Greetings all!
I have recently come across a used Evo with a bad microphone. I intend to use it to play videos, particularly from xbmc. According to the xbmc website the Evo is supported.
Additionally, I would like to output the signal to my telly using HDMI. From what I understand, this will require mirroring. My question: any stable roms recommend for mirroring?
Thanks!

the Sense based ROMS with HDMI built in have plug and play... you plug in your HDMI cord and you're good to go. CyanogenMod requires you use the HDMwIn app (free), so it's an extra step to use mirroring.
That having been said, I use CyanogenMod 7.2 Stable for the most part. The biggest reason is that they have a mouse pointer code in their ROM and a full bluetooth stack. I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse... plug my Evo into my TV and then sit on my couch while I type and use my mouse from a lapdesk. Instant home computer! I also can use a Nintendo Wii Classic controller to play games.
Sense based ROMs do not have a full bluetooth stack and I cannot stand that absence.
One more thing about CM... it comes packaged with an old version of ADW Launcher. It did NOT play well with my phone and I had frequent force closings. I updated ADW Launcher from the market, switched default use to the updated launcher, changed the old ADW to a user app (via Titanium Backup) and deleted it, made the new ADW a system app and rebooted. My force closings were entirely eliminated and I have a very stable phone at this time.
Thanks for the replies, all!

Will HTC incredible ever get a full Bluetooth stack ? I would like to use my s9 headset ( without glitching ) and my Wii controller ( plus video out plus Droid emulator equals .....awesome.) I have tried some other roms but so far no luck . Does anyone know of any development in this area ?

Yes, use fullHDMI, available from the market now. It's $5, but it's the most universal solution out there and you will be certain to have compatibility. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.orrebmas.fullhdmi
SavagedZen kernel will give you 720p output if you have an AOSP rom, and Netarchy kernel will do it for Sense.
Even if you aren't rooted, just on a stock rom, stock kernel, it will still work, and looks great.
Or just download Team Win's HDMI app from XDA or the market. It works just as well and is completely free.
ive been using teamwin since it came out and it mirrors the whole system so it should work for netflix
Teamwin works great. I just can't get the audio to play so I run a line from my headphone Jack to my receiver.

HDMwIn ftw... lack of landscape with the app while using hdmi pissed me off.I made the Netflix app work in landscape if anyone is interested http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1083133
Thanks.. I went with TeamWin.. Didn't work so I went to Kernel: Netarchy 4.3.4 CFS SBC HAVS. This seemed to of fixed it.
Works pretty good on NetFlicks. Audio is fine.
I'm using Konis ELite Series III for a ROM.
Not sure what the difference on the kernal is between SBC and NoSBC.
Teamwins mirroring app never worked for me, it always just froze and stayed unresponsive. So I bought the other mirroring app, works great.

That's exactly what it did on my phone no matter what kernel I tried. Orrebmas's version works good. I had some older lib.so issues and he was very quick to respond and help me out. The thing that sucks is this should just be a native part of the EVO, shouldn't have to install a third-party app from the Market...paid or free!

Yes it configures your bluetooth drivers to be compatible with the playstations3 hid bluetooth remotes. In a nutshell it pairs your playstation controller to your phone via a bluetooth mac adress that you match with your control via a windows app that the dev provides.

I only joined the Android party last April, but there's a number of great apps I find myself using all the time (in no particular order):
Pandora - I've been in love with this service for years, and the Android app is very solid
Rom Toolbox - Conveniently combines a bunch of features in one place. I only use the free version, and it's like a standard, very useful, Swiss Army knife. I imagine the paid version hulks it up to one of those inch-thick everything you might ever need in your pocket models. For me, the Terminal Emulator, Ad Blocker, Auto Start Manager, and Font Installer see regular use.
LastPass - While you have to pay to use the mobile client, it's really cheap and the convenience of having access to everything on the go is amazing. The app is comprised of two parts, really: a standalone browser for browsing to and automatically logging in to any site in your vault, and a system keyboard, which you can use to plug any of your logins into any app on your phone. If you're a Dolphin HD user, there's also a convenient browser plugin.
Waze - I typically use Google Nav when I don't know where I'm going, but Waze is amazing for user-generated traffic, hazard, police, and other information on your drive. I bring it up on my daily commutes so I can pick the optimal route to/from work, avoid speed traps along the way, and have an accurate, updated-along-the-way ETA for when the wife inevitably calls and asks when I'll be home.
Screen Filter - a sublime utility. qbking's video list didn't mention the widgets available with this app, which are my primary method of use. I have four different dimmer settings between 11 and 62% that cover just about every situation I regularly find myself in. A quick home screen slide and a tap and everything becomes much easier on the eyes in low light situations.
ZDbox - Like Rom Toolbox, this is an app that provides a handful of useful tools. It's my choice for app locking, batch uninstall, batch SD moves, and cache cleaning.
IMDb - I would die if I didn't have this baby handy for all the times I'm watching a show or movie and ask "where have I seen him before?!"
QuickPic - A stellar image browser with very convenient options to include/exclude specific directories on your file system.
Go Launcher EX - With themes, folders, widget resizing, gestures, etc., I love this launcher and its flexibility
AContact - I don't think I've ever heard anybody else talk about this alternative dialer/contacts; I stumbled onto it in the market one day and it's become my favorite for its clean, configurable interface
Woah can't forget GTA III

I'm loving AppBak. It makes a backup of your installed apps and when you restore it takes you to the Market for that app so everytime I do a fresh install of a Rom I can also install my apps fresh in a few minutes.

I have My Backup Pro not Titanium so I don't know but it only takes me about 10 minutes to re-download about 50 apps and there is only a small amount of data I restore. Then I end up with a complete fresh install which seems to be the starting point for solving several problems so I figure why not start there and try to avoid the problems in the first place.
Bump? i'd like to know what others fav apps are still! XD

I use my N7 to control my htpc/xbmc. No interest in running xbmc on my N7. To me that's just overkill. With a file manager that supports SMB I can watch anything on my NAS within a few seconds. It would have made more sense for these guys to keep the xbmc app the same and simply allow you to play it on your android. I got a mini android PC and tried xbmc on it but an actual PC does a better job period.

Maybe the wrong thread but giving xbmc remote the ability to use the default media player on an android device would be welcome feature. To have the web add on in xbmc also support playback would be great. The default web addon is pretty plain as it is.
Maybe the current dev might see this as a nice and easy feature.

Let's hope 4.3+Sense will keep that!
It's work also in MIUI By Adyscorpus (android 4.1.2)
i already test it with this rom and in OTG AND BT it work (in Bt with sixaxis controller app)
Works on the Google play edition yea, always knew that was going to happen, but it's sense that we've always had trouble with.
HTC Has been plagued by it since the Hero.
Was speaking to a HTC dev yesterday about it and he said he's not sure but it could be because of the kit that they have which works over BT.
Seems like a rotten compromise to me.
The Bluetooth stack HTC uses, shows your song info incar, and such, and has since my evo3d days, android is just getting this feature in 4.3 that was always my belief as to why they are different
