Perhaps someone out there has a suggestion for what i can do to fix my phone...
Ok, so I rooted my Dinc2 last spring, then that phone died, and i got a replacement Dinc2 and rooted it. It was working fine until it apparently heard that i got an iPhone for work, and now Google won't talk to me.
Or more specifically, i can't get my phone to connect to Google servers. I can't add a new Google account, sync my e-mail, connect to YouTube, or pretty much ANYTHING involving Google, at this point.
In searching for a solution I've seen various instructions from "delete/clear data/cache for Gmail' (now it just says "waiting for sync"), to 'do a factory reset' (um... not if i can help it)...
One suggestion i saw involved removing the Gmail account and re-adding it... unfortunately, i can't add a different one, so therefore i can't remove the one that's already been added.
I've also seen suggestions to edit your hosts file - and I am running the Magnolia 2.1 ROM, so it has an ad-blocking hosts file (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509997) . I figure that could be the issue, however i can't change it.
You see, after Gmail started acting stupid, i was trying to get into Google Play to re-load/update/something the app, but Google Play also wouldn't connect, so i attempted to refresh that by un-installing the updates (thinking it would auto-upgrade back to the google play, but with a fresh install)... so now i have Market, but it won't connect to the google servers.
What does that have to do with the hosts file? i dont' happen to have a terminal app on my phone, and now i can't install other apps, because, well, Google.
I suppose i can check out the Amazon appstore for a terminal app, but at this point, i'm over my head as far as deciding a good course of action from here, and was hoping someone would give me some advice (or a solution, other than re-installing my nandroid backup that's a few weeks old...) *twitch*
Try relaxing gapps, then clear cache and dalvik... If that doesn't work, wipe data completely.

Ok, so gapps is the google apps package -- er.. how exactly does one relax it? i don't really know what i'm looking for, or what i need to do once i find it... i tried clearing the cache and dalvik, without touching the Gapps, however no luck.

Yes it does...totally missed it. And I think a gapps reflash is the most likely fix too, but what do I know?
Have you tried a different rom?

Thanks everyone... reflashing makes more sense... :silly:
No i haven't tried a different rom, this one worked fine for 8 months - then i had to move it onto a new phone - which (once i got the tacoroot to actually work) was also working for two weeks even after i swapped phones, and did a recovery restore of the whole thing...
then it stopped working for some reason.
So, i gave up last night and did a recovery restore - but just a cache wipe/davlik wipe and restore didn't work -- so this morning I did a factory reset and then the recovery restore and it seems to be working again... hopefully it will keep working...
Now all i need is to restore my sms that i backed up before trying the restores...
I'll be back if it stops working again...
Er... i thought it was working... at least now Gmail and Play don't instantly crash when i try to open them...
but after 5 minutes, gmail still hasn't gotten any new mail....i'll try removing the account and re-adding it... *sigh*... this is how it all started the first time it broke...

Yeah, I did that much --
The issue is that the phone won't talk to Google... as in, Google play can't connect, adding a new Google account to the phone can't "establish a reliable connection", manually syncing gmail does nothing...
and, apparently, flashing GApps didn't help...

Sorry for misunderstanding you on the reflash!
In any case, here is where i am - tried recovering the ROM + Apps (using a recovery backup) to what used to work the beginning of Jan... didn't help - in fact gmail and play crashed when i tried to open them.
Did a factory wipe and recovered again -- this time they open, but they still do not connect...
Flashed the GApps... still no connection (but also no crashing - so that's something)...
Where i am -
Internet works (can get to www.google.com and searches work)
Google search bar works
Gmail just sits there
Google Play tells me connection timed out (regardless of how many times i "retry")
Google maps works fine
Accounts & Sync - "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly"
Add New Account - Google - (sign in to existing...) hangs for a good LONG while then says "Could not establish a reliable data connection to the server." (and in smaller print) "This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Costumer Care"
x 1000
Other errors: Activity Google sign-in (in application Google Services Framework) is not responding (force close/wait)

Both - i did a restored backup after a factory reset (which got it so i could open the google applications that had previously been crashing), then i downloaded gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip and installed it... which didn't help.

You're on a different rom than me, but try this:
Go to Manage Apps, find google services framework, clear data.
then go to google play store (or market), clear data.
Reboot.
If that doesn't work, I really don't know what to tell you.
It doesn't sound like you have done: factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe system: flash rom and gapps and start from scratch setting up your rom. Only restore the minimum from titanium, especially until you have figured out if it is running stable.
thanks...

The Manage Applications / clear google crap broke it the last go round -- (well, clearing data didn't, but reverting to market from play screwed it up)... so i think my only hope is start from clean rom and don't do any Titanium restores of any Google-made apps... especially since all my titanium backups are from after the issue presented...
I guess this means i can pick whatever ROM i want now... since i have to start from scratch anyway... maybe i'll finally go to an ICS one...

