The newer updates as of late December some websites have become mainly flash is like the browser refuses to accept the site no matter what browser you use. I've used macks 3.6, and jelly bombed

I use flash just fine all you have to do is sideload it and use a 3rd party browser and flash works just like it did on ICS and websites didn't suddenly decide to use flash most sites are actually migrating to html5 and have the option to choose the flash version or html5 version of the site. Be glad you don't have an iFail they've never had flash and you can't even sideload it to get it working:thumbdown:

Flash works just fine on stock browser. For most sites I visit anyway. Pm me for the flashplayer.apk I use.

I like to watch alot of anime and when I updated the rom I found out I couldnt get into sites like Novamov, bc with them i can play the anime on mxplayer instead of using a web based player. I went back to 3.5 and it works perfectly fine, does morphology have anything to do with messing with the browser and I do have flash installed the issue happens on the stock browser as well

And what I mean about the websites is the page doesnt load its as if my internet cuts out but then I goto a different site and it works perfectly fine.

Maybe when key lime pie releases it will fix apps2sd for our phone.

One annoyance that ics caused is the inability to play my notification AND music at the same time, without pausing my music and taking temporary focus.
I have to turn my notification sounds off because of this and it annoys me.

sounds more like a flash player issue than an Android one. You can side load Flash Player as at least one person has stated; one even offered to send APK.
The problem, flash player hasn't really been updated for ICS and beyond. It will work. In my experience, how well it works on sites is very dependent how that particular site encoded their flash content. I've had where video plays fine until I go full screen, the picture disappears but I have audio. And Adobe is no longer giving any support for the mobile flash player; maybe if there is some critical security issue to fix it.
What you can try to do is trying using different browsers that can use Flash Player such as Boat or Dolphin. I use Boat for flash sites. I only go to limited sites for those needs. I couldn't get Dolphin to open, but on the Evo 4G is was most flash friendly (gave the least problem in regards to flash player). There are a couple others browsers. Too bad Google didn't want do it for Chrome since I like how it works on the desktop version.
I'm not familiar with any of the aninme sites. There may be altermatives to use. You could trying use Plex and book marking the videos you want to see on the desktop. Then later you can load the Plex Android app to watch it; works well unless there are commercials and they use a different feed; it doesn't switch back to the main video. You could see if the sites lets you downlaod the video and play through a media such a Google Play, BS Player, Mobo Player and so on.
As for Gingerbread, you're going to need custom rom that someone will probably need to make from the ground up since no variant was released with it. Then there are the carrier specifics for drivers and radios. It's a lot of work that I don't think many users would be interested in using, which can have a major influence on developers taking the challenge. People want the upcoming Android, not stuff from two years ago.

Hmm Ok Thanks

I dont have this issue anymore. used to on stock but not on macks rom 4.0...now the music volume temporarily fades when the notification comes in but continues to play and resumes normally
Edit: I take this back. Also have the same issue still. Thought the issue was gone until I tried listening thru headphones...very annoying. Phone won't even ring through a headset?!

I've noticed an issue on stock TW (LK8) where flash sites cause it to fail loading and then crashes the browser. Restarting the browser get the page to load.
But keep in mind that's not the direction that the internet standard is going. Flash as a video tool is being phased out as HTML5 standards now support most of the content that Flash used to - without Adobe having to absorb costs of development and support for Flash Players across the spectrum. Some sites will take longer than others to make the transition... but there are always other sites out there.
And for general info - whether it's TV, Anime, etc. - I recommend downloading a (legal) copy over streaming whenever possible. Sure it takes a little longer to plan and get the files... but then you get a better quality viewing experience and no lag - no matter how many times you watch it!

One unmentioned difference between fb27 and other ICS builds

One of the main things I noticed on the other builds is that they wouldn't play flash videos from full websites well at all. It would play them in slow motion. It seems as though, however, that they fixed that issue with fb27..... sort of. We can now watch the flash videos, but no browser can open them in full screen without crashing.
If you guys can, please try a few out and lemme know your findings. This would be a good bug to inform people about so everyone know what to look out for in the next builds.

