For the past hour, I've been trying to make a call and I can't get a dial tone. I got it to go through once, but no it won't. It just makes a blaring "BOOP BOOP BOOP" sound, idk how to explain it xD,
But has anyone else gotten it? Is it a problem with Sprint, or is my modem broken or something? I have no idea why this is happening.
Thanks.
Come on, someone please respond
What modem are you on?
Sent from Godot's place.
Me too!!! I try to call out and after about 20 - 30 seconds I get a fast busy signal. I can receive calls no problem.
I DO have Google Voice active on my account...
EDIT:
Just disabled GV and now it's all good. Google must be having problems.
Sounds like a network problem with sprint. You could try flashing a dif modem or even odining to stock but imo it sounds like a network issue on sprints end. Try calling customer service.

A boop boop boop tells me I'm connected to my airave.
Try dialing *99 send
It will either say you are now in airave coverage or this feature code is incorrect if your not.

In my case it is an issue w/ Sprint and GV. I disabled GV on my account and presto, I could make calls again.
Of course, this was after flashing a couple of different modems... sigh.
Normally I try not to feed the trolls and wasn't even thinking when I wrote it but I guess it goes to show you can learn new words when trolling other devices forums. Maybe you should thanks me for increasing your vocabulary. ;-)

Both my wife's and my phone are doing the same thing. I spent a good 30 minutes on the phone with customer support. Interestingly, I was able to get it to work for about 5 minutes by dialing *740 (but not pressing talk) then rebooting the phone. The CS rep said it had something to do with "call forwarding being enabled" for whatever that's worth. I immediately asked if it was related to the GV integration being setup on both lines and she said no (but in my head I'm thinking, yeah right).
I did notice that my PRL was the "older" one and I just did a PRL update on my phone, but that didn't fix anything.
If you disable GV integration, can I just re-enable it later when they fix this? Is there any delay in switching GV on/off the account?
It worked instantly for me. As for turning it back on, I've done it a few times in the past.

Here's what has happened....
I purchased my SGS2 Saturday April 14th, I rooted it same day, I flashed TDJ Warefare. I noticed on the 4th day after getting my phone my calls started to drop like crazy. Like every other call was dropping or they couldn't hear me. So I called Tmo they walked me through troubleshooting, that didn't help. Took it back to the store where I purchased it this past weekend the sales rep said it sounds like it's a bad sim card. Ok so they changed my sim (of course I rooted again tried Jugganuats this time) and the phone was working fine until yesterday it starting dropping calls. SO I took the phone back and they switched it with a new one.
I would like to know from you all should I try rooting again?
Please don't flame me for asking this question or if it's in the wrong section of the forum.
I would just like your honest opinion as to what If I should or not and if I do, is there a solution to the dropped calls????
Thanks all
Rooting has nothing to do with your dropped calls. your first phone was defective.

I did I have a new one now. I was asking should I root again? I just don't want my calls to start dropping again.
Let me ask you since it's not the rooting what do you think it could be??
Did you do a factory reset before taking it back?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Rooting will not affect the signal or radio. Would suggest that, stay on stock ROM for a week or so and see if you get drop calls. If not, then try another ROM and if you get drop calls after that so it has to do with the ROM.

Hi all,
I know this seems to be a wide spread problem and I've read through several threads hoping to fix the problem but nothing seems to be really working for me :/
This first happened while I was running 4.0.3. Wifi was working fine. Then one day when I went to switch it on like I normally ever would, it seemed to get stuck at the "Turning Wi-Fi on..." message. Reboots didn't help anything.
So I decided to upgrade to 4.1.1 thinking that doing a factory reset and flashing a new ROM would fix things. Flashed Paranoid Android ROM with no problems (wiped data, dalvik cache, etc etc) and saw the same problem with wifi when I tried turning it on. Reboot did nothing. Tried flashing the boot.img manually and that did nothing. Tried flashing Trinity kernel and once again nothing.
Can anyone help me out? This is really killing me and I think it's also destroying my phone's battery life as well
My Galaxy Nexus is GSM yakju if that helps out at all.
Thanks!!
This was also my problem... except my phone rebooted every 2minutes... I just flashed stock everything and then sent it to Samsung

How does this work exactly? Do you need a receipt or anything? I'm guessing I need to flash back to stock rom and unroot? And probably call or talk to Samsung to get it set up? Any other details I'm missing?

Well for me, I bought GNEX from someone else and I had to ask the guy to give me the receipt cuz Samsung wouldn't take it unless I show proof that the phone was from Canada (I live in canada)
Also I would recommend flashing to stock uprooting and re locking... Just in case

This problem happened again for me as well, but only on cdma. Try switching your phone to gsm only and see if it functions. That is what seemed to fix mine. (I know, not really a fix. I am just curious if the problem is a bug in the new radio.)

You need a custom recovery and you need to know how to use it (the recovery you have).
Again, towle has a sticky with mirrors MANY helpful downloads. a flashable zip of uvle1 radio was in it the last time I checked.
If you don't know how to check if a flashable radio has a ril then flash the radio, THEN your ROM. Custom ROMs tend to have custom rils and it is best not to overwrite them.
----
As an end note, I'm using lh1 and have been on every ROM I've used (tried too many to remember), not everyone has issues; it may depend on the area you are in.

I agree!!!!
I just Re-flashed both my phones to GINGERBREAD 2.3.6 UVLDE That I got from Here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=4798 using the ODIN software and a great walk though found Here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-t-mobile/628449-how-odin-any-stock-rom.html
So far, we haven't had any calling issues as of yet....Plus, the phone is super fast again!! I noticed that with ICS on the phone, and Factory Reset with nothing on it, My RAM was tipping between 500-600 MB of use!! and now that we are back to Gingerbread, it's at 295-340MB....Which is a HUGE difference!!!!!
Let's hope, that maybe it might be defective SIM cards or chips like you said, but I am also tired of wiping these phones and starting all over again!!! I think Im gonna stay with GB for now......It's woking as intended anyway...
I'm having this issue where when i make or receive a call at times there is no sound and either party cannot hear. This happened to me on GB too. After monitoring it for a long time, i figured that it only happens when inside home where i get poor reception and not outside or places with good reception.
When i'm at home i usually get 1-2 bars of signal. Often, when i get a call and i don't get any sound, i look at the signal strength and it is at 4 bars but as the call disconnects it drops back to 2 and then if i make or receive the call then it goes fine.
I searched around the net i see this issue is with S3 users too, when they have poor reception they do not get any sound on call. I'm thinking that it has to do something with the radio hardware or holding reception in low reception areas.
Last night i decided to odin to stock Jb because I had read that you should do this to ensure all partitions were flashed. I had already flashed new frosty rom with official jb base and everything was fine, but now for some strange reason my phone will not call my wife. As great as this sounds it is a problem as I do need to call her from time to time. She is not on the blocked call list and I have tried 2 different roms, frosty and infamous and both have the same result. It will start the call and get to half a ring and then hang up. I have wiped and re- wiped( getting sore from wiping so much) sorry couldn't resist. Any one have a clue how to fix. I have deleted her as a contact and tried dialing direct and nothing works.