So after i flashed RCMix3d Runny v4.0 I tried to download an app from the market and get the error: "app name" could not be downloaded due to an error. It happens with any app I try to download any app from the market. I tried many things with no luck
-clear market data and cache. didnt work.
-uninstall market update. didnt work
- switch gmail accounts. didnt work
-flashed back to my previous rom. didnt work
I did wipe the phone before i flashed RCMix3s Runny v4.0
when I restored my previous rom it didnt work so i tried to wipe my phone again and reflashed the rom and still didnt work
can anyone please help me out here?
what exactly did you wipe? data & cache? use superwipe, maybe this helps...
i wiped data and cache. ill try superwipe
anyone? i tried superwipe and the problem is still there
Check your SD Card
check your SD card, take it or mount it on your PC and do a chkdsk (might need the /f to fix errors). Last time I had an issue downloading apps, my sd card was messed up. I don't understand why that would be.
good luck.

I had this issue when I first loaded mexdroid.
The first work-around I found was to select a different language option after the flash (during setup). English US wouldn't work, but English UK would give me access to the market. However it screwed up my data connection so that was a no go.
I eventually found that this only happened when I downloaded and flashed using ROM manager (first, and last time I've ever used that). Once I downloaded from their site and flashed myself through recovery, everything was perfect.
I currently have this exact same issue, only I went from mexdroid to synergy and back. I haven't tried wiping anything yet but I got this suggestion in my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19432854#post19432854
Go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/All
Find Market, first force stop, then clear data
Next find download manager, first force stop, then clear data
reboot into recovery and wipe the dalvick cache
then reboot system and try your market again
I'm going to try this soon and I'll let you know my results, but if you discover a fix first please post back, I don't like having a broken market!

I had done all that when I had the issue. It didn't work for me but heres hoping it does for you!
So you basically had to wipe everything and reflash mexdroid from scratch?
EDIT: I just tried the method I posted above and it didn't work. WTF, what happened? I don't understand how my backup doesn't work now, shouldn't it be exactly the same as it was before?
I'm going to try one last thing, I have 2 mexdroid's backed up about a week apart, at the time they both worked just fine but I'm going to restore the older one and see if that helps at all.
2nd EDIT: OP, I don't know why this worked and I don't know if this will help you, but I just reverted back to my mexdroid backup from BEFORE I tried the sense rom and everything is back to working. I don't know why but installing the sense rom definitely did something to screw things up. I also don't know if this had anything to do with anything but I unchecked the "auto update" option for market. I hope you can resolve your issue, good luck to you
For me when I tried switching gmail accounts again it started working.
I also accidently wiped out my sd card. That was right before I decided I wanted to go back to CM7. When logged into my gmail account I forgot I had to use my second gmail account, but for some reason it started downloading apps again.
Not sure if wiping the sd card had anything to do with it but it works now. I'm happy

Glad you got it working, I'm happy with my results too but I'd still like to know wth happened to cause it in the first place. It's gotta be something related to google accounts somehow, but why did trying a Sense-based rom cause it?
weird solution
I tried clearing everything in order to get the market problem fixed when I had this same problem. In different orders, flashing, wiping, etc.
Finally, I linked a second gmail account, and now it can download. Why might this happen?
The weirdest thing, is that when I switch to the original account, it still doesn't work. Maybe a security file was corrupted somewhere?
I read something about google market locking somebody out if it thought there where too many devices attached or something. Haven't found anything to confirm that and I still don't know why I got locked out or why it started working again, but if making a new account worked that makes me think there's some truth to the market lock out theory.

Guys, this worked for me w/o changing google account or wiping sd,
1.)Turnoff your phone
2.) Remove Battery
3.) Remove External Sd Card count maybe 3-5seconds
4.) put sd card back in and battery
5.) turn it on and see if you can download again
I tried all of the solutions listed here; switching Google accounts, downloading an app, then switching back to my main account solved it. Thanks so much!
I had the same problem, going to accounts and removing my google account then adding it again fixed the problem
I added new account with the sync app, open the market, switch account, download some apps, switch back to old account and download other app. This fixed the problem. Thanks.

As of today i have not been able to download any apps from the market.
when i click on the "accept and download" button an error message pops up saying, "******" could not be downloaded due to an error. (-101).
I noticed that the apps look as though they are downloading but with a blue bar continuosly scrolling on the My apps screen.
I have tried clearing cache and data from "Download manager" but this has not helped.
Any advice please?

try clear the cache from CWM and fix permissions through ROM manager. if it wont work reflash the GAPS mate.

