[Q] gio does nothing, hard brick? - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

hi, i've my samsung GIO rooted, and a cm7.2 rom running, but yesterday i got a error message in android, that the proces "android" stuck.
my phone didnt response on anything, so i take my battery out, and my phone turned off, and u put my battery back.
but my phone didnt start, i've tried many things:
charge , didnt charge, the led dont light up
take simcard and SD out, no effect, still no response
tried to start in recovery, no response
take battery out for 1 hour, and put back in, no response
put a gio battery in from a friend, no response
so my phone does nothing, no startup, no recovery menu, my charge light dont shine.
is this a hard brick?
can i solve this with a usb JIG?
can i solve this with odin?
i dont think odin or JIG will work, cause my charge light dont blink, so i guess my phone dont see the JIG.
i hope you can help me.

yup u got hardbrick. you gotta go to service center and say that u were upgrading with kies and this happen. dont tell about root or cwm or custom rom. though ur not giving us full information what u did that made this happen

thank you for your fast response.
i really dont know why i got this brick. it's the phone of my brother, and i've rooted + installed cm7.2 for him.
and he said:
i was watching a youtube movie, when i get a error message: "android process stuck".
and his phone didnt response so he put out the battery and placed it back, and then he got the hard brick.
JIGG, or jtagbox dont fix my brick?
i hope my brother has warranty.

If your phone does not respond at all, it's hardbricked.
Only solution is to take it to the service center...

my phone did nothing, no boot screen, no download mode, no recovery, no power light.
but my brother put his battery inside today, and the gio starts in download mode.
so im now looking on the internet for a good odin tutorial, so i can clean the phone, and flash a rom.
btw, most times i cant start the phone, neither in download mode, but sometimes, when de phone has been turned of for a few hours, it starts in download mode (not in normal mode, only download mode).
i let you know when im having succes with odin.

Before you do that remember that you need to have at least haft of the battery charged. Find a way to do that. Gio's battery fits to Galaxy Ace, maybe you find one to charge the battery. Good luck! :good:

tnx for saying, but my dad has a gio to, so that isnt the problem. tnx

my gio also got hardbricked and i brought it to warranty telling them that i was upgrading trough kies and in less then 1 week it was repaired

my brothers gio is working now .
my brother told me that his gio did nothing, but now i've tried it by myself
and the fact was that my brother didnt know the key combination to get in download mode. -_-
and the battery was empty, so he was right the phone did nothing -_-
after charge the battery i've flashed giopro, and then flashed jellybread 2.5 throught recovery.

tnx to you all,

Vibrates 7 times

I just rooted my HTC Desire and installed CM7 on it (loved it on my HTC Legend). But suddenly today, after I turned Wifi on, it started rebooting all the time, couldn't do anything to stop it. I thought "Hey, there was the radio flash thing in the tutorial that I didn't do yet, I'll try that out" so I flashed the radio. Then I chose reboot system, but it just booted to a logo with an android coming out of a trash can, and looked kinda stuck there. So I took out the battery and plugged back in. Now if I try to turn it on, it'll just vibrate 7 times - no picture or anything. Also there's no LED when I plug it to the charger.
I had those 7 vibrates too.
Happened after i flashed the cm7 hboot over my stock hboot while trying to enter recovery. After i re-flashed my recovery using fastboot, everything worked again. What happens if you try to power up while holding down vol- ? Did you use fastboot or your phones recovery mode to install the radio?
I am not able to start in recovery or anything. I tried vol. down + power and back + power and no matter what I try, it just vibrates 7 times. I used the recovery mode to install the radio.
You could try to connect your phone via usb and check if fastboot discovers your device. If yes, flash hboot and recovery using fastboot. If not, well... i dont have a clue. Sorry :/
Computer discovers nothing when I plug in the phone.

For the record to help some of you out who ended up here Googling: I had a similar issue. My HTC Desire SV did not boot, and when charging, only had an orange flashing light, and the phone vibrated 7 times. I did 2 things that got it back up:
1) left the phone off for say 10 minutes (I read about overheating issues in general, although the phone did not feel hot).
2) removed the battery for a couple of minutes.
VERY IMPORTANT: for step 2: make sure to have the battery removed long enough to drain internal charge. I removed and installed the battery in a second or so at first, and still the phone did not boot. After leaving out the battery long enough, it booted again. It appears to me that the issue in my case was a rather big internal charge capacity which kept internal state (memory and/or CPU?) from booting. Hope this helps...

