Storage question - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Does anything need to be done to the internal storage like on the dinc where you create a ext4 or anything like that?

[Q] Switch to larger sd card?

How exactly is this done with a rooted DINC2, running Skyraider Zeus?
Is there anything important relating to root on the card, or can I just pop in a different one and be okay?
u can just pop in a different one and be fine. u may have to format it first. format as fat 32

Thanks!
So, there is nothing on the old sd that is needed for the root or the installed apps, as long as I didn't move anything to sd?
that is correct. you have nothing to worry abour

"Root" in Android terms is referring to the root file of the phones internal storage

yes he's right. to elaborate a little more, when some one says put it on the root of your sd card that just means you put it straight to your card not in any other folders

Appreciate the explanations!
Without the detailed tutorials here, I'd be completely helpless.

Question about epic touch

Im getting my phone tomorrow but I was reading that the phone diesnt come with a sd card and that it is partitioned for 2 gb of app storage. Then there is 11 gb available for pics, videos, and music. Is this true? Im used to these going on the sd card

Yes its true. SD slot is empty and your numbers for internals are correct
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Yes, you can put what ever you want on it.

I'm sure it won't be long before we have the ability to set our own internal app storage partitions.

Check your recovery backups, see if you have too many, they can take up quite a bit of space.

i dont think so, i remember reading someone with a similar problem in another forum but cant for the life of me remember where, sorry! are u on a custom rom? try reflashing or connect to your computer and use the explorer to see where all your space has gone. if that doesnt show more space and a reflash doesnt fix maybe its your internal storage itself i think thats what it was with the other person and its irreparable without replacing. I know Flac music files are crazy big but i assume ud know if it was that. hope i help in some way and if i come across the other person with the same problem ill post a link.
I had a similar issue after flashing a new rom, it would show up with about 9gb taken up space even though nothing showed up. The way I'd fixed it was by formatting the sd card from clockworkmod.
A few ideas
Install solid explorer from the play store. It has a mode that lets you see what is eating up space graphically.
If you download roms vía rommanager or any other app check the sd card folders for those downloads. they're about 150 mb a piece so they can add up (especially if you do nightlies)
If i format my sd card via recovery,
Do i lose my apps?

You will lose any apps installed on the SD card.

Sd card

I should have more storage space than I do. Is my sd card being doubled with the sdcard0 thing that happens when flashing ROMs?

I don't think so. you should always wipe the whole system before flashing a new Rom. Also if you have a lot of nandroids stored, that takes away a lot of space. I recommend do a full wipe, format system and then flash your new Rom just to make sure all of the old Rom its gone:good:
Gotcha. Forgot about the nandroid I'd made. That would explain the space issue. Thanks for the response.
Install "disk usage" from the market. It will analyze your storage usage and show you what is using your storage.

Here's a screenshot of what disk usage found. Seems to me like my media was doubled, but I could be wrong. Any idea?

It's not doubled, you just have +4GB in your music folder and +2GB worth of CWM backups.

[Q] what does partitioning the extsdcard

I partitioned my extsdcard in CWM. I don't know what it does but i just did it cus i liked to play around. Does it increase the internal storage of the phone itself?
Ext is external so it probably wiped your external sdcard unless I'm mistaken

It splits up your external card into multiple partitions for compatibility reasons. It does not increase storage space for either.