Interesting... I'm stock on 4.0.2 and just started receiving this about 48 hours ago too, I'm not rooted either.
Exact message: "Application Name" could not be downloaded due to an error [-101]
I did a bunch of searches and haven't found many solid responses or anything that's helped, some people said "it's a quota error" but that doesn't make sense since I haven't downloaded many apps in the last few days, others said to clear data/cache and that hasn't helped either. Also tried on both 4G and WiFi and that doesn't matter.
I've done reboots, etc. as well and nothing - even swapped batteries so "batter pull" will not be helpful either.
FYI - This is my 4th Android device and I've never seen this before.
Thanks for anyone that has any input!

Fixed it!!!
Here is what I did:
1. Settings
2. Personal: Accounts and Sync
3. Selected my Google account
4. Once within my Google account, clicking on the context menu/settings menu I selected "Remove Account"
5. Once the account was removed it prompted and asked for a new account, I entered the credentials for the same account and then rebooted
6. Once it rebooted I went to the Market, accepted the EULA and downloaded Google Gesture (I wanted to try a free app first) without any issues!
FYI - the account I deleted was fine, there were no issues in how it showed up but deleted it anyway.
I hope this helps people out! Good luck!

Log into your google account and check your wallet. There may be an issue with your payment method. If everything is fine, try deleting the app and then reinstalling the market. You can google "android market apk" to find it, or Google "google play apk". Download and install.
If that still doesn't solve, it could also just be the Google servers having an issue.

might be a ROM issue
I have the same "error processing issue" problem. I often have to clear my market cache/data, which works sometimes. So I called google market play to see if there were any issues in my account, and the rep said there was none. His theory was that there might be some issues with the custom ROM (ARHD) I installed, since I only started having problems after I installed it. Anyway, I think the only solution for now is the clear cache data approach, or better yet, hope that our ROM builders are able to address the issue.
As an aside, my ARHD is working perfectly, except for this market issue (cum hoc, ergo propter hoc?)
I also have a custom rom installed and had this same issue, I resolved it by uninstalling updates for the google play store app, and then it worked...at least for now.
I recently started messing with various roms and themes when this issue popped up for me. I searched the web and tried the various methods (removing gmail account, not updating, etc) with little luck. After hours of frustration, I finally found out what was causing the issue.
I was using Titanium Backup to back up all my files and restore them as I was flashing between the various roms, that was the trouble maker.
When you back up your files before a flash, make sure you do not back up the google/play store. So, if you are having problems, try to go trough these steps and it should fix it.
Back up all your files (minus play store) in Titanium Backup.
Reboot phone into clockwork.
Reset Factory Data x3
Wipe Cache x3
Install your rom from zip
Once your phone is booted up again, do not enable Wifi (for now)
Do not add a Google Account
Go to the market and download Titanium (will prompt to add Google account, do so)
Exit the Market
Go back to the market (it should now have auto updated to play store)
Try to download another app, any app, it should work
You can now use Titanium to restore all your apps and data, but make sure that you do not restore anything with the market/play store in it.
I did this yesterday, restored all my games, contacts, text messages, etc and it has worked fine for me ever since.
I am running slickMOD Supreme with the Darkside Kernel.
Hope this helped at least a few of you as I know how big of a headache this was for me.
All is good now. However, it does still happen with a couple apps, free or paid. I can't remember which ones but it gives the processing purchase error. Very rare albeit still present.

Aloha;
Sounds like an ID mismatch here. Happens whenever you do a factory reset or change ROMs. I'm guessing that the ID is a hash of the phone and the ROM, maybe. Anyway, the device ID is what ties the phone to your Google account and apps use this to determine whether you paid for the installed app or run as a freeware version.
Titanium now offers the choice of reverting the id back to the old one or ignore the change. I prefer NOT to change the ID back as I've ran into more id mismatch problems down the road than just keeping the new ID. I too use Titanium to backup my apps and data, and use it to quickly restore my apps and data to a new installation on my phone (whether it be a factory reset or a new ROM, or even a reinstallation of the current ROM). Whenever I have a misbehaving app that reverts back to the freeware version or complains about licensing problems, I then uninstall the app and then reinstall the app directly from the Play Market. That has always fixed the problem for ME. Your Mileage May Vary, which mean while it works for me, it MAY not work for you. Keep that in mind before you start biatchin that it doesn't work.
Oh, yeah, also try rebooting after the reinstallation. If nothing else, Dalvik and Cache!
Mahalo,
-Lance

I've run into this a few times after doing a restore from a backup or swapping ROMs. Best way I can fix it is go to Google Services Framework, stop it, clear the data. Next go to Google Play, stop it. Uninstall any updates, then clear the data. Reboot phone. Go to Google Play again, accept terms, and now it should work. Just some advice.

