So basically just show us two screenshots: one of your total battery, and the other of your on screen time. Also don't forget to say what ROM/kernel combo you're using. If you have any ideas on how to make this thread more fun, let me know .

MY battery keeps dieing
is there ne way to last longer
any apps
or turning off nething
etc?
Have you read any of the many threads on optimization battery life?
Have you researched a rom that meets you needs and tried that?
Have you read on the kernels and which give best battery life?
Do you have an extended battery? Have you read any threads on those?
If not you are a person that should probably buy an iphone.
That's it? My battery keeps dying is the only thing you can say? My battery dies too. I was under the impression they didn't last forever. How long they last before they die is where a problem could be. Fail...you don't even deserve an answer.

Dude, stop making threads. Seriously. Do your own damn research and if you happen to have a specific question, start a thread at that time.
There is plenty of information on here about making your battery last longer and as the previous poster said please stop cluttering up the forums with a new thread about every question you have.
Also questions go in the Q & A forum and NOT the General Forum.
If you really have questions and cant find any info by searching or looking through the forums then post a single thread with all the questions you have in the correct forum.
Thread closed as there are existing threads covering this question.

You guys know how's the dev section messed up. Well, those days are over.
Post all your (dev/non dev) questions here.

Seriously ...wt abt all the guide threads in the general section??just go n help there dude
sent from my legendary <<<defy>>>
. Don't forget to hit thanks if I ever helped u!!!!!
Okay let me try,
Recently the battery drops on my trusty defy have increased, two drops between 60 and 40 and 30 and 20. Will buying a new battery solve this? And also, maybe ot, but any reviews on the mugen 1700mh battery?
In the previous build, 18v1update and in this one, my battery when connected to the charger just heats up and doesn't charge more then a certain point. On the v1 i had to wait till a complete drain and then it charged, on this its at least at 50. Any one else facing those issues?
How is it that some people are getting mad battery life, like you ppero, and some aren't?

Before buying a new battery you might should try how the battery life is on roms like cm7, so that your not buying a new one due to some bugs in the rom
just to get this clear... you created a thread which has the exact same purpose as the q&a section?? how does that make sense? if i were a dev, id close the thread right now... wth happened to the defy forums?? up until august everything was working fine, and after that, spammers and [email protected] noobs took over...
sent from my cm7 defy...
This thread is a nice idea, but it essentially serves the same function as the Q&A section. For low-activity devices that don't have a Q&A section, this would be nice, but since the Defy does, it's more appropriate to have questions posted there. Thread closed.
Is it possible for someone to make a thread about ROM and Kernel benchmarking and comparisons, and make that thread sticky?
A lot of threads like this has come and gone, but I think something revolving around this idea should be kept open and accessible for improvement purposes.
Here are a couple of my ideas:
1. There should be a poll in the thread, which is updated and contains all active ROMs and Kernels
2. All poll stats and old reply posts should be wiped every 2 weeks/ 1 month
3. All voters are expected to leave SMART comments about their vote choice and have actually tried and tested a LOT of ROMs already
4. All developers for ROMs and Kernels should provide a link to this thread, and ask their patronizers to vote and leave comments about their ROMs there.
5. Mods should regularly check the thread for spam posts and delete them.
6. If possible there should be a ROM+Kernel combination which will be awarded "ROM and Kernel" of the week/month.
This is a serious suggestion!
Some positive outcomes of this are:
1. Since its' basically come down to a competition, developers will be ever more diligent in updating their work, making it possible for them to be encouraged to make better ROMs.
2. Many newcomers may come in and "try" to join in on the "competition". (More new devs, and not the poser-kind)
3. Galaxy Younger's can easily have a benchmark on which ROM is currently top notch, especially with the monthly/weekly award.
4. xda's SGY community might possibly increase in population.
5. There is a possibility that some ROM critics might be born out of the process, taking android development into a whole new tier.
This thread that I suggested isnt easy to manage, so someone who has a lot of free time and technical know-how should handle it. It also might be biased for just anybody to make it, so preferably it has to be an admin or moderator. I know this could be asking for a lot, but it may make SGY one of the best sections on xda.
Thanks for writing this up and I too agree with you!
Such a thread coupled with brief user reviews as comments will help a lot of people decide which rom suits them!
Btw y don't you start the thread we can ask captain to make it sticky if thats okay!
great idea but unfortunately only mods have the ability to wipe posts, modify polls and move / edit stuffs,
so it would cause xda a high upkeep
U need some supportes..

Hey All,
I've got a question.
I need a good clean rom, with long battery life.
Right now I use VJ 4.2, and battery is draining rather quick.
It doesn't really matter which version of android it is, aslong as I can use the phone for atleast a full day (2 or more days would be better though) on a festival with moderate use, reguarly taking photo's, posting them to facebook, and using whatsapp.
Doesn't really have to do anything else.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.
best battery = best ROM = against XDA rules = closed thread
I would bet my money on either oxyZM 2.3.2 or mild wild jg 8.0

It would've been in the forum rules if it was. http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=689
It's a genuine question, so go police someone who's actually doing something wrong. :good:

Good luck with that.
Got my answer anyway.
And it's not in the rules I linked you, which are the rules for this forum. So how the hell am I supposed to know i'm not allowed to ask genuine questions here?

as for the rules you have been here 2 years before me and still don't know that a rule like that exists i read it someone that you are not allowed to ask for best Rom kernel theme mod since they are all the works of hardworking devs and also what someone else likes maybe different with you owh and swearing is not allowed it was in that link

Swearing? the word hell is not swearing imo. sorry if it offended you
I am not asking for a best rom, im for something that would give me a better battery life for a couple of days.
I know each rom is different etc and everyone works hard, but I don't have time to flash 20 roms on my phone and test the battery life on each and every one of those.
So why wouldnt I be allowed to ask a question about it? people have expierences with different roms.
And I've read the forums rules, so those are the rules I use, nothing in there about asking about this.
My join date has nothing to do with this tbh, I only occasionally come here. if they've posted those rules somewhere else and it went to page 23083 or something like that, I can't do anything about that ofcourse.
If there is such a rule, it should be in the rules in the sticky in my opinion.

Well, "best rom" is in the title, so ...
It is covered under Rule 2 in that it is generally perceived as disrespectful to the devs that work for free to share with us. Also, it has been known on frequent occasions to start "spirited discussions" shall we say among supporters of various devs/ROMs. Finally, the experiences others have with various ROMs is generally not directly applicable to your phone as there are small variations in the electronics, your geographical location, cell towers and more that will add up to large overall differences.
Thank you,

My ROM development has been on pause for a while because I've been learning how to destroy my phone by screwing with the kernel.
Sometimes I've had a win (YAY!) but sometimes a massive lose (I even had to throw it in the thing in the bathroom sink with the cold water running because it was so hot! and NO! it WASN'T the fast one in the screenshots!)..
I'm attaching my very varied results here.
I'm hoping to get a few things uploaded tomorrow but (in true Gixermouse form) I might be distracted by something with two wheels and an engine
Anyone wanna test some?!