That's why it's never a good idea to flash links that are just randomly posted through a thread unless it's either from the op or you know for certain it's for our phone. Only options you have now that it's bricked is either jtag or go through insurance if you have it.

Hi! Today I was trying to put another ROM into my Motorola XT317 and I made the same mistake as you - put the wrong rom and the cell have turned off. After trying many and many things, I was on the last light of my hope, I removed the battery and plugged the phone into the pc.
The buttons of home, back and search blinked and turned on. So I though: let me put the battery on and see what happens. Then, after that, the screen turned on with the battery design of recharging.
I know it is a Motorola but it would help you or other users with the same thing or phone model as my.
Thanks!

[Q] Samsung t989 Galaxy S II - Bootloop HELP please :(

I downloaded the Jedi Mind Trick JB 2 ROM and installed it via clocwork mod recovery .. That went fine but it took me a few days to realize I didnt have a working video camera anymore on my phone.. so I thought to flash a stock ROOTed rom instead...
Then I found this threat about an updated version of Jedi Mind Trick's ROM labled JB 3.. So I wiped as much as I could in recovery and chose to format all the options it gave me in recover , Format system , data , cache , emms(or something) .. and now when I boot the phone , it shows the first flash screen , and the samsung logo starts to shimmer then it reboots back to the splash screen and repeats this process everal times before just going black and sitting there..
So I've successfully bootlooped my phone doing this..
MY PROBLEM -- I don't know how to charge my phone or connect to it to install anything else..
Is this a serious problem? How can I charge my phone to continue troubleshooting it? It still has some battery to try some things but I don't know how to hook it up to transfer any other roms to it via USB cable and PC in it's current state..
I'm very computer savvy but I'm trying to learn this phone modding stuff and I realy hope I didn't brick my phone in this process.
Can someone please help me out here? I'll be on the forums religiously until I figure this out.
What should I start doing first??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
still working at it
I think I'm at the point of having to use ODIN to flash a new rom since i cannot simply copy this rom to the sdcard to use clockwork to flash it .. Am I correct on this ?
For some reason this rom I found (should be stock rooted tmobile gSII rom) does not want to open from ODIN's PDA button cause its in .zip and not .tar or anything... I'm not sure how to flash this rom with ODIN ( I'm not even 100% sure this is how its supposed to go) Any suggestions ?
phew
UPDATE - So I managed to research enough to find out that there is no way to flash a CUSTOM rom with ODIN.. SO I had to download a stock (presumably rooted) t-mobile rom and flash THAT ...
Now I'm back up with a rooted rom and will begin re-installing clockwork and then my custom deodexed rooted rom afterward.
Thanks for all who almost kinda tried to care to reply in this past 2 hours =) -- As previously mentioned.. I am a nerd.. I just suck at phone modding. Haha
So , looks like I'm in the clear now and don't need any more support on this particular topic yet.

Is this true? Through a recommendation (haven't done anything to my phone from rooting/flashing KANGSJUGGERNAUT2 years ago), I tried to flash CM10 and ended up with a bootloop myself. Tried flashing through ODIN but it kept crashing; does anyone know why?
Afterward, I tried to reflash it through CWM and from then on bootloops into a installation process that never completes.
For some reason my CWM turned super slow, freezes/hangs and reboots after a few minutes.
I gave the phone to a friend who does this stuff on the regular but he said my initial flash wasn't complete cause in download mode says I'm still running official? No clue.
I was told this via email/chat: "No luck, it won't even boot anymore, I think I'll just bring it back tmrw morn
10:43 PM
Sorry I'm at a wedding (yea I know random) I left my phone with coat check
OK I've narrowed down the reason but not the solution, you had an AOKP based ROM which fundamentally is based on CyanogenMod, but it wasn't correctly flashed as the phone still thought it has factory ROMs still running
11:10 PM
Clockworkmod(even though it was working before) wasn't accessing the partitions of the phone correctly so it wasn't properly wiping or flashing properly.
11:12 PM
So basically from the first time you flashed cwm it didn't flash properly then the next time you flashed using the new recovery it didn't flash anything it was supposed to do itself properly , so basically it was a chain of events in addition to a bad boot loader, that's why it never went to recovery or download mode correctly
11:13 PM
That's something that had to do with the way the phone was built meaning you may of had a bad bootloader from the very begin and are now feeling the synptoms
Basically, and I would hate to be the reason or partially the reason you have a dead phone, basically it was a matter of coincedencr that it happened as this could of happened at anytime, once you have a bad boot loader its pretty much down hill from there"
Any helpful insight as how I can rectify this? is my phone truly dead? Sorry about the quoted format, it was copied and pasted.
If I were in your boat, I'd use Odin and flash the stock 4.1.2 ROM.