Odd, but flash videos on full websites has worked for me since FB17 (I use Dolphin HD browser)...though you're right, the full screen bug has also been present since then -_-

I have a fix for this but it is for the Galaxy S port of ICS. It's because the ICS browser is not "fully" HTML5 enabled. It can only deal with mobile optimised versions of flash sites. You need to flash the full Adobe flash drivers and module. If you send me your current build.prop details I will make you a flashable zip that will enable all flash sites to play in both mobile AND desktop modes
also Samsung are a long way off with a fix gathering by the look of their latest framework.jar file. It still doesn't have all of the classes for HTML5
Why anybody would EVER use flash for anything ever is beyond me
I just redesigned a furchtbar site that used flash objects and other junk and via asp.net (unfortunately the server was IIS ) and thanks to CSS3 and HTML 5 flash is a thing of the past.
An HTML 5 video player with flash fallback is a good choice. For everything else PHP,JavaScript, html , flex, etc no need for flash.
Its 2012 the best way to design a site is with the latest technologies of PHP HTML 5 , etc. Fall backs for older browsers is not that much extra work.

Well, for one thing it's a standard supported directly by the browser, while Flash is a proprietary add-on made by Adobe. HTML5 has the potential to be faster and more secure, plus standard across any devices that support HTML5 standards. It IS considered the future and is definitely the direction everyone's shifting. Even Adobe's shifting focus to HTML5 tools over Flash ones.
Flash finally works in fb27 for me. I also notice that when the browser is done rendering it wontt show the whole webpagee until I start scrolling down.
One of the big differences is the modem, it's great. Where I currently am I've never gotten more than 1mb, tested this morning and got this!

Another "Best Browser" thread

Looking for a browser that displays "all" web pages properly, plays flash and html5 like it should. A test page in particular: http://realtour.biz/modules/stats/listing/?P=113963
This is a random reality listing that I can't get to display in Boat, Xscope or Chrome on my N7, but looks fine on a PC in any browser.
Once I get home, I'll try out the website in "Dolphin Browser". It normally seems to work great for Flash sites.
If you can't wait til I get home, then just try downloading it and give your feedback.
It's the best browser IMO.
Works & runs fine (with Flash) in Naked Browser . I've never seen a browser work like the stock ICS browser + no UI. It's just fast - plain & simple. No syncing of bookmarks tho so if that's a deal breaker, that one isn't for you. I use it across all my higher end devices & never have an issue. It's stable on my N7 & Galaxy Nexus. It supports flash just fine, too.
I just tried Naked. Looks sweet, but crashes on that page. The page opens with 3 down arrows (for flash), click flash and blank colors show up, then browser crashes. Should get a bunch of stats in the 3 boxes. Got a particular setting that works?

Strange. You have the latest flash apk from Adobe's website, right?
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/android/11.1.115.34/install_flash_player_ics.apk
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
I have Flash Player 11.1.for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.34). It also crashes as soon as I click any flash start arrow. Just tried one on Amazon, and got the "isn't responding do you want to exit" message.
edit: For the heck of it I installed the apk in your 1st link, it is also .34. Naked also crashed, but I tried it in Boat again and it opened fine... but then crashed after a few seconds. The flash on Amazon site (and most other sites) run fine in Boat.

Shi t. Ya you're right. You know what...I stupidly tried it (in Naked Browse) on my Galaxy nexus - not Nexus 7. Doh.
Ya it crashes for me too. However, it does work fine in Firefox Beta for my Nexus 7
I was hoping it didn't work in FF... I was using it, but is slower than Boat (or Naked), and I uninstalled it the other day. I think I'll stick with Boat (although will keep playing with Naked).
Has anyone from the Google Android team ever addressed why Chrome functions so poorly compared to the other Android browsers? You'd think Google could get their own browser in their own OS performing at least on par with other browsers.
I actually think Chrome functions well other than the fact it doesn't support Flash, and tends to "block pixelate" when scrolling sometimes. If it had Flash, it's all I'd have on my N7.

The site doesn't crash my devices. I should have access to a Nexus 7 after Christmas so I'll see if I can fix it in Naked Browser (I wrote that app).
I'm really liking Naked! It's fast. And speaking of browsers, I decided to uninstall Chrome updates and its file size went from 45mb to 3mb! (had no cache or history to start); but even after adding some bookmarks and history to Naked, it's only 750k.
Works like a charm with Aurora (Firefox alpha cycle).

