance is going to be good regardless of a properly matched antenna.
Bottom line, I wouldn't recommend this.
I am currently having an issue where I almost always have 1x. When I used to.always have 3g. Verizon said there are no outages, and i am having this issue in about a 50 mile radius. So its not just 1 tower. If I start to use data. The signal on the top of my phone will.flip back and forth from 1x to 3g constantly once a second.. but it.won't show any data moving. I can only use data from WiFi. This is happening on.newts incredible sensation ( previously worked ) and the incredible hd sense 3.5 ROM. I have tried 228 option 1 and 2. And VZW isn't really helping. Anyone have any thoughts? I tried searching but didn't find anything similar.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Yes sir. It worked. Thank you! Can't believe I didn't think of that before. LOL. But 722 works great.

I've been having the same problem, both at my parents house, and at my dorm (a small town to a large city as far as cell coverage is concerned)
I've ran both the shipping radio, the second gingerbread radio, and the current 722 radio and the problem still persists for me.
Was happening on OMGB, however i'm on gingerbang 1.7 and it still persists, even after a *228.
Do i just have a bum phone?
I am not rooted but I am almost always on 1x and not 3g. Extremely annoying when my old samsung rogue (verizon) had awesome reception. What gives?
Im not rooted, so anyone have any ideas?

Take off battery back cover and check those gold connectors. Make sure they are clean and stuff

Reason being, just in case you didn't know. The back cover of the Incredible2 is your antenna pretty much. WiFi at the top, Data at the bottom. Those gold connectors needs to have good contact.
Try it, take the back cover off and watch your signal drop
So I was in school today and found out that it has a wifi through out the whole building.. and my friends iphone 4 was able to pick it up however our beloved androids (desire Z) wasn't able to detect or pick it upp..any thoughtts on why not cuz I'm going nutts here.

Well the iphone might have better reception then our DZ. However what radio do you have? This can affect performance. Roms can also make a difference. If I remember right I'm running th .30 radio, which isn't the latest but it has alsways worked well for me. I don't have an iphone to compare so I don't know if it better or worse.

I need a developers help
* it can't be the school blocking it because its visible to the iphone.

Is it truly visible, or is the SSID disabled and he added the network manually?

Did you test under identical environments? Both outdoors in the same location, etc, at the same time of day (mobile networks can get congested during peak times).
If you're getting 2.8mbps once in a while, I think that points more to a ****ty network connection than a faulty ROM. Have you tried going back to stock and confirming that your connection jumps back up to full speed? Perhaps its a hardware fault rather than ROM-related? Have you tested different kernels too?
You're providing too little information for anyone to really diagnose your problem here unfortunately.
Hi
I have problem with my phone. From time to time person on the other side says that there are noises, quite loud, like humming. It don't happens when I use Bluetooth in car.
Independent from Rom, checked on 2 radios. Now I have .19 radio.
Any ideas?

I found some reason. Veeery not typical.
If I squeeze phone during convo, humming is gone. Looks like hardware issue.