Pull battery, put battery back in, hold power button & Vol +/- untill you see SAMSUNG on the screen ---> let go off power button(keep holding

Let me know.

you can try using adb and put the phone in dl mode.
sometimes its as easy as pull battery and wait awhile (20 min or more) and try again.
if you've exhausted all possibilities, you can use a jig to force a dl mode.

I don't know what adb is, or how to use it; I have, however seen my friend RDP to my desktop and do something and used the term 'adb' in his attempt to code through the phone.
I've done that battery waiting period, for nearly an hour and still no result.
After doing some researching, I have found that many people have stated a USB JIG would not be applicable to a 'hard bricked' phone. I really wanted to try as it looked like the most, simple and inexpensive solution.

wrong section. this has nothing to do with development.
anyway, choose a stock odexed original rom. they are somewhere here in the forums, just search for it, flash it via odin and get rid of your modified increased binary counter (if it is increased which will probably be the case) then flash a rom via odin which doesn't increase the counter (I think there are some not sure though)

Try another charger or usb cable for the charger...they sometimes break and don't give juice anymore. Try another battery maybe your battery is dead.
If the above doesn't help...flash a stock rom thru odin ( latest version of your country and send it in for warranty )

[Q] Boot problem with my p6

Hey guys,
I was running blueandroid custom rom on my p6 and it was all working fine. suddenly my phone shut down and since that moment i can't find a way to turn it on further then the huawei logo. pressing all three buttons for the forced update doesn't work. and i can't get in recovery. It simply doesn't make it till that point. sometimes it shows a random color (the whole screen) but most of the time it just shuts down at the huawei logo... i also tried fastboot but it doesn't get recognized...
could anyone help me?
i'd really aprecciate it.
Are you able to use adb?
If yes, try to flash twrp recovery via ADB.
Instructions in forum thread. (I think 2nd post)

Is your p6 low on battery? If it is, charge it up before trying to get to recovery.

It doesnt charge ( the led doesnt turn on and im pretty sure that doesnt) and i havent been able to try adb. Its also quite strange that it wont be in a stable recovery mode ( or fastboot mode) since it turn itself off after 10/20 seconds.
getting really lost
So guys,
i'm really starting to think i need to bring mine to the service center cus it's completely dead.
it won't charge, it doens't get into recovery mode, i can't flash the official firmware with the sdcart/dload/update.app way, i can't fastboot it cus it won't go in fastboot mode (the way it get stuck on the splash screen/huawei logo), and it shuts itself down after 20 seconds leaving nothing else then a black but brightened screen.....
i'm afraid i have to take full costs due my root and custom rom, if they can fix/see it at all.
it worked fine after all and shut down with no reason what makes me think this is a hardware problem.
does anyone else have any suggestions before i bring it to the service center?
thanks
Let it charge for 24 hours, see if you can turn it on after that.

But thats's ok, this is a common android problem, but some phone must be charged for al least two days, and after that try to flash another ROM. Even if the led is not always on, let it for a long time to charge, trust me, the power will be inside your battery, not full but enough to resist/handle a new ROM flashing.

Yea i know that... But it doesnt show the led when i charge it (so the led has nothing to do with the charging state of the phone), only in some cases when i try to boot into recovery. And the battery cant actually be totally empty, it was 40% when it totally crashed so i dont think thats the problem. And if so, it should at least get to the point where it is trying to flash the original firmware

What tool are you using for flashing? Or you try to install it from sdcard?

Im trying to flash it thru the sdcard with the update.app in sdcart/dload/update.app but to do that, you have to put in a certain mode (by holding vol+ and vol- and the power button) . But once again, i cant put the phone in A state, doesnt matter which state. It just wont get in a stable mode. Thats why i cant use fastboot/adb

Already doong that for the past 48 hours
Bringing it back
So guys,
Im going to the service center in 8 hours since my phone is completely DEAD. It doest charge and it does not even react to the power button anymore... (Probably cus the battery is completely drained), it doesnt react to anything else either (usb, power net, anything) and will nog be able to fix by connecting it thru a computer. Aka its hopeless...
Thanks for the support
Ive been to the service center, got a new phone directly, so everything is solved. For the information, my problem was a (like i expected) hardware problem, and there was NO way to fix without replacing hardware.
