Usable USB hub for v3 kernel? - Kindle Fire Accessories

Hello I'm looking to connect a couple of things to my kindle fire and obviously I would need a powered hub for that. My question us if every powered hub would be good enough or only certain ones would work. I found this one for example for a pretty penny but I'm not sure if it would work...
If it's not to work is there a list somewhere for hubs that work with KF?
BTW I'm on Hashcode's latest (4.2.1) I don't think there would be any issue with it, would it?

[Q] Photoshop Touch on Kindle Fire?

I'm curious if anyone has tried to load any of the Adobe tablet apps onto the Kindle Fire, and if so, did they work?
I picked up a Kindle Fire yesterday, but haven't opened it yet, mainly because I don't want to find out the hard way that it won't be able to use awesome tablet apps that are currently only available in Google's Android Market.
I've heard that you can sideload apps on the Kindle Fire, but I'm not sure if that would work in this situation since it is a paid app that requires the Android Market. I don't have any other tablets, and when I went to buy the Photoshop Touch app on the Android Market website, it told me it wasn't compatible with any of my devices (only have Android phones so far).
I am guessing it would work, but the resolution is going to cause some of the Gui elements to be cut off, just like the HTC Flyer.

I tried to install it. It responded with a parsing error. Probably because the Fire is 2.3 and the Photo Shop Touch is only compatable with HoneyComb/ICS
Thanks for the answer. Good to know; I'll just have to wait for a port of ICS to the KF before purchasing Photoshop Touch.
and also, why not just root it? it is really a rather good tablet for it's price once it is rooted.
then you CAN get the android market on it (without having to sideload etc)
The android market website does say that Photoshop Touch is incompatible with the Fire. It says that Photoshop Express is compatible (that one is in Amazon's appstore, but the Amazon appstore says it's not compatible!) but all those other 9.99 Adobe tablet apps say they're incompatible.
has anyone tried sideloading these? if so how did you download/pay for them?
I got it to run using a custom ICS rom. I don't know about side loading tho
It works pretty well on ICS, all gui elements fit thx to fit button in ICS. But you probably will have to sideload it since kf not officially supported
Fit button?

Well, I was curious as to see if this app worked on the KF. I don't know/care what you do, but to get anything done with a Kindle Fire, you MUST root it. If you have one of the old versions (where/when did you buy it) then it comes with a heavily modded android 2.3, which does no good for anything, so I suggest that you root it with the KFU, install TWRP, and load up Ice Cream Sandwich, or Jellybean on it. I have twa_priv's latest CM10 jellybean custom ROM with the leaked 4.2 Gapps installed, and it does wonders! If you think that you would prefer a more vanilla ROM, I would go with Hashcode's; it is really good too.
Anyway, back to your dilemma/question: can you run Adobe Photoshop mobile products? the answer is yes; however, (at least for me, as my KF is not cloaked as a Galaxy Nexus) the Play store says it is incompatible. So I decided to do a google search of the latest apk, and downloaded it. Once I moved it over to my KF, it took about a minute to install (quite long, so don't worry that it isn't doing anything). I opened it up, and it works just fine. No crashes or anything; and it is a very good app, I think, after just playing with it for about 10 minutes.
So your answer is yes: first root and ROM your KF, then google search the latest apk and install it.

[Q] Do you recommend buying Kindle Fire ?

Hi All ,
Want to get a cheap tablet as already own HTC Desire HD and just want to try Android at bigger screen ...
after searching found that Kindle Fire is the cheapest tablet that i can get but also found some problems related to few limitations Amazon added to it's tablet but also found that there is a solution for that problems
i will use it in Browsing , Facebook , Twitter and other normal stuff ,,, don't need a super performance
also noticed that there is other ROM's for the devices and already tried MIUI and CM7 at my Desire HD and was good so i guess using other ROM will solve most of Kindle Fire problems
another question ,,, is there any Honeycomb or ICS ROM for it either officially or by developers
Thanks a lot and waiting your help and if there any other tablet with good spec and good price that will be better than KF let me know plz
maybe you want to take a look at this thead:

Yes, there is unofficial CM-7 ROM and CM-9 for kindle Fire. CM-7 is more stable and all features are running. CM-9 is also fairly stable but some features are still under development such as HD.
I am running CM-9 for almost more than three weeks in daily bases as the main ROM.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
Please note there are other Android tablet with more features such as external SD card and 3G network with a reasonable additional money if KF spec does not meet you requirement.
I forget to mention in my previous note that the blue youth is not enable on the stock ROM. Development is underway to enable it on CM7 and CM9.

