I'm glad your LG rep is actually worth a darn. Ours always came around and talked up the LG products but never knew much about them. We got some laughs when he told us Apple stole the iPhone design from LG. And honestly, they might have. But this guy was 1000% LG is better than everything, regardless of what it was.
Never gave us any insight on oncoming updates or new releases or anything, but he'll argue with you til you're blue in the face if you tell him a Samsung TV is better than an LG for any reason given.
Good news? You mean great news. But I am betting 3-4 weeks. I really want to be proved wrong. Jb update means new stuff to not be bored for a few weeks. Then it mean jb source and new stuff to not be bored for a long time. This phone could beat my 6 month record for a phone!

great newwwwws!!
has anyone actually seen jelly bean running on an Optimus G yet? I know it's been released in South Korea, but I've been trying to find a changelog or something that actually shows the new features. I've been checking youtube everyday to see if there are videos of the new software, but nothing yet... which seems weird to me
does anyone have a changelog or even a video of the official jelly bean update running on an Optimus G?

I guess it's something. I wish LG would release a changelog so we can see the official features that are added. I think there is one at the Korean LG website, but I tried Google Translate on it and it didn't translate it very well..

It doesn't show a lot, but some of the features there look pretty slick. I liked the translate feature from the Camera, that looks pretty awesome.
EDIT: Do you think that this is due to the Optimus G Pro announcement? The two phones seem very similar and it makes sense that rolling out the one device with JB at the same time that they are updating the other is logical and fairly easy, right? Or am I stuipd? (see what I did there?)
Yeah that makes sense actually. I think the specs are relatively the same for both devices (obviously Pro is a bit faster and powerful, but I think besides the bump in clock speed, everything else is the same), and even then, I've heard the phones are the same but the Pro is just overclocked with the same processor. Here's an excerpt from the Engadget article when the Pro was announced:
There's now a quicker, 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, a heftier 3,000mAh battery and Jelly Bean (albeit Android 4.1, not 4.2) out of the box. Other elements are familiar carryovers, such as the 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel camera, 32GB of built-in storage, a microSDXC slot and LTE
Click to collapse
So looks like the same chip, so my guess would be that it's just overclocked, so hopefully the Jelly Bean update will come soon. I think the Pro is set to release in April...hope they don't keep us waiting that long
http://androidos.in/2013/01/lg-optimus-g-worldwide-roll-out-begins-with-jelly-bean-on-board/
Looks like this might have something to do with it as well. The standard OG is rolling out to 50 countries with JB pre-loaded.

Just wondering when sprint is going to push the Jelly Bean update to the GS3. I have a friend who got it a couple weeks ago on T-Mobile. Also anybody in the STL area know when we're going to get LTE from Sprint. And how to change Mobile Network to LTE. I have it set to CDMA/LTE I guess that if it's on LTE it will say 4G instead of 3G?

From what I'm seeing from the developers, the Sprint Samsung Galaxy s3 will have a functional (not official) jelly bean rom very soon. In fact, it seems they are very very close. The only things that are not working yet are screen rotation, mms, and some browser issues. Seeing how quickly every other issue has been resolved, I wouldn't be surprised to see a working jb rom this week.

Thanks for the answer guys. Not looking for a rom really since I haven't rooted my S3, yet... When I for my OG Evo I immediately rooted and flashed. It really needed to run better though. I stock sense for the OG Evo sacked. It was laggy and such. But so far. My S3 has been running like a top. Don't see a reason to root and flash, flash yet..... Although being able to tether for free would come in handy. BTW answered the LTE part of my initial question. No news on that one either huh?

The N4 has been made able to access several 4G LTE networks, including AT&T LTE, band 4. But then we've been made able to access GSM networks, although it requires a bit of hardware modding.

More potential. Endless potential due to the N4 being based off the OG, the camera for bragging rights, and the sheer build quality. Main reason for me was the price, got it for $99 from Best Buy, while as my brother paid ~450 for his Note II.

I see these same things about bad updates on every phone I've ever owned. When I had the thunderbolt everyone complained about htc. Then I had the droid charge and everyone complained about Samsung. The way I see it at this point is I don't buy a phone unless its good enough to begin with because you can't count on updates unless you buy nexus. Now every update I get is just a cool bonus. LG Optimus F7 = LG LTE III
I have ordered one from Chinese dealer. It will arrive in a few days.
The design seems very nice and even better than Optimus G. For one it just costs about 350 USD.
And also it includes a 2540mah battery, True HD IPS mon, MSM8960, 2G ram.
All reviews I saw show positive feedbacks. I suggest those who like the above feature should try.
I've been trying to find a store that sells optimus f5 ever since it was "released" in France, but I haven't been able to find a single store (in EU) that has this phone in stock. Has anyone actually seen this phone in the wild, available to general public?
I'd really love to get this phone because I absolutely detest huge screens of current "flagship phones", but sadly I can't fine one to buy.

official optimus f5 is in store in Hong Kong. it is nice but the screen is really not as good as the f7's true HD IPS. i don't get it there should be normally many dealers from china who would ship these phone to europe and us. maybe it's all the high tax making it not available in some areas.

