I just got a Menotek Mhl adapter and the phone recognizes the power from it but nothing happens on the TV or the phone when connected. There is no option to switch to hdmi and it doesn't happen automatically. Is our phone supported? Thanks for any help.

I've used it and it works fine. I had to reconnect the cable to get it to work but it works perfect.
It's not the adapter because my roommate's evo lte works just fine with it. I am rooted and unlocked running rooted zv9 ROM. Normally I'm good at troubleshooting. Can't figure this one out.

Man I've tried so many things already. I've had multiple friends use it now but I'm the only one with an LGOG. I thought you needed an extra adapter for the s3 but that worked as well. My phone accepts that its hooked to a charger but nothing else. I really want to play n64 and snes on my tv Lol!
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Well figured it out. The S3 didn't actually work. I got the 5 to 11 pin adapter and all is well. HD phone on the TV is pretty sweet!
Edit: Works for my buddy's S3. 11 pin does NOT fit LGOG. Still does not work with my phone at all.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
so the OG uses 11 pin MHL like samsung? I thought only S2/Note2 is using 11 pin.
I bought one off a guy on ebay named fourpairteledata for $8 with free shipping. There is no name on the unit and it feels cheaply built and only came in a plastic bag but it works perfectly and has a microusb port for the ac adapter.

Did you power the MHL by hooking up a powered micro USB to the female micro USB port?
I didn't understand what you are talking about but I do hook the MHL to the HDMI cable to my pc...
What should I do first?

Btw I'm using a custom rom AOkP build27
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
As well as connecting your phone and TV up, it will require more power. There is a microUSB port on the side of the MHL adapter, plug your charging cable into it.
Oh okay! Thats means I still need to buy an axtra connector/cable to make it work?

If you're still having trouble after you get the charger plugged in, keep this in mind. My GN will only enter MHL mode if I plug the cable in with the phone's screen turned off and the TV already tuned to the correct input. If I plug the cable in with the phone turned on, or switch the TV to the right input after I've plugged it in, it won't work. I have a cheap Chinese cable though. Good luck!
With my Samsung MHL adapter from eBay the wireless LAN stops working immediately when I plug it in... as far as I found a lot of people have that problem :-( :-( I tried several different USB power sources, nothing worked
Sorry for that, was just making fun but it's not funny to, am very sorry...

Could i have a link that shows which bluetooth dongle works for you?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using xda app-developers app
So I keep reading, a lot, that otg and dongle work, but then nobody shows how or what brand...
Does it work or are all of these posts saying its works just repeating what they have read?
[I really dont think people should be posting answers in an FAQ if they are just repeating others words]
I have looked and looked and I can not find anything beyond the same reply: "OTG cable and dongle"
If someone can share a link/thread that shows actual success with a Bluetooth dongle and results that would be great!
Thanks!

It doesn't work, there's no driver support in any Kf ROM for any type of Bluetooth dongle.
These posters have all read it doesn't work, they just refuse to believe it.
I have heard that people have claimed success with dongle

I said that the only way it will work is with an otg cable and a Bluetooth dongle. You still do need drivers for it to work.

People are getting confused here, and that's understandable.
Before Bluetooth was around and usable on PCs, you used to be able to buy keyboards with an adapter that would sit in the USB port. They would only work with that specific keyboard and nothing else. They were proprietary and use the standard USB drivers apparently - Which is why the guy who is using the dongle and keyboard in the video is able to do so.
Bluetooth on the other hand is totally different, and while you need the dongle, you also need the drivers. But I think we've come far enough that no one is going to write them.
Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone has had success with the Samsung MHL adapter with any custom ROMs. I have an Android mirroring device in my car so my navigation screen shows whatever the phone shows and I couldn't get it to connect right with three different ROMs (Slimbean, LiquidJelly and Panadroid or whatever thats called). I went back to stock and it connected just fine.
If there are no ROMs that will work what is the best way to update stock ROMs using Odin? I see this page here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625 but I am just concerned it wont work correctly with the MHL adapter. The thing for my car cost me mucho bucks so I will sadly have to unroot and stay stock if I cant find a ROM capable of working for me.
MHL works fine for me with Slim.

CM10 Nightlies from before October 10th work fine. They broke something after that and I eventually went with a stock ROM so I could keep using my phone with my Appradio. I'm not sure if it was ever fixed. Also, the KT kernel seemed to have it broken as well. Dunno if that was ever fixed.
I'm waiting the two days for JB to be officially released, and then I don't think I'll have to worry about using a non-stock ROM.

Are you using the Samsung 11 PIN MHL adapter? It shows up on the screen but constantly cuts in and out.
And JB comes out in two days?

I'm not, I'm using a full on 11pin MHL adapter knockoff I got on eBay for $20. Haven't noticed any issues so far, granted I've also only used it for an hour or so.

I've looked online for adapters to use the wireless Miracast technology to link the New Droid line to HDTV's but I see a lot of mixed ideas on what works well and what is junk. I figured I'd try and start a discussion where we can get this straitened out. Anyone have any leads?
No idea on the miracast wireless display. I use the phone to download torrents and stream them to my TV via roku and app on phone called twonky.
Verizon store tried selling me a miracast adapter for $49.99

I bought a netgear PTV3000 to play with on my Maxx. It took a bit to set up (definitely need to do firmware update) and the initial connection was finicky but after that it seems pretty rock solid. Pairing is slow (like 30 seconds) and there's a definite lag (anywhere between half a second to a second or more) but for video use or general sharing it works fine. I wanted it to try a dockless system (keyboard, mouse, screen) but the lag is just too much for that.

I saw the netgear but also read that it had some issues. But hearing you say it works is encouraging. I wonder if there's any devices with less lag. I'll try and do some more research, thanks for the input!

I keep seeing all these results for some $10 belkin one but it's not out yet. And of course it's been disabled on the chromecast. The roku 3 would be in my hands if it was working. Its miracast capable but hasn't been enabled yet.

I can report that the PTV 3000 works awesome. Watched a football game from the Sunday Ticket (with the Madden 25 deal) and it was just about flawless. Clearer than a wired connection we started with on my son's Razr Maxx.
Really impressed.

Are you rooted? I heard that it will not work with rooted Samsungs and want to make sure that is not the case with the new droids.
Any miracast adapters with component or composite video?
Sent from my XT1080m using Tapatalk
I use my Raspberry Pi and RaspBMC install and the Yatse app to send video to my TV. It's a great combo, but not as mobile as a Miracast adapter would be though.
Anyone please share the link.....looking for one...did not find at ebay....
I bought the Netgear PTV3000 from Verizon. Could not find anywhere else. It works good. I keep the phone close to the adapter to avoid choppy playback. The unit requires an HDMI cable which nobody tells you about. HDMI both ends. Total outlay ends up being $100.

Seeing lots of adapters on Amazon for dlna airplay and miracast. Under $30. Wish I knew if they worked. The reviews are mixed and none mention the actual use.

The PTV3000 with the latest update works great. Slight delay while in use but other than that it works great. Not having to sit an HDMI's cable away is nice too. Like on my old RAZR MAXX.