Thanks all for your quick help
is installing other ROM like MIUI make it a full functional ROM with all video playback - using MX Video as example - and Full music player either it's MIUI player or other one ?
does using other ROM like MIUI or CM remove all limitations and allow me to install apps and games and whatever i want ?!
i guess MIUI based on 2.3.7 is stable enough for daily use and there is MIUI ICS ROM for it and Stock ICS ROM also was available while i was searching
i guess MIUI will be great on it
The Question is : Does Removing Stock ROM And Installing MIUI , CM , ICS Ports To It Convert It To Normal Tablet With All Android Functions ?
Thanks again all

Yes. I'm on CM7 and have full Android experience. Of course, no BT, no ext card. And you will lose some Amazon goodies, but anyway most of them are useless if you are not in States

I just want it for internet facebook twitter movies , don't care about BT or Camera or Amazon Apps cuz as u said i will be outside US
Thanks again and i will try to find way to get it by friend or whatever
If you just want it for Facebook, twitter, porn, ect... then the Fire will do you good. For $200 you really can't go wrong. Anyone know if it's possible to get the web browser from CM9 to run on CM7? I just like the way it's setup more.
Just flashed CM7 on my KF and couldn't be happier!!!! Seriously, it's an amazing tablet, especially for $199. As Morrison79 stated above, you really can't go wrong.
Does other browser like opera , firefox , dolphin hd working good ??
also what about MX Video Player , it's the best video player i have ever used , does it work good with KF ?
i know that it's for 200$ it's an amazing tablet and already like MIUI and CM Rom and have no problem in using any as my main ROM
i will search for any friend that can got it for me soon

For me, stock browser in CM7 is great. I use MX player, no problems at all. You can also check Mobo Player, it's great piece of software

Yes all three of those browsers work great on Cyanogenmod 7... I loved the ICS browser so much that I did not try them though I do not know about video player sorry..
Have the Fire and 32gb HP Touchpad...I have CM9 on the touchpad and like it better over the KF. But for travelling and on the go the KF comes with me most of the time due to the smaller size.
Paid almost the exact amount for the KF and Touchpad.

Some of the ICS Roms look very stable and have very little bugs that are minor

if you find something I posted helpful please thank me
I use CM9 as my daily now. Currently using the Energy ROM w/ Hashcode's June-8 kernel and it is solid as a brick. Minor issues: It seems the ROM has regressed regarding recognizing ad hoc networks (for tethering). Some other ROMs appear to support ad hoc networks. Auto brightness doesn't work yet in this ROM, either.
Those are the only issues I can find right now and I use it every day. I give it the "Daily" seal of approval!

So you all recommend that i get the Kindle Fire , Remove The Stock Firmware , Install Miui/CM9 and enjoy a dual core tablet for 200$ till the Quad Core Tablets are released ,,,
Any issue with common Applications or Games or every thing is just working fine ?
Most of use will be Movies , Games , Internet , Music
I play MassEffect Infiltrator, FLCommando on my kindle quite often. Both run without a hiccup.
I don't know how far in future a new/better deal is going to come out but right now this is as good as it gets. And you must come to grips with the fact that sooner or later something better is inevitably going to come out. Doesn't mean you should regret your decision to go with the kindle. It is a bargain at $200 after all.

I have a kindle fire, running ICS (gedeROM v1.55).
It works great. Music, videos, games, internet, Google apps & store.
Definitely don't think it would be a mistake getting this tablet if you just can't wait any longer.
But with the nexus tablet is likely to be announced by end of month, I would wait just a bit longer to weigh options.