It's typically under all software. You have Downloads, SD card, All and its in there somewhere. In AOSP or AOKP you have to go under downloaded and it's in there
Some days ago I flashed a ICS Rom, all went good but the only thing that i noticed was that my phone name had changed to lt18i in the market. Today I decided to go back to my previous GB Rom so I restored it from my nandroid backup. Now my phone is still identified as a lt18i and cannot download anything from the market. I tried to wipe the app data of the play store app but didn't do anything. Also the remote download from the pc doesn't work at all.
What other things I could try? I really want to avoid a factory reset if possible.
EDIT: Found a solution, i moved/deleted the /data/system/accounts.db, wiped the app data from the Play Store and restarted the phone, added my google account again and the market updated my device name and the downloads are working again.

I just tried this solution for my HTC Incredible 2 and it worked flawlessly. I'm currently running ICS 4.0.4 from Aeroevan's CM9 build. I tried clearing the data from the market and download manager as well as trying the "killall drmserver" fix, which has worked before. This here did the trick. I wonder if removing and readding the accounts from "Accounts & Sync" would've worked as well? I'll try that next time if it happens again.
Thank you.

Thank you.

Just got the purchasing error from market and tried removing my account from Accounts & Sync. Phone gave me this warning:
This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data.). You do that in the Settings application, under Privacy.
This worked for me too after changing around my apns. My market started giving off that error. Then I did your fix and now market/playstore is perfect again! Thanks! By the way you have to do the whole fix! You cant just delete your account in accounts and sync settings cause that doesn't work I tried.
Awesome!! I was starting to get pi$$ed... This was saver!

EDIT: Found a solution, i moved the /data/system/accounts.db, wiped the app data from the Play Store and restarted the phone, added my google account again and the marked updated my device name and the downloads are working again.

Now, on my phone I tried to find /data/system/accounts.db in astro & other file explorer but couldn't find it. Not in root or SD. I see a data folder in root, but there is no folder in it.
I also don't see the option to remove acct data in play store options. I'm getting relatively better this stuff but I can't find the options detailed.
A bit of elaboration please?

Did you root your device?
I tried to use astro and root explore, if no superuser(root), you can't see things in /data

I just ran into this problem, hoping it will work on my tablet. When you say you moved the /data/system/accounts.db, what do you mean. Where did you move it to? Or do you mean you removed/deleted that file. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I figured it out. Deleting the file did the trick. Thanks again
I actually resolved this issue simply by wiping cache and dalvik from recovery, and rebooting.
Btw yes I'm rooted but nothing there. I'll check again later though. Thanks.
Thanks. I have been searching for a fix. This worked for me!
Unfortunately this process didn't work for me. The various market fixing apps on the market don't work either (it's hard enough just trying to find their .apks since I can't download them over the market) and my CleanRom lost its keyboard and launch buttons thanks to trying this method. Looks like I'll have to wipe the device tonight. *sigh*
Edit: Dalvik and cache wiping fixed it for me.
This problem arose for me last night.
Fixed it by reinstalling 3.1.5 Market update.
Cache wipes did not help in any capacity.
Downloaded Market update file from www.arctablet.com/assets/apps/Android_Market_v3.1.5.apk
Probably a million places to find it but hope the link helps someone out.
I fixed this issue by making sure I was logged into Talk. The app wouldn't open so I uninstalled the update and then it ran fine, and the problem went away.
OP
your fix worked like a charm for me. CM9 on Motorola Photon. thanks!

You are my god! Worked
After flashing a new ROM onto my SGH-T989, I run into a reoccurring problem when trying to download apps from the Play Store. It's perfectly fine for the first couple hours but after that, whenever I try to download a new app I get an "Error processing download DF-BPA-09" am I doing something wrong or forgetting something? I am able to update my apps with no problem, it's just new ones. Doesnt matter if I'm on wifi or 4G same problem. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?
Have you tried going into your application manager and clearing your cache and data? I had a similar problem and that worked for me.

Clieaning cache and dalvik cache didn't work form.
I've found the following on internet which worked.
Clear data on "Google Services Framework", reboot and manually start sync on your gmail account.
solved
i went into 'play store' app info (mine is cndlauncher- hold icon and drag to more info), force stopped, clear data and it worked

Also try logging out from your Google account then add it again. That made it work for me.

None of the tips above worked for me. Been dealing with this the last couple days. But removing my Gmail account and adding it back did the trick! Thanks!

Worked for me as well. Reboot was required (I thought it would not). Thanks for great advice!
I tried all of the above, and the only thing that worked was removing my Google account, rebooting (may not have been necessary) and adding it back.

Exactly, same here!
To be honest: there's no way to localize "google service frameworks" on SII (ICS).
Google services framework worked for me....
Dual boot
I'm having this issue quite often since I'm using dual boot with Syiah Kernel.
Second rom is always latest CM9 nightly, and the issue appears always on this side.
Maybe because first rom changes often.
Anyway stopping Google Framework Service and clearing data always works (from titanium backup)