[Q] flash substitution in html5

hey all,
im aware that jelly bean abandoned adobe flash, or vice versa. my question is: is there any solution for playing flash live streams using jb?
so far have tried installing flash player apk and using it with old versions of firefox beta, opera mobile 12 and dolphin 8.5.1. every time i try to test for flash, i get some laggy sound, no video and corrupted ads around.
if there is no solution, ill have to downgrade to ics and stay with it for the rest of my life
thanks
Try Google Chrome. They got flash built in.
actually, chrome that comes with jb doesnt support flash, even though desktop version has it built in
There is a an apk for jb in a different website (I believe it's android police - or something like that).
How it works? Not sure since I use aurora which is a beta browser and the video is unbearable. Could be the browser or the apk.
If you can't find it let me know and I'll upload it.
Edit: just read your post nevermind.
Sent from a dream.
so i guess theres no trick out there. just thinking it was stupid of them to get rid of such a feature without providing a ready alternative. its like stopping provide petrol even though electric cars arent properly out yet

Did not see it Listed, But if it is sorry.
So Here is a Super easy How to Guide on getting flash player on the Galaxy note 3. Now the stock web browser or Google chrome don't work so another browser will have to be downloaded.
Here is a list of working Browsers from what I tested.
Puffin Web Browser (Recommended)
UC Browser
Fire Fox
Sleipnir
Maxthon browser
Boat browser
Dolphin Browser and Dolphin Browser Mini
If you have another compatible browser, Please feel free to leave a comment so I can add it to the list. Thanks
How to Guide:
This will also work for the Samsung Galaxy s4, The Galaxy Tablets and almost any phone. some site wont work, and I almost actually had Chatroulette to work once. Let me know what happens for you.
Mod Edit: closed as a duplicate.
You can add Dolphin Browser to that list.
Both Dolphin Browser and Dolphin Browser Mini work, but your mileage may vary.

I honestly haven't needed mobile flash in a long time; HTML5 has largely replaced it for most things (youtube, pornvids, etc). I know that a lot games are still flash based, but those are a pain to play on a small touchscreen. So, what are people still using flash for?

Might as well get used to Dolphin now - KitKat breaks Flash support entirely but Dolphin has a hacked APK that still works. I've got KK on my Nexus 7 and my One and I have to use Dolphin on both. Even the stock browser on my One comes with a Flash option but it doesn't work in KitKat.

Actually, HTML5 mode works, but the video's quality is poor (low res). Moreover, you may want to use separate browser to open (requires mobile mode to enable HTML5).

Your argument is pretty ignorant and really only applies to Google and NOT real users.
Let's say that 1% of all sites on the internet is "not configured properly" and still uses flash. Google may not make a lot of money from 1% of the internet and that's may be the reason they don't want to continue to support flash.
But that 1% of websites may still be essential for users that frequent those sites. I don't need flash often, but 100% of the websites that broadcast "live sport" uses flash; so it is essential for me to have working flash on my phone. I don't care if it is buggy or not.
Google has be very heavy handed in their new service policies this year. Killing exchange active sync for gmail made me completely switch to Outlook.com. And now THIS!!!
Unfortunately, I think Android has peaked. They are no different from iOS now and in some ways, Google apps on iOS may even be better.
So guess what, my next phone/tablet/phablet will probably not be Android based.

I believe you miss-typed and meant to say....."if the site is properly configured"
That is all well and good in theory and such.....but in the real world it is still a long way off as millions of webpages still use flash only for audio and video streaming content.
At this point it seems that if you have 4.4 installed, using Puffin browser with server flash regurgitation is the only possible way to see or hear flash based content. And using Puffin for flash is a horrible experience especially for video with low resolution and choppy output. Some audio only streams I listen to on several sites have been fairly decent from my one day test.
So now after testing the Puffin browser to see what it's like if I allow the 4.4 update......I am glad I did not update as I use many flash based content pages/sites on a daily basis and most all of them do not revert to HTML5.
I am all for advancement into a unified video and audio content accessibility throughout webpages on various platforms....just wish it would happen more completely soon. Interesting times we are dealing with now as far as this technology goes.
Photon browswer also has server based flash and some sites that don't work on Puffin will work on Photon.
I completely agree that Android is useless without ability to stream flash one way or another.