[Q] Are there non-Touchwiz roms that work well with HDMI out/MHL?

I would love to ditch stock roms, but the lack of HDMI out is holding me back . I'm hoping the 4.3 leak may have helped, or that things have changed since my last hunt.

I don't have the capability to test that, well I do... but i haven't nor will I. I need to update that bible too... maybe this weekend if I get bored.
Doesn't the leak have TW in it? I know I can skin it to look like AOSP, but I just like having the real thing. I don't think many people use the HDMI feature because I can barely find anything about it in this entire forum/any others... @mt3g The Bible is awesome and thanks for the status update. You won't test every rom for me???
If I understand you correctly, then you'd love to go AOSP but worried the MHL Port HDMI output will break ?
If that's what you want to do, then why don't you do following.
1. Get all the hardware setup in order if not done already. This includes, Converter & HDMI Cable.
2. Test to see if the setup works with existing Touchwiz.
3. Take a Nandroid and then flash a Pure AOSP Rom, use MX Player or some other good quality player and see if the setup works again ?
If it fails, you can try VLC to mirror screens or use DLNA via your router ? You do have the option to go back via the Nandroid.

Exactly.
1 Cyanogen mod is a definite no-go on HDMI, and I found that out after I'd bought all the cables... (for anyone who finds this thread, you have to use S3 specific MHL adapters)
2 It currently works great on 4.1.2 TW Roms. I have already experimented with the 4.1 and 4.2 roms on TW and AOSP.
3 Right now once you go to 4.3 you can't go back to earlier versions (that I know already works), but at least one person did report that HDMI worked on the OTA versions. I'm just not sure if AOSP developers have/can/will be pulling HDMI drivers into their S3 builds.
I've found that using Archos Video and adding my HD as a network share is much easier than making a media server.
The extra support Samsung adds via Touchwiz framework makes it possible to do MHL Streaming for Touchwiz players. If you check, non-samsung video players have problems doing this over Touchwiz. So if you want to go aosp, you have to try DLNA (not Network Server) or Screen Replication.
I was hoping it wasn't TW specific, oh well. I'm selling my HTPC and planning on using my phone instead. Which means I will be streaming media to my phone, through the MHL port into the TV. Thanks for clarifiying it for me.
Just some food for thought if you please. Have you considered a TV Stick such as the Smartstick ? Perhaps for your setup, that may be an option.
They go for $24 right now. Link in the signature.
No I do not represent the company I develop custom Rom for it.

[Q] USB OTG with CM 10.2

I'm trying to run DSLR Controller on my kindle that Ijust flashed with CM 10.2. Is OTG not enabled currently or is my problem something else?
Is there any way to get it working, if that is the case?
You have to compile a custom kernel with otg enabled to use otg, and power the device up with a power supply of sorts or it won't have enough power.

Yeah I got same reply from Stunts513. There has to be an expert out there that can help us out as this is so important to so many Kindle Fire HD users.
I personally have so many uses for the OTG, meetings, keyboard, flash drives and a mouse. BTW all of this works on my stock Galaxy 3S but the screen is too small for my use.
There has to be someone out there that has done what Stunts513 is suggesting. Anyone??
I would give it a go if I had the disk space available on my Linux partition, but i don't because of the other ROM source code. Anyone with some basic Linux experience and a little bit of knowledge about compiling linux kernels could do it, it's not too difficult since it's just basically recompiling something we know compiles already.

Help! Amazon fire tv stick kodi

I have recently purchased an amazon fire tv stick. I have managed to install kodi with fusion and metal kettle. However when trying to use the apps nothing seems to load. The sports channels do not loads either. Im wondering if someone can help me. I would like my kodi menu to have categpries for the content. So i can easily select what i want to use. I also want it to work efficiently as it seems to be really slow. Any help would be appreciated. I am new to this. The ones that are for sale on ebay are how i would like mine set up. I tried to save a bit of money. But i feel like im hiting a brick wall.

this is not a kodi forum.
since u are using unofficial kodi addons I suggest to try the tvaddons forum. they even have custom kodi builds for the firetv. there are threads that are addon specific that may be useful.