The branding on the front is what is making new lean towardds it being the G2. We will know for sure within the week. If it is the G2 I would expect the Nexus 5 to have similar specs. The internet rumors are that LG is making the next Nexus.
Some key things to know is the 800 chip isn't going into mass production until this month. Also, LG said the G2 will launch in the 3rd quarter. Either way it goes, Google I/O is next week. If it is a nexus we all will know. It they don't mention it, there is pretty good reason to believe it is a G2.
But, then again... T-Mobile did launch the Nexus. It never got the G. Everyone is saying there is a CDMA Nexus coming. Maybe I am not 99% sure.

They are just going off what I told them. They aren't sure either. They are just pretty sure.
The LS970 was first leaked on May 8th of last year. The bluetooth paperwork was filed in mid June. It was announced in October. It didn't launch until November. I expect this one a bit sooner.
Edit: IT'S THE G2. It is confirmed.

Oh and something called a Snapdragon 800 processor. I don't recall seeing one of these before.
It is the G2. *confirmed*

If Sprint would just get their "new" network built out that would give all of us new phones without doing anything else.
Any ideas on the size/shape of this thing? I was just checking out phones and I prefer the LG form factor to the HTC which feels too tall and skinny.

Yeah, there was the rumored LG phone with the 800 coming to sprint(I'm guessing this is it) ...I'm in! All I have to do is wait.

Hmmm this makes my Oct 1 upgrade date seem not so bad. Still rocking my GS2 till then.
I have one in Aug. I just I hope I don't blow my mobile load and go for the S4/One. If I can make it at least until the GN3 comes out I should be good.

I read that the OG2 is probably releasing with 4.2.2. You guys think we'll see a OG upgrade to 4.2 when the OG2 drops?
I got this LGOG for full price and now another one. Well I better start saving now. Upgrade until August of next year At least my 2 month old phone I gave to my dad.
No Pro?
The sprint guy at my local store says ther won't be getting the Gpro at Sprint. Maybe bs, but something to think about.

I am anxious to get a 4.2 upgrade as it should include the group messaging fix. Would be nice to get dashlock and photosphere but there's no guarantee that an update would include those anyway.

Looks like pics of the G2 have surfaced online.

Pretty lame that the volume buttons and notification led are on the back of the phone! Passing on this!

Yeah, I know. But we're not even on 4.2 yet. Which shocks the hell out of me since the OG and Nexus 4 are the same on the inside, So it's not a hardware problem. I doubt they're gonna push a 4.3 update to us.
Figured i would start this thread seeing as the Verizon has its own now. This way all of the sprint rumors, speculation and or whatever involving the 4.4 update can be put here. This way we are not digging through so many pages to find a few that relate to the sprint variant.
It's weird, Sprint is usually super quick at updates, if not first. Oh well, I think it will be soon, I can feel it.

First of all thanks for starting this second if any one intetested i read an article on Tuesday see link http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/03/04/lg-g2-android-4-4-update-expect/ the writer forgot to mention sprint and got so flamed he had to edit it and add us in read artical then see the comments at end
sent from my lg-ls980 there are many like it but this one is mine
From the same site. I saw this also reported on a couple other sites too but don't have the links. I'm betting Sprint is going to hold it but have no clue why. Maybe to push GS5 sales, but I have no clue why someone would want that phone.

I'd say until Flex has 4.4 on Sprint you can forget about it.

They better not. If they hold the update until May I'll pay the ETF and leave them on the spot.

Considering they are just now rolling in. My buddy bought one this week and the sales guys was pressing him and another guy hard to buy that phone. The whole idea around note competition to. I'm just saying if I was head of LG I'd put 4.4 on my newest model first only because your newest version is sadly running 4.2.2

LG has already given KK to Sprint. They've been testing it for a while now. It's up to them to finalize and Ok it now. The Flex has been out on Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T for a month and 2 of them have updated the G2.

In LG's defense, when KitKat released in November, some variant's of the m7(HTC One) were still on 4.1.2. LG would have been stupid to update 4.3, it would have been a flagrant waste of money. LG knew in August of the existence of Kitkat(because PDK, and Nexus 5), so they just focused on delivering KitKat, and skipping 4.3. Hell, the Note 10.1 is skipping 4.2 AND 4.3, and going straight to KitKat.

I would have but at the time couldnt shell out the cash for the 32gb. 16 just isnt enough for me and honestly 32 sometimes becomes pretty close to cutting it.

from what i am seeing and hearing, No. you will have to .tot back to stock in order to take ota. or if those apps were backed up in titanium you may be able to restore them and take ota. Not sure on the last one though.
I suspect part of wait for 4.4 is that Sprint put a lot of resources into the 4.2 Spark Update when they would have been otherwise testing KK, other carriers were able to get more QA time on the new release and Sprint is playing catchup. (Personally, I wish they'd waited for KK to do Spark)

Really, you cannot wait two months for the update. I'll be upset if everyone else has it before us, went through that with the EVO 3D ICS update.
